I’m a pet sitter and this app is great, it helps easily connect me to pet owners so that I can help look after their beloved pets while they go away.

Don’t like the operation and appearance of the app, very text heavy and not the easiest to navigate from a sitter point of view. Unlike other pet sitting apps, they also hold on to the payment for ages and take much longer to pay the sitter, cheeky.

Honestly loved this app at first - was perfect for a University student to earn extra money doing something they enjoy. The clients I’ve cared for are lovely and have had no issue with finding them. Unfortunately the support system is awful. I have had trouble moving homes and with my personal life so was not able to conform to the 24 hour response time limit twice due to having no access to wifi or mobile data abroad. I understand there is a policy but removing a trusted sitters account for not replying to 1 message is a joke. Then received no response when I brought this up. They reactivated my account only to delete it 3 days later for absolutely no reason. Was told it was because I didn’t respond to a message from 6 months ago even though that had never been an issue in the last 6 months… very strange. Shame because it leaves clients with a small bunch of sitters to pick from. I’ve heard many negative comments regarding this app over the last 3 months so won’t be surprised if it collapses.

I’ve been using the app for a while as a pet sitter and have had good success however compared to competitors ( won’t name names ) the apps user face is more complicated than it needs to be, there’s also no flexibility on pricing specific dates, additional services like others.

I use this app in Holland and has been excellent.

Trying in London and no one bothers to update their calendar, it shows they’re available and they aren’t.

Sick of wasting time sending messages to people to get “I have another booking”.

Annoying.

As a sitter with all 5 star feedback on several previous bookings, I received some unfair negative feedback from a pet owner following a booking. My account was immediately suspended and after an initial response from customer service, it has now been over 2 months since my account was suspended (or deleted). I have chased for a response and not received anything from Pawshake. This has also been the experience of 2 other people I know who have used the app as a sitter.

Feels like it’s entirely unintuitive app..such a frustrating experience .. and so many sitters not able to say if they will or won’t be avail around the Xmas period.. times when we really need clarity.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Pawshake while looking after a dog. Prior to taking up the responsibility, I had met the dog and the family, and I was given specific instructions about the dog's preferences. According to the owner, the dog loved being outside and disliked being indoors. He wasn't much into attention, preferring only some bonding strokes, and he rarely barked, except when seeing a fox. Additionally, he had a peculiar eating schedule, preferring to eat at 11 pm at night. With these instructions in mind, I offered the owner the option of letting the dog come for a trial period before committing to the full 30-day boarding, but unfortunately, this was not taken up. The real trouble began on the first night when the dog cried, howled, and barked incessantly throughout the night. I immediately contacted Pawshake for assistance. However, their response was disappointing. They advised me to find a kennel for the dog and also suggested that I reach out to the owner. They claimed that they couldn't arrange for another sitter without the owner's approval. So how me speaking to the owner would make any difference if they need the approval from him firsthand.This lack of immediate help and support from a platform that offers pet-sitting services worldwide is disheartening, especially when there's a distressed animal involved. What adds to the frustration is that it seems Pawshake's customer service team only has one person, named Sam, who responds during the night for UK-based sitters since they are based in Australia. This limited support during crucial times is unacceptable, considering the platform's global reach. As the days progressed, the dog's nervousness and anxiety persisted. The owner later revealed that the dog had previously been boarded at kennels, which I think may have contributed to his fear and uneasiness. Pawshake hasn't been proactive in providing assistance or solutions to reach the owner and find an alternative sitter. The situation is concerning not only for the dog but also for my own family. I have a five-year-old daughter, and I am worried about her safety when playing in the garden, as the dog has growled at her on a few occasions. The lack of intervention from Pawshake and the continued distress of the dog are affecting my own well-being as well, as I have to stay awake at night to ensure the dog doesn't disturb my neighbors, who have already lodged complaints. In conclusion, my experience with Pawshake has been disappointing and worrisome. They have failed to provide adequate support in a distressing situation, and their limited customer service availability is a major drawback. I would caution others to be cautious when using this platform for pet-sitting services, especially when dealing with sensitive or challenging situations.

