Version 2.1.0
I purchased this app years ago in oder to follow the ‘Bible in a year’ plan read by David Suchet. With the last ‘update’, this feature was removed - without any prior notice. I really miss the daily reading and feel totally cheated.

Version 2.1.0
Why have they changed their (well Everything) When David is talking now the pages don’t move anymore so you have no idea where David is reading from It takes ages to find where he’s reading from I’m very upset and I want the old one back And normally you can see the bibles word highlighted well not on this one it is highlighted but very faintly and if you’re a poor eyesight sufferer you won’t see this highlighted this is terrible app now and altogether to technical for people who are not familiar with how to use a computer Aimee Media please change the app back to what is was before Or your going to loose a lot of people who would normally find this a great comfort in their life and sometimes you’ll find that this is the only comfort that they have in their lives But now it’s unusable for them they are lost
Thanks for listening and correcting the issue with previous issues it’s much appreciated
However if The Developers Could Fix This Problem Then It Would Be Perfect
As the text is read by David Suchet the words do move along with his voice now
Fantastic!!!!
But it Stays on The Same Page So if You Put Your device Down and Then Come Back To Read It Again It’s Still On The Same Page Extremely Extremely Frustrating
I Need This To Work Properly Because I Can’t Always Use My Arms
Please Help

Version 2.0.0
I’m enjoying this app and found it good value, but other people are correct when they say it’s not very intuitive.
Also, when I’m listening to the Bible at night, I like to have the app on a timer. Next morning however, the Bible is ready to pick up at where I started it, rather than however many minutes I set it to finish at. That’s a pain!

Version 2.0.0
More work needs to be done to fix the issues with the latest upgrade which has reduced the functionality rather than improving it. Previously the navigation allowed the user to go directly to any verse in the Bible. Now, despite choosing a specific verse, both the Go button and Play Audio button go to the start of the relevant chapter. Not useful with Psalm 119 for example!!

The app was working fine until a fortnight ago. The “ new” version is utterly useless. It doesn’t download, the layout is terrible and after buying a copy, I don’t know what to do. I am going to give up on this.

Version 1.3.3
I’m new to reading the bible and this app has helped immensely with David Suchet’s first class reading. The app interface itself can be a real pain to navigate. It’s not very intuitive and can be glitchy. It doesn’t always highlight the text as you read along and tends to jump about if you switch from normal mode to Bible in One Year mode. Also annoying is that you can’t change the date to start from when you begin BIOY. You have to start at January 1st which makes it hard to keep on track. I’ve resorted to marking each day on a separate calendar. Great overall but annoying flaws that need fixing.

Doesn’t work properly with iOS 16.1.

Version 1.0.2
David Suchet's reading is fantastic, just enough emphasis and expression to engage and bring the text to life, but avoiding the distracting over dramatisation of some audio versions.
However, it is such a shame that more care wasn't taken over developing the user interface. It is glitchy, and far from intuitive to use.
The feature to highlight text as it is read simply doesn't work. It is jumping all over the place. I don't understand how Apple allow apps on their store that promise features that don't work. In the real world you could take a physical purchase back to the shop for a refund if it didn't work as intended, but I suspect it is not that easy in the virtual world once they have your money.
There is another feature in the audio section that displays 3 starting points for readings. They seem to act like bookmarks, but there is no obvious way to set them. If you touch or hold them them just play from that point.
Swiping the pages from left or right is also glitchy. It's like the interface is fighting with you. It only works if you get right onto one edge of the screen and swipe fully across to the other edge.
Overall, I'm very disappointed that such great content has been packaged in such a poorly thought out way. I hope they take the time and money to start from scratch and completely rethink the UI.

