They do not update preferences for how many people the meals are to be for

I recently changed the number of people for whom meals were be prepared for a short period of time. When I changed it again to a smaller number of people. Hello fresh didn’t change the setting in its system. Even though I chatted with an employee and asked if smaller meals would be available from 1st February onward, and a week later. I called again because I had 2 people in my preferences. When I accessed the menu, I saw that the meal would be prepared for 3 people, not 2.

Amazing! But…

I’ve been using HelloFresh for about five months now and absolutely love it would recommend! the meals are very tasty and well seasoned however the app constantly has problems: from not being able to add meals to not being able to change them or the app just not logging you in at all… if that was fixed this would be an easy five star

Duped! Won’t refund or cancel.

I saw the Hello Fresh 50% offer, was looking to save money, and refresh my eating habits. When signing up you submit a payment of £1 which is promptly refunded. Once into the App and viewed some of the meals available, I decided that Hello Fresh wasn’t for me. So left the app.
Thirty minutes later I received a bank notification of a charge made by Hello Fresh for my first order.
I contacted Hello Fresh and expressed my desire to cancel not just this week, but the next four also that were preselected for me by Hello Fresh. I was told that I would not be able to cancel this weeks and that the delivery and charges will still apply, despite my registration being less than 2 hours old.
I merely enquired, and was charged without completing the order myself, it was completed automatically by Hello Fresh. Really disappointing that there are still companies out there who entice you in, charge people, and then refuse to refund. I just want to make others before they sign up and are charged also.

disrespectful and low quality

each meal costs about four times as much as just buying the ingredients yourself. i understand that i pay for convenience, but this price is too high. i remember first hearing of hello fresh and it being advertised as a way to save money, and it was. it also used to come with much more recyclable packaging, in my last box the only thing i could put in the recycling bin was the box itself, which was about three times larger than it needed to be, and the three paper bags that some of the ingredients came in, which were also largely oversized. the company model has now turned into a hope that the customer is too late to cancel a box to charge them for just one more. i ordered my last box a day and a half before its arrival and it didn’t seem to be an issue, but all other boxes get paid for five days in advance with no way to cancel? suspicious. i also cancelled my subscription and requested the deletion of my account, and the response was that they’re not going to delete my account because they’re not actually legally required to do so. gross. the app is also very low quality and constantly glitches, once having told me that a box had been cancelled and then i got charged anyway with no way for a refund

The Cookbook of archive recipes has disappeared from the app. I’ve bought hundreds of boxes over the years and now I can’t find my favourite recipes when I want to make them again. I used to use this service a lot. Just decided to restart again and the ingredients for all three meals have just all been thrown in the box jumbled up. App is utter garbage and getting worse…!!!

Edit: Now when you tap the current week’s recipes you see your upcoming order for next week. Well done, people. You must be so proud of your work…
Edit: recipes for previous deliveries are missing!
I’m confident that nobody at HelloFresh actually uses this app, nor do the app developers. The new horizontal scrolling is terrible, terrible UX. Massive regression. Horrific. Never seen anything like it.
The timers have a conflict if two timers share the same name, and the labels are difficult to see when the phone is in dark mode. Some of the instructions have no timers at all.
The instructions in the app vs the paper recipe cards are sometimes radically different. I assume the app is more correct?
I have reported this a very long time ago, yet HelloFresh don’t care to fix it. Reduced from 3/5 to 1/5 stars.
I’ve been a customer for over three years, getting a box weekly almost all year. Maybe I should go to your competitors since you don’t care.

WARNING: DO NOT USE

I placed an order which, without my realising, defaulted to an old postal address. I contacted their support team to correct the delivery details, but they were rubbish. I was informed that nothing could be done, even though the delivery is due the next day.
I find this unacceptable. A reasonable business would allow an address update prior to dispatch, particularly where perishable goods are concerned and where the customer is left with neither the product nor their money. Refusing to take any action leaves me paying for food that I cannot receive.
They have many hidden policies like a five day amendment window which is not listed anywhere during the checkout process. I think where a business truly stands out is how they provide support to distressed customers and it was like I was dealing with a bunch of cowboys. Never using HelloFresh again.

Good but could be improved

I’m a long time user of hello fresh, and I love this service, but I’m hating the recent trend of most of the ingredients coming loose in the box. Normally they were divided into labelled brown paper bags which was so much more convenient.
CaRa13579

Committed to paying before even looking at the menu

I thought I’d give hello fresh a try. I signed up and then went to pick some meals. I found a few that I thought would be ok but on further investigation I realised that the meals I chose contain peanuts which I am allergic to. I know all companies have to say that peanuts are used at their facility but these actual meals were peanut meals. I couldn’t find anything else I fancied but it would not let me cancel my order. I deleted the meals from my basket but it still took my money. I have managed to cancel my order after phoning the helpful customer services. The app doesn’t work on my phone and the website doesn’t work brilliantly . I do have a very old phone. So at the moment hello fresh isn’t for me. I may try in future as I understand the recipes change frequently and I’ll probably have a slightly newer phone soon.

Satisfied

I’m very satisfied with this arrangement. Firstly. I’m able to look at the calories and proteins as I’m into quantified nutrition and select my meals accordingly. I would encourage the team to focus on more low calorie high protein meals. Secondly, it saves me from the hassle of intensive grocery shopping. I can vouch for the ingredients being sent as they seem high quality. The meals are tasty and don’t take long to prepare. You can maybe work on sending chopped garlic instead of sending a whole garlic bulb. It will really save time and hassle. Same goes with the onion as well. Also, try to keep all meat options as an extra as a lot of us want to avoid eating red meat as it’s not particularly healthy and would like to replace them with chicken or prawns. The meals so far are seemingly reasonable in terms of pricing as I’m enrolled through a programme hence saving money. Overall very happy and satisfied! Look forward to the some positive changes as suggested above :)

Very bad experience

I have used hello fresh before but not after 3 months I ordered a box after so many emails. I checked and updated the address next day( 6days before delivery of box)
They delivered it to previous address and when I asked them about this they said I did not update it on time and so they delivered it to previous address. And when asked about it the advisor was very rude and “said you ordered 3 boxes before about the deadline, the box will be generated”and I said I did not know there where any deadlines this long far and after asking to do something he said at max he would give £10 after I spent £45.
I mean he was very rude and only saying you missed the deadline and you are wrong not us. It was my weak meal. And that’s not a small amount and on top the tone of him and constant blaming is what I have never seen been I. Customer service.
P.S when I updated my address they never mentioned that they will not update this for current order. Or got delivery address on tracking. Very very upset.

