Not great

Really slow application doesn’t sound as good as Tidal. Really frustrating application, slow to respond at times needs a lot of work. It’s a shame because it could be a great application it looks good and sounds good but that’s it. If you can somehow have the usability of Spotify and the sound quality of Tidal you have nailed it.

Excellent

Hi first time I’ve used Qobuz I’m impressed with high quality sound plus I’ve been using Spotify since it’s been out, I’ve decided to switch to Qobuz because it offers better sound and I’ve tried TIDAL and Amazon music just didn’t like it, the best thing you can do transfer all your songs from Spotify to Qobuz thats big plus made it so much easier it only found 1600 songs out 2000 but I’m happy with that.

Car play app is woeful

iOS app is good and does everything I need, but when connecting through car play the most important feature for me is to be able to like and unlike songs on the car display, but Qobuz doesn’t seem to allow this.
Giving 3 star review may seem a little harsh but that is such an important feature as it means you can shape your tastes while driving by liking songs that come up in radio or discover. Please add this single button feature to Apple Car Play!!!

Great app but still not perfect for classical

The app has improved a great deal. It has been mature and stable for a while and the addition of new library filters is good. However, composers are still lumped together with artists, although the album and track credits contain links to “composer”. I still can’t favourite record labels, although every album has a link to its recording label. And many areas still have limited sort options. And in the albums section of my library the search function only searches for words in the Blum title, not within the album metadata which is a shame.

Keeps getting better with each update, but there’s things to improve

Please could you add support for streaming on a network? Airplay isn’t so great streaming to my Sonos- using my phone is more difficult, if I need to take a call and turn up the volume it blasts the music volume up instead. It gets confused between my phone audio and streaming- it also means the audio is getting pushed from my phone it can just directly work with speakers on my network.
Also I think the search needs improving, it doesn’t allow for spelling mistakes, if I search for an artists or album it doesn’t do much prediction I.e. the artist I search there latest album appears higher in the list- it will also show other random results. It’s the same for playlist. If I search “Sunday” it will bring up playlists like “feel good summer 90’s”…. Scroll further and then you’ll get playlists that are titled that.
What would be further helpful, when you play one track that you have searched- it will continue playing other songs after that’s similar/ recommended.
I’m not sure how the recommendations work currently but I’m never happy with what it thinks I want to listen to next. It goes way off from whatever track you start from.
Besides these points, the app has improved significantly, and I find myself using Qobuz more. I still primarily use Spotify day to day and I use Qobuz when I want to really listen to something in high fidelity at home. But hopefully soon, I can cancel my Spotify and fully use Qobuz. I have music on all day, so I enjoy an algorithm taking me to new music, mixed with similar tracks, ones I know, and eventually whole new artists.

Great

If you like to listen to specific albums and genres (especially jazz/classical) then Qobuz is perfect. The ui for classical albums with each piece being separated and then movements clearly displayed underneath is excellent and makes exploring classical repertoire much easier. The new release function is also great and incredible useful for finding new releases in a specific genre. Of course the quality is also fantastic.

Love it!

Great range of high definition music available at reasonable subscription rate. App is very intuitive and easy to use. I was with Tidal before but found the app clunky and extremely unreliable in playing downloaded tracks offline. Qobuz does this beautifully. If you love music and appreciate hi def audiophile quality + ease of use don’t hesitate.

Great quality streams, but what an awful app.

You would think that you’d be able to play your downloaded music, whether you’re online or offline. But nooo. You open the app on the train, full 5g bars and browsing working mind you, and the app starts to auto play wherever it is you were playing on your previous session, and for some reason it can’t play your music, and goes through your entire library in an unabortable flow until you force close and make a prayer to make it work the next time it starts. But it doesn’t.
Unreliable as hell. If it wasn’t for Roon requiring it, I would have been done with it ages ago.
Please fix your app!

Jumbled New Releases

Qobuz as a streaming service is great. However, they decided recently that the list of new releases should be filtered according to some undetermined criteria. The end result is that now it is impossible to check the underground and non-mainstream artists and their albums unless one knows what they are looking for. This is a big deal breaker.

