Not a smooth experience
At first I tried to create an account after shopping from a link on facebook and the response was that my email address was invalid. It wasn’t! I then opened Matalan separately from a Safari search, entered the same details and it worked first time.
Also, at checkout, there was no criteria mentioned about delivery charges until check out. Give us a clue in advance. I also didn’t like the way that you worded the donation to charity. I do donate to charities but like to be in control of how and when. Your wording didn’t make it clear how I could opt out and I think a donation has now been made from my account because of the confusing way in which you presented it.

I like Matalan !!
I use Matalan a lot. The clothes are decent quality for the great prices and best of all the fit in my size is very good. Matalan have smartened me up so much. I shop both in store and on line frequently. I use click and collect and my orders are usually ready to pick up in 3 days, plus my local Matalan is so convenient, I drive past on my way to and from work. I also need to say the staff are really very good, pleasant and always happy to help when needed.

Awful customer service
After placing a click and collect order , I patiently waited almost 3 weeks with no ready to collect email. I contacted Custer service online regarding the matter and received a message informing me a message was now in my account, no message arrived either . I then phoned Custer services to be disconnected while I waited for the lady to sort out what’s happening, I called again and was left hanging on the line for 20 while I waited to speak to a manager then disconnected a second time.

I’ve just spent an hour looking for a nightdress I saw in store . 2 hours later a lot of money spent. No nightdress as it’s not on their website. It’s so annoying. I purchased 1 nightdress in store yesterday and wanted to buy another as it was well liked. I don5 understand how you can have a product in store but not on the website. I even trawled through all the sale pages in case it was in the sale & it isn’t. I will have to go to the store tomorrow to see if they have anymore & hope they do.

Overall good app. Has some things it could work on. For example, viewing items from the basket. It’ll keep taking you to the first item that you viewed, rather than the one you’re actually clicking on and it is slow to respond.

Parcels not received
Did a online shop that wasn’t delivered to my address even though it says delivered I haven’t received it was delivered down the road I have asked the neighbours no one has seen it,so was speaking to someone on the Livechat which took over a hour of waiting for something to be done the manager was too busy to get back to me I have requested a full refund waiting on that to be processed but I have to download a link to say I haven’t received them which is disappointing as I’m not very good with these things.

It’s been a while!
It’s been a while since shopping at Matalan. Years in fact. I have to say, yes the cost of living has drastically increased recently but I find Matalan’s prices have also dramatically increased! Other than a few vest tops and very basic leggings everything is pretty expensive.
I haven’t received my order as yet but I hope they’ve revised the sizing in women’s clothing because I remember the sizing was off when I used to shop there regularly. Things were at least one size smaller than the tag says compared with similar clothing shops such as Asda George who I think are more standard and consistent in sizing.
There doesn’t seem to be as much selection as in previous years but there were a few things I liked. Let’s just hope they fit!

App is not fit for purpose
I can’t even do the basics on this App. Just searching for something gives a “this page can’t be found” error. Or clicking on the categories i.e. “New In” gives this same error. I’ve only just tried this App so I don’t know if it’s always been like this but I can’t use an App where you can’t even do basic searching. I can’t contact Devs so no choice but to leave bad review, sorry. And yes I’m using the latest update on the latest iPad IOS.

Matalan Me
I wanted to order a pair of school trousers as the size I needed wasn’t on the shop floor. Matalan don’t do orders in store, you have to go online. I was unable to log into my Matalan Me account, which I’ve had for several years. Tried password reset numerous times - didn’t work. I went back to the store to see if they could help - they couldn’t. There’s no contact number or working ‘live chat’ to help with this either so I had to create a new account. Now I’m confused as I’ve now logged back into my account, but it’s showing my original account number although my new account email is showing a different account number. Very poor experience.

Issue with website pictures
No pictures of the items being sold were viewable so I just brought the items I knew I wanted and had previously seen. A blank screen with a question mark was all that came up on each item. I was looking to possibly purchase other items in the sale but could not view them so I will try again another time. I expect it was just a temporary issue with the website.

