Really poor, doesn’t do what it claims.

Absolutely no point for this app. Riddled with so many errors you wonder if they ever tested it. Checked in online, app doesn’t show boarding passes despite it’s description in the App Store saying it does. It does say I have checked in but also says I don’t have a seat. So I can safely assume I’m standing all the way from Glasgow to Dublin then.

This needs updated asap folks, it requests we upgrade but as we click into it it only gives us an option to open then takes you around in circles the website will work I had to go to my friends work to use a PC and print a boarding pass out manually I have no idea how I’m going to get my pass for going home usually a good company disappointing

Poor service

The app does not have the capabilities you would expect from other airlines. Bare minimum quality, no way to update allergens through the app (and no option to input allergens either on the site…). Should look into having a bit better user experience in the app, people would download more and get much more use out of it.

Scam artists

Used it a few times to go from Southampton to Belfast and back. When I go to select the flight back I change it to Belfast to Southampton and for whatever reason it changes back to Southampton to Belfast. First time I thought I made a mistake. Then the second time I noticed it was doing it. They charge you more than your flights worth to cancel or change and it’s a nightmare using this app. They’re money grabbing and non customer care orientated. One of the worst businesses I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I never write reviews however, this seemed entirely necessary due to the lack of empathy these people show.

Unable to Retrieve Boarding passes

I’ve used Aer Lingus for many years with no problems until I downloaded this app, every time I try to check in it allows me to go all the way through but fails to issue a boarding pass for me. It comes up with an error saying failure to retrieve boarding passes leaving me with a having to physically go and get a printed boarding pass in the airport. Issue needs sorting immediately

The app is as poor as the airline is

I flew Air Lingus about month ago and got delayed by bad weather. Not their fault. I ended up stuck in Dublin airport for about 9 hours. Given a €15 voucher which didn’t work. Awful experience. Still don’t have a refund. The app meanwhile is pretty clunky and doesn’t give the user much confidence.

Worst airline app I’ve used

This app is really pointless other than seeing your travel times and checking in. You can’t see whether your ticket is economy or business, no where to add bags to check in, no ability to change your seat during check in, no way to order wheelchair assistance. Quirky

Have just turned off notifications owing to the departure time within one of them being 45 minutes after the actual departure time. There are other inconsistencies such as sometimes I can choose my seat and sometimes I cannot even though many are available. On usability I do think the layout of trips could be better.

Don’t use app to pay

I’ve just used the app to make a booking. It told me it did not take my payment so I pressed it again. Now 2 emails have come through with different booking references. And money has been deducted from bank account twice. Trying to get through to Aer Lingus on the phone and website chat box but still no one answering after 35 minutes.

Impossible to check in

Unable to check in on this app as the Passport expiry field doesn’t allow you to select any date other than todays date. You also cannot chose to manually type the date in and override the apple date section wheels.

Shamefully utter rubbish!

Unlike other airlines (let alone in their own network) you can no longer change your seat in the AerLingus App or even on the website. You need to call their Customer Services (well that’s what they call it🤣)
I had to preserve last year only to fall asleep in the car after nearly 2hrs, despite the horrible repetitive music and dreadful hypnotic announcements!)
So how are these alleged upgrades an enhancement? More like an embarrassment!!

Now unusable

So I go it I the App and it suggests I upgrade. If I select dismiss then trying to do anything in the App brings up the upgrade dialogue again. On the other hand if I select upgrade then it doesn’t upgrade, it takes me to the App Store where the only option is ‘Open’ which takes me back to the App on my phone where I can continue going round in circles if I like but can’t do anything else. I wanted to book a flight but can’t. Anyone think to test the upgrade process before launching it?

Check in works

Checked in fine in the app and added boarding cards to my Apple wallet without an issue.
Guess the earlier problems mentioned by reviews have now been fixed.
The baggage situation remains confusing however, one bag carry on? One bag and a small bag? 7kg? 10kg? Seems to be a different. Answer on the website, the app and the emails.

Functional, nothing more.

It’s easy to book flights and check in but that’s about it. The app is light years behind Ryanair’s offering which has a day of travel assistant, live gate and boarding information, digital inflight magazine, on board menu, ability to pre-order food & drink, early access to sales etc.
Aer Lingus has fallen way behind with its digital presence and needs to catch up, fast!

THE WORST flight booking experience I’ve ever booked before!
First time flying with this airline, I booked the flight in the app. First time I tried to pay flight fare is using Apple Pay, not succeed but I have been charged, and the second time I tried to pay using credit card it says all set(successful). Then go back to my trip it says cannot find my booking(even no booking reference). I tried to contact with customer service the line is busy(no answer) and the Facebook messenger agent is also replying so slowly.

Even if app opens you can do anything but look? All this bunf you can’t change if brought through a agent. I’ve a flight with you not them? Embarrassingly bad app

Absolutely the worst airline app I have used to date. Problems with apostrophes, Apple Pay doesn’t work, no co-ordination between bookings made outside app and boarding passes, doesn’t keep current page when leaving and returning to the app, currency incorrect without possibility to change, credit card details have to be entered manually, it’s buggy and it crashes…took an hour to try to book a flight which typically takes 10mins with other airlines.…even the feedback form doesn’t work on the app lol

I’m not sure what they’ve done, but between when I used the Aer Lingus app between December 2019 and now, something must have gone wrong. I used to have no issue with managing my booking, checking in, or getting my boarding pass Now I can’t do anything without running without something going wrong. The worst travel app in Christendom

What can I say…..? As a portal for booking flights, this app surely wins the award for incompetence above and beyond the call of duty. I’ve absolutely no doubt that this app alone has cost Aerlingus tens of millions of euros in lost revenue and whoever is responsible for its design, functionality and maintenance would benefit from being retrained as an inventor of escape rooms. As for specifics, nothing works really. If it had been submitted as an art installation in a Berlin gallery, I’d have chuckled. Instead it stands here on the World Wide Web as an example of how e-commerce can go tragically wrong.