A great music store; an okay streaming service; a bad app

I’ve used Qobuz as a download store for many years. They’ve had the best catalog of non-DSD content for the past decade, and now they’ve added some DSD128 too! If you know what you want, they’re great. The Sublime subscription is great value if you buy a lot of content.
However, as a streaming service only, they leave a lot to be desired. Their playlists are terrible — the worst. So much so that they offer free subscriptions to services to import your Spotify (and other) playlists into Qobuz (which works well and is a good solution, but _another_ step). Their search function is really bad. And the app… it’s the worst of the lot.
It hangs. It caches music you’ve streamed, but then doesn’t let you play the cache when you’re offline; you have to explicitly download your music. It intermittently logs you out. It disconnects from AirPods. Occasionally it pauses music every time the Lock Screen locks — but most of the time it works fine.
Using Qobuz through Roon is so much better than using it natively. You also get better playlists and search. But this solution is limited away from home and a non-starter when offline.
A great music store; an okay streaming service; a bad app.

Frustrating

Qobuz has to be one of the most frustrating music apps I use. Shuffle only available if you create a playlist first. Albums disappear then reappear so I end up with “unavailable” albums even though the same albums exist under a different ID. Tracks pause for no reason, despite a strong internet connection.
If I wasn’t using Qobuz via Roon the service would be unusable.
It’s such a shame as the sound quality is excellent. I’m hoping Qobuz will be bought out by a company that’s committed to providing an excellent customer experience over the “it’ll do” attitude that seems to the case now.
Finally, the cut and paste developer “responses” here demonstrate how little Qobuz value their customers.
Two stars for sound quality and a reasonable catalogue.

Quality listening!

I was a long term Spotify user, and was reasonably content with my lot. I then upgraded my turntable, and begun to find depths of music that I hadn’t heard before. Streaming the same music via Spotify now felt like listening with ear muffs on, like someone had poured treacle in my ears. The hifi dealer I bought the deck from recommended Qobuz, which he uses for his high-end installations, and I haven’t looked back. I’m loving the quality, the interface, the ‘sleeve notes’, the whole package. Now I only use Spotify for podcasts.

Music quality Superb, app quality is not

The features in the app are so dated. For example, I searched for top 40 UK singles and in brought up 2012 as the most current setlist. I personally don't think you need a magazine tab. The main reason I came to Qobuz was purely for music quality but everything else lacks for me. I gave previously subscribed to Apple Music and Spotify, these both have much better user interfaces.

Great Sound - Appalling App

Upgraded from 1* to 2* since my last review. A slight ‘tweak’ on a recent app upgrade, allows me to choose artists I’m ’following.’
My main gripe (and it’s mentioned on so many forums) why on earth did you remove the A-Z scroll bar from the right hand column of the app?
Do your app designers actually use this app for their own music. Everything was great then in your quest to improve and continually tweak, you broke it.
Try selecting a saved favourite artist towards the back of the alphabet, ZZ Top for example.
You either have to scroll through hundreds of artists to get there or head to the search bar.
Please, please return the A-Z scroll bar.
As I’ve said, the music, the quality, the choice is tremendous.
And before you recommend I contact you, I have done, numerous times

Disastrous update

5 stars for coverage and sound; 1 star for the app = 3 stars. The app was never the most intuitive but the recent update is a total mess. Everything is mixed together and you have to filter in order to get to a specific album/artist/playlist. I often navigate to albums by going through artists’ pages but this now requires at least one more tap. Accessing Qobuz through the Sonos app (speaking of disastrous updates…) is also a nightmare because an artist’s catalogue is an unordered list of albums, eps, singles…

Atrocious app with a good selection of music

I’ve been using Qobuz since forever and the app has always been pretty feeble. It went through a phase of steady improvement where one could even imagine they bothered to test it. The new revamped app is diabolical though, clearly never tested properly and incredibly unstable. I hate to say it, but please release Spotify lossless and I’m outta here…

