Loving it but tricksy

I love the app and the wide range of podcasts you have on here. It’s been my go to for years. Is there a way to keep the podcasts that I’m following sorted “earliest to latest”? The default always seems to be “most recent” but I like new podcasts and usually start from the beginning. Can that app or website remember which podcast you’ve listened to last?

Also on the web version it opens a new page when listening to a podcast and often that page doesn’t have the next podcast that should be coming up but a random date. Can that be sorted?

Otherwise I love what you’re doing. It’s very friendly and easy to find

I have used Podbean for years, sadly it has now become unusable. Podcasts freeze and continually buffer, I have to close the app and restart to get anything to play. After months of this I’ll get my podcasts elsewhere. Shame as it was such a good app previously.

Impossible to use unless podcast has been downloaded

Developers please fix this issue of episodes skipping. And please do not give me your standard response about the app encountering errors blah blah and the best workaround being to download. you have previously given me and another user from quite a while ago the exact same response. It would seem you have no intention of fixing this error.

Buggy

Used to be pretty decent despite nativagtion etc not being the most intuitive. However, recently it hasn’t been saving my place in a podcast making it frustrating to use as I dip in and out throughout the day. This is among other bugs. Seriously considering switching to another app.

Nice podcast app but some annoying issues

I replaced the Apple poscast app with Podbean and it was a great improvement. Being able to search for older podcast is a must. Sadly some issues are making the app annoying to use. First podcast are not found by the app as soon as they are released. Then the auto download doesn’t work when multiple episode are released at the same time, the download indicator is very buggy. I had issues where when I resume a poscast, it wouldn’t start where I stopped last time. The whole app feel a bit buggy. The ads are a shame on the free version.

The app is beyond glitchy and needs to be fixed

It’s been months since I’ve been using Podbean on a daily basis on my phone, iPad, you name the device. The app is so glitchy and doesn’t let you play the exact episode you want to play! It will start skipping on to a few episodes down the line, even if you’ve clicked on something entirely different!! This is definitely not an internet issue as I’ve used data, 5G and various wifi networks and it always does the same thing!! Please Podbean team fix this issue. It’s really annoying and irritating constantly having to restart the app just to be able to play the exact episode you want to play, this is a very basic thing.

Fantastic and Free!

I stumbled on this app when I was searching for some podcasts that I couldn’t find on the Apple app. Not only did I find all of the shows I was looking for I accessed and downloaded them all for free with this app and now have them stored. Also makes it very easy to record your own podcast if that’s something you want to do.

Confusing

I came across Podbean while searching the net. I am finding it very confusing to navigate and I am not sure if I am being charged for listening (I used my Appleid to download it from the App Store)

I am sure there is lots of very interesting content that is well worth listening to, but I am finding that being presented with a massive gallery of podcasts quite intimidating. I shall probably delete it and stick with the Apple Podcast App.

Lots of variety

Music can be played offline after it’s been downloaded, many different genres of music with podcasts and sets available to download from artists not typically found on other apps. Downloads are pretty quick and you can download multiple sets and as long as you have the space on your phone can download as many sets as you want.

Update: I’ve had Podbean for over a year now with no problems at all, awesome podcast app with lots of choices to suit every taste, the only downside is the fact there’s no equaliser but it’s not really an issue more of a niggle tbh, maybe this is something for the devs to offer long time users of the app in a future update

Brilliant podcast app! I love that you have the option to go through podcasts from old-new or vice verse. Other apps I’ve used don’t have this. If you want to listen to a podcast from the very beginning and there’s 3000 episodes you can be there forever scrolling to get there. So we’ll done for bringing this option in! Great content. Moving to Wi-Fi now much improved.

Wonderful content but downloads are very slow and using away from Wi-Fi can be very frustrating. Often many recordings never load at all, even on Wi-Fi. I persevere for the content but still annoying.

After I posted the above the developer got in touch and also made some changes. The app now works so much better away from Wi-Fi and the download speeds are much, much quicker. Thank you.

Very disappointed that after paying for a yearly subscription I have made favorites of all my books but many have file errors and won’t play even more frustrating is that I can see others have same issue repeatedly and nothing being done about it should have stayed as a free app feel I have wasted my money

I use Podbean to listen to podcasts while I’m at work. There’s tonnes of content and you can easily download episodes so you can listen without a signal. Podbean is as good as other providers that you have to pay for. I highly recommend!!!!!