First time using Pawshake and using a pet sitter. Mika loved his time away with them. Highly recommend

Went for meet and greet and everything was fine. Dropped dog off the day before we fly out the next day. Only to be called up after 20mins to say she no longer wants to take the dog. This put massive pressure on us to find a replacement before flying out. No way to a leave review unless the dog stayed with the sitter therefore the rating system is hot garbage and does not reflect real ratings. Be warned

Maxine was an amazing Cat sitter. I have 3 cats and Maxine’s visited twice a day and fed and watered the 3 girls while we were away on holiday

Maxine visited the girls a couple of times prior to us going away and got to know the 3 cats

She sent loads of photos of the girl to let us she them while we were away.

I honestly can’t recommend Maxine and Pawshake enough. It was so comforting knowing the cats were all safe and their needs have been met and we had nothing to worry about

I have found a wonderful dog sitter on the app - perfect for weekends away or holiday time. I book through the app and we communicate through it - simple to use.

Kicks it’s loyal pet sitters off of the site for no reason and sends lies about them to their customers and give the sitters no reason why they’ve done it and refuse to reply to them. Vile way to run a business, you should all be ashamed and no one should use this company!

This organization offers no guarantee or care for your pets. I currently am a sitter on their site and became aware from owners whose dogs I unfortunately couldn’t careful due to a pre-existing commitments that there was an issue with that current sitter who had gone AWOL and was not communicating with them. as they were in a foreign country they asked if I would go and check, and thankfully as I look after these dogs on a regular basis I have a key. When I got to the house it was in pitch darkness, not a single light on. One of the dogs has failing eyesight as she’s 15 the other is a boisterous two year old saluki. The door into the hallway had been left fully open, something implicitly the city was told to never do, the baby gate wasn’t just open the office hinges. leaving a potential death trap for both dogs. The food bowls were overflowing and yet no additional water had been put down and pee pads were all surrounding the back door. Clearly indicating this person had no plans on returning soon. and in fact they just abandoned the booking without notice or reason. Poor shake six days on have done nothing about this. Therefore let us be clear the client that booked with them would’ve had to return abandoning their holiday to come and care for the animals that was booked through a professional site run by unprofessional people.These things are all about how much you trust the person looking after your animals, in this case it’s more the fact you can’t trust the company that employed for people looking after your animals. be very aware that if there is a problem despite paying a fee you are on your own.

Maybe use a bit of humour on your app updates like your competitors do. Makes me feel you’re more approachable and human vs very dry and IT ish. Woof woof.

Pawshake is an excellent user friendly app that’s enabled us find fantastic boarders for our dog. It is streets ahead of Rover.

I founded the customer care really poor. They take ages to reply and never solve anything. Really disappointed!

I have not yet managed to find a decent pet sitter on this app. They either don’t reply, say they’re unavailable while their calendars show they have availability or have crazy expectations like leaving a dog alone for 8+ hours! A total waste of time.

As a product designer myself, using this app can be painful at times. One of the issues is being unable to book a sitter for different services at the same time, for example, 1 visit on the first day, then 3 consecutive days of 2 visits, then 1 visit on the final day. This is a common occurrence when going on holiday. Another issue is being able to connect with a sitter without proposing a required date and service. There’s no way to meet a sitter without sending an enquiry. Overall the app is clunky, which is a shame because it addresses a clear need amongst pet owners. Looking forward to any future updates.

Had a 24 hour booked for £120 and this app left £48. Not on at all!

I use a couple of great catsitters but even they dislike the app. It really inconvenient as nobody has much time to waste.

Couldn’t setup my account, have no idea what this company is doing, but it’s not connecting customers with service providers. If I can’t create a user ID, then I can’t connect with a pet sitter.

Pretty good app, but can request a sitter and they can thus refuse. So, not always enuff sitters on here 4 a job.. But, a good idea, by all accounts, otherwise.

