Is good but could be better
This app has great filters and effects however it either shuts itself down or half the time only half of the screen shows the camera view and the other half is pitch black. I’ve tried restarting and redownloading but still no solving the glitches. Feel disappointed that I paid for an app that doesn’t work half the time.

Audio glitch on import
Recording straight into the app works great. Although it is a little unstable on my iPhone XR. However when importing video, the audio on the output is misaligned.

So many problems with the app
I loved the app a while ago and decided to purchase it. After the purchase, it’s been unfuctional in so many ways. The app shuts down when you import a video… the quality of the imported video is not as good as you would record. Whenever I open the app, it doesn’t connect to the phone’s camera which works fine on its own but somehow won’t work with the app.

Use is good. Actual vhs will always be better not prone to software crashes. But for £4 I am not complaining with the app. Gets stuff done

The Absolute Best VHS App
App works smooth as butter, with all kinds of filters and effects. You can also lower the framerate to that of an actual VHS. The text feature could be tightened up but it's probably more to do with my touchscreen (alternatively, the font and text can be changed in the menu).
What a bargain for the upgraded version! And no secret subscriptions either (one time purchase!).

Great Software but It’s Buggy
Really cool program to get that nostalgic kick of feeling the recording on your VHS again but on your modern iPhone. I have found recently the application has stopped working for me and doesn’t do anything other then freeze on me making the software unusable which is why I have given it three stars for the software but the rest of it is down to the program been unusable at this time in moment in writing this review, so hopefully in a update this’ll be fixed.

Awesome for horror animators and ARGs!
This is a really useful app for people wanting to make creepy analog horror or args. It feels really authentic and smooth. One thing I’d love to suggest for a future update is a filter that mimics old cartoons. With flickering dust and a slight jitter effect. I think that’d be the pure icing on the cake for tons of people. But either way, I highly recommend this app.

Doesn’t work on iPhone 13 Pro Max
Doesn’t properly import. Just seems to soft hang. It’s usable doesn’t lock up. But you can’t add effects. It will only video and have the default. The buttons just seem to stop working. Requesting a refund

Awful…just doesn’t work on my iPhone 12
I paid for this to do some Instagram videos and edit some music videos I already had mainly…it is not easy to navigate, it won’t import my videos properly, when it finally does there is no audio, it will not save the new videos, there is always some sort of error…there are glitches everywhere. I am running a fully updated and 4 month old iPhone 12, as new as it gets.
I never write reviews but was compelled to here as it annoyed me so much. Wasted my money. Gutted

This app is just awesome
Fully customisable, you can swipe the screen to add ripple effects and distortion as your filming which is such a cool feature. Defiantly the best VHS cam app and it’s definitely worth the money, the VHS is so realistic that it looks better than editing footage in post with customised overlays. Also, the sound in the videos have that VHS sounding quality which is awesome. Date and time can be changed and a custom title can be added in and out in as your filming. This app is perfect for shooting cheesy 90s game shows or commercials with your friends (even making Blair witch inspired short films). I would definitely recommend this app, it’s so fun to use!

I simply had to buy the full version its too good...
love the features, only problem is the tilting idk if im doing it wrong but if i turn on and off the tilt on my phone while in app it doesnt affect it. apart from that its perfect, wouldnt mind a glow in the dark style filter though like where u look light mint green and everything else is very dark like some secret mission goggles 😂
I REALLY BADLY want to be able to import videos and pictures i already have too, please add this as a feature

Nostalgic era times of video recording

I didn’t expect this app to have the quality that it does! It really is mind blowing how accurate this is to the real family video camera quality on VHS that myself and many others are familiar with. The app is going nicely and I absolutely love the new way of changing the aspects of the picture! But now there’s another problem. When importing, the frame rate goes to around 5 to 10 frames per second no matter what resolution or frame rate you choose. It could be because I’m on an iPhone SE first generation. But then again, recording with the built in camera works fine. I don’t know what’s causing the problem as importing worked fine before the 1.6 update. Anyways still a solid 5 star app.

Great filters terrible app experience
While the filter is fantastic and the different options are also satisfactory, I would hope that for an app this expensive for merely a few filters the user experience would be better. Some problems include:
- The app crashing repeatedly
- Taking about 2 minutes to load the import video screen, and much longer to load the actual videos I wish to import
- No option to search through video folders while importing the videos
While these would not necessarily be problems if the app were free, given that it is so expensive I would have hoped that such issues would not have been encountered as it is completely ruining my user experience.