Almost perfect

A brilliant service with an extensive catalogue - not as extensive as Apple Music but the times I fail to find something here that I do then find in Apple Music, are becoming rarer.
Unlike Apple Music, my music streamer in my home stereo can stream Qobuz natively and play it back at full file size (Apple offers files straight from their servers at high resolution and with high bit depth, but it’s a “closed” software environment so I have to stream it to a phone or iPad first and then use Apple AirPlay to bounce it to the stereo (and Airplay then compresses the high resolution file into a “zipped-up” AAC file so you lose the sound advantage of the original “Full-Fat” file you get in the first place. What’s the point Apple..??) Qobuz goes straight to the Streaming Player without involving my phone, sounds glorious & works so simply.
Given that I stick with Qobuz, treating it as my Luxury/Premium option for this win/win combination of simple operation & great sound quality, I wish it had more of the Super Premium functionality of a system like Roon; song lyrics as an option, cover art, additional visuals, all the tendril-like links that Roon offers that can have you following your nose joyously down musical rabbit-holes you weren’t previously aware of. All those elements bring digital music back to (at least a part of) the ceremony & joy I grew up with when I’d pore over the entirety of a 12inch LP while the music played.
If Apple Music ever relents and offers native device streaming then it will become all I need but if Qobuz adds in these few extras to an already compelling service then you’ll have my loyalty nailed down unconditionally.👍

What have they done to the app?

Music quality and coverage was fine. The app since last update is borderline unusable for me - I no longer can see individual track without hunting for the grouping that is probably Album / Release. The old A-Z scroll to find track was fine, if a bit slow. Now it is unusable. If this is not addressed soon, they can say goodbye to another Sublime subscriber.

Hey Qobuz, I don’t want tracks and albums mixed together - at the very least please add a search filter for albums alongside the sort options in the new library for downloads, tracks, favourites etc, I can’t be the only one that misses the previous version of the mobile app. Sublime member for last 3 years.

Excellent sound, awful app

Lots of the reviews on here focus on sound quality which Qobuz has (though that said, most things are CD quality rather than high res). None of them reflect on the app itself which is awful.
On the most basic level, the home screen doesn’t update properly when the song changes. When using a mobile phone as a remote control which is the case on these modern devices, that’s very unhelpful.
Siri integration is non-existent. I can’t shout at my phone to play an inspirational song as Qobuz doesn’t support that. Nor will it play an album or an artist playlist through Siri. This is particularly important when in the car. Although this is a hifi service, I still spend hours in the car listening to music and that’s where Siri is important.
CarPlay support is hopeless. It’s not possible to just resume even the last thing playing (in the house, car or otherwise), nor can you directly search a song, artist or album from the interface (even when stationary for safety). You can essentially only use CarPlay with playlists and favourites artists. This is almost useless, especially with the lack of Siri integration.
The last thing I’ll say is that it looses sync with whatever device its remote controlling very easily. This is in addition to the Home Screen issues. It’s hard to work out if this is a separate issue to the slow, ponderous interface.
In general, Spotify is 500% the app this is, and it’s a lot cheaper. However good the sound is, Qobuz lacks the simple things that make listening to music enjoyable and convenient. At this point it might be easier to simply rip all my CDs and use Apple Music.

Glitches spoil great app

There are a lot of great things about the platform: music quality, recommendations, artist and label content are all excellent. However basic glitches ruin the experience. Playlists and albums stop playing after a few tracks on iPhone, even when downloaded and in offline mode. A recent update introduced filters that don’t work, telling me I have no downloaded playlists when I do. Astonished some things pass testing. Support have tried to help (10/10 for responsiveness) but these basic bugs spoil the usability of the app.

Poor app lets it down

I would like to rate Qobuz higher. On desktop it works great and I subscribed for a year, taking a good mobile app for granted. However the iOS app is a hot mess. From big bugs, for example (I) some tracks just silently fail to download for offline listening, leaving incomplete albums; (II) CarPlay app is effectively unusable with long playlists and also has no skip, shuffle or like functions. Basics in this day and age... How did they forget about them?! To small UX issues: (III) the notification to tell me I'm offline pops up *over* the button to access offline playlists d'oh. Every. Single. Day. I have to wait for the red banner to disappear before I can listen to my music. Why, devs? (IV) My developer friends laugh at the use of CraZy Case in the CarPlay app. Totally inconsistent. Looks half-finished. Please sort it out.

