Basics not working

It’s a great little app but one of the basic things in life is not working…. Copying and pasting a postcode of where you want to stay in the first search screen. Poor oversight on a mobile app tbh. Otherwise it’s ok.

Garbage

I booked a short break through booking.com and received my confirmation from Travelodge but your app insists I haven’t got a booking. Time for deletion from my phone I reckon. No point keeping a useless app!!! My advice, don’t waste your time with this app!!!

Worst Sevice and hospitality

I have booked two family rooms at slough, no air conditioner. It’s very hot in the room. Approached reception staff , got answer that I need to check in the website as Travelodge provides only heater if need fans. That’s the problem of customer to book without reading and all the terms and conditions. It’s advisable to avoid booking rooms at Travelodge especially at slough, london SL1 1PG. Staff are making fun of the customers behind them.

Stay at refurbished Stratford-upon-Avon Travelodge.

Have stayed at this hotel many times as it is near the theatres.
Tasteful decorations give a feeling of warmth with plants, bookcases and a new relocated breakfast bar.
Could do with somewhere to relax as there are no sofas and coffee tables as before the restoration.
The staff were amazing in the face of food shortages (no porridge or tapped fruit juice). One young lady managed to find me a first floor room which was much cooler than the almost airless 3rd floor one. The weather was particularly warm anyway and the hot air rose.

Still waiting for the update that gets this app working. Times must be tough at Travelodge if they can’t afford to get the app sorted.
Despite being referred to the technical department several times, the app is unable to show my upcoming booking. Customer services are unable to correct the problem, and refer it to the technical department each time I query it.

Awful. Quick booking? Really? As stated before, the hotel finder is a joke unless you know the name of the travelodge you want to stay at already. But isn't that what the app is designed to help you with. Needless to say we had a really good stay at a premier inn. Won't be looking back...
Update: had to go to London. The map is still not very user friendly unless you know the area you are going to well enough. Ended up using the website to book as it was easier. Been a week now and the app still won’t show my booking. Even with all the info it needs. How hard can this be to do?
Still a waste of time having the app if it isn’t able to do the simplest things.

Travelodge recently released their new app version which is cool and works perfectly on my iPhone. I enjoyed using Travelodge app which was so easy to use and helped me finding the right hotel at the right place. Price was also very competitive. Thanks

A sub-par iPhone 3 app that has been frozen in time

I avoid travelodge wherever I can just because of this app. Other chains are more expensive, but won’t cause me the stress levels that this not-fit-for-purpose app does.
Issues include:
- App freezes/crashes when payment attempted
- Password required every time you open the app
- Display doesn’t fit on modern iPhones properly
It baffles me why travelodge want to treat their customers with so much contempt. Invest in a proper app! Please! 🙏

This app is not fit for purpose

Unfortunately after wrangling with the Travelodge app for several weeks, I have had to simply give up and delete it. This app is not fit for the intended purpose as it is. For example it did not even show my recent bookings, what is the point of a hotel chain app that fails to do that. My bookings were fine as were the actual Travelodge stays, but I had to go via my emails for the booking references, the app served no practical use.

Auto log out causes issues

App automatically logs you out when closing app. However when opening app it is not clear and will allow you to search and book and receive confirmation. This will then not be visible in the app because you were not logged in and does not offer an option to add or view.
This comment was made 4 years ago by a previous reviewer and you would have thought been addressed by now.

Not Accessible with Screenreaders

For years this ap has been accessible with screenreaders such as voice-over. The most recent update has completely broken it and I can no longer book through the ap. Main issue seems to be with the date selector which is unusable - it was perfect before. Very disappointing backwards step which is, of course, against Equalities legislation. Please fix it.

Rubbish! And very frustrating!

I have several bookings, first one tomorrow. App refuses to recognise me or my bookings. Keeps asking for booking ref number but when I tap on the number it opens a link that asks me for the number again. Can’t copy and paste. Tried to book early check in. No acknowledgment on app or by email. Kept trying. Finally app tried to charge me for 5 early check-ins because I’d taped 5 times! So I phoned the contact number. Chap who answered sounded like he was in an empty bathroom - I could hardly understand what he was saying. He put me through to the hotel. 13pence per minute plus standard rate; definitely NOT HAPPY! Not a good reflection of a well-known company.