Very authentic app
Works perfectly, no annoying limitations, and the customisation options are well done. The only problem I would address is that you cannot change the hour and minute time, you can still change the date, but it limits it to 1984 and you cannot go further than current day you try it on.

Takes you way back to the glitchy analogue era - it's not a big deal that you can't add the effects to existing videos, if you're that desperate then edit it in Final Cut Pro. Worth the money.

Fantastic app, but...
This is a great app, I have been using it for over 3 years, but when I upload a video, it just crashes. This is quite frustrating, especially when I want to use the filter for something.

Found it pretty unusable
Effects look great, I upgraded to import video which is my main use but found it unusable. Videos take forever to load and then when you import one it just plays once through and goes back to live video through the camera making it unusable, disappointing

Import and file management is unusable
The best most authentic vhs filter is rendered unusable by a very very very slow file management system which makes it virtually impossible to use for anything other than creating live videos.
If this is fixed, a five star review will find its way in.

It’s actually really good and i’m having a lot of fun my only issue is that i have to shut off the app a lot so it doesn’t freeze and the ‘spoof your date’ doesn’t actually go before 1 March 1984 for me which is annoying and on other dates i’m not allowed certain months as well

Excellent app easy to use
I used this app to record my first family holiday abroad with my kids, really fantastic to give the videos that classic feel to them. Hopefully it’ll give the same feeling of nostalgia in years to come as the old authentic VHS videos did.

Amazingly authentic 80s VHS emulation
Really looks like failing videotape ! It would be great if they could add that buzzing sound that tape makes when the tracking is out, or chewed up tape is going over the heads.

This app is amazing and I love it so much, the only reason I wouldn’t rate 5 stars is that I wish there was different kids of vhs to choose from if that makes sense like one filter with less noise and grain like that of camcorders In the early 2000’s. Other than that this app is amazing

... absolutely love this app. I just wish you could convert existing footage on your phone. i.e. take a 4K movie you’ve already taken and convert it to VHS quality. That would be awesome. So handy for creating retro cutaways. (EDIT, don’t know if it’s new but you can import! 😀, hold down the play button to import. Fantastic! 6⭐️)

Nice but...
An option to disable the tracking/interference white glitches along the lower part of screen would often be useful. It’s sometimes overbearing/corny and not something that can be disabled or toned down.
Apart from that it’s a pretty useful/convincing vhs sim.

Nice effect. Like the ability to tweak it to most closely resemble the kind of home videos my family used to have.
For those who’ve mentioned the need to tilt for adjusting interference — you can also simply slide or tap on the video itself while recording.

Love it, but...
Absolutely love this app! Very realistic VHS simulation.
The only thing I’d suggest changing is the “Tilt To Make Things Worse” option. You have to tilt your phone to add more interference, which also tilts your shot, and when you straighten your phone up the interference goes away. I’d prefer a slider across the bottom whilst I’m filming, so I don’t have to comprimise my shot to add effects.

Good app but more options would be nice
Considering the price it would be nice to be able to change the time shown on the video, or have the date and time on imported videos be from the original video. If these features are included in future updates, the app would be perfect and I’d use it to convert videos a lot more.

Great app but some effects left to chance it feels.
The running out of time in the trial did some truly awesome effects, and the tilt and really bad rolling tape dropouts would be great to also have on a button to force as an option.
Good app but bit frustrated at not having those on toggle in the paid version.

Very good but 1 problem
I really like this app but there’s one problem I have when importing videos I’ve previously recorded onto it. The finshed product usually has a bit of a lag between the video and the audio. Please fix this if need be or let me know why it’s doing this and what I can do to prevent this from happening. Thanks

Too basic
Although this app has perfected the simple vhs experience, it hugely lacks more complicated features that really do not justify this purchase, especially when they OVERcharge at £3.99!! It would have been nice to see a larger range of editing tools but this I understand that it’s main purpose is recording and not editing. Overall fun and easy to use but there are free apps out there that do the same and more.

I tried the other options within the app and found that on an iP6s Plus, keeping the ratio to: 480p @ 30Frames recreates the look perfectly.
I hope others enjoy this app as much as I do, oh and you can upload videos from your personal photo album too.. GREAT!!
Was £3.99 at time of purchase. If the price went up to £5.99 it still would still be worth the purchase.

Fixed - App crashes on video import

App works great.
Had trouble finding how to import existing videos - you have to hit the play button.
Maybe ‘play/import’ Would make that clear to users if you can’t have a separate button for each.
Overall I recommend this app and developer.