Version 1.0.1
This app, God’s Word and David’s brilliant reading voice brought me out of a dark place. I recently felt a God-prompt to remember and listen to this app that I downloaded in the middle of the pandemic. It is important to hear God’s word as well as read the Bible yourself. Great insight and truths are revealed by the Holy Spirit and discovered this way. How David manages to project his voice to narrate the Bible and also speak God’s words is impressive and such a blessing. Thank you. I give this app 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Mum loves David Suchet’s reading, however she is visually impaired, the ability to see white text on a black background is good but the navigation buttons and navigation text within this App are just too small and at present you cannot change these in settings. Would get five stars if some changes were made

The content is brilliant, but I couldn’t get the hang of the interface.
If you’re used to a basic podcast app, that lets you clearly see where you are up to, lets you set a sleep timer to stop in 30mins etc, then you will probably find this very frustrating. If you just want any way to listen to an excellent reading of the bible, then its great.

It restarts every time you press play. Really annoying for trying to read along with the bible as if you pause it takes ages to find back where you were. The bookmarks are a little annoying but make it easier however I don’t want to have to bookmark every time i have a short pause.

Its nice to have readings and audio together in one app and for it to be easy to navigate.
My bible app of choice is accordance and there i have the niv text phrase tagged so its easy to look at the underlying greek or hebrew and i can play the audio in iTunes at the same time. Or quickly switch to other texts or open up a study bible or commentary or lexicon.
But this app is great to be able to concentrate on the text and audio and not get side tracked in the original language.
It would however be nice to change the font and page scrolling.

Outstanding

I’ve had this app for a few months now and use it daily. The audio is excellent and the NIV translation is well-balanced and accessible.
The text version that accompanies it is clear and easy to follow, with options to make the text bigger, etc.
Navigation could be improved, but the overall quality of this app is so good, it’s still the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever awarded anything.
Just to be clear, it’s the most valuable app I’ve ever used. By a very long way.

Oh dear what deception is this?

Download? I have been blessed with gifts, for help with the technological age. I have fibre optic WIFI, I have iPhone 7Plus with over 227 gb space. I prayed about this app first.
By the way, about time, 2 Peter 3:8 explains a lot. (For those new to Bible reading terminology that means, the second book of Peter in the New Testament of any Bible, chapter 3 verse 8) I was new to Bible terminology once, was patronised about not knowing the terminology and made to feel stupid, but it was a learning curve, for Bible teachers who have patronised adult “newborns” please desist that practise, instead, like Jesus did, kindly do acknowledge that each adult “Newborn” is just as a child learning the alphabet, not stupid, newborn, so kindly teach, patronising is very unbecoming of teachers and very Un-Christ like!
Now, WARNING...this App does not download audio, it streams audio! Fact! It does however, download the written, the journal, the notes and the bookmarks, if you are like me, you would think that audio was included, because you believe you have downloaded the audio too as the App Store says “open” app, all blue, a clear sign on all apps that all content is downloaded. Even in big games and big upgrades. Yes? Not with this app, so you will be sorely disappointed as it is just streaming audio content despite the high, extra cost to purchase an audio download, after misleading advertising and non specific time guidance for downloading audio content! I have downloaded more than one audio book and more than one app with audio content! Did not take long and none, like this one, were streaming audio! For me when one is forewarned about larger downloads, approximate download times, depending on WIFI speed, plugging into charging socket & connecting to WIFI is the thing to do. This app once opened appears to have downloaded all content! Appears being the word. I pressed audio button...up popped a window...sigh... to download audio...sigh...OK...several options. Chapter options or download all option, well I’ve started, all plugged in, connected to fibre optic WIFI, press button to download all. Nothing except buttons turn on, to green, no download progress indicator...because you are not downloading you are streaming this audio content! I have proof of that. 12 hours after pressing buttons, I decided to see if I had downloaded. Yes, it would seem I had. I checked by starting at Genesis, all very nice, reading voice extremely clear, no verse given but each chapter is, however it did not keep a record of where I paused audio, so let’s check and see if it has all content in audio, several book checks right up to Revelations, it would appear so! Now this is where it gets even more suspicious. Every time I press audio the same download audio window pops up. So after 12 hours download buttons on, I checked again to see if I was streaming or had actually downloaded. The voice was there all to Revelations, thinking I had downloaded I tried to close that window, it closed, so again audio button because I stopped that to focus on removing the window for each audio press, not possible actually, up pops window again! I decided to press the download off switch. All audio gone! Written words coming and going now, bookmarks not functioning as they did too. Guess what, streaming. All audio content gone! Not happy at all. The help page is non existent! Safari cannot connect- “ too many reroutes” google cannot connect for same reason, after ignoring link due to “cannot connect - too many reroutes” messages. Typed in search bars instead. Same messages on safari and google. Now I have to be contacting Apple to report this misleading unhelpful developers app! Developers a note to you, who seem unable to differentiate - Streaming & downloading are very different, downloading is permanent, streaming uses up battery time and contract data outside WIFI and is temporary. I have experienced how misleading you are. False advertising! Now to Apple to report and prayer to report back to The Higher Authority I believe wholeheartedly, led me here to expose this! £19:99. To help with your works, Hmmm...and just what works would they be? False light is temporary too! I suggest, if you truly are Christian, that you research how to deliver audio downloads and stop the added expense to customers paying extra for a Downloaded not a Streaming audio Bible! Does David Suchet know about this? Hopefully he will. Reported to Apple...deleted! Do not waste your money, developers-sort it! Deception is of the devil not of God! Excuses not accepted in any form! Apps must be correctly advertised!