I’m leaving

This is my third review.
The first was 5 stars, I was blown away by the sound, I could genuinely hear a difference in songs, music sounded pure…
My second review was 2 stars, I started to realise what people meant about the buggy UI and UX. it really messes with the experience, but I was still in love with sound.
This review is after a lot of frustration, dealing with the laggy and buggy app. The downloads section was the last straw. Firstly, I’m on the underground, I click on my downloads to listen to music. It stops playing after I loose connection, and tells me I have no connection. I play a different track and it works, but stops on the second track *aggressive sighs*. Then I try to download a playlist, it starts with three songs and then stops saying it can’t download one song, and because of that song it won’t download the rest of the playlist… it says it won’t download unless the app is open (stupid feature btw), but the app is open. I closed, swiped away, reopened, still the same notification.
So that’s it, I’m done. Genuinely wanted to celebrate this app, but going back to Apple Music, I can get decent sound quality there and although the UI is boring it’s at least useable.

So, so poor. First and foremost it’s extortionate at £12.99 monthly. I had signed up for the trial but unfortunately, with a lot going on in life at present, missed the cancellation by a day. Granted, my mistake but I thought the company may be empathetic.. I was wrong. They flat out refused to process a refund. Hey ho, won’t be returning or recommending to anyone. Proper shoddy customer service. You’re best off sticking with Spotify!

Amazing Quality!

I’ve used other streaming services but always found the quality wasn’t great. I prefer physical albums/vinyls so didn’t have high hopes, I played a few songs on Qobuz and was highly impressed by how crisp everything played. Bit pricy for the subscription but worth it if you have a good quality speaker/headphones! Every genre sounds incredible on this app which is rare for digital audio!

Qobuz the best streaming app

I have been a audio fan for many years in fact for 40+ years. Vinyl was the only medium then. So I spent far to much money on speakers amplifiers and phono cartridges. Then in 1982 music cd,s become available and us Hi-Fi enthusiasts got very excited indeed. No more pops and clicks when listening to our music, the sound was higher quality and to cap it all the storage required was a fraction of Vinyl. So when I started to read articles about streaming being offered by companies I was excited but sceptical to say the least. How could it ever sound as good as a CD but after a lot of research I purchased a Cambridge Azur 851N streamer and subscribed to Tidal. My thinking being if Tidal (who uses MQA) was the most expensive it must be the best. However MQA is not lossless and on some albums that were published as Hi Res clearly were not and lacked a truly realistic sound. Being an Audio file I fiddled, changed cables, changed setting on my amp and streamer, moved the position of the speakers.
So my thinking was perhaps what I had read was just snake oil. So I changed my streaming provider to Qobuz and an immediate difference was apparent. The sound quality that had been missing was back again and millions of songs and albums available to listen to. I am now building my playlists and back enjoying music again. For anyone reading this is also sceptical I recommend you give it a try by using there free introduction offer.

Works brilliantly (with Linn) but….

Why does it have to list artists by the Christian name or by ‘T’ if the band is prefixed with ‘The’.
So, The Beatles, Pretenders, Boo Radleys, Carpenters etc all sit next to each other in your list, and eg Frank Zappa will be found under the letter, ‘F’, rather than, ‘Z.’
If there’s a way that can be corrected in my listings can a developer pls contact me to advise.
Other than that, I agree with all the other positive feedback; it’s great and also good to listen to on the move eg at gym, via car system etc especially if downloaded first.

Music is great, the app is horrible

The app needs a ton of work. Very poor performance on an iPhone Pro Max 13 and iPad Pro M2. Very slow to switch menus and glitchy. The music quality though is superb and I purchased a Sublime subscription due to that and its great integration with Roon. But I really hope the app gets a complete revamp, as its barely useable and very frustrating to use. Please create a new app, if Qobuz would do this, it would be by far the best music streaming service available!

The app needs work.

