No option to remove free gifts

I wish there was an option to remove free gifts from the basket because quite often the gift added I have an allergy to, almond oil or niacinamide. I don’t want that in my package. It adds extra weight to packages too, please let people have a choice.

Glitchy as hell

If I could give negative stars, I would. This app is incredibly glitchy, and the in-store staff were no help at all. They just gave me a number to call and said there was nothing they could do, insisting the problem was with my phone rather than the app itself. Really disappointing experience.

Eh, mixed opinions.

The app itself is easy to use and has pretty much everything you could ask for at retail price, earning advantage points is great too - but whenever something is ordered on next day delivery, it doesn’t actually come next day. Instead it arrives within 2 days sometimes even 3.

Unresponsive App

Unable to register my Advantage card having tried numerous times. The app is very slow to respond and the bar with ‘next’ on doesn’t react at all to being touched and it hides the fields that need to be completed. Have emailed Boots and waiting for a reply, but hopes remedy is on the way!

Paying £10 in travel to return a £5 broken item? Hilarious

Ordered from Boots online and the product arrived smashed/leaking. Even though the courier marked it as 'damaged,' Boots customer service refused a refund unless I spent my own time and money traveling to a physical store. The bus/petrol would cost more than the product itself! Their logic is a joke. I’ve deleted my account and I'm taking my 'loyalty' to a store that understands basic math and customer rights. Avoid their online shop at all costs.

Disappointed in the app

Slow to load pages. Not intuitive The website is much easier to use than the app. Didn’t link to my advantage card the first time I used it, I had to phone up to get it sorted. It did not add the 3X advantage card points that was in my Boots email even though I loaded the offer, it gave me 2X points instead. Although I did get another offer as well so that was a bonus. A shame the app does not load full page like other shopping apps do ie M&S, it only loads a phone size on my iPad. Would much prefer to use website but it does not link with advantage card.

Shockingly poor

Tried to order for a delivery using my PayPal account because I didn’t have my card with me at the time. The transaction didn’t work in the app but the connection to PayPal went through to a temporary holding state. I tried to go through the AI assistant to resolve the failed transaction and got nowhere. Has been impossible to get through to Boots and I don’t think attempting to do another order without discussion from Boots would be sensible

Why?

Why every time I go to sign in to this app does it tell me I’ve put in incorrect info . I have password locked into memory & l know my own email address (really I do !! ) . Shocking website

Absolutely shocking website. The website is so slow it allows you to add items to your basket which are out of stock which end you proceeded to check out the amount of products that you cannot find following specific searches is ridiculous.
On a number of occasions you have to look back in as it won’t trigger your Boots points on this occasion I went the hallway through the £4 worth of points was added and then then when I went to check out it came up and said only £4 of points was given which was the equivalent amount of points to my £40 spend so lost out on £4 because the system is shocking
£10 Tuesday is not advertised anywhere on the app which makes it extremely difficult to navigate, especially considering you cannot seem to check out on the online web version and that app is supposed to be better.
There’s no contact us and I’m finding it difficult now to write feedback because of feedback page doesn’t even work properly so really need some work this app especially considering the lights look fantastic. Marks And Spencer are so much easier to use plus you can check out in three clicks and boot is about 25 before you can actually check out and pay which is shocking.
I would recommend speaking to customers and finding out what other apps they use and modelling some of them because otherwise no one will be ordering from be because it’s physically impossible to get to the checkout quickly.

Massive and established company but app is absolutely awful

How come company as big and as established like Boots have such a bad app. Can’t log it to it says that I’ve used incorrect password to many times then I’m trying to reset the password and telling me I can’t use the same password????? Okay so I’ve change it ( apparently successfully) then I go back to log in again and the message immediately comes up that says you’ve entered the incorrect password to many times? At this point I’m loosing it!! Tried to speak with some agent/ bot nooo this company only accept phone calls. I’m so sorry but how far behind this company is amongst it’s competitors when it comes to resolving issues and in general overall performance of the app. Boots it’s one of the biggest make up stores etc. in uk how come the app seems like it’s been made in 2 hours by some chat gpt command. Omg don’t even wanna start how slow and not intuitive the app is. Boots have so much products yet it the algorithm will not bring you similar products that you looking at. They loosing on so much money!!! I’m just a girl I’m a shopaholic if you would make me believe that I need some primer with my foundation I would probably fall for it. Get a grip and sort out your app cuz it’s a joke. I’ve never ever wrote a review before but this app made me loose my mind to the point that I’m doing it at 2am instead of sleeping.

Annoying slow app that doesn’t suit a mobile device, which is annoying when Boots itself is good!

Very unintuitive app that won’t even let you do standard iOS things like swiping back a page which is extra annoying and time consuming on a Pro Max. It looks like a website masquerading as an app that is super slow to load most of the time and doesn’t have the same features like a lot of other stores have, like making lists or just saving things in your basket for another day.
What’s worse is they ask you constantly for feedback which I’ve now given many times and nothing has changed. Same with cookies and privacy settings which I’m asked to reset every time I use the app which may be on purpose so you eventually give in and just let them track your purchases. No dark mode either although they’re not exactly alone with that but still some more options other than white would be nice although I get it’s part of their branding.
Lastly I’ve had a lot of glitches that have cost me a lot of time to fix. Things like loosing a basket after a crash, logging me out during a doctor / prescription service thing and having to start over especially after not being allowed to upload photos intended to showcase skin problems and having to take an inferior photo on the spot through a camera instead of an upload. Not having my points card working correctly or loading to my phone wallet and then them actually ending up giving me two accounts by accident that took them ages to merge on the phone. There’s more too but I can’t think right now but hopefully they fix this soon because otherwise I like Boots just not the process of ordering through the app…