2nd order!!
2nd time I have had to order the same items due to delivery failure with the first order. Not Matalan’s fault directly rather the delivery company but frustrating to have to purchase a 2nd time while I still await a refund for the first. Surely Matalan could simply resend the missing order?!? Waste of time! And really frustrating…some of the order is a gift for my Mum. Actually this is the only reason why I’m ordering again. Really disappointing, very poor customer service and shocking performance by their chosen delivery company EVri. 😞😡

Click and collect slow AF
The app works fine for me, no issues. My only issue is with the service from matalan for click and collect…I choose this as previously the delivery service is unreliable when the delivery company gives the date for delivery, I make sure I am home, and nothing turns up; therefore I choose click and collect to my local store for my convenience. However, this is proving an extremely slow service IF you don’t pay £2 for priority service. If you don’t pay the extra it literally always takes 2+ weeks for your order to be delivered to the store, I think these days this is unacceptable to most people and would certainly put customer off even buying from matalan. Unless you give them your data and make an account there is no way to track your order so you basically have to wait patiently. I know it’s only £2, but it’s the principle that they are willing to frustrate customers for this snail service. It’s been 10 days since I placed my click and collect and still nothing at the store, once I’ve collected this order I won’t be using matalan going forward at all.

Unfair returns policy
I have shopped at Matalan for many years and maybe I just haven’t been in this position before or matalan policy has changed. Just over a month ago my daughter asked me to pop in to purchase some clothes for her two children as she was going away. I spent £100 but she didn’t find anything I’d bought suitable so I put them aside to return. I then forgot until today but took them back to the store in Stafford today to find I only had two weeks to return them and now they don’t want to know. I didn’t expect a refund but they said that was it. Their policy is no refund or exchange or a credit. Just nothing. Obviously I will never use the store again and will advise my friends.

Good clear photos of products
Only thing I hate are those stupid pop ups telling me how popular an item is. Whose looking at it. How many blah in last hour!!!!
Really SLOWS down the shopping experience. Constantly closing them down with the X, missing it & then accidentally enlarging the photo. More clicks to get the photo back to normal size.

Prefer to use online rather than stress myself at the self service till which is rather annoying taking out alarm tags and literally doing cashier work when one is making a purchase.
I really do miss going to the shop and taking in the lovely atmosphere and touching the fabrics to see if quality is up to standard.

One flaw
This is a great app. Keep it updated to ensure the ‘back’ button works correctly. There is one flaw though. In womenswear, item descriptions don’t show the inside leg measurement for trousers. This is really frustrating and prevents me from purchasing. At 5ft 4 with a 33” inside leg, this is information I need prior to ordering!
I would’ve given 5 stars if it wasn’t for this problem.

Girls clothes
Far too many “cropped” hoodies and t shirts for young girls, it’s not appropriate and it’s a shame as I love Matalan for everything else, the quality and prices, I’d like to see more full length tops for girls under 16, as soon as you move away from infant sizes, I find the clothes far too old in style.

When filtering for more specified products it takes soooo long I got bored waiting and went back to the homepage where I’ve now realised after every time I try to filter for what I want to buy it causes the whole app to go mega slow for a while until closed completely and reopened
I love shopping in Matalan but might have to stick to the stores and ditch the app and online purchases for a while. It’s never done this before my internet is great every other app works perfectly
so it’s definitely the app in itself. Shame :(

I found online frustrating! Although I have joined as a member a long while ago my details were not accepted so I ordered as a guest! Also, every time I pressed back up I had to reset the page etc! I didn't know until today that there was a sale I was told by me daughter not notified by Matalan! Many of the items were already out of stock! Having said all of that I was pleased that my order will be ready for pickup tomorrow! I look forward to receiving it! I don’t know if there is a specific time that they will be ready for collection?

Hopeless
Round in circles trying to place an order. Gave up tried next day, same problem. Changed from free standard delivery to click and collect - which I did not want to do at all. Order accepted ! Why is there not a warning on there home free standard delivery unavailable ??? It would have saved me hours and hours of annoyance. Get bit sorted out! I don’t know if I’ll bother with Matalan on line ever again! It is a substantial order too.