Pet owners don’t have to create profiles, are not reviewed and can’t even be reported. I’ve had owners leave dogs with me long term saying they can be left for short periods but they couldn’t and destroyed my door when I left to take the bins out! I was then limited to what I could do for the rest of the long term stay as I couldn’t even pop to the shops. I’ve collected dogs from houses where they've been left so long they’ve gone to the toilet. I also received a fraudulent message from someone posing as a dog food manufacturer-no way to report these messages. So considering I had to upload a new profile picture because there was a shadow on my face I would expect more protections for the sitters who are opening up their homes.

The price competition is really low considering what you’re offering and then the commission so not really going to attract quality sitters. I am going to honor my bookings this summer but take no more and leave. I’m not shocked people are finding bad quality sitters on the app due to all of this.

Pet owners should have to have a profile, answer training questions on that profile honestly, be reviewed and enter vet information.

People literally just try to book without me knowing anything about their pet-that’s not good!

Pawshake is a great app to look through in order to find a perfect match for your pet or pets, while you go away either for business or holiday.

There are many people out there who are prepared to take on a completely strange and new dog or cat and make them feel comfortable and at ease while you are away. There is always a sense for both owner and dog or cat that you are abandoning them, but the skill and experience of some of the Pawshake pet sitters, is very reassuring and there is therefore much reduced stress for the animals.

I find the app a bit clunky. It is difficult to know where to find the information and I have issues booking more than one date at the same time.

Apparently pet owners and pet sitters are both requesting a quick decline button, but they just refused to do it. Not only caused pet owners waiting, but also increased pet sitters’ workload in replying requests.

Definitely not a good app nor a good company to work for as a pet sitter. I promptly arranged an initial complimentary meet up with a pet owner but she canceled on me a few hours before the agreed meet up time. That’s totally fine, but later the owner ask for another time slot for a free meet up, I got so many requests to reply and so many pets to look after, so I didn’t make time to reply, Pawshake app didn’t send me any notification, just controlled my account and turned my profile to Away mode, so no other pet owner can see me or reach out to me, once I realized, I manually changed it back, so pet owners started to contact me again and all smoothly met up and booked my service, and also once again leave me kind and great reviews. But the pet owner canceled our meet up didn’t stop there, she filed a complaint and trying to force pawshake to inactivate/complete block my account, so they again didn’t send any notification via app, just made my profile unable to be seen by other owners again, so pet owner tried to book me cannot reach out to me again. This complaint owner said she saw me still receiving requests and accepting bookings with others, so Pawshake just tried to force me to respond to it, by unlock and reactivate my account several times within a week, they started to sent me many impolite emails and without my consent, share the conversation I made with Pawshake to this pet owner.

So be very careful, being pet sitter for this company, you will be forced to take on cases that you don’t feel comfortable with, if a jealousy pet owner who can’t get you to look after their pet and just file a complaint on you, Pawshake will has no hesitation and unjustifiably turn off your profile and keep manipulating your account from your back, and of course you can just lost your profile completely whenever they want to, while you have never been rude to any pet owner, always promptly offered a free initial meet up, and have every single booking comes back with a five star review and tones of compliments.

Will never recommend Pawshake. Website and app both poorly designed, plus treating pet sitters like their disposable tools.

Highly rate pawshake. We looked at several other agencies and their sitters were not up to scratch wasting a lot of our time. We will work with pawshake again going forward.

The app and business concept is great, but you have to sort out the chat… messages end up being sent and ranked in a random order , and not by time. It’s impossible to follow a conversation and people end up in WhatsApp. That also impacts your business model.

How can you not see/fix a bug of this gravity after so many months? I waited for long before writing this review hoping you would fix this.

A brilliant app for finding local sitters for your pets when you’re away. Very easy to use. It has an inbuilt chat programme so you can request a booking for the dates, talk to a sitter and then the payment is done securely through the app too. This means it’s all done independently, safely and securely, and you’re covered by Pawshake’s insurance/T&Cs.

I have had a great experience with Pawshake. Our pet sitter Jacqui, who we book through their app has been fantastic with our cat and is honest and reliable. Handing over the house keys and the care of my beloved pet is a big deal and Pawshake made it a safe, happy and secure experience

Unreliable pet sitters and poor customer service. Avoid!