The NEW Boots Disadvantage Card

Really sad to find myself writing this review, but as a Boots customer for years, I have been so disappointed with my last (and surely the Last) shopping experience.
I usually buy my toiletries at Boots NOT for the good price, but because of the great Advantages we used to get with the Advantage Card. My yearly routine was to use my points to pay the LRP Toleriane on the 3 for 2 deal. I really enjoyed saving up my points and it made the whole year worth of buying because I could get this treat.
My points always covered the purchase, but with prices going up this is no longer the case. I thought okay fair enough, I will pay the difference, but as it turns out, now I cannot use my points to part pay for the 3 for 2 LRP cleansers.
Sadly I had to find other products to spend my points on, even if I didn’t really need those products. So I went to the shop, chose some products, but it turns out again, that I cannot pay with the points again. The card, the account, for whatever reason has gliched and is not working anymore.
THANKS A LOT BOOTS, BUT NO, I WILL NEVER RETURN AS A CUSTOMER. There are plenty of other websites and shops where I can get the products I need for better prices. I will buy there since the Advantage Card is no longer and Advantage.

This app needs a lot of improvement

I am a long-standing, loyal Boots customer, but this app needs a serious overhaul.
Firstly, the whole point of using the app over the website is that it should remember me, but I have to sign in every time I use it.
Then: I searched for a product and found it immediately - fantastic. Added it to my basket. Saw another lovely product advertised and went to buy it and that is where all the issues began: no product information on the product (selected from the Offers section); then the product page hung when I tried to add it to my basket (I am using an Apple iPhone 12 on a fast internet connection). Ditched purchasing the product and went to pay for my original item, to find that my basket had been cleared (after 5min!?).
I came back to the app a little while later to try again and had a similarly frustrating experience - painfully slow page load times or just a page hanging with the loading icon.
I eventually gave up and went and bought my items from a different store.
Boots is a national retail icon and I like the products I can buy there which is the only reason I persevered in purchasing from the app today. I also like getting the Advantage Card points. But other retailers are getting extremely good at e-commerce and Boots is going to have to improve this experience in a hurry or risk losing online customers. Come on guys, do better, I want you to succeed.

2024?

How is it 2024 and there is still apps like this. You would swear this app has not changed since 2015. It is extremely slow to load along with many other extremely frustrating faults. I decided today that instead of using the website i would download the app (first mistake). When I FINALLY got to the checkout, after spending 10 minutes trying to set up an ‘advantage’ card (which was taking £3 off my final total), and a further 20 minutes watching my screen load (my wifi is perfectly fine) the app decided to begin to load, yet again when I clicked ‘check out’. At this point I lost patience and went out of the app and then back in. Where were the contents of my basket? No where to be seen. I then tried for a further 15 minutes to get to the checkout again, to find my advantage card would not even work. Please for the love of god Boots, invest HEAVILY in your app. I am not one to EVER write reviews on apps but this called for complaint. I have ordered off the website before and all was perfectly fine so I just don’t understand why the app is so poor.

I prefer boots for a lot of reasons

Yes I do prefer boots , I can get whatever I want especially specific brands , other pharmacies do not stock or even large department stores don’t stock a variety of cosmetics, perfumes, all different creams and lotions, also boots always have a good selection of ladies toiletries and gents, the female section is really good, I do buy baby and now toddlers clothing, which I find different which I like, and of coarse the staff are always so helpful, especially I am a lady of a certain age and I have always been treated like a person of a younger version, I like that, lots of stores have closed in this dark time for for some people but please boots don’t close any of yours as I will as many people would miss your stores so much , I thank you. Birthday present

Good afternoon I ordered some perfume for my husbands birthday. I picked my order up today and when I opened the box at home the perfume had been opened. There were finger marks all over the opening . I was shocked because I expected it to be sealed in cellophane. With it came a free gift of 15ml perfume which I knew my husband would love for holidays etc. I took it straight back to the store where I picked it up and the assistant just immediately refunded me without offering a solution. I then asked to speak to a manager who was very polite . She said I could have a replacement at the same price but no free gift of the 15 ml perfume . She offered me a bag that was a gift in store with a different perfume . To say I was disappointed was an understatement. The offer on line was still on but without the free gift . I would have thought at the price I paid she would have let met have the free perfume along with the replacement. I noticed they were just put in a basket under the counter marked returns or faulty ! Didn’t feel like the amount I had paid for the perfume was valued . I have shopped with Boots most of my life and I thought I would have had a better experience with more sympathy. The perfume was Aqua do Gio eau de parfum 75ml . The free gift was the same but 15ml .

Doesn't work for the visually impaired

I am visually impaired and use the VoiceOver feature built into iOS on my Apple iPhone XR. This feature allows visually impaired users to use their smart phone in this case Apple devices. I tried the app about four years ago and found it virtually unusable for the visually impaired, now I'm trying it again and find things have barely changed. Where it does work with VoiceOver it appears to me that is just a fluke and no thought has been put into the design to enable this to work for visually impaired users. There are frequently buttons which VoiceOver says are buttons but with no indication of what the button does or the action it performs. There are buttons which say things like cross grey which mean nothing to me whatsoever. The tab bar along the bottom of the screen doesn't work at all. It is stuck on the home tab and it is not possible to select any of the other tabs. It doesn't seem to support dark mode which is very useful for some visually impaired people. It may be that dark mode can be changed in settings but as I am unable to use the tab bar or the top but doesn't work this is not possible. It is extremely disappointing that a company such as Boots has not fully developed an app that is fully accessible, not just for visually impaired users but perhaps also for hearing impaired and motion impaired users.