Poor IT systems and poor App

I don’t normally write reviews but when a company makes it so hard to buy their products I’ve got to rate the app. I am so frustrated- can’t even log onto the app, I have no idea what they have done to the password system but it’s useless.
Update on 27 October: I received this reply from guest services on 16th Oct: I apologize for the difficulties you experienced using the Aer Lingus Website and App. There were technical issues with all platforms regarding login yesterday, that the IT Department are working quickly to fix. We hope to have this resolved shortly.
It’s nearly 2 weeks later and it still doesn’t work on either website or app. Very frustrating.

Actually works

Thought there was no way an Aer Lingus app would be any good. Happy to eat my words. Checked into my flight and got boarding passes within seconds not the usual trawl of consuming menus or info requests. Am shocked. Nice job Aer Lingus, did not see that coming.

Oh my word!

Trying to find out why I can’t check-in online (less than 24 hours before my flight leaves, no sign of an email), so downloaded the app. About as much use as a chocolate teapot. Sadly, very similar to their very unhelpful website. I had booked an aisle seat, and just had a ‘chat’ with someone (I’ll be polite and not mention his name...) He told me everything’s in order, I MAY be able to change my seat, but he can’t do anything about it. This is my first time with Aer Lingus, and whilst I appreciated the ability to go through TSA in Dublin, if they can’t get their act, website or app together, it will be my last.

The app should reflect your status in the apple
Wallet downloaded boarding pass rather than you having to faff about to get back to the app to show check in staff you have status.

Blame it on the customer

Trying to check and choose a (free) seat on a flight that Aer Lingus have farmed out to another company. ‘User generated error’ says the app. What a load of tosh. As previous reviewer suggests, use Ryanair. They wouldn’t let this happen. I’ve no financial interest in this. I just want to get my boarding card. Market share plummeting is my guess.

Can’t check in using the app

I downloaded the app to be able to check in on my phone and receive an electronic boarding pass. At 30 hours before the flight I tried to check in and at the seat selection screen, all seats had a zero charge. I selected a seat and tried to check in. It gave me a long-winded error about the payment not working and failed. I was unable to check in using the app whatever I tried. At no point was I able to select the number of bags to check in.
On the website I was able to check in and it instead told me that my seat would be assigned to me - I could not choose it. It did give me the option to input number of checked bags.
The whole purpose of having the app for me is to be able to check in and that functionality simply doesn’t work. Therefore I cannot use this app.
Also when I tried to add my boarding card to my apple wallet it gave me an error ‘80’ and also failed. This app is quite simply terrible because nothing seems to work.
Do you actually employ any testers?

Blinded

The app aggressively turns your phone’s brightness up to the maximum setting anytime you access a boarding pass, it does not gently increase the brightness like Wallet - just BAM and your eyesight is gone. 💥👀
Sometimes you think you’re clicking a ‘My Trip’ link but by the time you get there it’s morphed into a ‘Boarding Passes’ link so you can get a nice little surprise retina scorching too.
There is no way to export flight times to your calendar 👎🏼 or if there is it’s impossible to find.

Unworkable app...

I REALLY want to use Aer Lingus over Ryanair... but you are making it really difficult for customers...
1) When I try to book a flight the app keeps telling me I can’t book a seat (even when I don’t try to book one) and won’t let me continue on to complete the booking of the flight... This has happened several times over the last few months.
2) The app and website also don’t properly confirm once the booking has completed and I ended up booking a flight twice a number of months ago as a result. I had to ring up customer service to get a refund...
The website is not much better. Please fix the app or I will be forced to use Ryanair, who’s app always works...🙄 Aer Lingus needs to keep up with the Technology or it won’t be able to compete. Now is the time you should be capitalising on Ryanair’s ridiculous charges and prove your Customer and Technology focus... ☘️
Please confirm when the next update will be available and that there is a team actually working on these fixes.

Phone number

Useless to me since it won’t let me enter my phone number. It provides +44 automatically... then it asks for Prefix(?) and then the number. It allows only 9 digits of my 11-digit number to be entered. I tried all sorts of combinations... none work. Without a phone number, you can’t log on. (No point using a home number if I’m not at home.) All the other sites - Ryanair, EasyJet, British Airways, FlyBe - have sensible boxes for entering phone numbers.

Very poor

Having been a regular user of the EasyJet app (excellent) and the BA app (good) I am very disappointed with this offering. It doesn’t seem to remember bookings, and never seems to associate a booking with my account, so I am forever having to reenter my details. Online check in is only open for a short period and is easily missed. Reward points take forever to be credited to your account, and sometimes aren’t. It seems to sum up the new age of Aer Lingus- RyanAir service without the RyanAir prices.

Useless

I fly in 20 days and still have no idea if I'll be able to use the app to check in and get boarding passes. I don't have access to a printer if it doesn't work the day before hand. I've not been able to add a trip I booked before downloading the app onto my account and since the last update the app crashes as soon as I try to use it. Totally pointless app, having used the British airways app that works flawlessly I know that this one should be able to function much better.

One of the worst airline apps

Rubbish app. Need to search for my trip by entering surname & confirmation number every time you use the app. Recently had trip which involved 4 Aer Lingus flights & the app would not allow me to check in for any of them! Kept getting error ‘mobile check in not available for this flight’! What’s the point then?!

Won’t allow me to access boarding pass

Have already checked in but app says I cannot check in so could not access boarding pass - had to print one out and no concerned that will need access to a printer format return leg. First time with Aer Lingus and so far hasn’t been straightforward