Good, but there are issues

For what it is, it’s good. The recipes are tasty and easy to follow, and the ingredients are MOST of the time, fresh. I’ve had to complain about rotten veg a couple of times, but I have been compensated. Deliveries have been late in the day most of the time turning up at 9 or 10pm, so I have had to make other plans for dinner last minute, and one of my boxes didn’t turn up at all. The meals are usually very repetitive or similarly linked with the exception of a couple ingredients, but that is partly due to myself having to opt for the veggie boxes. Lastly, when I tried to cancel my deliveries for a little while, HelloFresh claimed not to recognise this cancellation, and sent the box anyway, despite me not paying for it. I was then charged last minute, £50 for the box I didn’t want and then had an excess of food. If they got their delivery partners in check, and sorted out the odd mouldy ingredient or replacement ingredients, and took payment BEFORE the box was prepared, I’d have no issues with HelloFresh, but these issues have cost me money now and it needs fixing. I won’t be doing HelloFresh anymore and will try another service. But, I would still advise to try HelloFresh as it does make life easier at times and the meals, for what they are, aren’t bad.

I’ve stopped the ‘what’s for tea’ dread!

Since I lost my husband in 2022 teatime has been a problem from start to finish - writing the list, shopping for and buying food, deciding what to have then cooking it.
My husband really enjoyed his meals. He quite liked the food shopping, getting his go-to favourites and planning meals and we shared the cooking. It was something we mostly did together so it’s a constant reminder that it’s just me now.
I’m quite willing to slam another potato in the microwave but I know that’s not really good enough so, at the start of the year I decided something needed to change and Hello Fresh is it. Both our children have used HF quite a bit when they’re up to their eyes in work so I knew the outline of it all. I’ve just finished my first week and I’m very satisfied with everything so far.
The meals are tasty and a bit of an adventure with everything provided in the box and, as I pick the meals for two, I have one batch of cooking to do for two days’ meals - result!
I’m enjoying them and I’m also enjoying the release of not having to think about what I’m cooking tonight! I’m not saying I’ll use HF indefinitely but they’re a great way of taking the burden off you.
Thank you Hello Fresh!

Absolutely delicious food!

So far we have had 9 meals and every single one of them was equally delicious. All recipes are very easy to follow and do not take very long to make. The only thing I have to mention is that when choosing your meals you have to be careful of the extra charges for premium meals, however customer service were extremely helpful and refunded some money due to me not noticing this was the case, really fantastic customer service. I have heard previously from friends that sometimes the meat can go off quickly however we have not had this problem at all, everything smells and tastes amazing. We were initially just going to try the free box and cancel but we are now addicted to Hello Fresh and will be enjoying the meals for a long time to come.

As a mum of two I used to constantly struggle with what to cook and where to find the ingredients and how much to buy it was so stressful but now it’s a fun experience for all of us we get to pick and add what we want to our box and it’s the exact portion size so there is no waste I always freeze my meats I get to allow more flexibly on the meals it’s so much more cost efficient and predictable I no each week what it’s going to cost and when it’s coming out of my bank the food is always fresh and in perfect order only once I had an avacado missing it was simple for me to report and was issued with a voucher immediately via email I could redeem I cook and share all my meals on social media this is a brilliant service would highly recommend It really has changed the quality of family life at home

Food is repetitive and service is bad

I have been using HelloFresh for several months and at first the recipes were quite nice but after 3-4 boxes the recipes are very repetitive and it’s the same always and if you choose something different then it costs a lot more than usual. Its better to buy it yourself as it’s cheaper and you get a lot more as a daily basis. But the real problems started with the delivery of boxes. They kept the boxes in random places in the building and it makes it harder to get it . I found my boxes in open conditions too because of that and also pretty banged up. Once I didn’t receive my box and I couldn’t report it so I blocked all payments and cancelled the subscription but they keep req payments and now I get emails from other credit agencies to pay for something I didn’t get and hello fresh is not helpful at all when asked about it . They just asked me to settle the payment. That’s all they said . When I asked for proof of delivery they just say we have the delivery no. And our system shows it’s done etc.
So overall, wouldn’t recommend. Sooner or later you face problems and they put it all on you.

GREAT ideas, LOVELY recipes, BAD quality meat

I’ve had hello fresh for quite a while now and I have had great service, great recipes and lovely food. The only thing I really dislike is the quality of the meats. If you’re not bothered about what part of the animal you’re eating then it will be fine for you. But if you are then a quick insight to the meals would be,
The chicken is 90% of the time full of things that’s not chicken breast or thigh and requires cutting and trimming all the bad bits off. The beef is so filled with water and fatty beef that by the time you’ve cooked it there’s hardly anything left in the pan and brown lumps of fat. I have chucked most of the meats I get with the packs in the bin and nearly all of the time I’ve bought my own meats which completely ruins the whole idea and convenience of hello fresh and makes it a lot more expensive.

poor customer care

Not the best experience. Was using the service for a while and had minimal complaints. The food was good and the ingredients were portioned. It has come down to the appalling customer care that has left a sour taste for hello fresh. I used the live chat feature to cancel my subscription because i could not afford to pay it and had been religiously skipping the boxes. A week after i had cancelled it and been assured it was cancelled and i would receive no further boxes i was emailed to say they had sent me a box. I was abroad at the time and by the time i got home the food had spoiled. The box was sent after my subscription was cancelled and was not pre ordered beforehand as I was skipping every week. Due to lack of finances the money was not taken out of my account automatically and as such I still have a standing order bill with hello fresh for a box I did not order that was automatically sent long after my account was cancelled that I cannot afford. I began receiving emails from hello fresh about this outstanding £30 and attempted to email their support team, receiving no response, and attempted to call their support phone line, again being unable to speak to anyone. Eventually I attempted the live chat feature again, and through no fault of the agent i spoke to (Dževad) who was very cordial, I was informed there was nothing I could do about this payment. I think overall I’m just very disappointed in the customer care, how difficult it was for me to contact someone to talk to at hello fresh and the inconsistency between what the original agent informed me of and where I am left now.