Boots Review

I was concerned that my points were going to be taken from my account because I have been in hospital for two operations and have not been able to drive. The “for life” does not apply according to a memo I received from Boots so I asked someone to go to boots for me while I sat outside in the car. I tried ringing several times and after being told which number to press 1-5 for help and sitting on the phone several times when nobody answered I gave up. I then found that your HELP PHONE MESSAGE was the same as ‘for life’ message and not reliable. Your telephone number was not correct you had a different number.
Then my helper could not get my Johnson’s baby moisturiser you don’t have any and had to make a phone call to me to choose an alternative. I am sorry to say that you are going down the pan. How very disappointing for a company we all depended on when I was a girl, new mum, housewife, and now old lady. It just showed me that the world of shopping is coming to an end which is a dreadful shame because we all like going to shops to choose from shelves. My helper told me that a lot of the shelves were empty. Does that mean you are about to close soon!

Terrible app

Not loading, some sort of maintenance would help and maybe take some feedback from the reviews; it’ll save you a lot of negative feedback in the future as well as calls. App is not loading whatsoever and despite the offers added on to the card, it likes to take the money but not give points. It’s just better to go in store and double check it with cashier to confirm if points have gone on to the card after you’ve made a purchase. Fix your app and take the feedback - until then I’ll shop elsewhere as this is clearly becoming a nightmare. Oh and I forgot to mention, website is as bad maybe worse as at least I can log into the app and see my card. I can’t even log in when I go on the website so pretty useless as one: it won’t load anything anyway, 2: I can’t log in and 3: I don’t want to have to spend 2 hours trying to add 5 things into my basket when shopping online is supposed to be quicker and hassle free. You need to spend resources on your app and website which will put less stress on people in the office as I’m sure it’s not their fault they’re getting calls from us everyday telling them how bad the app is and not doing what it’s supposed to!

Improved!

OLD REVIEW: Most unusable app ever! I love shopping at boots and it’s the first place I go to but what is going on with this app!! For such a big company, I’d expect more. It doesn’t even meet the minimum most basic standard of an app. The app is so painfully slow, whatever you press it just takes ages for anything to load up. The most infuriating part is it logs you out every time you go off the app, even for just a second, it will log you out. The ‘remember password’ checkbox doesn’t even remember it so you have to re-enter it every single time. I am trying to do some Christmas shopping, saving things to my wish list while browsing, go off the app for 1 second and it will reset back to the homepage, log me out, and I have to log back in, find the page I was on again before I can carry on browsing. When I look at my favourites list, or browsing through products, there is no ‘view next page’ button at the bottom and you have to scroll all the way back up to the top to do this. Every boots store I’ve been in doesn’t have phone /WiFi signal so if you want to open up the app while in store to use your advantage card, check for offers or check your wish list, it simply does not load making the app completely useless. Please fix this!!

So slow!!

Of any retailer I’ve ever shopped online via an app, Boots 100% has to be the slowest. Every input takes far longer than it should to register, it can be really frustrating when trying to place an order. I’ve also had issues when it comes to using my points to pay. For some reason during checkout my student discount gets removed and if I don’t have enough points to cover without the discount then I can’t place the order. I spoke to customer services and they said to remove an item so the amount of points I had would cover it and they would refund the points that the student discount would have taken off after. Not an ideal solution and it makes it impossible to purchase a single item if I don’t have enough points to cover without the student discount applied.
The “load” feature for advantage card offers is unnecessary, I don’t understand why offers aren’t automatically loaded onto your advantage card? I assume it’s so Boots can avoid awarding a good deal of points as I’m sure a lot of people forget to load their offers.
However, the offers themselves are often good and usually they are quite personalised towards things you actually buy. And most months you get a double points offer or a spend X amount and receive X worth of points.

Boots - come on!! You’re so much better than this app!!!

I buy online from Boots a lot (too much lol) barely a week goes by that I don’t buy things. The app causes me constant frustration in SO many ways! I can’t understand why I have to “load” an advantage card offer and then click “shop” before I get the offer. For example I like to buy the Tuesday £10 deals (most weeks I buy 2+ items) and want to use the offer of 400 points when spending £20 but if I add the items I want to buy to my basket first, then load the offer, I don’t get the 400 points - why?? It’s so frustrating and I don’t get this same experience with other competitors online apps (lookfantastic app for example, the app actively helps you to not miss offers or points).
I find it so annoying too that product photos are such bad quality!! Why when I zoom in on a photo of something I want to buy do I just get a blurry image! So annoying!!
Finally, when I add items to my basket and then want to actually revisit them before I checkout (maybe the description or size details) I can’t just click on the item in my basket!!! I have to search for the item again to look at it. Absolutely rubbish!
I’ve also found on countless occasions that the description doesn’t actually state the size of the item (for example a facial toner, nowhere does it state how many ml, and as you cannot see a clear image when zooming in on the product photos it’s a total mystery) in these situations you lose my custom every time as I cannot be bothered to buy an item from you when you cannot be bothered to give me the basic info I need.
BOOTS you’re a great retailer, and I love your products, special offers etc. You are being absolutely let down by your app though!