Originally gave this app two stars because I had lots of trouble with buffering issues. Within a few weeks of posting my review, the app started working perfectly! The app team genuinely care about fixing any bugs and listening to reviews/customers. I have no buffering issues anymore and the whole app runs smoothly and easily as well as having a great layout. This app is MILES better than the stupid Apple podcasts app and what’s more the selection of files is fantastic! All my favourites are on here.

Karma Yeshe Rabgye - Buddhism Guide

Absolutely brilliant Podcasts. For a beginner when I first started listening to Yeshe he is fantastic at cutting through the ‘technical’ expressions and clearly guides you through a beautiful journey of discovery and learning. He has a very calm, down to earth approach giving you examples of how the teachings can be applied to ‘everyday folk’ like myself. The one you look forward to every Tuesday

The best golf podcast around, I have to smile when I here the dulcet tones of ‘Greetings’ from Steve and his much loved information on the ‘Egronomy’. Great banter between the lads (not forgetting you Barry, lol). However, as any experienced golf punter knows, there’s no false guarantee of winners, what you get is great all round, in depth information, so that you can begin to work things out for yourself, and an unfortunate string of place returns for poor old Steve 😂👍

Crashes so much I can’t use the app

As others have said, this app is totally unusable unless you want to listen to an entire episode in one, uninterrupted stream. If you pause, stop it playing for any reason, knock your headphones out etc. the app will crash and not work again for that episode for anything short of pretty much deleting and reinstalling the app. I can’t believe that anything is so unfit for its primary purpose - don’t really see the point of this app if you can’t actually listen to podcasts on it.

I have been listening to podcasts on Podbean for quite a while now.

The quality is always excellent with no dropouts, even when listening whilst driving.

The ability to download and keep your favourite podcasts is a favourite feature, it allows me to listen again at any time, in any location.

It’s more reliable than Apple Podcasts.

I only started using this app after the IOS 13.5.1 update destroyed my phone and I deleted as many proprietary apps as possible to prolong my battery life.

As I’ve stated, Podbean is a more reliable app but the sound quality is poor by comparison and there’s a bizarre problem with shows speeding up at random for short bursts.

I’ll continue using Podbean until Apple sort out the problems with IOS 13.5.1 but don’t expect I’ll continue using it beyond that due to the problems aforementioned.

I AM VERY IRRITATED

i downloaded this app because I wanted to listen to the Speak of the devil podcast and I can only seem to find it one here, it’s taken me four days to get through two episodes because your app is so bad. The episode will just stop and buffer for HOURS and I’ve tried logging out and in again, restarting my phone, uninstalling and re installing but none of it works. I’m now stuck on episode two waiting if maybe I will be able to listen to my podcast in a few more hours. It’s caused me so many tears and so much stress you’ve got to fix this honestly, it’s so annoying. Your app is basically unusable...

Great app but few perks

Great app use, idea and fit for purpose but I find the community aspect and overview is very basic and confusing. The community and users layout is weak, could do with more design and thought specially now that the app is growing with thousands of users

Some issues with call in feature saying you need headset, you plug headset via Bluetooth and still doesn’t recognise it, speaker sometimes doesn’t work, glitches, and the 2 hour limit is abit annoying. It should be optional if you want to keep the podcast going or end it, also it would be cool if you can keep a recording of the podcast or at least an option to.

Great app for anyone

This is a simple to use app to create podcasts. I’ve been creating weekly podcasts as it’s much easier for me to do anywhere I am and when the moment strikes me, which I then upload to the public on the same day each week. Just brilliant.

Flawed

When pausing a podcast to resume later the podcast will only replay from beginning. When removing AirPods and putting them back in the podcast plays for a second before pausing again. Some episodes released same day state they were released 7 days ago. Recommendations all based on something I listened to 2 months ago for 10 minutes instead of based on the 5 hours of various podcasts I subscribe and listen to each week.

EDIT: after dev update have to add all above issues have occurred on iPhone 6S and XS max over a period of 6 months before giving up on the app. It’s one thing to say you continually update, it’s another to ignore bugs that render your app useless.

Watch out for the tone!!!!