Amateur into Pro

I’ve never really had any confidence in cooking, and then when my wife was looking at an opportunity for her to grow within the existing business and that meant having to work away for 2 to 3 nights a week I thought the only solution for me was to look at an option of having food delivered to me with instructions straightforward easy to follow that would make delicious meals and hello fresh was the answer.
It’s turned me from a very poor cook into an excellent cook with lots more confidence in the kitchen. I love preparing food and ideas for the future after these simple instructions and recipes take around 20 to 30 minutes of my time at night to create the perfect meal for me and my children.
It just takes all the stress out of having to think about what to make for tea whilst I’m at work when I know I can just walk into a simple recipe with all the ingredients ready to go and the food is absolutely delicious

Great concept but let down by delivery of service

The Hello Fresh business model is good. They offer o good range of recipes with all the ingredients delivered to your door. They supply detailed recipe cards providing a step by step guide to preparing your meal and deliver the exact quantity of ingredients required to produce the recipe. They offer meal plans for three or more meals per week and are supposed to provide fresh produce but by the third day some of the “fresh” ingredients are wilted, soft or going black. On some occasions there have been missing ingredients or recipe cards which is very frustrating, although Hello Fresh do give you a credit for missing ingredients if you can be bothered to phone them. They select the recipes for you and you have to delete the meals they have selected and replace them with your own menu choice. If you forget or can’t access the website for any reason, you will receive the Hello Fresh menu choice.
So yes it is a good concept but the delivery needs improvement.

Delicious & sooo convenient

Hello Fresh has been a game changer for our family! It’s so easy to choose the meals for the week(s) ahead with the app. Everyone has a say in what they fancy. It’s ordered, delivered and stored in the fridge. We decide what we’re having on what night and whoever is home cooks now.
The recipe cards have step by step instructions, so no more relying on me to cook! Anyone can follow this.
Be careful not to allow meat to go out of date. Once I had pork mince which needed to be eaten before the Friday (delivery was on a Tuesday.) You are in total control of how many people you want meals for, what you want to eat and skipping a week or two for holidays for example, is easy to “suspend”.
Above all, these dishes are delicious! I was a bit sceptical, but my first box cost me £22 so it wasn’t going to break the bank if we didn’t enjoy them. However, every one of them is amazing and we’ve tasted 15 so far. Try it!!

Not even if you paid me to get it!

Saw a deal online and thought I would check out what seemed like a good idea to get some variety on our dinner recipes. Order it, was looking forward to trying it. On the day is delivery that could come anytime between 7am-7pm, 2h before the cutoff I receive a message saying there was an issue with my delivery in transit I wouldn’t receive it or any replacement. Great. They refunded my hello fresh account but not directly the bank. I was a bit annoyed but decided to cut them so slack so placed an order for the following week. Kept receiving emails saying I received my delivery asking how was it and if I could rate it. Then noticed they charged me for my second delivery instead of using the funds I already had paid for my ghost first delivery. Tried to contact costumer services they quite literally blew me off. When I explain they said there was nothing they could do and tried to placate me with discounts. I told them the money was not the issue but the flakiness, lack of communication on their part and to be honest terrible customer service and problem solving was and therefore no I wasn’t after discounts I just wanted to cancel my account and get a refund of all the money they had already taken from my account. I was told that was against company policy and was just not possible so could I please be understanding of their situation. I told them they should be the ones looking after the customers not the other way around. They said ok let me see what we can do and left me hanging for 40 min and in the end never got back to me. Don’t use this service if you don’t want to risk going through some really unprofessional organisation issues and appalling customer service.

So inferior to Gousto! Left in lurch on first 2 deliveries..

Having been a very loyal customer with Gousto for 4 years I decided it was time to give HelloFresh a try. Such a bad move as have spent the last 2 weekends chasing deliveries. This weeks resulted in me being left in the lurch with no food. No explanation but the delivery that was expected on Saturday didn’t get delivered at all. Liaised Saturday night via chat to be told it would be delivered today Sunday. Found out this morning that my box had been returned to sender. Appalled that I have been left in the lurch again as last week my delivery went missing resulting in my son having to look around the village to track down. Have been refunded but not been offered any compensation or replacement box. Had to pay £40 for a last minute takeaway last night and now have to spend my Sunday with no food in the house and will be food shopping! Disgraceful. Not to mention the rubbish chat line where every few minutes the chat would disconnect and the next advisor would have no knowledge of who you were. Straight back to Gousto!😡😞…

Disappointing

My wife did Wife did 3 meals for two pools for 3 weeks . One week a recipe card was missing and one meal kit/bag was split when placed into the box it was shipped in as there was no damage by courier to box . When my wife’s promotion ran out she quite obviously didn’t want to renew . I thought I would give the serivce the benefit of the doubt and this time ordered 4 meals for 3 people over 3 weeks . Week one was fine with a full order that wasn’t damaged with all 4 recipe cards. However ….. week 2 was missing 2 recipe cards and week 3 (which turned up today ) was again missing 2 recipe cards (I was given the same recipe card 3x!) and 2 of the 4 meal kits were packaged split and damaged , one of which even leaking inside the cardboard box it was delivered in . Again there was no damage to box from courier so I assume it was clearly packed carelessly.
Over all 1 star . Very disappointed and I won’t be using Hello fresh again and neither will my wife .
Decent app however seemingly impossible to pull up or reques missing recipe cards .