App takes money but doesn’t process your order

Wish I could give 0 stars. This is the second time this has happened now. The first time was several months ago so can’t believe this glitch hasn’t been sorted. When you put items in your basket then pay, the order confirms as normal, bank takes the money and then if refreshes and the items are stuck in your basket. No way of getting them out without deleting everything. No order confirmation via email and not showing in your past orders. Last time customer service just shrugged and said it’s sort itself in 5 working days and the money is pending from the bank not taken. Yes but my balance is still minus that amount until it clears isn’t it! No apology at all. I actually ended up waiting several weeks for it to resolve, each time I called it was, oh another 5 days. So ridiculous for a company of this size. Poor customer service and a glitch that still isn’t fixed months later. Do better. Not shopping online here again.

Worse app ever

Firstly, when you click at a oroduct sometimes it takes you yo the page of the seller! Then you want to go back and it dirs not. Second there is no possibility to look at the title of a product fully as it is cut halfway in the icons. Third you can not change this so that you can see the title if a product. Forth, you click in is £10 offer on points once you order £60 worth of product but then it takes you to irrelevant pages and no explanation whether it is all products you can order from. Fifth, I ordered over £60 worth of products but the order was not automatically applied, I also had over £20 double points worth of points I tried to claim and that did not wirk either same for the over £30 double points. Sixth. I placed an order of between 13-18 items in different occasions and it keeps throwing me out saying about internal checks at the check out and then cancels my basket! I have no time for this. Trying to pay for over 40 min now! After over an hour circling your system and app about payments it is A JOKE thinking this works. to place order a number of times.

Spent hours trying to make online order

App was very slow to add items to basket. I was trying to be patient with it for “ease,” but ended up using laptop to make payment as it took over 3 hours from em beginning to order to making *some* of my order. App good for letting you know available offers etc., but is painfully slow. I had some offers which expired at midnight on my advantage card and began the process by 9pm. I managed to buy some items, but I had to halve my basket. I closed everything and made sure to “accept cookies,” which seemed to help. I still can’t get some of the items to be processed… and as it’s past midnight some of my offers have expired. I’m stubborn and didn’t think it would take so long, and was determined to use them!
Disappointed with user experience, had similar in general online so might be a problem with the website in general? I’ve had issues with Boots website before. Really annoying for the online-only offers :(

Hard to use for online shopping but great for offers in store

Great features and offers, if you can get it to work! Unfortunately the app is slow and full of strange glitches. Items selected for the basket mysteriously disappear and have to be re-selected, then mysteriously re-appear, risking multiple purchases by accident. Payment link to PayPal doesn’t connect. Returning to the basket often means starting again or re-selecting now-missing items. Often you have to wait a long time for pages to load. I have tried using this app to purchase online over many years and it is always a frustrating experience, which usually ends up with me abandoning the attempt. Not ideal during a pandemic, when you would really prefer not to go to physical shops. In an actual store the app is good for showing you special offers and allowing you to load discount vouchers. Some of the problems may be caused by all the tracking software built into every page.

Money taking from bank and order didn’t go through…

Placed an order on the boots app on the 6th of December, the money was taking from my bank but the items stayed in the shopping basket and I didn’t get a confirmation email and my order wasn’t showing up in my orders.. so I contacted boots a few days later to enquire about this as I still hasn’t received a confirmation email and nothing was showing on my app, to be told from a member of the team that they can assure me money wasn’t taking from my bank as this doesn’t happen unless the sale goes through even though in the same email they said the money would be back in my bank between 1-8 days, I sent a screen shot of my bank statement showing that it did in-fact come out of my bank it’s been 5 days now and I’ve had nothing go back into my bank to which they haven’t responded.. I’m not sure if boots think people are sitting very comfortable this Christmas but I can assure them I’m not and this money is for gifts for one of my three children’s Christmas’s.. which if I leave it much longer could all be out of stock or not have enough time to re order! Very unsatisfied customer.

Probably the worst shop app out there

Slow and constantly glitching, logs you out on a whim, won’t let you log in to PayPal and sends you round in circles, doesn’t save your card info, offers sometimes don’t apply even though they should, sometimes they apply but then you go to your basket to checkout and they have disappeared for no reason, search function is awful and long-winded, identical products shown more than once in the search results but at different prices, the same product changes prices between one click/screen to the next…
The only good bit is the Advantage Card offers and digital card, but even that is slow, and you cannot access the terms and conditions of the offers through the app - you have to go onto your browser and type in the web address, and then find that sometimes the offer reference number on the app doesn’t match the terms and conditions for that offer on the website.

Blank page basket

Every single time I put items in my basket & leave them there (I have a child so will pick up and put down my devices throughout the day), the basket page is always just blank. Plain blank white screen. The basket fails to load, and I can do nothing! I try to log in via the browser, it says basket is empty so I add the products again, the corner count icon changes to recognise both previous products and new additions, and then the basket fails to load, showing me a white screen AGAIN. This has happened to me so many times, I have sat for hours in the evening attempting to checkout & eventually I give up and switch to another retailer. It is the most frustrating thing, and if I didn’t have so many advantage points to spend I probably would never attempt to order anything from boots ever again. I have reported this multiple times from the app, given feedback so many times, and it doesn’t change - every update seems to still have the same issue. Please fix this!

Customer Service

I have been trying for approximately 5 months to sort my advantage card problem. I had a card registered on the app then purchased a new phone and the app had to be downloaded again. My card details were on the app and all was fine. Then one day in store when I didn’t have my phone with me I was given a physical card to get points on a fairly large amount purchase and was advised to add this new card to my app and then everything went wrong I could not register the card. I then got 4 points for purchases rather than 8 and I could no longer use the old registered digital card and although I could accrue points on my physical card because I could not get it registered I could not use the points in any purchase. I spent a huge amount of time trying to contact customer services by phone and e mail to no avail. In store colleagues were sympathetic but could not help. So my points are wrong, customer services are never ever available and when I spend my points I think I will never buy anything in Boots again. Always believed Boots was an excellent company but now would not recto anyone because of Customer Service. It s non existent

Medication’s, Cosmetics and a snack Meal no fuss no bother!