I just downloaded this app and went to record my first podcast. I would have presumed that the tone set to 0 would mean my natural voice would be recorded. In fact, I would presume that like all other recording devices, my normal, natural voice would be recorded, but no...I sounded like Mickey Mouse’s cousin. Total waste of time and I have to bin 25 minutes because I sound like I’m five years old. Would not recommend for this reason alone! Totally disappointed.

Ps. In response to the developer, I used my headset. But I would have never thought that the tone set to zero would automatically augment my voice.

Needs a recently played tab

I’ve not listend to much on here as I downloaded this app to hear a specific podcast (I listen on iTunes normally) the thing I find annoying is it’s not obvious how to find your library.

I’ve only subscribed to one podcast but I can never find it easily I have to go into my profile and find it.

Also when I’m halfway though listening and I want to pick up where I left off I have to go I’m and search for it again. Instead of having a recently played section

Quick response from developers

I left a poor review after my app quit searching and eventually required me to sign in again, after several years of not requiring anything. The developers got back to me within 24 hours and their fix worked, although I had to set a new password. So the fast response was appreciated.

That said, I was traveling and lost my downloads while this problem occurred. Additionally, there was no prompt from the app to tell me that a sign in was required, at least not until I appeared to have lost everything.

So still a bit grumpy but giving it app a second try, albeit with two other back up podcast apps.

Broken update *edit

Can’t even use the app because the “use as guest” button won’t work. I find my downloads and channels gone you better get it fixed FAST!

*Edit - the downloads updated and were found only after I registered. Have no idea if the guest log in still doesn’t work. Changed from 1 to 4 stars because I liked almost everything about the app before the last update.

Terrible interface, buggy, frustrating

Using this on an iPad and it is so frustrating how many times the app crashes or stops randomly.

Getting it started requires having to navigate an amazingly user unfriendly interface. Want to access the player controls? Scroll, scroll, scroll and finally get to the controls at the bottom of massive ads for other podcasts. Illogical!

The actual controls are tiny compared to the amount of space taken up by the podcast icon. Why? Surely they’re the most important part?

Got a web link to a podcast on Podbean? It’s useless. Won’t take you anywhere but the app home page. What’s the point of podcast web links if they don’t take you to the actual show?

Despite all this it is still better than the Apple podcast app, which speaks volumes about the shocking quality of the apple app.

UPDATE: lowered to 1 star due to the latest version removing all my unplayed and mid played podcasts. Gone. More than annoying.

Great Way To Start

We Know Sweet FA is definitely the podcast to listen too!

Really easy to start your own podcast. The team are helpful and willing to get you on there webpage as well to help promote. They even give you super clear instructions on how to get your podcast on the the Apple Podcasts.

The app is easy to navigate and use as both a listener and a recorder.

The website has some awesome features I am sure the Podbean team will look to build into the app. For example you can see where you listeners are from and this would be awesome to see in the app as well.

Thanks Podbean for helping me start my podcast.

Truly exceptional

There are podcasts and there are podcasts. From the moment you open the Podbean app you can see the quality of the layout.

If you are looking for podcasts of every subject known to man, then look no further than the Podbean. You will not be disappointed in my opinion.

I don't know if it's just me but the app is really glitchy. When you open the list podcasts from one creator, it requires pressing refresh button instead of refreshing the list automatically. If you wanna forward audio, it does not work 3 out of 4 times. downloading file does not work from the first time too. It's 2019 and the app brings me back old and unstable to iOS days. On a bright side, intelligent speed works really well, like that feature a lot.

Great podcast app!

I’ve been using Podbean for a few months now and love the recommendations, and the options to truncate silences and speed up podcasts when you listen back. I get through far more these days than I ever used to, yet somehow still have a backlog...

Not Able to Pause

This podcast service is unfortunately not useable on my iphone, because it will not restart after pausing, even after closing and restarting the application.

Also, when I first downloaded and registered, I got a strange email from them, addressed to a name that wasn’t mine. Even after emailing Podbean about it, that name still appears on my personal account.

I’m about to delete the app from my phone, and go back to listening to podcasts directly from the original source.

Love it!

I love this app it’s so easy to use and love down loading all the podcasts I like so I don’t waste all my data the only thing I have noticed lately is that it keeps freezing I’ve deleted and re-installed but it continues which is a shame but doesn’t stop me using the app

Love it!