Exceeded expectations

As me and my partner work full time I decided to invest in hello fresh. Only 4 meals a week as I work until 19:30 and my partner comes back home at 16:00. Extremely easy for gorgeous meals, everything is calculated to be in date for at least 5 days after delivery, packaged beautifully, recipe cards included and just enough for two people. If I’d wanted to cook all 4 meals and have to buy all the ingredients myself it would be way more expensive, also a trip to the shop after 12 hour shifts at the hospital in my only day off is never appreciated and very often when wanting to try a recipe the shops don’t provide just enough of the items you need…and the rest might go to waste. I’ve never been so happy to see an empty fridge with HelloFresh bags in. Super convenient, cost effective, tasty, fresh and good quality ingredients. Guys, do not hesitate and try it! I would rate 10/10!

VERY IMPRESSED

I have to say I was sceptical but thought I’d give it a whirl for a week or two. My intention was to try it for a couple of weeks with the new customer deals then stop which I’m sure is what a lot of people also think. I have been so impressed I’ve kept going.
The food provided is all lovely and fresh, packaged & delivered exceptionally well and comes in the exact amount/measurements needed for the individual meals so no faffing about measuring & weighing. The menu cards list all the ingredients for that meal with step by step instructions, even down to how long to cook something on each side, which oven shelf, exactly when to add what, you literally cannot go wrong. The cards show you calories & nutritional value & allergens & you can use them again & again in future.
We’ve (myself & 17 year old son) had around 20 different meals so far & have loved every single one, fresh, healthy & full of amazing flavours & I’ve gone from not enjoying cooking, to finding it really therapeutic, music on, following the instructions with a fantastic meal at the end.
It’s very good value, almost a week worth of evening meals for us for around £40 & there’s no wastage as you get the exact amount you need.
If you’re not a fan of cooking, struggle for inspiration or just don’t know what works & what doesn’t, seriously give this a try!

Great customer service

The food is always great from hello fresh. I’m a uni student and started using hello fresh in an attempt to eat more than one vegetable a week. The meals are always delicious and it’s affordable enough that me and my flat mates saw it worthwhile to continue past the half price first box(obviously it also gets cheaper per person as you add more servings).
However the main reason I continue to order food from hello fresh is the great customer service. One week when I forgot to cancel my delivery as my flat mates were away and could not afford the box on my own I was very generously refunded half the price of the box, after calling to see if I could cancel it. Every other week or so they send some Guu puddings in the box free of charge. The free boxes I have been able to send to new customers has now got several of my friends into hello fresh aswell.
All round great food and great service, I could recommend it more

Great App, Great Food and Great Service

I have used HelloFresh for nearly 2months now (potentially longer) and the app is so simple and easy to use!
I can honestly say HelloFresh is brilliant for people wanting to learn to cook food which isn’t too difficult and still taste great. It’s so handy having all the required ingredients and nothing goes to waste now or forgetting stuff at a supermarket. The food I have received has always been fresh and well packaged. The only 2 cons is... one it’s a little pricey and 2 occasions (so not often) they forgot 1-2 ingredients for my dishes but then I’d contact their customer support team regarding the issue who are extremely well spoken, trained and polite; they always refunded me generously, even if it’s just “credit” for a next purchase. I would highly recommend HelloFresh in addition to the App as it’s so simple to navigate, order and plan your next deliveries.

Very Disappointing.

Started off good. But as time went on problems kept occurring. From missing ingredients, to the wrong recipe, to out of date chicken! The food often runs out before the five days so you are limited in what you can eat and when. For example the chicken might go out on the third day meaning if you wanted it at the end of the week you’re screwed.
I also find the menu items very repetitive; they seem to be obsessed with pasta and potato. It’s also a bit of a con, the price they say you’re going to pay each week is only for the menu they choose for you, which nine times out of ten isn’t what you’d want. All the nicer meals you have to pay extra. I was expecting to be paying around £38 a week but when I actually selected the meals I’d want it turns out to be £50+ week.
They only ever give credit and never any money back when they mess up, so currently my account is in the plus but I don’t think I’ll be ordering any more. And good luck contacting customer services.

Family convenient!!

Starting using Hello fresh a few weeks ago. Found that as a family it’s been really beneficial for a few reasons; firstly there is no waste! I can’t remember I had to go through the fridge and throw away contents of meals that I hadn’t the time to cook or forgot about! Secondly, the family are eating much better with a varied diet, trying new foods and enjoying the opportunity to help cook also!
I find it’s easier to budget per week, especially when I know the meals are set and will be cooked. I’m less tempted to get take away because I find cooking the meals enjoyable! Also I enjoy and look forward to the meals as they are really yummy! It’s worth mentioning I have a busy family of 5 and the portions are massive! We have large portions anyway but we don’t notice a difference at all, however we have to avoid certain meals because there would only be 4 provided. (Although I could purchase an extra in advance!)
I think, give the trial a go and then cancel should you not find any benefits.

Disappointments

Essentially, we do love Hello Fresh and mindful of the pressures of Covid - I have given ‘slack’ on moaning! But as a comment - when we started with ‘Hello Fresh’ it was pretty faultless. Recently, we have had a spate of ingredients missing. Initially HF would inform us if they couldn’t get an ingredient item - so I at least had time to go out and get it. Not now! Last week no carrot in Prince Harry recipe, the week before such a small carrot for two people it virtually went unnoticed in the recipe. The week before that a rotten onion (totally unusable!) and before that - no star annis. Apart from losing the will (not - to complain) but rather to point out the shortfall; I also find it very difficult to find where I can get in touch with HF to alert them. I have found it in the past - but more by chance; I find it very difficult to just ‘get in touch’ with them. Eg: I can’t find it in the icons at the bottom of my weekly order page.
Additionally, when we started, we were regularly offered duck and fish as a regular menu choice. Now, they appear a lot less frequently, and when they do - they always have a +payment attached. A little disappointing.