I love the fact that my Surgery sends my Repeat Prescriptions direct to Boots Pharmacy when they are due and I get a text telling me they are ready for collection. I’m slightly disabled and this helps enormously as I know they will be ready and waiting!
I also get my Incontinent pads from Boots therefore they are collected on the same visit and whilst I’m there I do a bit of what I call “happy shopping” I love wearing make up so I will pick up a new lipstick, eye makeup perhaps and I try all the new or old forgotten perfumes from the testers and walk out smelling really gorgeous. Ive often been stopped in a shop and asked what perfume I’m wearing on many occasions after I’ve been in Boots, my last call is at their refrigerator where I cannot resist their sandwich and coke such an easy lunch or even an early evening meal.
Quite honestly what more could a lady want than a visit to Boots! You get it all under one roof!

Pretty good!

The Boots App is wonderful for browsing for new makeup, or going over your skincare routine. Unlike other stores, they have made their app development a priority, which can be seen through the meticulous design, and easy-to-use interface. Overall, fabulous for finding items quickly, and keeping track of what you’re buying.
The only reason why I am allocating this app four stars however, is that even though the icons look lovely, sometimes they may not function as they should. There is a slow response to the pressing of buttons, and the system can take its time to load. While this may be due to the user’s own issues, sometimes the app struggles to cope, even with a completely full service bar and strong Wi-Fi. Therefore, while this app is good for browsing, be weary of (sometimes) slow response times.
Other than that, if you love Boots, this app is for you. You can track your spending, and easily find new products! After refreshing, the app can work just fine, so it may not be as irksome as it seems. Enjoy!

I don’t usually write reviews but I feel compelled to after using this app in the hope the customer experience team at Boots read them.
The app works fine (although sometimes very slow) for the advantage card but the recent integration with e-commerce is very poor. The navigation between the app and online shopping is not clear, and you can’t see your basket until you search for a product (which I guess takes you off to a separate system as they don’t seem to work well together). Once you’ve decided to checkout the basket lags behind your actions which is very frustrating, and is particularly bad when to alternate between paying with points and paying by card.
Finally, when I had to switch to my online banking app the verify the purchase at checkout, when I returned to the Boots app, I was directed back to the app homepage and the basket had been abandoned with no trace in ‘my orders’ yet the money had been taken from my bank account.
Come on Boots, it’s 2022, you can do better than this!

Useless - do not download.

I placed an order for delivery in-store - because it was the quickest way and I was self isolating. Even after a week it wasn't delivered. I had asked a friend to go and collect it for me twice which was very embarrassing. I phoned Boots for an explanation and they said it was ‘lost’. They offered me a refund - which would take 5 to 7 days to process, or to ‘resend’ my order (a process I was hardly inclined to trust!). When I pointed out that they would have held my money for two weeks with no goods delivered they just kept repeating the same choices. I opted for the refund and asked to make a formal complaint. They ‘put me through! but the person I spoke to said they represented customer services for the stores and had nothing to add. I was left with an impasse. Now to add insult to injury I have received an email saying they can’t process my refund and asking me to phone. When I tried the number had a 40 min waiting time and I could not get through to speak to anyone. And they are still fraudulently holding my money. Do not shop with Boots Online.

Worst app ever

Don’t normally review apps but this one is so bad in so many ways felt I needed to give feedback. Don’t understand all the good reviews as every time I use this (and have been trying for a good year or two now as really want it to work!) it’s really frustrating, time consuming and full of errors. Compared to a lot of other high street stores that have great apps, streamlined and user friendly this one doesn’t make sense. Having to load offers, moving from home to shopping screens, items mysteriously disappearing and reappearing in basket, app freezing for long periods of time, taking ages to load anything, bringing up two details even though being updated, and not applying all the offers loaded onto card!! If ordering a few things you can just about put up with it as more convenient than popping into town but i quite often want to do a bulk order of things but end up abandoning it as it’s so painful and puts me off shopping with them. I would spend a lot more money with Boots if they would just sort their app out!!

A pain to use!

Possibly the most frustrating shopping app to use in existence! I don’t even write reviews but I took the time to come here because I’m a regular shopper at Boots and this is just outrageous. First of all it’s SUPER slow. Sometimes the screen just goes blank. When you first open the app there’s no search button just my advantage card. Like why does that need to be the first thing I see?? I want to SHOP! The search bar is a pain to get to because of how slow it is. ALSO I keep getting logged out! Even when I tick the ‘Remember Me’ box, it continues to log me out. Usually when I log in from my laptop and then switch back to my phone but also every time the app resets. I should be able to switch between shopping on my laptop or phone without having to go through the agony of logging back in, especially when it takes me 5 mins to even get to the log in screen. Such a poor app and needs complete development. Take a hint from like every other shopping app on the market and FIX IT.

Terrible app!