I’ve been using Qobuz for a long time but the app is infuriating, as is the customer support. Sure it’s the best quality streaming, but that’s not an excuse to take your foot off the gas. The algorithms are rubbish. When you compare them to the likes of roon, they are sub par. The layout and functionality of the app needs work and it seems like development of the app is stagnant and not evolving as it should.
Could be better.

Really buggy

The music is good but the app is terrible which by default means Qobuz is very poor. The playlists are a nightmare. Half my playlists were downloaded to make available offline ( for on a flight ). I created some more after the most recent app update and despite saying they are imported they aren’t. No way to fix it. A name change on my Qobuz isn’t continued through to downloaded content. A deleted playlist isn’t continued through neither. Spent hours trying to resolve and research. A real shame. While I’m at it, the search function is awful I mean awful.
Just as an update to this. I bought a new iPhone 13 mini for work and transferred quobuz from the old iPhone 6s. On this new 13mini it transferred an old version of Qobuz which still has the ‘offline’ library rather than the ‘import’ library that the new version of Qobuz forces on you. The old offline version is great, the newer ‘import’ version is soooo bad. Tried deleting the new version and reinstalling but no joy. It’s almost unusable in the ‘import’ use. Can you please fix it. You promised you would but still waiting.

The Help function doesn’t work

I paid for an extra family member to join but having taken my money, he can’t use the service because of an error at Qobuz which sees him as being in a different country (he isn’t) and so I discover that the Help function in the app offers no means of help beyond a FAQ. There’s no way to contact them at all. None. No email address, no chat box, no phone number. Nothing. I have to conclude that they are out of their depth. Avoid.

Fantastic Quality. Just a few minor annoyances in app

I love Qobuz for the extremely high quality music. It sounds amazing especially on my Sonos system. A couple of annoying things on the app like when I press the offline library button it’s slow to respond and the other thing it’s when I go in to my playlists they can be slow to show the songs, once the songs have shown up it’s good but then the next play list is the same, to be fair it’s more of a minor annoyance than a problem but when I have the fast iPhone 14 pro max nothing should be sluggish. The final issue is not a bad one but another annoying thing where when on a play list and I want to scroll to the bottom, it will only let you go so far down the playlist and you have to press see next tracks which is a pain when you have over 1000 songs in the list. All the other music apps allow you to drag all the way to the bottom in seconds. Like I said just minor annoyances. I would still highly recommend Qobuz to anyone wanting the best sounding music.

Tried most Classical streaming services. Quobuz is the best. Catalogue, information, app. All excellent.

Very good value for money!

I use this site all the time now and the sound quality is excellent, played through my hifi. The size of the library is satisfying too. The only quibble I have is that when playing an artist’s back catalogue only the 20-30 most popular tracks are given, whereas I would want to hear more. But overall I am very satisfied with this service.

I want to like it

Edit. Recent update now shows release year and divides between albums and eps/singles in iOS app. Added a star for major improvement- thanks to developers!
Looking to move from Tidal as I don’t need the nastiest commercial hip hop pushed on me against my will and I want to see actual bit rate information more clearly. Qobuz wins on these points, plus the playlists and suggested tracks curation suits me very well. But there are some real annoyances with the interface. First and foremost, it’s slow, sometimes really slow, not just to load songs (which I would accept as they can be big files) but things like loading favorites, or loading the list of an artists albums. The wheel spins and spins, then there are glitches and time out errors. I don’t think this is on my end. My internet connection is reasonably good and besides, if I switch to Tidal there are no delays. Tidal loads playlists instantly, no spinning wheels ever over several months of use. Secondly, discographies do not show album year on iphone and iPad apps. So you have to click the album and then delve into the credits. Annoying. Also, discographies do not distinguish between albums and singles, so you have to open them to see what it is. I want to like Qobuz. The focus on sound quality, tasteful curation and repertoire make it seem like a more serious audio service. But I wish these issues would be fixed. I’ve sent in feedback already and will see how it goes over the course of my trial month..