Very tasty

Dinners are very tasty. Clear instructions. Have been a repeat customer for some time now. Occasionally the meat has a short date on it, so if you’re picky, you’d have to make a decision on which meals you eat first however, we’ve eaten ours even when the meat has been two days out of date and not had gippy tummies - perhaps because the meat is vacuum-packed. Occasionally the veg has looked a bit limp but still edible. We are repeat customers and are very happy with the service. What I like most is I don’t have to think about it - I look at the menu cards we have received and each card number corresponds with a brown paper bag with the ingredients for that meal, so I take out the appropriate bag and get cooking! It has also expanded my own cooking knowledge as I use ingredients I wouldn’t normally use. Overall I’d say if you want the convenience, go for it

A few improvements required.!!!!

Enjoy the recipes very much but disappointed because increasingly we are not receiving all the ingredients. It has happened quite a few times so much so that we have stocked up on noodles etc and ingredients that we are likely to need. An odd time is not a problem it has happened quite a few times or the ingredients are not very good. The quality of the chicken thigh is rubbish and we feel we have to add a chicken breast to it so that there is enough and it’s edible. Also we received the smallest lime I’ve ever seen the other week and some veg are quite poor. At the moment receiving a box suits us and during lockdown we have become more interested in cooking again and we are enjoying the experience so please try to improve the service because it increasingly is costing us more because we are have to replace or make up the ingredients. Look forward to improved service,
Many thanks, Stella Redmond

Just Brilliant!

I love it, been using Hello Fresh for a while now and it’s just brilliant. I tried using the old recipes and ordering bits direct from shops to see if it's cheaper, but there’s only a few quid difference so unless you eat the same stuff every week you end up chucking out that extra leftover stuff you buy anyway, and shops don't always have the ingredients you need. I like the convenience of it. You don't have to weigh anything, it's all just there in pots ready to tip in and the recipes are really easy to follow. I stopped for a week but I found i really missed doing proper cooking from scratch. It’s just simple and easy. Plus you don't have to think what to get for dinner, you just scroll through this week's options and it's delivered to your door. Perfect for me as a working mum. Kids are trying out new foods too. We've eaten a different meal every night for past 2 months. I really do love it!

Spot on!

Hello Fresh has added variety to our lives! I’m not the world’s biggest fan of cooking but the simple instructions and having the ingredients all ready and weighed out takes the frustration away for me. I hate buying tons of herbs and spices for a single meal, that isn’t actually very nice and they just sit on the shelf for five years before I throw them away. Hello Fresh has reduced my food waste drastically. The kids love it and it’s something fun for us all to get stuck into. It’s great because you can choose what meals you want week by week. I just wish they did a box for the whole week! 😁 Some people say it’s an expensive way to cook-yes it probably is a bit more expensive than what you’d buy from a supermarket, but how much of that would you normally waste? The recipes have all been delicious and every. Time we say “That was the best one yet!” 😂 Honestly, just try it and see for yourself!

So handy

Love Hello Fresh.
Been using the service for the last 6 months.
4 meals a week for 4 people!! So at maximum capacity :)
The recipe ideas are delicious and and varied. No huge skill set or equipment needed. Even feeding a 5 year old and a 3 year old, they’ll have an go at the more ‘exotic’ choices but there are plenty of more traditional options for the less adventurous.
Only occasionally have we had ingredients missing/damaged. But even then, it’s been easy to do online chat with customer support and no quibble credit to my account to cover the cost/inconvenience.
The delivery service itself is great. Our provider is DPD and they give you a specific hour slot for their arrival. You can use their app to request safe place if you won’t be home to receive.
The packaging including the boxes, the ice packs and the insulation are all recyclable. 👍
The Hello Fresh App for choosing your upcoming menu, cancelling a week etc is very easy to use.
Also it’s very useful for following the recipes..has a helpful timer feature for when you’re cooking each component of the meal...for example timing the pasta, stuff in the oven etc etc.
All in all, I would recommend Hello Fresh for its convenience, value for money, as well as giving me inspiration for interesting, tasty, fresh meals.
Highest form of recommendation????? My family don’t look forward to the 3 days of the week that aren’t Hello Fresh days!!!!!!

Very pleased...great food!

I was sick of cooking and eating the same thing every week and so tired of food shopping, I thought I’d give this a go. Every meal we have had has been delicious. It’s great not having to haul all that shopping home. Delivery has been spot on and It’s not bad on price either because you get everything you need in measured amounts, unlike supermarket shopping if you wanted to try something different you would have to buy a full bottle of this and entire jar of that, which is what’s costs you. It’s very flexible so I can change deliveries to suit my shifts. With about 30 recipes a week to choose from there nearly always something interesting to try, or if I don’t fancy anything I can skip a week. The recipes are really easy to follow. The only thing I have had to put in myself for these recipes are olive oil, salt, pepper, water and the odd dash of milk... you get everything else, right down to spuds. Love it!

Good app and great service

Been using HF probably for about a year, and even in the midst of the pandemic we only had one late delivery (one day later) and have only had two breakages where a sachet of vinegar burst once and this week an ice pouch leaked. But the food is almost always delicious, easy to cook and varied. Loving the new customisation options, although not sure I’d pay for most of them. Also like the fairly recent addition of veg sides (very reasonable prices too) as I often found the veg portions a bit small or meals too carby without enough veg.
suggested improvements: a way of seeing at a glance if you have already reviewed (and most likely adapted your menu choices for a given week) - I can often not remember if I’ve already chosen for a week until I review the menu again and realise I have already done it!
Second: gluten free options. My husband isn’t coeliac but he can’t eat lots of wheat. Many of the dishes are pasta or noodle based which he can’t eat and this limits our choices considerably. We have occasionally ordered a dish we really like and swapped out the pasta or whatever for gluten free from our own store cupboard. But then we’re paying twice essentially, then we have a cupboard full of regular pasta/noodles that we can’t use. Would be good if this was a customisation option as well.