I cannot recommend the Boots app. I have persevered with it because I cannot go out to shop but it is completely unreliable. When I used it last, my mother’s address appeared as the default delivery address ( I did once order things for her). I changed it back to my address but it kept flipping back to my mother’s. After 10 minutes of this, I managed to get it to say that it would deliver to me. After checkout, to my horror, the message said it was going to my mother, who lives 70 miles away. I immediately contacted Boots and tried to cancel the order. They said it was not possible so I would have to take a 140 mile journey during lockdown to pick up the parcel. My mother is housebound so couldn’t return it for me.... and I needed the products in the parcel.
In addition to this, I have yet to get the points offers even though they are loaded onto my card and I click through the offer in the app. Do not use this app!!!

Fix the photo pop up please!!!!!!

This is driving me insane! Every product I click on a pop up appears on each photo that says ‘double tap the image to zoom in’. It takes forever to disappear while you wait to see the image!! It is awful! Common sense - click the image! No other website does that! I just want to view the colour options for makeup and end up looking elsewhere in frustration! I never ever even write app reviews but I just got so frustrated there trying to order makeup I’ve come on here to voice that. Apart from that - good app. Use my advantage card whenever I’m in boots and collect points and save them up to use for a wee beauty treat. App is great to easily see and load up my offers - remember the days of standing at the wee machine in store to load on my offers. But please - remove that pop-up!!! I keep leaving the site and going to other beauty sites where I can properly quickly see the images and end up buying from them instead.

Could be better

I got the Boots app because I went to place an order on the website and it recommended it for more points etc. All went well until I wanted to check out. First of all I was unable to pay using my card because each time I clicked on the drop down box to select a card type, it just flashed open and then immediately closed again. I then selected the PayPal tab and paid that way (although it failed to log me in the first time I tried). When I had paid I received a PayPal message saying I could close the tab at any time, but it wasn’t a tab. I clicked “back” and received a button saying “back to merchant”, which took me to a blank page. My basket at this point still said it had 7 items in but when I clicked on that it was actually empty. No confirmation page, order number or anything. There seems to be no way to access account details such as order history on the app so I ended up going to the website just to check the order had gone through. I won’t be in a hurry to use this app again.

Could be so useful, but so badly made

This really is a well conceptualised app - but what is wrong with it?!?!
It’s incredibly slow. You click on ‘go back’ and it can take 5-10 seconds for it to happen. But then sometimes it doesn’t, because somehow not every touch registers; and you click again and the next 10 seconds wait begins.
Then why on Earth are the long brand names in the the front in a huge font, but not the item description, because there is no more space left for it? L’Oréal something something range... and space has run out. To find out whether it’s a shampoo or conditioner I’m looking at, I actually need to open the item (10 seconds) and then go back (10 seconds wait, as always) - because obviously there is also no image zoom in or any form of preview function.
Hair color - seriously, you have individual colors listed as individual products, with the color name at the very end of a long SKU title, which doesn’t fit into the grid view? Right now I have to open 20-30 product pages to identify the color I need - because there is also no way to remember which one one has already opened, as they all look the same... why on Earth can’t you have it listed as One product (which it is) with a drop down menu for color?
Anyhow. This is an awfully unpleasant shopping experience. I’ve lost my cool with it twice by now, and just went to the shop instead.

The good the bad and the ugly

The good - great functionality for adding offers to your advantage card and relevant offers too
The bad - shopping on the app/ website is really hard work it’s clunky, hard to find products and kicks you out a lot. Doesn’t save stuff so if you want to go back to something you start the whole process again
The ugly - the product range needs cleaning up in many areas - one example the clarins cream I use is listed 3 times one in stock that creates an error when you try and buy it and twice out of stock with different reviews attached to each. No request notification to tell you when it’s in stock like most websites or apps of what you would expect from boots standard.
Last update to the app was 8 months ago which shows how much they don’t focus on improving it. In short good but could be a lot better!

Terrible Service

Very bad delivery service experience. Waited 5 weeks for delivery - 3 weeks because of the current climate, a further 2 weeks delay. Eventually got through to someone in customer service to be told that Boots had decided to cancel my order & that they weren’t at liberty to notify me. Asked to speak to a Supervisor to make a formal complaint & was assured somebody would ring me in 72 hours - I’m still waiting & its been nearly 2 weeks (in total nearly 7 weeks from when I placed original order which took 3 days to get on the system to place the order in the first place). A very horrible experience both on the Boots app & by the Customer Service dept from a customer who has spent a fortune over the years in your store.

Great loyalty card shame about shopping online

I’ve always been a big boots fan, and have since introduction had a loyalty card; my favourite loyalty card, seems to quickly build up points, easy to see value in £s, and seems to give far more points than other retail shops. Frequently have pints to treat myself with.
I don’t have a problem loading offers on my card, find it helpful as it reminds of offers to take up, and yes does seem to take account of what you shop for.
So the loyalty card area of the app is great and quite quick.
Sadly same can’t be said of the shopping side of the app. It’s slow to load (nothing to do with my WiFi speed or device memory, both are high).
It seems very buggy, in the search area where to carry out a new search you have to come back out to the initial start of the app to do a new search, over typing an existing search with what you’re looking for, takes your typing but when you search it reverts to the previous search.
When you pull up the displayed list of products to buy, it’s slow to take you into the product details, and then when you want to return to the list of products, rather than returning to the last item you viewed on the list (like other sites) it takes you right back to the start of the list, annoying that you then have to scroll down past things you’ve already seen to get to where you wanted to be.
The good point on the app is it does allow me to order goods which aren’t stocked in my local boots easily & use PayPal to pay, delivery is pretty quick to store and it’s convenient to just go in and pick up.
So if the shopping screens were improved and speeded up, be a great useful app.

Mrs. Collingham has found a friend in Boots.

