Finally an update and it’s cool. It appears finer on the controls to me than previous versions and the refocus feature is nice.

I like it....but!
I’ve used this app a lot and enjoy the images that can be made, with careful choice of the subject. However, what would be really useful are square format guide marks/lines, within the viewfinder. It’s too hit or miss at the moment. I’d give you an extra star, for that!

Disappointed
I'm a fan of Hipstamatic and the tin type effects, so was excited to see what this new app would add... Unfortunately not a lot.

Waste of money
This app has potential, trouble is it does not work properly every time I select a photo from my camera roll it crashes.

Broken
Since there is no way to contact you via support I am forced to leave a poor review. It has stopped working. Are you no longer supporting it? It just spins and crashes. Needs updating for latest iOS. I loved it and now it is useless.

Awesome great hip app for your inner and outer hipster retronificent 🕵🏻👓🎩👢🍷🍾🌇⛰🎡🎠🎢🏭🗼🎠🛤🏞🏯🗽🎥📽📺📻🎞🔌🕰🗝📦💛🆒 the people who say it under exposes need to go out but a film and an old Russian analogue SLR and learn some basic light exposure rules. I learnt with film and a light meter with a Zeiss icon and any phone camera is so easy to use in comparison u guys brush up your skills and you will find this app is so easy to use u will be embarrassed that you tried shooting directly into light or whatever other silliness you are doing .... 😬😂😂😂😂

Many photos are too dark and lose detail....even when the original was an adequately level of brightness.

I've been tricked!
None of my photos look anything like the ones in the app description- I have no idea how they're managing to do that, considering I'm taking photos with the sun right in my face or right next to a lightbulb and they're all too dark. Useless!

Pretty good really...
No problems on my 5c ios8. I've produced some lovely pictures so far. Lots of tweaking possible to the final image. Choose colour, monochrome or sepia. You can increase the grunge and increase eye intensity. Just remember to shake to get a new frame effect, it works very well.

Black screen spinning disk
Having deleted and reinstalled several times I still get a black screen with spinning disk. I will be deleting until app is updated.

Stopped Working
I use to really like this app. When it works it's great. Unfortunately now it just hits a black screen and spinning wheel thing and that's it. Shame.

Doesn't work
Just tried this and all that happens is it takes a photo and screen goes black with spinning wheel. iPhone 6 so hardware not a problem.

Needs work
I am a huge fan and user of HIpstamatic and love the tintype filter in that so very keen to use tintype. Sorry to say it's not quite there. It's under exposing consistently between 1 and 1.5 stops. Can you fix this please?

Utterly beautiful. Simple. Elegant. Enchanting, actually. The usual Hipstamatic tintype emulating refinements, but without having to hunt through your lens/film collection to locate them when you're in a hurry. Great enhancement/tweaking of images features too. Love love love it! Well done, guys. Gonna be busy chasing people to pose for the next month....

Needs a lot of work
I applied the effect to a photo on my camera roll which was fine but I lost my original photo. This is not cool. Also I could not find a way to save my pics to the camera roll, not obvious if you can do this.

Disappointing as there is virtually no control over images. No exposure, contrast, texture etc.
it's good. It has potential but it needs work to make it something I'd use often. Only 69p so value is ok.

Great images
It's made very clear from the description what this app is. So I'm not sure why others feel it's a one trick pony. If you love the tintype lenses on Hipstamatic then you'll love this app and the chance to edit the image just a little. Loses one star for saving over the original and not a separate image.

Great idea as a standalone App but many features missing
Great idea to make this a standalone App. However, it is limited without any zoom and crop facility and further crippled without anyway to alter or chose the focus point. Often it fails to find eyes and defaults to a centre go cud point that can't be changed. The selection of photos and saving is quite buggy.
Looking forward to this getting finished off.

Good but needs improvement
Was blown away at first by the quality of the effect and the design and sleek appearance of the app. Then I unfortunately realised that the exact same texture grain effect is used on every picture you take. So you can expect a white scratch in the bottom left corner, a white blurry scratch near the top. And a few dots on the bottom right hand side. While the overall look is great, after taking several photos you'll notice the similarities with the texture. Considering other editing apps have so many different textures and grain you can add, there should be a more random variety each picture. If this gets improved upon,I may move up to 5 stars as apart from this issue, the app is generally very good.

Shockingly poor value!
One trick pony app. But I understood that when I bought it. The specialist nature of this was the selling point. Customisation and control of this particular type of image was the interest. However the so called customisation is none existent. It was a brand promise made, a promise that was immediately broken after purchase. Customisation is so poor: B&W or colour (no apparent control) square format or not, blur control, eye intensity, frame on/off, and surface texture intensity. That's pretty much everything. No fine control or adjustment of colour, texture, frame control, no tone control nothing to process and tune your image in app.
Instant regret. Marginal use. Waste of 69p.

Stopped working after few shots
I liked the app till it worked. But after about 8 shots it stopped working. I can take a shot but then I get just a throbber that never gets any further, photo just doesn't pop up.

Another winner!
Another great app from Hipstamatic... Would have been a 5-star review but for one little niggle. Be warned if you amend an existing picture on your smart device, when you save it - it's permanently modified. Would be better if the app saved a freshly modified new copy of your pic. Other than that - it's great fun!

Awesome.
Like everything by Hipstamatic, it's carefully created with everything thought of.
The ability of enhance eyes, depth of field, grain on the plates and of course black and white or colour is amazingly good.
The effect is mesmerising and although I have the TinType pack for the original hipstamatic app, this outlay of 69p for customisable tintype is easily worth it.
Thank you Hipstamatic. Great app, great addition to a healthy set of apps you provide us photographers, and iphonographers

A very poor app from the great Hipstamatic family.Does nothing that the classic Hipstamatic app doesn't already do better. Don't waste your money.