2nd time lucky.
This is the second go at ordering a jacket. I paid the first one by Apple Pay. The money was taken but order never completed. I have spent the past two days plus, trying to get this resolved.
I have now waited 72hrs and no reply from Customer Services. I also called the CS and they sent an email for more info. Returned that with all Apple Pay info and still haven’t heard anything.
2nd time I tried as I really wanted jacket fri grandchild. I paid with card. This went through ok. Still awaiting confirmation of return of Apple Pay at this time.

On several occasions over some previous orders the website has crashed and told me there is nothing in my basket despite getting to the and seemingly paying via pay pal stage.
This time I’d spent over an hour filling my basket do n to be told my basket was empty upon entering my pay pal details. This has happened more than once and is extremely frustrating when you have spent time looking for what you want and have to hopefully remember it all to do it again

I am an elderly woman with mobility issues and find trying items on in fitting rooms difficult. I tend to buy online but, anything that doesn’t fit, I take into the Wishaw shop. The staff there are always so friendly and helpful and often go the extra mile to help me. Thank you to them all.

Frustrated at out of stock items
Items out of stock online which are available in-store but not not in my required size. Also really frustrated that items that are new in appear to be out of stock when they have just appeared online. This is common in the Et Vous clothing line.

Extremely annoying
This app is so annoying! Every time you want to have a look at an item, stupid signs come up saying ‘45 people have look at this item’ or ‘20 people have bought this item’ … it’s so irritating. They are right in the middle of what you want to look at!
I also always filter for size and in this app they either show you items they DON’T have in your size or they don’t even have it at all!!! Do better Matalan!

I am trying to buy three t shirts along with childrens clothes, the site doesn’t work, it only save what it wants to save, and won’t go to other departments. Why haven’t you left it how it was. I can’t go around your stores as I can’t walk around, I used to like matterlan previous, having revision on it now.

Hate your new Matalan website , I did my order was about to check out, and remembered I needed something else , so tried to add it but it would not let me , I’m not happy and won’t use this stupid website again , have used the one prior to this one for years , with no problems ,

Like the experience but
I like shopping online but the pop ups telling me how many people are looking etc are so annoying and get in the way when browsing. They do not make me want to buy an item and if anything, put me off the product.

Back button doesn’t work
Love the app and love the clothes. However I find it really annoying that when I click to view an item then click the back button it doesn’t take me to the previous page it actually wipes my search results and I have to reselect the section I was viewing and then scroll to the bottom and select the page number I was on to continue.
This makes for very frustrating browsing and I find myself not wanting to look at an item as I’ll lose where I was up to. It also takes a lot of time to keep doing this and it becomes a bit of a mission to get to the end of the section. Few times I’ve run out of time and patience.
Fix this and you will get more sales Matalan 👍

Very poor business
Bought items on line as the items I purchased would give me free delivery, items arrived in a satisfactory timescale, but 1 item was packaged as the incorrect size, even though the delivery note stated the size I wanted, so obviously I returned the item. Could not believe that I got invoiced extra as I had to pay for delivery due to my order now being less than the stated amount….due to your warehouse packing the wrong size! To add insult to injury, I emailed the customer services and that was over 6 months ago and still haven’t received a reply! Very poor service.

AVOID PAYING ON THE APP - ESPECIALLY APPLE PAY
Avoid paying on the app, take your money out of the account and take you back saying click and collect store you have selected is unavailable please try again. Go back to select it again and it goes through and received a confirmation. Turns out they took money out twice and customer service agrees this happened to more people. They didn’t even know what Apple Pay is. Kept mentioning PayPal.
I was advised I shall receive my money back within 48hours.
It has be 5 days.

Absolutely useless - Avoid
They don’t don’t send what you order and pay for. They send what they have. Not enough respect to contact a customer and ask them if they would like their money back because they don’t have what you ordered. No they just send any substitute going and hope you like it. Completely unacceptable in 2021. Apparently because they are cheap, you should also expect honesty and decency when using them. I thought those were a given. Silly me and won’t be shopping with them again.