Not Consistent

We rejoined Hello Fresh a few weeks ago, finding it an easier approach to dinner since we don’t have to think about what to get for dinner, or suffer the poor stock in the supermarkets that stop you from cooking full meals. I had an issue with 3 recipes with some ingredients in each box being inedible, I got through on their Chat service and was credited to be able to go and buy those ingredients to complete the recipes - it was inconvenient but followed this.
The next week I had ingredients missing, so again, via Chat they credited me and I picked up the missing items.
This week - it got to 4:30pm, our boxes have been delivered by DPD each week by 3:30pm so was getting concerned as I hadn’t received a 1 hour time slot delivery - contact HF by chat, and whilst they were looking into it for me I suddenly had an email from the delivery team to suggest that my box had been damaged in transit and I would not be receiving one this week!!!!!!!! They credited my the full box - which I had already paid for but they were not supportive to MY circumstances that having already paid for dinner - it was Sunday, the supermarkets were closed - still not able to work due to Covid - and now I have to not only find & finance food for dinner THAT evening but for 4 more evenings too!! So I was paying twice in times that finances are important!! So so disappointed! I believe our box was missed off the despatch - because DPD would have still been delivering and given me a delivery window in the morning! And wasn’t it convenient that I received an email whilst chasing it myself!!
I was offered a refund instead of the credit but it would take 3-5 days and so just in time for another box to come to me!
So for 3 weeks in a row, my issued got worse! We are seriously considering continuing - the recipes are great but if they are unable to be consistent, then it takes the fun out!!

No delivery.

I signed up and ordered my free box, I was told to wait in from 8am until 7pm, notifying me of the hour that I will get delivery. That never happened, probably because I never got my delivery, didn’t get a message until 4pm to tell me, had me waiting around all day for nothing. If only the incompetence ended there, I was told I would get credited a free box as I hadn’t even tried their product yet, but amazingly they tried to charge me for the next week and on my account it said my free box was delivered! How I am supposed to sign up and pay for the service if you can’t even commit to the first week properly. It’s unacceptable because we’re talking about a food delivery, part of someone’s diet, the company I supposed to represent an ideal, but they undermine their own value and in my eyes look like hypocrites. As long as everything runs smoothly I am sure HelloFresh is great, but as soon as there is an issue it seems like they’re incapable of fixing it. No communication so far, but they keep happily trying to take my money. Avoid using them, eventually other better run companies will come along and expose the failings of HelloFresh.

Bad app and poor first experience

We made a mistake with our first order and it’s proven impossible to fix. There’s no way in the app to amend your first box - as in change the box type or number of people it’s for. We accidentally chose a 5 person box and there’s only two of us. A disturbingly easy mistake to make. I found it almost impossible to contact support, with the app redirecting me to a broken website with a webform that can’t be submitted, but eventually I found a phone number and got in touch with a person on a horrendously poor line - I could barely make out the speech over the distortion. I was put through a ridiculous number of questions before I was allowed to actually describe why I was calling.
anyway, I was assured that my subscription was cancelled and I would receive a refund, but having received the cancellation confirmation, it says I will still be receiving our first box - for 5 people when there’s two of us.
My experience so far has been awful and I cannot recommend hello fresh at all. My fiancée used them in the past and tells me that items would arrive with battered packaging with the contents of fragile spice pots etc spilled out everywhere. I was only tempted to join by a 50% off offer but it’s so easy for it to go wrong and so difficult to fix things that I wish I hadn’t bothered.

A Culinary Feast.

What a marvelous way to shop and harness your culinary skills. You choose your own menus, lots of options for the whole family, state how many people your cooking for, if your having friends over up the portion in your menu for that dish. Boxes arrive on the set day always delivered on time in time and options to put in a safe place available. Produce is fresh and of high quality, spices and herbs are fresh too. The only thing I have had to add from my cupboards are salt, pepper, milk, butter and water. Step by step guide easy to follow instructions and you can have it as quick and easy as you like. All receipts available on line too. Hello Fresh has a great customer service Dept if you have any problems. If your going on holiday no problem stop the box for that week at no cost to yourself. Lots of benefits for passing on a voucher to your friends and family. Needless to say I would highly recommend HelloFresh to anyone.

Over a year and a half in

My wife and I continue to be impressed by new meals or variations on similar ones. Compared to what we’d (or most) would cook for themselves you get so much more variety and the chance to try meals you wouldn’t normally.
I’ve recommended the service to many friends and family (via a free weeks trial) with the majority of them still using HelloFresh.
On weeks where I haven’t remembered to update the menu selection and have received meals I wouldn’t normally choose, I’ve been surprised at how tasty they’ve been.
Customer service have listened to feedback 1, reintroducing the bags for each meal and 2, adding a selection of other offerings such as the roast. Although they haven’t yet added a ‘game night’ choice for more snack like food when friends are over.
I’ve deducted one star for the times a menu card has been missing (we’ve used the menu card on the app wish is perfectly acceptable) or an ingredient however, I’ve always been happy with the response from customer services when reporting such issues.

Brilliant!

I was introduced to Hello Fresh by my son who sent me a voucher for a free week but I have been using them ever since). He himself is a chef and he has been very impressed (he works long hours and lives on his own so doesn’t always have time to sort his own meals out - he cooks a meal for two then takes the other portion for his lunch the next day). I love the simple recipe cards and the way each meal is bagged up individually. The meals themselves have been very tasty with a good selection to choose from. There has only been 1 week that I skipped as there were not 3 meals that I fancied. Delivery is very good by DPD, I have mine left in a safe place as I’m out at work and the freezer packs certainly do their job! For me it takes that age old question of ‘what do we have for tea tonight/what have we got in the cupboard or freezer’ out of the equation! You could say I’m lazy or should plan better but frankly I can’t be bothered! Our kids have left home and I work full time so this stops me from still cooking for a family but then eating it all! So I say ‘Thank You’ to Hello Fresh!

