Useless App
Yet again, a “smart” app that Compare the Market have managed to create a user journey that feels less like a comparison service and more like being trapped in a bureaucratic escape room.
You answer the questions. The apps nod politely. Then, with all the grace of a malfunctioning sat‑nav, they whisk you off to some external webpage where… you are asked exactly the same questions again. It’s digital déjà vu, but without any of the charm.
This is the great irony of modern technology: we’ve built machines capable of predicting our shopping habits with eerie precision, yet they can’t remember the information we typed in 30 seconds earlier. It’s the behavioural equivalent of talking to someone who keeps wandering out of the room miid conversation.
The result? A perfect storm of circular logic, wasted time and the creeping suspicion that the apps are less “comparison tools” and more “patience stress‑tests”.
Unbelievably useless, unless, of course, the goal was to compare how long it takes before the user gives up entirely.

I use this app without problems for comparing the market and purchasing insurance on a number of different products.
One of the reasons I use this app is to get the rewards which don’t seem to work and appear to say there is a problem their end

I’m sure this will be a superb app, unfortunately, if you use a keyboard attached to the iPad and have the screen in landscape orientation, you can’t use this app at all. Unless you tilt your head sideways of course.

Useless for energy switch
Beyond frustrating to switch energy, dumb app doesn’t signin primary acc holder or register new user (despite adding new user on f&f section so what’s the point). Therefore cannot claim rewards for switching. Was bloody headache also trying to use “Energy comparison” from their website on Mac IOS too!

You see this more and more, it’s just lazy app development and architecture.
Rather than having an app that features all functions, most of it is simply redirected to a web page. Might save development costs, and investment in decent professionals, but it’s a poor experience for the customer.

“Couldn’t be easier to use the app” says the blurb. This is not the case.
I’ve followed all the steps, got the app, registered, activated the rewards and when I go to get a Caffè Nero QR code I get “you’re not a member of rewards”. I click on the “claim rewards” button, confirm I’m signed up for rewards and repeat, only to get “you’re not a member”.
I’ve gone through this 5 times and I’m starting to understand how Sisyphus felt, rolling that rock up the hill.
If you’re going to make the claim “couldn’t be easier” you better be damn sure that’s true…

Super frustrated. Had been using the app successfully for a long time but now won’t let me log, in saying password or email is wrong. Even though I can log in on a pc, which is time consuming and not much help if you’re out and about. Have deleted and re installed the app to no avail.

I was told to update the App which I was expecting as I last used it over 2 years ago.
So I update the App but when I go and enter my login details for comparethemarlet it refuses to recognise my password, the same password and login details that work fine on my laptop.
Also on my laptop it says my Meerkat membership benefits are valid until July 2016 and we are now in October 2022. The company really needs to fix the issues with the App on the IPhone.

Signed up to their home insurance as it offered movies. App is a pile rubbish, can’t even launch. Contacted customer support which offered a number of solutions that didn’t fix it. Messaged them back for further help attaching a screenshot of problem. So far no reply from them after 4 days. I would not recommend anyone buy from them on promise of freebies which don’t materialise.

This has to be the worst app I ever downloaded. Took out car insurance today and I now qualify for the meals and movies.. yippee.. logged back into the app ( I last used it 3 years ago). All I get is you are a member till nov 22 . Download the app from the App Store , I go to App Store to download an app I already have click open and go back to the same page telling me to download app.
I am thinking the whole thing is a con and it’s no wonder you only got 3 stars , I personally think that is 2 more than you deserve.

Don’t have to be a mathematician to work that one out. 10% off takeaways, came up with two restaurants in my town (Bedford) Not tried the two for one cinema tickets but certainly not what its cracked up to be thats for sure.

No longer good
Tried to get a quote for home insurance and only came back with three companies. Looked at the companies that won’t insure and picked one to see why they would not insure. Went direct and got a quote straight away no problem. No reason given on the app why that particular company would not insure. Also we have no deliveroo or just eat operating near us so the meal discounts have never been used during lockdown or the cinema pass.

Why can i no longer get quotes from energy suppliers ? I have tried deleting the app & reinstalling but without success , i did have some quotes saved but these have vanished this has been going on for a while , are you still doing energy ??

I have used the 2 for 1 app over the last few years. Now whenever I go on it , all it shows is the loading screen with a green line going round the circle.... its stays on this screen forever! I have uninstalled it a few times but no change...