App crashing too much

I’ve been more or less happy with Qobuz so far but recently the iOS app has been crashing. Two examples: (1) when cueing far forward on a longer track, it crashes. More incremental ff and it’s fine. (2) in article on “New British jazz scene in 10 albums” I click on link to Brownswood Recordings and it crashes (hence this review). I’ve tried twice and same thing each time. Not a very helpful article then!
I like the content on Qobuz and obviously the commitment to hi-res. But it really has to be more stable if I’m to stick with it. Please sort out.

Seems good so far

The interface is a little slow and there’s some obscure, obscure tracks/artists which I can’t find but are forgivable.
I think the two things that I’d like to see answered from Qobuz are;
1) What are the up to date royalty per stream figures (can only find 2018 figures online)?
2) How easy is it for independent artists looking to put their music onto Qobuz’s database?
If the figures from 2018 are still relevant then I can recommend this highly enough; there is an option to change audio quality which helps streaming and there seems a good collection.

Service is appalling

I have been using qobuz for over a year now.
I could over look the sluggish interface and the offline music needing an internet connection because i felt the sound was superior to most streaming services.
Up until recently their customer service was slow but got me through ( also contact is only facebook or instagram ). But i have just paid for a month through my apple account. The app says I'm not subscribed, when i click on subscribe, it says im subscribed. After quite a wait for a reply through fb messenger they tell me to cancel my paid for subscription and to sign up on their web page. Some how thinking the trail month they offer is the same thing as me getting a service i paid for.
After reading all the negative feedback on trust pilot, i wont be giving them any card or bank details.

Great app but quality has decreased significantly

I use Qobuz for over 5 years. The app is great in terms of quality of sound etc.
However, there are now so many quite common recordings either not fully or not at all available (tracks marked with ‘sample’ label you can listen to only for a few seconds, previously available records of great quality and top interpretations in their branch of music, e.g. classical music, which have been removed without reason although Qobuz has contracts with the label, etc).
When you write to the Customer Support you either don’t get any response or they promise to fix and nothing happens - extremely disappointing!
I assume the management of Qobuz is of lower quality or they don’t care about continuous improvement. I am considering shifting to a competitor. Pity that such a promising app gets ruined by simple mismanagement.

Via app purchases and bulk downloading

Still can’t make purchases via the app, a year in from 1st complaining of this. I would buy so many more albums if I didn’t have to sign into a PC Every time i wanted to make a purchase. Why is this still an issue?? And I want to be able to download all my latest albums in groups, not singularly, and have a preselected download resolution set to speed the process up. Docked a star for slow advances. Otherwise, it looks good and performs well.

Best for serious music lovers but .....

Great sound and curation. Interface is elegant and detailed. Speed is not always fast when selecting new tracks or albums to play. Would really like an in-built equalizer and balance to adjust for my ageing ears. I have subscribed for two years now and my CD player has become defunct.

Good catalog, poor recommendations

Great catalog of cd quality or better, however you have to manually create playlists because there’s apparently no rhyme or reason to what it suggests if you just wanted to listen to a selection of music that's likely to match your tastes.
Nothing more painful than settling in with all your quality gear plugged in and nothing to listen to. I wind up signing up to Deezer just to get new stuff. Painful, because I cant switch my family to qobuz (poor recommendation engine), and deezer doesn't offer hifi streaming on family plan.

Much more informative than competitors

When it comes to high-res streaming it can be difficult to have a truly unique selling point, and claims that service x is truly better than service y usually all balances out ( and often in the case of missing tracks on albums is the result of the labyrinth nature of record companies dealings rather than the streaming service itself). Not sure an average persons hearing can really distinguish between hi-res and cd quality but I will take the audiophiles word on it.
Where qobuz really stands out is the wealth of information about artists, albums and even individual tracks that is instantly available at a click... so what you might ask I could do that via Wikipedia.. well yes and that’s what I would have thought until I tried it... it’s amazing listening to an album and being able to put it into context immediately. It’s this (plus the ability to purchase and download material on the desktop version) ... all for well under £20 a month... that’s a couple of cds cost a month for access to a larger catalogue of music than you could listen to in a lifetime, that made me switch my service after a trial. Glad I did and the experience so far excellent.