Socially irresponsible

My first order was due today. Mid afternoon I got a stock email saying it was cancelled and here’s a small credit. I don’t believe they didn’t know sooner than mid-way through delivery day. If they’d given me more notice I could have compensated. Now, I have to go for an extra, unnecessary, food shop contrary to all advice about not going out and risking others. Socially irresponsible approach. I can understand them not having staff to take calls at the moment but have been shocked at how difficult they make it for you to find ways to contact them even in non-covid times. If you’re going for that approach you’d better have an up to date website and App to compensate - but they don’t. The website says everything’s fine. The App shows a box has been delivered. What’s the point of a food delivery if they tell you three hours before dinner that your four day food order (that you’ve shopped around, on the assumption it’ll arrive) is cancelled. What’s the point of the App and the Website when they don’t match reality? If they can’t cope with the volumes they shouldn’t be taking on new customers. I’d have much rather been turned away as I could have planned accordingly. They’re not acquitting themselves well in the current circumstances. My advice is only use them if you’re desperate and have food in the freezer in case they let you down last minute.

Fab service!

We have been using HelloFresh for a good 8-10 months now, and really can’t fault it. My husband loves to cook but I was lacking inspiration and motivation so thought we’d give it a go. We both work full time with demanding jobs and have a young child, so this is easy and requires no thought for a basic cook like me. It’s actually restored a lot of the confidence I was lacking in the kitchen. The meals are tasty and good sized portions too. We do try to track the amount we eat as being on the road a lot, you do tend to rack the calories up - the menu cards allow you to do this. The only critique I would give is to be able to reuse the menu cards, it would be easier if they listed the amounts of things - rather than “a sachet” or “a small bag of” - that way you could recreate them yourself with the correct ingredients. Other than that, it’s 5 stars and a thumbs up from us!

Food for Love

I’m definitely a fan of Hello Fresh. Not only is it tasty and healthy but it also opens your taste buds to new foods. That normally you may not be so adventurous to try. The app goes hand in hand with this, not only does it make choosing you next weeks dinners but it’s a cooking helper. The ability to chose your selected meal showing the ingredients and the easy step by step guide for cooking. My absolute favourite and I don’t know have I cooked without it is the easy timers. After finishing one step you set the required timer and move on the the next. You can set many timers at once as required whilst cooking. Then, when it’s timed out it sends you a notification which tells you what has finished cooking so you can continue or even just take it off the heat. I’m a fan of easy stuff and this is definitely a easy but completely useful app to have.

Using as part of my diet

I’ve been using HelloFresh for a few weeks now, mainly as part of a calorie controlled diet. Cooking is not a problem for me as I am a decent cook, but portion control is not my strong point.
The convenience of having the food delivered each week is undeniable but I am on the fence regarding value for money as I am sure I could buy the ingredients at the supermarket cheaper. However, not having any waste and the time saved not shopping obviously help offset this.
The app is simple to use, skipping weeks is easy, changing menu choices is a doddle. The only criticism I would have is that the calorific value of each meal option is not shown on the main weekly menu page under the imagers of each dish. As I am restricted to meals of 600 calories, this means I have to go in to every dish to find the ones I can have. Please can we have this information added to the menu page so it is easy to see?

Save time, save money, save on waste

Hello Fresh has got us cooking more meals from scratch, despite both of us being busy and working long hours. The time saved shopping is great- we can just head straight home- and there is no temptation to buy extra, unnecessary treats as would be the case with a trip to the supermarket so we’re eating less junk. The meals are varied, easy to cook and delicious. There’s no food waste as you cook everything that is delivered so it compensates for the price being higher than it would be bought from the shop. I think we’re actually saving money! It’s very easy to skip weeks if you’re going away- we skipped about 4 weeks by using the app and simply clicking on the button. I definitely recommend Hello Fresh if you want to spend less time shopping and want to eat more varied, nutritious meals.

Hello Fresh We Love You

I have to stay I was rather sceptical about Hello Fresh, yet another fad! But my sister-in-law went on and on about them and after a couple of months I caved in and thank goodness I did because these meals are delicious and easy to cook, no more thinking about what to cook, no more shopping for ingredients and absolutely no waste, thirty meals later and we haven’t been disappointed once or failed to produce a restaurant standard meal. Plus my husband has become my sous chef and does all the prep which I then cook.
I particularly like that fact that HF provide nutritional information, so I check on carbs, hence I have lost weight and my blood sugars are down from 54 to 49 (in three months) which is one point away from being pre diabetic (42-48 is the pre-diabetic range).
That aside my husband and I both love these meals and cannot recommend them highly enough, cooking has become a pleasure and the results extremely satisfying.
Finally if you are still in doubt get someone to send you a recommendation and your first three meals for two will cost £9.99 a saving of £20, plus you can skip a week or cancel at anytime - having said that I am confident that you will be delighted with the choice of meals, the step by step recipes and the doorstep delivery.

Take the stress away

I used hello fresh about 3yrs ago and loved it then but then my children came home from uni so stopped it.
Now they are older I mentioned about starting it again as I find it a pain trying to decide what to cook, they agreed so here I am telling people how good it is.
First of all it take the stress of what to cook and also you can look at the menu and change them if you don’t like them, it helps with portion control as I am a feeder and they are all balanced. Most of them only take between 30-40 min, the value for money is a plus as well because when you go shopping you tend to buy all of rubbish and stuff you don’t need so i do an online shop for the other stuff I need for my home so it is a win win.
They arrive well packed and you can choose what day is best for you and my family are enjoying them so far. I would recommend this to everybody as it is good to try different things and it is healthy so give it a try.

Fresh produce? Not all the time

As any family I plan my meals out for the week. I follow the plan of putting the stuff away in the correct place as soon as possible after delivery. I look at the use by date on the meat (especially) and on the other aspects of the meal eg salad / vegetables etc that come in the respective bags for the recipes.
On a couple of occasions we have come to open the meat and it has gone past usability despite still being in date. Eg when opening a chicken packet (still in date) but it was grey and its smell was repulsive.
I did complain and got £10 off the next box. However the next box the salad, whilst also still in date had gone past the point of no return to use and again another meat product in the next box wasn’t great either.
I started out loving these but find now I skip weeks and weeks as I really am not that sure anymore! I keep going back to give it another shot but the last two times I have be left disappointed.

