Disappointed
I have to sign up for a two week trial and then after I’ll have to pay something like £227.99 a year. Please make so we can at least do SOMETHINGS for free like search the internet and watch the videos or get taught something.

I really like this app/course
I have been learning Spanish for few years and have experience of other courses. I definitely like this one best.
One ergonomic problem I have is when using the app on an iPad I keep accidentally catching the large Next bar on the bottom of the screen and moving to the next screen before I have entered my answer. It’s not a major problem but frustrating when trying to get a perfect score and you get marked as wrong when you’ve not even entered anything. It’s just a layout thing I think.

Charges of the app!!!!
I was recently watching YouTube and your add came up, I want to learn Maltese and Spanish but for a start there are barely any languages on there. On the ad, it didn’t mention anything about in app purchases such as having to pay to learn languages I think it’s not the best way to address people as soon as they download the app maybe you could add perks that cost money and also, most of the good language apps cost money and if you want more people to download your app then don’t make it cost so much money!

Terrible interface
The app is designed for a smaller iphone screen (I'm on the 8). It forces you to use the default keyboard and all of the graphics are stretched. You also have to give your credit card details for the free trial.
First impressions are everything, this is not going to be a good app if they can't even be bothered to update it.

Not the best!
This app is good in terms of education, but the fact after you have a free trial you have to pay, even if you just want the free trial you still have to make a payment afterwards. I do not like the apps start.😡

Charged me instantly... feel conned.
Really poor. Thought I was taking out the two week free trial and charged instantly. A lot of money for something untried. Feel really angry. Despite the helpful sounding replies to other people’s reviews when I contacted FluentU they told me they can’t help and I need to go to Apple Support. Not sure exactly how to do this. Their email contained a link to a support portal that when I try to sign in says I am not authorised. Feel conned. It leaves a sour taste and has taken away a lot of my enthusiasm for language learning.

I’ve tried many ways of learning French including other apps and I think this is easily the most effective and most enjoyable.

For Chinese studies it’s the app I’ve been waiting for
I’ve studied Chinese to a basic level in the past (HSK1) so I did not come to this app knowing nothing. I therefore started at the intermediate level. Compared to many apps, this app is very rich in high quality content. The videos are absolutely fantastic and must have cost a lot to produce. But the beauty of the app is the way in which true videos tie into the vocabulary and quizzes.
Ok, so there are a few tweaks I would like to see here and there e.g. there’s a little too much reoccurring fanfare whenever a section or subsection is completed, which after the 20th time starts to get a bit tedious. But on the whole, this is unquestionably an app deserving of its price.

I was wrongly charged !!
I just downloaded the app for the free trial, next thing I know when checking my subscriptions, I have been charged 229.00.
I am incredibly disappointed and have been trying to contact the creators of the app. I would like a free refund immediately!

Not as good as desktop
This app has so much potential yet has gone backwards. Unlike on the desktop, you are unable to play the clips when you come across a word/phrase. This is made worse by the robot pronunciation of words you get to hear instead (which doesn’t help improve listening). This feature used to be enabled so it’s very frustrating. I won’t be renewing the pricey subscription as I spend more time on my phone travelling than on my laptop.

Freezes when started
After the latest update ver 1.5.9 the app freezes either after showing the “we love your feedback” message, or shortly afterwards during the “important updates in progress” faze.
This is an expensive subscription, I do hope this will be fixed ASAP, otherwise I am definitely cancelling it.

Experience a minor bug which ended my trial 1 week early however the problem was solved promptly. Other than that, great content. My teacher is surprised with my progress :)

Excessively expensive
I like the app’s concept of watching videos and increasing one’s vocabulary in the process, however it’s excessively expensive for an app in view of the other options out there on the market. And it’s difficult to conceive of why such a price would be justified.

Pretty good but a little bit monotonous
I feel like I am learning German but there isn’t much variety in quiz styles. The same structure is used for every video. The voice is very synthetic. Duolingo has better voice production (with a variety of voices) and that’s free.
Also there is no guidance about what I should be doing, how to structure my learning. I just go in and watch a video and take a quiz.
Having said all that, the videos themselves make it more interesting to learn and I feel like I am getting a lot more exposure to complete sentences, idioms and hearing how people really talk.
What is really missing is something to get me talking and making up my own sentences but that probably can only happen by speaking to real people!

Don't get this app
I used the free trail which is only 2 weeks and 8 didn't like it enough to pay £30 so I went to cancel and it said that I didn't have a subscription and on top of that most of the videos were locked so I couldn't watch them so I assumed I didn't have a subscription only to see that a few days later they charged me £30 without even giving me an option to unsubscribe. I am fuming and I will warn anyone to be careful,because it's really not worth it.

Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s the best app to learn a new language! In my case is Chinese and it’s extremely cool and easy to learn. My other friends are learning Russian and Spanish with FluentU.

Love this app
Signed up for the trial and loved it. I am learning French so fast. It seems like a lot of money but compared to my weekly lessons 10 of which cost the same as FluentU for one year and I learn 10x as much each week.

Better than a lot of others
I want to move to Japan when I’m older so I started searching for learning apps because other forms of self study were not helping anymore. Duolingo finally added Japanese but if I’m honest it’s awful. They only teach hiragana but they don’t even teach you the entire language. After doin the hirigana lessons they expected you to be fluent and I just didn’t learn anything. The most I’ve learnt since the hirigana lessons is how to say ‘No, I won’t get up’. This app is a whole lot better than Duolingo or any other I’ve tried

Korean learners watch out
Watch out before you pay! You cannot type in English or Korean. Whatever keyboard you use your answer will be incorrect. Apparently some bug is at fault but unless your language is in the majority (which Korean seems not) then it won't be fixed any time soon.

After several weeks of looking for apps to learn Portuguese I found a review to say this was one of the best! Download the app and guess what, no Portuguese on the list! Another disappointment!

Beware the sign-up process
Downloaded the app for my son who’s learning German only to find that the “free” app requires that you hand over credit card details before you can use it.
Then one week after downloading it, you’re sent a reminder that the subscription will kick in 6 days later (it says 7 days, but you have to cancel it 1 day before that). If you’re like me and receive a fair amount of e-mail each day, you may (as I did) miss the notification. Aside from this one e-mail, you appear to receive no other notification.
So I’m left with having to challenge the payment with my credit card company. Additionally, two weeks is so little time to assess what is a very expensive subscription that it renders the 13 days of evaluation pointless.
Exceptionally unhappy and will certainly avoid anything from FluentU in the future.

Used to be good but now paywall
I used to love this app. It worked really well. You could press a word and listen to it before choosing it in a quiz. The learning audio bit was really helpful, and went along nicely with the written text. I assume you can have all this back again, but you have to pay. Which basically makes the free version useless, since you have no idea what is happening. It is just audio with nothing to connect it to.

FluentU Review
After some speculation as to whether this app would be what I needed it to be, and as a result of looking around the web for cheap self teaching language packages, I stumbled upon FluentU. Ever since downloading the app I have not been disappointed by it. The structure and material it provides is really helpful and I find myself picking up a forgotten to me language with ease! I highly recommend this app as a way of learning by yourself another language.

A quick way to learn day by day
The variety of different quizzes really tests your memory and makes sure you understand new words in their context in a sentence as well as just remembering them. This is a great way to make quick improvements and learn some extra vocab.

A great, thoughtfully-designed app
It's a well-designed easy to use app. The vocab learning is well integrated with the videos, but backed up with extra contextual examples. There's a lot of content too. It's an engaging learning method, quite different from most other apps or sites out there.
Obviously this is best used as a supplement to other learning approaches.
Only downsides for me are the cost (you really need to use it regularly to get your money's worth) and that the app offers fewer languages than those available on the website. Hopefully they will add more in time.

Used daily
Brilliant app. Easily the most feature filled of the ones I've seen and used. I especially love being tested on completing full sentences. Something I've not seen elsewhere.
I use it daily just to go through my lists of saved words to test myself. It can takes 15 -20 mins tops to do.
The videos are another great touch. Try to ignore the subs or close your eyes and see what you understand first time.
Price is a little steep and had to cancel something else to afford yet another monthly subscription service. Otherwise great. My rate of learning Japanese has increased significantly.

Fantastic app but I shame about the price
I recently downloaded this app and I will be shortly coming to the end of my free trial. The concept is great as you can listen to a foreign language video and get used to the sound of the language (which I think is what most language learners need the most). The content is fun and easy to use. My issue is that it is so expensive, that if I don't use it loads, it will be a waste of money. At £10 a month I wouldn't really mind but at the cost advertised, I may subscribe for a month or two max but not beyond as its too much money.

Super App!
A combination of audio lessons-that u can pause at any time to add words you want to learn-and refer to later-as 'flashcards' to your own folder; plus quizzes assessments reviews all with examples and opportunities to translate, answer multiple choice questions and type in Japanese yourself make this a highly effective and addictive app. I easily added the Japanese Hiragana + Kanji keyboard to my phone and was set. I can't recommend this app enough!! (^v^*)