Music Streaming’s Best Kept Secret

This really is music streaming’s best kept secret and gets closer (more than any other service) to that elusive “experience” of physical recordings that can convey a sense of quality and presence; something that has been relentlessly trivialised in the age of streaming and playlists. There is no compromise made on sound quality. Qubuz has the biggest library of Hi-Res recordings in the industry.
I love this app. My favourite things are the way in which the background subtly incorporates the colour scheme of the album. The way you can swipe left to see track listings and right to see your listening history (complete with beautiful icons and type font). Such a simple yet beautiful interface.
The album meta-data is superb, especially for classical. The type fronts are beautiful. The fine-grained control you have over importing albums for off-line listening. The ability to navigate quickly to album credits and to organise music by record label. The ability to organise your libraries as a grid display and alphabetically.
In summary, the iOS app is superb, both in terms of its ease of use and beauty. It remains a sitting target for acquisition for the intellectual property of its design alone. It really is head and shoulders above the rest.

Amazing!!! The best!!

It is just amazing. A monthly subscription for every single song or piece ever written!
It has every album I’m looking for. I can listen to it offline- completely perfect!!! It even gives me recommendations. For example if I listen to Anne Sophie Mutter playing Mendelssohn- it’ll ask me if I want to listen to her album of Tchaikovsky!!
Brilliant!!!!

Good but can be better

Firstly, the search function could be better at finding individual tracks, not just artists
Tracks released as single items are considered albums so appear under albums rather than tracks
Duplication is not picked up so if you have a large playlist and forget what has been added it’s possible to add a track more than once
If I choose a track from favourites returning to favourites displays a blank page and I need to select Artist tab then Track again to refresh and see all the tracks
Overall though good value for high quality streaming at this time

Great now HiRes works with Chromecast

I love the music curation in Qobus. I always find their recommendations fit my music tastes. My Denon AV amp doesn’t support Qobus HiRes natively so I didn’t subscribe. However a more recent release of the app added Chromecast support so I can use that instead. Steaming works almost perfectly for HiRes with my Chromecast Ultra (I don’t know if standard Chromecast supports HiRes). The only small problem is that the app loses connection to the Chromecast and then starts to play the same music on iPhone speaker (but a bit out of sync). This is easy to fix by closing the app and then letting the Chromecast work on its own; but would be better if app and Chromecast stayed connected.

Money well spent

I moved over from the costly and overhyped Tidal about 3 months ago that was plugging stuff I never listen to,algorithms should pick up on that.
Qobuz is like a breath of fresh air to me.
I bought the year package to reduce the cost even further and the sound quality is absolutely superb.
Standard Red Book generally sounds great as it is and HiRes is an added bonus.
I’d 100% recommend this music supplier.

Good

I’ve enjoyed using Qobuz since they started I’ve had issues with their apps on various platforms over the years but the apps seem to be settling down now.
Sound quality is top notch and if not it’s probably an issue with the source out of their control. So please keep up the good work my favourite streaming service and where I buy music too.

Awesome Quality Playback

Playing back music from Qobuz is second to none, the quality is noticeably better than most others.
Notwithstanding, I have got a few criticisms:
1. Why would Qobuz have an artist on but with only some of their work? For example, Tank and the Bangas are on but their best work, “Tink Tank” is not there. So too is Jens Kuross “We Will Run”.
2. Searching is too cumbersome, one has to go back, back, back ..... to get back to the search page. And, searching titles is almost nonexistent.
3. Most time people add artists and titles in a particular genre to their library because most other people are listening to it. Qobuz could indicate the artists, songs that are trending. And, within the artists’ publication, their best work according to Billboard, download statistics, or something.
4. Music lyrics should be included. And, where Qobuz do not have the lyrics, subscribers should be able to add the lyrics.
With these adjustments; in my humble opinion, Qobuz could quickly become the BEST.

Useless offline library

Guys, seriously, you need to fix this. When there are multiple albums from one artist downloaded into the offline library, selecting offline library then the artist in question you get less than one second to see the list of downloads then it automatically switches to the full available online list by that artist. Therefore the only way to select a particular album is to first know which album you want then look in albums list alphabetically; a total pain in the a**!

Excessive French?