Used this app many times on many restaurants and cinema tickets and has saved me lots of money! Decent choice of restaurants that do 2 for 1, including a mix of chain and independent. And pretty much every cinema included for 2 for 1. Never had an issue. Only thing is you need to go on certain days, but not a problem for me as I’d rather go restaurants on a weekday anyway!

Not an app, a browser inside the app
Every time you leave the app to check some info needed to complete a quote, the app restarts from the home screen and you have to type in all the info again. This is because it uses a built in browser instead of being an app.

Used to be a really good app for meals but every week another restraint is removed from list and there’s maybe 50% of original restraints left.

Cant select or remember extra drivers
1. I find the app very frustrating and give up and use others because despite being registered if i want to select my wife to a new quote i have to key everything all over again. Other competitors remember all my users and allow key to select one rather than key in all the details again
2. Very frustrating that you ask us to remember the day of the month for all accidents and convictions going back many years. We can remember the month and year but never the day so we end up guessing . I dont trust you to pay out due to these errors
3. When an accident causes no damage to my car but the other person is at fault it asks us to put the claim amount in. We never know that and in fact dont get told even when its our fault so making us ring up what could be an insurance co we have not used for four years and remember all the policy numbers to find this info is stupid
No option to say dont know like other apps. You know this data in shared insurance data anyway so feel you make us guess then will fail to pay out

Saved nearly £20 at Chiquitos this week when I went out with my girlfriend... and have already made savings throughout the year on the latest films on Tuesdays and Wednesdays... this app has just made my car insurance seems a little bit cheaper now

1st time user
I went with the family to the local Pizza Hut in Lancaster and I thought I’d give this app a go.
I explained to the member of staff that I would be using the app for the first time and she gladly took me through the steps.
When we had finished our meal bursting at the seems really I always like to think that if I’m full aftertastes a meal then it’s been enjoyable
When it came to the bill time I didn’t know what to expect and to be honest I was shocked I’d saved £48 by using the app which amazed me ,
Another point about Pizza Hut is the service I am really impressed with the service nothing is too much for the staff and their advice is welcoming,
I will be definitely using this app in the future and especially at Pizza Hut Lancaster

Check before you buy
First time I tried to use the app I checked the instructions and it sat present the app when paying.
I presented and It was rejected.
I was then told it did not apply to all menus. The app should say to mention the app before ordering.

Location Services
Unsure whether it’s an iPhone or app issue but it constantly shows London as my location and when I try location services to get correct location it takes me to phone settings and there’s no way for me to give location services permission as no option shows. Having to manually search for my town each time but otherwise no issues. Great for checking films and local restaurants whilst saving cash at same time.

Poor app
This is not a good app; it is almost a link to a very poor website that takes you round and round in circles. It clearly doesn’t consistently link you account with your rewards - needs a lot more developing. Kept asking me to re- link my policy (despite having more than one) unnecessarily when it was linked off the first one (pet policy) which by then had disappeared but didn’t allow my car policy to link....good to have rewards scheme; if it works!! If not just Very frustrating.

Easy to use
A very good app, easy to use and easy to look up what movies are on and even pre book tickets, however over the last few weeks I am unable to find out what movies are on as it just lists one movie all the time I have tried to uninstall and reinstall as well as make sure updates have been done to no avail it is very frustrating.

Apps great when it works
I do love this app and in the passed has been a great saver when out and about with the kids / family and want to grab a bite to eat. However I am finding now the movies works fine but the meals no longer shows the places I can go or where is near me I have reinstalled and made sure app is up to date and it still won’t work so this is annoying other then this not working I found it great

Meals not so great
Films works really well especially with Vue Cinemas 4.99 offer
But The Red Lion in Norwich does not include Sunday’s even thought it says the offer is Sunday to Thursday on the app

Check if offers valid
Useful app (and it’s worked fine on my iPhone without issues) but it’s worth checking with the restaurant before picking on on the basis of the new 2for1 meals offer. I recently got lunch with a colleague in Chiquito’s and the offer was declined as we’d chosen from the lunch menu; rejection was via the billing system (and the waitress learnt it only applies to the full menu as the lunch menu was treated as already a special offer). Would be useful if the app was able to show such limitations.

Doesn’t stay logged in
Since an update, the app no longer crashes and exits on load.
Only issue now is that I need to log back in to the app every time. With a 1Password integration this wouldn’t be an issue. Once this is sorted then you can have 5*

Fantastic app
Just a tip for you guys but you can get the free cinema tickets from just buying 1 day travel insurance. I managed to find some through the site for a total of £1.22 and I’ve gone to the cinema every week without fail. Best £1.22 I’ve ever spent