Podbean has made it so easy for me to record an upload my podcast show “The Fight Village”. It’s easy to use and has lots of great functionality tools to help you get the best out of your show.

The only thing I would like to see is more podcast design themes. Aside from that it’s brilliant.

Works, but has annoying features

Constantly resets to default home view, so you can’t find what you were listening to again. Hides favourites, so I have to constantly use search to find the station I want. The menu system is horrible and user-unfriendly. The picture ads are annoying but do close when the x is pressed. The ads need vetting because some are 18+. Most of the ads are for trash products. Often does not show the latest podcast that you know is there, even when sort by date used. The whole GUI needs redesigning.

Great app but...

Podbean will, at any given time interval, randomly decide to forgot what I’ve been listening to and not allow me to continue a podcast from the place where I left off. This forces me to start again or spend time trying to find my place; difficult when a lot of pod casts I listen to are well over an hour.

This might happen the next day, but it’s even happened 10 minutes after putting it down! Very frustrating for what is otherwise a very accessible and intuitive app.

A Fantastic App for Podcasts

I’ve been using Podbean all year. It’s my number one source of information for triathlon, indie film production and business tips. A reliable and effective way to learn on the go. In the car, on the school runs, travelling to work and whilst out running too. Highly recommended.

Crashes after latest update

The app doesn’t open after the recent update. Also the app is slow, laggy and doesn’t remember where you left on on more than one occasion. Downloading and flicking through a podcast can be a nightmare no matter how fast your broadband is. It really needs sorted. Apple podcasts is still far better because of how smooth and easy it is to use.

Fix the speed, crashing, simplify the layout and Podbean could be great.

Dear Podbean, from a loyal user...

I’ve always used this app for my podcast addiction. Its most likely my most used app of all time. However, as others have said; it crashes every time i use it, without fail. Usually twice at least (within one episode) it will freeze and load without working again. I have to close the app and find where i left off, only to have more loading issues. Its become so difficult to have an enjoyable listen that I’m finally downloading other apps to potentially replace yours. I don’t know why I’ve stuck with your app all for so long, i guess because i liked every other aspect of it, and i assumed you would fix these issues. I guess i was wrong.

Battery Drain

I thought I’d finally found the prefect podcast app and even better, it’s totally free with no IAP, some of the podcasts play ads at the beginning but it’s hard to know if that’s the app or the podcast content creators own deals.

Either way, I loved everything about this app, the ability to comment to the podcasters, the ability to curate own playlists with a mix of episodes from a variety of cast, the ability to speed up playback, timer and a elegant yet easy to navigate user face. I’ve even found several more fave podcasts that I’d never have come across on casts, sadly though this seems to guzzle my battery. It’s def this app. I installed on my phone and can usually have podcasts playing while I sleep but phones flat by morning with this app.

Initially put it down to oldish phone but sadly have a brand new iPhone 8 and on running this app there’s a big diff in battery drain in comparison to using casts. Old phone fine as can listen and charge at same time, however with no headphone jack it’s problematic, I have wireless headphones but don’t like them for sleeping in and I’m reluctance to buy wireless earphones when I have several pairs of good ones already, sole purpose of purchasing anymore would be so I can plug in to use this app and listen at same time.

Ill keep installed just because I like how the catalogue is presented but I’m still looking for the perfect podcast app.

App really easy to use and all the podcasts I need are here. I’d like more suggestions based on ones I listen too as there are so many to find. I would also like to search by language and country of origin but this is incidental to my enjoyment.

From Podcast to Podbean

Made a move from the Podcasts app to the Podbean app a few months ago. A change in the Podcasts app meant a couple things were no longer available eg the ability to sort a channel’s programs in reverse order in order to get to the early episodes was no longer present. In Podbean it’s easy.

I really want to love this

I’m a binge listener. I love how you can make a playlist and add whatever episode you like from any of your favourites. However, I’m finding that more and more the app will crash midway through a episode and trying to replay it causes buffering for AGES. So much in fact I’ve had to stop the app and restart it, and it does not like it if you try and scroll through to where you left off, it just buffers for ages. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled but same problem persists. I’ve tried numerous other podcast players but I do really love how this is set out, and you can custom set how you want new episodes to download. It has so much going for it, I hope an additional update will fix the bugging issue I have. Will be happy to amend to five stars if this is sorted 😊