Good app and order received!
App works perfectly fine. Ordered to collect at store and a delivery to my home. All orders arrived on time, clothes fit perfectly and staff were very polite at the store collection. I’m not saying other people haven’t had bad experiences, maybe I’m just lucky? 😂 But I’ll definitely continue to use this app and store based on my experience. 👍🏻💕

Worst shopping app I’ve ever used!
Recently I’ve tried to order a few outfits/ slippers but a lot of my items are automatically refunded to my account, it doesn’t have any reason it just said it was no longer in stock and I’ve also been sent the wrong item on one occasion, absolutely terrible, this has also happened to many people I know that also order from here, I’m never going to bother again it is pointless and much easier and quicker service on other apps 😤

Great app!
Love the app...so easy to browse and buy and the wish list feature is really handy. My only comment would be that sometimes items saved in the wish list suddenly disappear of their own accord. If that could be fixed that would be fantastic as it would mean you can revisit your saved items easily. Other than that, keep up the good work - thanks!

Do not trust
I ordered some clothes for my kids on 09-09–2020 paid £63 so received delivery notification that I should receive my order on 16-09 I was home and been waiting for the delivery on 16-09 as expecting to receive my order according to their order notification email but receive nothing ! I called matalan to find out why as I have been told the order not out yet for delivery yet there was a technical problem and they will be resend the order again . Had to call again following week again to see where my order is this time they told me we are very sorry there is a technical with the order and they have to cancel the order .gad knows how long i have to wait for a refund . NOT HAPPY AT ALL . Please be aware.

Worst service ever. Do not trust. Don’t want to refund even after agreeing goods didn’t arrive
I ordered clothes and paid £83 on 12/8. I received notice of delivery for Wednesday 19/8 then confirmed between 1-5 on 20/8. Home all day didn’t arrive. Emailed Matalan as Hermes showing not delivered still on 25/8. Phoned Matalan and was told I would get an email end of the week. 1/9 phoned as no answer was told parcel list so would refund ( had to wait 17 minutes on the phone to get through ). 7/9 still no refund so phoned again - another 10 minutes of holding only to be told there had been a glitch my refund would be through straight away. 8/9 still no refund so have instructed my bank to pursue it. I have never been treated so badly. No responses. False promises. No trust. Never again !!!!! Think twice before ordering from this shambles.

Woah..!
Downloaded the app and I was looking forward to doing some online shopping but gave up after 10 minutes as I found the app too ‘busy’ with too much info on each page I went to. When I clicked on a particular item I found it incredibly annoying to have the 2 messages pop up in front saying “457 people are looking at this right now” and “purchased 63 times in the last hour”!! I don’t care! It doesn’t add anything to my shopping experience ! It just annoyed me enough for me to go look at another online store.

I would just like to say how pleased I was with the efficiency and courtesy care all members of staff showed today especially the young man outside making sure Corona social distancing was understood by every customer that entered the shop and the guidelines on the floor were excellent along with the staff on the tills a pleasant experience as always but especially in these difficult times

Needs a wish list!
Its a really good app and makes it easy to purchase items but seriously needs a wish list where you can save items you’re interested in. Every other shopping app I’ve downloaded has one so don’t understand why they wouldn’t have added it 😕 but apart from that its easy to use and works well 👍🏼 would have been 5 stars with the wish list!

Wish list
It’s a good app, easy to browse and stuff but it really needs a wish list or something that allows you to save items without putting them in the basket. For example if I wanted to buy just one of the items in my basket that I had saved then I would have to individually remove each item from the basket and then find them again to add them.

Fab app!
This app is great, really easy to navigate around and the search function is really quick and relevant. Also loved the way the items stayed in the basket until the next time (if I was having an indecisive moment!) and I could just add to it and check out at my leisure.

What a fantastic update thank you Matalan!
This is a brilliant update to the previous app. I can now shop within the app without being bounced out to the mobile web. Also, my reward card details are remembered so I don’t have to keep logging in each time - thank you! I’m really looking forward to what’s coming next as I’ve noticed in one of your responses to another review that you now have a roadmap for app development! Please include barcode scanner and the ability to ‘save’ my favourites. I’m a happy shopper now!