As a pet sitter using this app the main feedback I get from clients is that once they have selected their required dates they can only book either one visit a day or two visits a day for those dates. Most of my clients only need me to do one visit on the day they leave and return home and two visits on the other days but ruff have to either pay for two visits on the days they only want one or make two separate bookings, one for the dates they want one visit and another for the dates they want two visits. This is really frustrating for them.

I found Pawshake while looking for pet sitting services and I’m glad we found them. We were very nervous about leaving our dogs with someone but the whole experience of finding someone on Pawshake was a breeze. From finding someone to the meet and greet and booking them is so easy through the app. I would highly recommend Pawshake to anyone.

Finding Pawshake has been a real game changer for me. Knowing that I can leave my beloved puppy confident in the knowledge that he is with a loving caring sitter who will take such good care of him when I need to be at work or moving house as I did recently is such a relief and provides a much needed back-up. The app works well although it would be good if you could book half days/one visit mixed with two visits all in one go rather than two different sessions. The rest of the app and being able to message the sitter was very good. The reviews from other people really helped me to make a decision about which sitter to choose.

I’m so glad I found Pawshake. I am a new dog owner and had no idea how I was going to be able to go out for long days or even away in holiday. The sitters on Pawshake all seem genuinely nice people and the first time I have used one it was such a relief to come home and find my doggies happy. Finding someone to look after our cat has always been a bit worrying but this app has completely changed that. It’s very easy to use and there is a clear process for booking. I like that everything is managed through the app so you don’t have to pay anyone direct. We have used it twice now and wouldn’t do anything else when we go away. I joined PawShake a few months ago ahead of our summer holidays. I needed to find a trustworthy, reliable cat sitter for while I was away. PawShake didn’t disappoint. The app is very easy to use, and there were lots of potential cat sitters nearby with excellent reviews from other clients. I’m really happy with my experience, my cat sitter was very professional and went the extra mile to look after my kitty. Brilliant app.

Happy with it, only used it once but there were no problems. It was quite easy to navigate, find, confirm, book and then pay. You can communicate with the sitter before booking and search by locality. Particularly useful to have the option to write a review of the sitter because then you have feedback to read from previous customers who have used them before.

We love traveling (home and abroad) and unfortunately our pup does not... So having Pawshake is a lifesaver!

We have used a couple of the sitters at our home and the app helps to make sure any concerns are alleviated - we connect with the sitter and then meet them at our home so they can hang out with our pooch. Both sitters have been completely respectful of our home and made sure our boy is well looked after - with plenty of photo updates!

Great way to find local pet sitters. I have used the app for my cat in Berlin where Inused to love, as well as in Bradford, Shipley and Leeds UK. I have never found a bad pet sitter - always found kind careful and organised people. Many who became my regular go to in each locality. I’m very happy to use this app to find the best for my cats.

So the big big big issue with this app I’ve found out very very quickly is there is no way to rate people based on the conversations or meet ups you’ve had with them. You can only rate once you’ve paid and the pet has stayed. Out of the 4 people in the area that came up 1 was totally rude, 1 took ages to reply then asked for my number then didn’t respond at all. Another we took our dog there. The women couldn’t even be bothered to meet us her dad did then when we arranged a collection time after the trial she had gone out to the supermarket then 2 days later wondered why we hadn’t booked her. Be very careful with this reviews may be very misleading and not even true within the app for the sitters. How can someone have 5 star reviews but can’t even be bothered to meet clients or communicate with them.

I personally wouldn’t recommend the app for the ratings issue alone. Use something like Facebook or somewhere else that lets PEOPLE rate their experience regardless of whether they’ve use them or not.

Just booked my pet in for his first home boarding holiday! Website is very easy to use and nice to be able to pay via the website! So far so good!

The app is ok, it’s been great for us to get some extra cash and look after some lovely doggos. I just don’t like how they automatically make your account inactive if you don’t reply after 24 hours and then don’t even message to tell you they’ve done it. We were inactive for over a month and had no idea his was even an update. It lost us lots of money as we are booked very regularly. Our average response time is 1-2 days so I don’t think this is good at all. The notifications can be off and the messaging often doesn’t work, saying its timed out or not sent and then sends twice.