The basic functionality of this service is quite good, with a choice of streaming /download quality. As with most streaming services the search facility for Classical Music is very poor, with little ability to search for composer/work/artist. Instead you trawl through all the works by a particular composer. If you queue a number of works to download to iPhone it sometimes stalls and you have to delete and redownload the works. It doesn’t seem to like a large queue of downloads effectively.
One of the irritating characteristics is the excessive use of French (I suppose it’s a battle with the Academie Francaise) - for example a CD that was published with English front cover and description, gets translated into French which is pointless and irritating. Most of the error messages occur in French, and while my French is perfectly acceptable at this level, if they really believe that this is an international product then it needs to get rid of this excessive French, and give the user the option to select a language. Show French CDs in French by all means, but don’t employ lots of translators to turn English releases into French. Better still just run in English only.
For the classical enthusiast probably the best of a bad bunch.

Awesome audio quality

Qobuz discovery and recommendations, their essential discography, has done more to broaden my musical listening range than anything else recently. As a sublime subscriber for over a year, I've seen the back catalogue expanded including music missing when I first joined. The amount of 24bit audio added though is outstanding and sounds amazing on my hifi. Are they better than the leading streaming music service? Depends on what you measure, the app usability and search isn't as good but the music curation is better and their main benefit is studio master streaming audio, from Daft Punk to the London Symphony Orchestra.

Misleading

I’m writing from the perspective of a non-subscriber who simply wished to listen to the Hi-Res music purchased from the Qobuz site.
I bought two High-Res albums on the Qobuz website, at which point I was directed to listen to them via the app. However, you are not informed that as a non-subscriber, you can only import them at CD quality (16 bit vs 24 bit)—CD quality being a different, cheaper option to purchase. It’s not an outright scam as you can download the files on a PC and then sync them to your iPhone, but had that been made clear, I would have bought them from a cheaper site (the convenience of the app was a selling point for me).
I feel that having to subscribe in order to properly listen to the music that you have actually bought is an exploitative model for an app.

Qobuz is unique

Qobuz provides fairly comprehensive coverage of all music genre and is probably the best for classical and jazz although most of my off line downloads are indie, country and western and popular music. I was a Tidal flac subscriber but on extensive tests found Quobuz had the edge on sound quality. The big plus with Qobuz is Hi Res and no other music streaming service offers this with the ability to buy Hi Res music at considerably reduced prices, if you are a Sublime or Sublime plus subscriber. You can download the Hi Res files to your PC or other devices and own them for use anywhere. Most of my listening is via iphone, dragonfly red and ie 800s. I also use the Onkyo Hi Res player and load the Hi Res albums on this to play them without risk of connection loss. I agree with other reviews that the Qobuz App needs improvement - it is unpredictable particularly when downloading for off line use and you find its stopped half way. Also the feature of adding albums that you just want to sample to your off line files is a pain. Despite this, superb sound quality and Hi Res makes Qobuz unique. Qobuz - please improve the App and get 5 stars!

Room for improvement

Qobuz is the only hi-res streaming service out there and it has undeniably changed for the better in recent years, and navigating the app is much faster than on some of its Swedish competitors. However, there are still some annoying bugs and questionable functional/ergonomical choices that need to be adressed.
when network connection is lost, playback stutters and the app comes back to the home screen, even if I am browsing e.g. the settings menu.
If switching from cellular to wi-fi or the opposite, or when switching between wi-fi networks, Qobuz loses the connection seemingly forever and the only way to play any music again is to manually exit and restart the app. This doesn’t work for commuters constantly switching between public wi-fi and 3-4G.
Audio output selection button is designed like a share button.
Audio output selection doesn’t let you switch between bluetooth and internal phone speaker or jack.
No equalizer.
‘Offline library’ should only show tracks synched for offline playing. Instead it shows tracks not yet in cache, as well as tracks temporarily in cache because they were played recently.
On the iPhone, playing Qobuz over Bluetooth results in either MP3 or ALAC recompressed into the very lossy SBC format being pumped into the headphones. Having the option of AAC would greatly improve sound quality, which I thought was Qobuz’s key selling point.