Fantastic service, great food!

I’ve been using Hello Fresh for several months now and I can’t understand where the previous review is coming from. I live in East Yorkshire. Delivery has always been spot on: if you’re not going to be in you can specify where to leave it. The ice packs mean the box can be left for a while and remains chilled. It is always well packed. I like the way each meal is in a separate bag which saves loads of time unlike (dare I say) Gousto where all ingredients are jumbled together. Ingredients are good quality (apart from a wilted carrot once), well sourced with brands I can’t buy from my local supermarket. Love the spice mixes. Recipes are generally great and go down well with my family. Also great for portion control if, like me, you tend to be a bit greedy. I’ve never found anything missing, instructions are easy to follow and accurate. And recipe cards can be kept to use again. Yes, it is easy to find recipes anyway but whole idea is that you have all ingredients in required quantity and I no longer have to traipse round the supermarket every night after work. If I sound like an advert, I apologise but I am genuinely impressed with the service. Keep up the good work Hello Fresh! Zoe Renfrew

Perfect for those busy weeks!

My partner and I both have management and director level jobs so some weeks our diaries are full of meetings and travelling and thinking and organising dinner at the end of those types of days is the last thing you want to do. HelloFresh takes the stress and hassle out of those weeks where we still want a home cooked healthy meal with minimal effort so we can get to bed on time, satisfied ready to tackle the next day and on weeks where our schedules are a bit freerer we’ll skip a week and get creative all on our own supporting the local independents. We are total converts even though we are not every week of the year users so don’t be put off if you feel you are losing your freedom of choice part of the HelloFresh values is to provide a good delivery service which can adapt to everyday life and for us right now nothing else fits more perfectly! Except maybe the money for a full-time live in chef but we’re working hard on those promotions!

Things could get better

Before anything negative is said, this is a great concept and it works so well for me. The fact that there are no left-over ingredients to store in your pantry after you've cooked a recipe, that everything you need for your recipes is nicely put in separate bags and there are color codes to help identify the recipes, that you can skip your deliveries with ease, that the ingredients are fresh and the recipes are easy enough for anyone to cook, all these things and more make for a wonderful product and I am grateful it exists.
The app and the website could probably do with more maintenance. They work well in general but there are still small bugs here and there which the developers could look into more often. Some examples would include:
- the Facebook login feature on the website doesn't seem to work as expected (shows an error indicating that an account has not been linked when in fact it is; works fine on the app though)
- the password reset process is frustrating as it doesn't follow the common flow
- deleting an account completely doesn't seem to be possible
- lastly, there isn't a place where occasional feedback could be given on the app/website features.
The actual recipes could do with a little more produce. The ones for four people are sometimes just about enough for 3 people, amd there often seem to be needed just a little more meat element especially for the ones featuring pasta, rice, or the like.
Customer service is not always great - from my experience. Some of the staff do not seem eager to help and lack empathy. Then again, this is yet a startup and while most things work very well, there has to be a lot of work due before eveything become truly amazing.

Failed to deliver and abysmal customer service

I have just cancelled my Hello Fresh and recommend that you go with a rival firm. I had signed up for the family box with 3 meals. I have just received my 8th box and finally given up and cancelled. The meals were often incomplete leaving certain ingredients out. The first 3 occasions I didn't ring as I could substitute with my own ingredients. However when I couldn't complete the meal I rang and was reimbursed £10. But the problem kept happening and the hello fresh bubble burst when I had a pan of fried onion sweet potato and lentils and nothing else the meal was incomplete and hardly a meal . We had a sort of inedible side dish. When I rang up I was offered a meagre £10??? I had to then drive to get some chips 14 miles away, so my meal cost me my hello fresh and the diesel, hassle and the price of fish and chips x4. Hello fresh was supposed to alleviate the stresses and strains of a professional working mum. Working along side my daughters in the kitchen producing healthy tasty nutritious meals was my expectation. This was sadly not the case.
The delivery by DPS and packing was always fantastic.

Poor app, poor service, poor communication, contents leaking or broken.

This App is ridiculous to manage. I've had numerous issues, skip weeks and still receiving the food I have no space for, I keep changing the plan from 5 meals to 3 but has no affect. They leave my box in my front garden completely exposed and the contents are always leaking and broken. Oh and once the delivery driver left my parcel in my bin. As a result of my complaints I was offered some credit for future boxes (which have not come off the price anyway - boxes I weren't even expecting). Told to give my unused hello fresh boxes to friends to advertise for them... I feel like I'm just being bombarded with food that I keep trying to skip or reduce but the app will do it's own thing anyway. My advice is take the recipes and buy the food fresh you'll save a lot of money. There are never any agents available to chat & communication is very slow - they're superficially pleasant and do not deal with issues at hand. Food isn't bad but you can get decent recipes anywhere right. I actually deactivated my account and it still took £50 from me after I insisted in an email that I do not want another box this month as it's a waste, in addition to skipping 3 weeks on my calendar - it's coming anyway. The concept is great but managed terribly. Infuriating is all I can say.

Just give it a go!

I had been cooking fresh for a while when one day around my cousins talking food his wife passed me a free HelloFresh box voucher which I took only on her recommendation, if it was from somebody else I wouldn’t of gone for it! How glad was I! So far I’ve only praise for HelloFresh, great app which is easy to navigate, good selection of dishes, easy to pause deliveries when going on holiday etc etc. When I was cooking fresh I found I had to make up meals according to what ingredients needed to be used up first...I’m a single guy so packets of veg last twice as long...so sometimes there was a little waste but with HelloFresh you only ever have a little too much of a particular ingredient, it’s upto you what you do with the bonus.
You will save time shopping and have a vast variety of meals which in my opinion are great to cook and are full of flavour, I guarantee you will be impressed.
I have tried to encourage some family members but I’m not sure they have taken it up but it’s their loss.
Just give it a go, seriously you will not be disappointed!