Great idea, ok app but needs some enhancements.

It would be better if you could pay per hour or even per 24 hours under home sitting e.f If i want someone to start 7am on a Friday and finish lunch time on a Monday they are not paid fairly as Pawshake only pays them Per Night! I emailed Pawshake and they just said this is how they work. It makes it awkward for both the sitter and the customer. I have someone sotting whilst i have a surgery. They are sitting for two days but staying one night. They get £25 for to days work! Stupid. Put me off using it again really.

We have found a great sitter who is local, she is great always sends photos, the site was a-bit clunky to start but is always improving.

It’s also good to know that your pets are covered by insurance too when you use the app and I believe they take to vets if the unfortunate happens.

Great prices for us and we feel happy knowing they are in there home.

App has some kinks like finding what you have booked and cancelling is very difficult other than that Great app.

Pawshake is easy to use and helped me find home boarding for my dog. The first sitter had an inaccurate profile and I wasn’t happy with the standard of care or her honesty.

I would highly recommend meeting a carer in their own home before making a booking.

This service is fantastic and I have and will continue to recommend it to friends and family. As a sitter it is an easy and useful way to advertise my sitting services and meet lovely new people and their pets. I have been using the app for just under 4 months now and after a slow start obtaining bookings, things have taken off now that the summer holiday season has begun.

I have continued to be impressed but the response times from Pawshake whenever I have had a question, query or feedback. Their customer service is flawless. As a little extra money maker this app has changed my life!

Pawshake is really easy and clear to use. It is very easy to communicate with pet owners and sitters. Having a list of pet sitters locally with services offered and prices all clearly listed makes it very simple to select a sitter that works for you.

I used Pawshake in Austria and England. I was new in both countries, didn’t know anyone and as I have to travel for work at times, I needed someone to look after my cat. Pawshake was a real godsend for me and my cat! I’ve used the app several times in different countries and the service didn’t disappoint. You get to meet the sitters free of charge before you decide on booking. Once you make the booking, you get regular updates (sometimes with pictures) from the pet sitter and one of them even wrote a “report” on how things went while I was gone! Really glad I found this service and have recommended it to many friends.

Two things:

1) Every time I open the app for the past week, it tells me there’s an upgrade and forces me to go the the App Store. Once there, I find the app is up to date. So why does it keep telling me there’s something new and forcing me to go to the App Store??

2) I would love to see some sort of quick response button for sitters. I have reached out to at least 17 different sitters with no response. Perhaps if they had a quick way to decline I wouldn’t waste precious time waiting to see if they’re going to respond.

Love the app, lots of info, easy to use. Have met some lovely pets and pet owners and all is very straightforward and working with the app means I can respond quickly to all enquiries. Brilliant.

Very happy and dogs well looked after

I always was a dog lover. After 32 year with a good career as a journalist,I realised that I hate doing that. And I started thinking on how I’d could live doing what I most like in life: dealing with dogs! Initially i thought that I could study to be a vet. But after my first day at the university I saw that is not for me. So I meet Pawshake. And I discovered another way of working with Dog for who is not brave enough to be a vet! Pawshake: thank you

After my previous cat sitter closed up shop I had no choice but to find another. After some googling, I came across Pawshake. I’ve been really impressed by the app and through it have met an amazing sitter. My cats adore her. The only issue is that on days we only need 1 visit, because we are home in the evening or leave in the morning, the option isn’t available. That’s really the only problem I have come across.

You can’t communicate with a sitter until you’ve paid. Then if you find out they’re unavailable to collect the keys you can’t get a refund!! How does that even make sense? I won’t be using this again as I don’t know if the sitter can make it until I’ve paid then if they can’t they still get paid for the service they haven’t provided!! Avoid using this.

I booked and paid for 2 different holiday visits . I then received texts from the sitter and a phone call from Pawshake to say I’d not paid. I sent proof of payment (from bank statement) to sitter. However PawShake did not respond . My usual sitter is not available and I cannot get another sitter who will feed my pets, presumably because it flags that I don’t pay 😡 One sitter has just made contact and then ignored my message back. Waste of time.
