Pilot the awesome F/A-18 Hornet in this highly realistic fighter jet simulation. Using physical properties of the actual aircraft, the simulation flies just like the real thing.
Interactive control overlays make it easy to use the extensive cockpit systems. It not only allows for input, but also provides feedback for aircraft systems such as radar mode or landing gear status. You control the aircraft's flight stick by rotating and tilting your device, or optionally using a compatible game controller.
Acquire a target on the realistically simulated AN/APG-65 radar. Then launch an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile and watch it track its target with its realistically simulated guidance system.
Because the game captures performance differences between aircraft, aerial combat is highly realistic. So when you tangle with an enemy MiG-27, real-world tactics can save your day.
Enemy pilots are skilled adversaries, proficient in dogfighting as well as ground attack. You may find yourself in a turning battle with a MiG-21 while simultaneously evading a SAM missile. If you can survive, you've earned bragging rights.
Connect up to four nearby players (within Bluetooth range or connected to the same Wi-Fi access point) for exciting real-time air-to-air combat.
Direct your wingman to fly in formation or to come to your aid. Request landing clearance from the control tower or get guidance from the Landing Signal Officer on final approach to a carrier landing.
The game includes 16 practice missions and 50 campaign missions. Increase your score with each mission and with every downed enemy aircraft. Earn awards and promotions as your career advances. Hours of gameplay wait.

Getting better!
I reviewed this game last year and was so disappointed with the way the views worked but alas with the latest update things are looking better! All we need now is the ability to pan around and be able to let go of the view so it stays in that last panned position, giving the ability to truly fly using the virtual cockpit. Perhaps double tap the view button to recenter the view to the front. That would be my dream and would get the full 5 stars! Please please please devs!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Amazing stuff
This is what I've wanted for a long time. There is no fighters on infinite flight and this is a really we'll put game. This is worth the ten pound all the way. It's also low on size. It didn't take up much storage. And the graphics are amazing. Even on an iPhone 4. That's what I operate on and my iPad. It's very good. Please get.

Best flight sim on iOS.
This was my favourite combat flight sim growing up, and it translates brilliantly to an iOS version. I'm not sure if I have played any other games with mobile implementation as good as this.
However, the campaign mode and middle avoidance have issues.
In campaign mode the earliest levels limit the type of weaponry you can have. For example, forcing you to take short range heat seeking missiles into missions which clearly need medium range radar guided missiles. Secondly, if an enemy aircraft launches a missile at you, you are as good as shot down. This needs tweaked.

Good game
I remember this game when It was out on the pc in the late 90's was a great game then and it amazes me that the game can be played on a iPhone! The game is very realistic compared to competitors but as a keen aviation enthusiast I need to say that the flight model needs to be improved and so do the graphics. It's just very 90's compared to say the game carrier landings or air cavalry and considering its double the price I kind of expected a bit more. I am however not a computer person so do t know how much processing power your phone would need to be able to keep up with all the graphics and the detail of the mission. A free flight mode would be great to practice carrier landings and to fly around a map just like the PC variant? Overall great job just look forward to more missions in the near future!

Very ambitious flight sm
This is a very good attempt at a fully featured flight sim for iOS. The visual are a little dated compared to it competitors. However there's nothing in the App Store that can compete with its realism. I'm impressed how the developers have managed to make the complex avionics work without keyboard shortcuts. If you like proper flight sims give this a shot. One thing I will say is it's a much better experience on an iPad than iPhone.

Best combat flight simulator on the iPad. No arcade style game. Proper flight characteristics, very challenging and yet still enjoyable to play. 10/10

Hornet
Amazing so realistic I'm guessing it will take many hours to master as this is the real deal. If your looking for real simulator this is the one the best on the App Store well worth the asking price. simmers buy it today.hope this sim keeps getting updated to make it even better

Beautifully playable
Having enjoyed many hours on the old Mac version and struggled to find another sim anywhere near as playable on the iPad, I didn’t hesitate to buy FA-18 Hornet. I was not disappointed. The beautiful, crisp graphics are back, together with the familiar old radio messages like “Hornet One, enter final”. I’m having a little trouble getting used to the non-keyboard interface and tilting the iPad instead of using a joystick. Also, I’ve been unable to find out how to ‘view selected enemy’, to check that I’m not wasting precious ammo. However, these are minor points and I predict that FA-18 Hornet will be well worth investing the time required to become familiar with the controls. Recommended.

Brilliant
I normally hesitate when buy games that cost above £4.99 because I usually find there not very good and terribly over priced.
This game however is well worth the money. Most flight simulators on the App Store are very simple in the way you can operate aircraft systems. This sim lets you operate the radar, various weapons, unguided and guided, carrier ops, there is other air traffic and I don't just mean one plane. There are lots! You can talk to the tower and talk to your wingman.
The graphics are reasonable but could be more refined however considering everything you can I do I can get passed the graphics.
All in all I would recommend this app to anyone even at the cost of £7.99 I hope they continue to and aircraft to this app or design others apps for other aircraft

At long last
This sim is what I have been looking for for along time a proper flight sim as there is a lot of rubbish out there.A few things for the future may be some tutorials on you tube as this would help visually.I have aerofly 2 and the detail on the F18 cockpit there is great right down to the indications for the undercarriage.maybe make the flight module with a bit more detail especially the undercarriage and maybe the nozzle movement when going in to full afterburner.possibly some vapour vortex trails to simulate Mach speeds and tight turns.otherwise great.keep up the good work worth the money thanks .