What a reliable friend my local Boots has become. I have my surgery send my prescription renewals electronically to them and they text me when it is ready to be picked up. I have also benefitted from good advice from the pharmacist when I was staggering about with a sudden illness, labyrinthitis. I did not know what was happening when the world was tilting around me, but she did and recommended a medication in tablet form, usually taken for sea sickness. It worked well. How wide and skilled they are at Boots. Help and advice is freely given with a smile. The staff know me and remember me so I go to them for flu injections, optical checks and many other services, not to forget my holiday and Christmas shopping for gifts. I look forward to visiting my reliable friends again next week.

Boots, The High Street Elgin IV 30

One of my favourite shops in Elgin. I am a ‘regular shopper’ and always collect medicines from the pharmacy. The shop is bright and welcoming and the staff are always smartly dressed, smiling, friendly and helpful. I have got to know most of them by name and always get a cheery wave. As a diabetic and someone who has suffered ill health in my old age I rely on the pharmacy staff to assist me with the supply of the regular medications prescribed by my GP. The Boots brand and staff provide me with the confidence and advice that my requests will be met or alternatives given. I have always been treated as a valuable customer and recognise the excellent service that is consistently provided. I enjoy the rewards card scheme along with the discount promotions and various 3 for 2 offers. As a local businessman I acknowledge the benefits of excellent customer care and Boots do it well.

Boots nhs repeat prescription online - needs so much work!!

Well this new nhs repeat prescription service online is a step in the right direction, but with so many flaws!
First, it’s is difficult switching between multiple people (I order for my whole family, 4 people). This is dangerous because items can unintentionally be ordered for the wrong person. I am careful so this is unlikely, but the potential is there. To switch, you have to click boots logo, but this isn’t obvious at all!!
There is no option to change email address, you have to deactivate and start again, losing patient history of ordered meds.
There is no option to add medication on standby in bag to order at a later date. I am just trying to set it up for my family (don’t need ordering now, but later) so now I have to wait to add med details in until it is time to order instead of it being pre-populated.
There is no updates as advertised (request sent to gp, approved by gp, packing meds etc). The only notification I got was order received and order ready to collect. And can’t view this on the service online.
Also when ordering once set up, you have to go through all the details again. Why isn’t there a function to remember basic details like gp practice, chosen pharmacy of collection, exemption status etc. This drags out the process for each person. This is important to add in, there should just be an option to change details if needed.
Otherwise, app looks sleek and again a step in the right direction. Please fix the above flaws that stick out like a sore thumb!!

Advantage card Magic!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went to my local Boots yesterday purchased a few things and the assistant checked my Points and I was over the moon when told I had accumulated nearly £50⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I preceded to tell the assistant that last Christmas I had purchased several 3 for 2 pressies and bought myself- on behalf of my husband of course loll Olympea By Paco rabanne gift set which is a fab smelling perfume, therefore accumulating loads of points think there may have been a double points event around that time. Then recently went on hols but before hand popped into my same local Boots in Netherfield Notts, needed travel items including boots Mosquito repellent and got some great advise how to best use it which worked a treat!!! So as well as well advised staff I have over £50 which I will be saving towards more Christmas gifts this Year!!

BOOTS the CHEMIST.......was the only chemist I grew up with to go for anything my mum asked for and now as a 60+ adult I do the same. I am always reminded by the chemist in his long white clinical coat being The Boss and he knew exactly what we were looking for.
Not much has changed since John Boot from Nottingham who set up his business in 1849 as still today the Chemist will do their best to assist you in every way possible. Also on the plus side as good as what your actual Dr would prescribe.
Nowadays there is so much more in Boots to offer to their customers and myself and I too have grown up with BOOTS and will always be part of my life as they have about everything a family requires for medical reasons, make up, hair and body care products and baby never wants for anything. Young and old can rely on Boots 👍

Pretty Good

This app is good for receiving great offers and being able to load them onto your advantage card.
The issues I have is that there really should be a digital version of the card. It’s silly to be able to load offers via the app but then to have to still carry the physical card. It makes it look like Boots are behind everyone else.
A little side note too, when using vouchers loaded via the app, I’m never allowed to use paper vouchers I have too. I know there are people saying the opposite of this but I’ve never been able to do this. I’m addition to this, I think it’s crazy that you don’t earn points or have the ability to use vouchers when using your points to buy something. I purchased relatively expensive product recently in store and was told that I couldn’t use a money off coupon I had been issued with when purchasing using points and that I wouldn’t earn any points for this purchase too. Seems very odd and unfair to me.

Great way to accumulate lots of extra points quickly

I see that a few people are criticising elements of this app, such as using it to order photos or buy things online, but, personally I couldn’t care less about these things & my advice to anyone thinking about downloading this app would be to disregard these criticisms. You’re frequently issued offers which you can load onto your card for lots of points when you buy stuff that YOU actually DO buy on a regular basis (according to their records) & not for irrelevant fad nonsense that they WANT you to try out but that you would never normally purchase! These offers are usually quite generous & can all be used at the same time & usually in conjunction with any paper vouchers that you might have been sent in the post too. Fantastic. Almost every shop I find I’ve got £5-£7 back in accumulated points thanks to these offers so I think the app (whatever other flaws it may have) is well worth it just for this!
Go to a Boots store in person for your photos; buy your toiletries whilst you’re there; stop whinging that your whole life can’t be glitch-free & conducted entirely online, maybe ;)

Why do I have to load the offers??

