Invade privacy policy

Disappointed that I paid money for an app with such a poor privacy policy. I’ve moved to an open source alternative with a better privacy policy.

Best Reddit app by far

I have tried every Reddit app under the sun, but will always come back to narwhal. Feels like a real pro tool for using Reddit. The layout makes browsing extremely easy and just works. I found other apps to not be great when I comes to browsing more text based subreddits, but Narwhal really hits that sweet spot.

Best reddit app for gestures and reading

This is hands down the best app you will find for iOS that it is gestures based and offers an incredible reading experience.

Almost a perfect app (iPAD)

Everything is so smooth and looks great, especially coming from years on Alien Blue iPAD. Only major issue is the colours used on dark mode needs evaluating. The navy blue with grey text does not work well in low light conditions and makes it very frustrating. Just needs some more customisation options. Other than that, is an incredible app. Loving the app icon options.

Crashes all the time

I’m so tired of the frequent crashes on my iPad Pro that I’ve had to download Apollo instead. Had hoped the most recent update would have fixed the issue, but unfortunately not. It was good while it lasted.

NSFW posts even when disabled on your account

This is probably one of the most powerful reddit apps out there and I want to continue using it but despite my account having NSFW turned off, it continues to show NSFW posts in my All feed.

Brilliant

Makes redditting (yes that’s a verb now) so effortless. I don’t have an iPhone but on the iPad it really works well and makes use of the full screen

Don’t pay to remove ads, doesn’t work

Have reinstalled the app, restored purchase but still have ads at the bottom. What a rip-off!!

My favourite reddit app

It’s simple, has a clean interface which makes titles and comments easy to read, and the the gestures are intuitive. I just tried out Apollo briefly and it felt like a cluttered mess compared to narwhal.

Great but 1 thing...

I love the Narwhal but I have one problem - you cannot flair! Impost regularly but many of my posts from Narwhal get removed because I can't flair. For this reason I have converted back to native Reddit (which I feel is too ad-clogged). Devs, if you read this add flairing, I beg. PM me on Reddit u/_akbar.
Thanks!

Paid for Pro, Ads still getting through !

I’ve just reinstalled and restored all purchases as directed. It says purchase restored yet the lower ads still show every now and then!!! Is this a sneaky plan????

True black + autoplay gifs

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed an app before. Been using Narwhal for years now but the recent update with true black and autoplaying gifs takes it from 9/10 to 11/10.
Get this.

Awesome app

This is my favourite app for reddit by far. Now we have auto play gifs the next feature I’d like is to be able to swipe through albums without having to leave the front page.

Pure and simple, the best reddit app out there! Jumped from alien blue to this given AB is no longer maintained and the official reddit app is shockingly bad. Good job guys, well worth the £5

Seems to have stop working?

Like this app, have been using it a few month. But today the app keeps freezing, it will work for a minute or 2 then freeze. If I kill the app then open again, it does the same thing.

Best Reddit App

I have downloaded and used all other available Reddit browser apps and used each one for a few days at a time to thoroughly test them. This is by far the best app, especially once you set up the preferences to your liking.
One idea for the developers would be, could you implement a setting where you can choose to use the app as an 'observer' and take away the swipe to reply features etc so the UI can be used without accidentally choosing things you don't want or need.
Otherwise, great job guys. 😊

Used to love alien blue but this app nails so many details like force touch and collapsing comments. The tiny details make all the difference. Excellent app, won me over big time

Hangs loading comments

Frequently hangs loading comments and requires a restart, losing your place in the sub you were reading. Extremely annoying and renders the app fairly useless.

Normally fantastic

This current version keeps freezing when I try and open a link to something else and just ends up with a completely white screen, so end up having to restart the whole app and losing my place.
After using it for longer it happens EVERYTIME I try and open a link which means I have to restart and lose my place in the thread.

Best Reddit app.

I tried Alien Blue, stuck with it through the first few months of the official app. Found myself being constantly frustrated.
Then someone recommended Narwhal. What a ridiculous icon, I thought. I don't need another Reddit app, I thought. What a ridiculous icon, I thought again. Then I tried it. And I love it. Every interaction with the app seems intuitive and sensible. My Reddit app hunting can cease.
Oh, and now apparently I can choose a different icon. What more can you ask for? Spend the couple of bucks to avoid ads and you'll be set for life. Use it and love it.

Some problems

The subreddit search used to give good suggestions for popular and relevant subreddits, but now the good ones are low down and random subreddits have come to the top. Also, when searching something, it frequently says "an error occurred"

Worrying trend

Longtime supporter here. Narwhal has always been a great Reddit client with a unique UI, but I feel like the developers have become too focused on adding new features rather than fine-tuning what it already had to offer.
The side-bar is becoming more and more bloated with mostly pointless options, and the UI itself has barely been worked on over the last few years. There are big problems with contrast and tap targets that need addressing, and the app is slowly becoming more inconsistent with the way iOS is evolving. It still looks like an iOS 7 app.
I just hope that the developers can focus more on the core of the app and useability, rather than feature bloat.

Best Reddit client by a mile. Gorgeous looks, clever design with great use of gestures, and rapid development by a great dev team. I'm always impressed by the improvements that every update brings.

Sublime 👌🏻

I have tried many Reddit apps and never really settled on one until now.
It has the unique balance between usability and simplicity, with everything you need being either a swipe or a tap away.
The night mode implementation where you just tap the narwhal is sublime...so long eye strain!
The newly updated version has fixed a lot of the niggling issues that was holding this app back. But now with fully working YouTube link support as well as the more discreet volume bar (come on Apple, get with it), it's now super easy to "just use" and have the extraneous stuff fall away.
And finally, it wouldn't be Reddit without Narwhals, so it gets my vote and I'll definitely be recommending this app to anyone asking for a decent Reddit app. 😎

The best just got better!!

I really love the app n love the millions of features it has, but that hasn't stopped the developers from constantly iterating on the product & it just keeps getting better.
Go get it!
Update: this app has gone far beyond my expectations. It is light years above any other Reddit app! The developers keep adding features n do listen to requests n suggestions. If only every app/developer work this hard?
Keep it up, another 5 stars.