David’s reading is fantastic and the text is highlighted as it is read. The bible notes section is very limited and undeveloped compared to the biblegateway app being limited to a single verse and no cross device support.
If you purchase the bible in a year you will be rewarded with a great selection of readings however functions like turning off go to that day are not remembered which is frustrating if you don’t remember where you got to.
But if it wasn’t for these things it would have got 5 stars. I certainly would buy it again as it is is worth every penny!

David really brings the scriptures to life with his warm and seductive voice. It’s genuinely hard to stop listening.
This app is definitely worth the price for the audio alone.
However, the app is annoyingly slow to navigate and it takes a good few seconds for it to catch up with the user. It frequently locks up and occasionally boots you out.
Despite these faults the narration is superb!!

Aimer Media Support I tried to download this App to my iPhone5. My credit card was debited by £19.99 immediately, but I keep receiving the following message:
"Unable to download App - 'NIV Audio Bible: read by David Suchet'
could not be downloaded at this time." - RETRY
I tried to re- download throughout the day getting very frustrated and worried that I had paid nearly £20 for an app that I could not download and use. Other apps were downloading ok.
After searching I found that the app needed 1.5Gb of storage to download. Once more space was freed up the app downloaded fine.
I think that the space requirement ought to be clearer displayed and perhaps the error message ought to suggest checking data storage available.
All of the above aside, I absolutely love this app and I have not stopped using it. It is so well read by David Suchet that I have spent hours listening to the scriptures - 5 stars required!
Thanks to the support team for your quick response.

The app is a good idea, however I think £19.99 is a bit pricey for what it is, considering you can get the audio for free if you use the you version bible app and select the nivuk translation, o think the layout of the app is not very user friendly and the audio is so quiet.

I am moderately/severely deaf and I can hear this rendering as clear as a bell. Very easy to navigate as the table of contents is the most important feature of any app where one doesn't read from beginning to end but selects one's (favourite?) passages. It also provides a reading version so one can read along with the voice. David has the kind of voice that is neither harsh nor soft but just pleasing. I first heard him reading the gospel of John chapter 1 at our church and was so impressed that I rushed home immediately to buy the app. For anyone who loves hearing the Word of God read well, then this is the app for you. There is no distracting background music. Easy to download and ready to roll when installed. There is provision for bookmarks (erroneously reported by another reviewer). There really is no need for instructions to use this app (says he). This version is a lot cheaper than the MP3 version on CD.

Love it

OK - let's take that again! Purchased this app and it does work BUT make sure you have your iPad held landscape fashion. If you turn it to portrait (the usual way for a book), the this app will either crash, if it is already open or, not open.
This really needs to be sorted quickly.