Good idea, shame about the execution about sums about my experience of the Boots app. Why do I have to load the offers on my app to be able to use them? It makes no difference in the way they display whether they are loaded or not (a tick compare to a symbol that says “load”) so what’s the point? It’s like the function is only there so that you forget to load then and they then don’t get used and you don’t get your points so Boots don’t have to shell out extra points.
Also having been told by Boots customer services that I will no longer get vouchers in the post I have now (after 9 months of no vouchers) received some in the post. Some of them are the same as the Boots app vouchers and some are different- what’s that about? Can I use both? Can I only use the ones that are the same once? After being told that the app replaces the paper vouchers I can see from a lot of the vouchers that they clearly don’t!
I saw someone else commenting that they can do a whole Tesco shop on the app in the time that it takes to use the Boots app for anything and I would agree with that. It seems like it’s just not very well thought through, and customer services don’t seem very clued up on what’s going on.

Needs internal training for store staff

In theory the app is great but last week I had a voucher loaded to receive 400 points if I spent of a certain amount, went into store and spent more than necessary amount but didn’t receive the additional points apparently the member of staff (who didn’t seem to understand the app and kept asking me for my vouchers) didn’t click to accept button to reward me with the points, however she did click the accept button for other offers I was rewarded (50p off pampers wipes). I called the reward card helpline who were useless and told me nothing could be done. Staff definitely require further training and maybe an internal promotion encouraging them to trial the app themselves so they know what the customer is experiencing??
Also needs to have the feature to scan your reward card in store (barcode shown on screen), all well and good having the Clubcard number shown but staff seem annoyed that they need to enter it manually when I accidentally left the card at home one day.

You would be crazy not to have this app and shop boots

I use to allow my sister to take my points when shopping in boots because I thought it was just another points card that added up to not much, however I decided to get it and after my first few purchases I had £39 to spend. I was astonished they give you so much points and they have so much bonus points for various things. I now realise it would be crazy not to have this app and receive so many additional points; so make sure you have the boots card and the app so you can upload offers and save not a little money but loads of money. I recently purchased a toner from Estée Lauder And the points I received on my card covered the whole cost with £15 left for me to spend, that was awesome. I cannot believe I was living without this card and app before. well done to boots they are very generous with their point system not like the Clubcard in Tesco’s and other supermarkets.

Soooo complicated!!!

Where to start!!! The basket is really difficult to come up clearly, it takes a couple of goes. Then, it doesn’t carry the basket over when you log in, instead went to items put in previously so went from 8 to 4 items, some different. I then added the missing items again, it gave me an amount of about £44 and free delivery, however, when I confirmed payment I was charged £54 because it had topped up with items which were in the previous basket (so ended up with 3 toners instead of 2) and charged delivery. I also added a new advantage card, but that didn’t register. It stayed on the previous card number (which is damaged) and to add insult to injury it didn’t add any of the 400 points promised for purchase over £25 and Botanicals purchase. Will call customer services in the morning but the whole point of shopping online was to save time and this has wasted it! Never again!

Boots - why don’t you want me to buy things?

The advantage card features are good - just load up your offers before you go to the shop and they’re automatically applied if your shop qualifies.
Trying to use the app to shop online, however, is a complete waste of time. When you click on ‘Shop’ in the app it just takes you out to a mobile version of the website. That means that it doesn’t take across your log in, so you have to log in again before you can purchase, plus the site doesn’t view very well on mobile. Added to that the actual mechanics of making a purchase are glitchy - things disappearing out of your basket etc - and the navigation is clunky and unhelpful.
Basically Boots have made it really difficult for customers to buy things - doesn’t seem like a smart move.
It’s not hard to get this right, just look at apps from loads of other retailers - supermarkets, department stores, clothes shops etc. - where you shop directly in the app, the UI is clear, the transactions are easy and you’re kept logged in so you can make your purchases with a few easy clicks. I can do my entire weekly shop on the Tesco app quicker and easier than I can buy a couple of eyeshadows and a hair dye from Boots.

Not impressed

I assumed that booking an appointment would be easier from the app as the app already knows all my details but it's even worse. Not only does it ask you to sign in, which of course it won't have saved my details, so you have to go through the hassle of re-registering with a new password since the imaginary emails with the reset links never arrived. Maybe they will arrive tomorrow, next week or next month? Anyway, having gone through the re-registering process I now arrived at the booking an appointment screen and proceeded to tick that it's for me. This did not enter any details into the blank boxes but I had to do it all myself, not once but twice. Having eventually got my appointment, I then wanted to book an appointment for my wife too so this time I ticked 'no' for the appointment being for me, yet hey presto, all my details are coming up despite me saying the appointment IS NOT for me. What's the point of this question? Why are you asking for date of birth and email, postcode, etc twice during booking? Surely these details won't change within a few minutes. There was absolutely no benefit in using the app as suppose the web.

Photo ordering is a joke

The advantage card is my favourite and most used loyalty card - I really don't understand why you now have to upload offers onto your card and if you do this in store it usually doesn't upload in time to use the voucher.
The photo ordering really lets the App down which is otherwise easy to use. Uploading photos in store is a nightmare because you cannot select pics by folder and most people like myself have hundreds/thousands of photo to choose from on their phone! Uploading them to the app is equally clunky, there is no function to rotate a photo or crop the photo to size (the crop feature actually only moves the picture up and down).
Once ordered there is no record within the App of what you've ordered/when it will be ready. There is no confirmation email or alert to let you know the status of your order. The first time I ordered I thought it had failed so I redid the order (this took a while) and when I collected in store found 2 copies. Of course the staff then "destroyed" the duplicates - it would have been a nice gesture to let me keep them since the staff agreed the App is useless in this regard and they had already been printed!