Very bad News experience

Very disappointed to use this application, I struggled a lot to create a account and edit configuration. Moreover, I reached to payment option it takes time and poor latency of services.

Agree with everyone else - rubbish app! Every booking fails to show in the bookings section. You literally need to screenshot immediately for proof of booking reference, date, hotel and payment and also save your email confirmation. Do NOT rely on the app. Waste of time.

First Apple Pay option fails on various cards.
Fill in longwinded details which is another option then you can pay with Apple Pay.

Most frustrating app I’ve ever used

Most of the time the app won’t open so end up having to reload it.
When you do manage to open the app it doesn’t do the same thing twice ie. The ability to manage your bookings just disappears also at random times you can’t enter a destination and don’t bother entering discount codes as these very rarely work …
The hotels are fine though 😀…if you actually manage to book them

Utterly useless

Booked a weekend away on the website. Thought, I know, I’ll download the app to make things easier. HA! What an absolute joke.
Obviously, had to sign in when I opened the app, yes I did click the remember me icon. Searched for my booking, need my booking reference number, no problem, I’ll just copy it from my email. I didn’t even close the app down and I needed to sign in again once I’d come back. Tried to paste the reference number into the search box and it kept moving the screen to the bottom of the page.
I knew there was a reason I preferred Premier Inn.
Pretty sure Travelodge won’t be bothered, looks like they haven’t updated the app for 4 years!

In the hotel 🏨

I went to the travalodge for 2 nights and I came back yesterday annoyed 😠 especially about the key card they always need reprogramming !!! I got locked out 2 times in a day this I don’t get to sleep 😴 until 12 because the bed sheet was uncomfortable and the neighbours keeped banging all night but on top of all that the hotel is an amazing And pretty place and the roomed are roomy and they have fans !!!!! This is s good hotel !!!

Useless app

I log in, it doesn’t show all my bookings, even with my reference number and then for no apparent reason logs me out. It also bombs out if I try to pay using PayPal. Oh and if I’ve quickly viewed a hotel as a guest and see the cost and then go to log in and view the same hotel to book it, the price has gone up, why is that? Tried just going to the website from my phone logging in and using PayPal to pay for the room, worked fine, so by by app, saved the webpage as an app link on my phone

Without doubt the worst app ever

Given that the vast majority on users will want to use an app that seamlessly works with a mobile device to manage their booking while on the road, this is a stinker. Password management does not work, screens requesting the hotel postcode to manage the booking send you in circles just for starters. When you do finally log in, none of your bookings are visible: search as though a new user required. Finally, and this is just a common sense feature, when you eventually get to your booking, would it not be nice to allow you to add it to your calendar? I just hope that the hotel is not as poor as the app. Major refresh is required or your customers will sleep elsewhere.

It won’t let me give less than 1!

I couldn’t believe such a reputable hotel company could make the awful app that was being described in the reviews, but I was proven wrong: this is truly terrible. The windows don’t render correctly to see all the options available, no auto fill or option to remember details, it doesn’t let you see/add your bookings and even goes so far as to advertise the getting the app from within the app.
I would be embarrassed to have made and distributed this app.
It makes me wonder about the level of attention they pay to other aspects of their business.

Unreliable app

Does this app ever work? If I’m lucky enough to get past the TL picture to pick a hotel more often then not the search box says
‘No location’ and won’t let me search, on the odd occasion that there are hotels listed it won’t let me search for ‘aldgate’ for example without typing ‘London Central Aldgate’ now im from Up North and had no idea that Aldgate is classed as central and it didn’t come up in my search! My password never saves and I have to change it every time I try book(and yes I do know what my password is)
Literally any other travel app is better than this, this is hands down the worst one I have used and I have used more than my fair share.
Take some lessons from Premier Inn, and invest some money in your app, in am thoroughly bored of it now and will be sticking with Premier Inn

Disappointing

This app logs me out every time it closes. No facility to add my booking to my wallet. Other hotel apps manage this! It would be nice if the developers can look at some other apps and see what works and try to implement what they find here. If I have an app I don’t want to be logging in to the companies web page to see my booking details. I want it in the app!
Still no change to the app. Still being logged out while in the app. Why have you not made use of the ability to log in with a fingerprint? Please get rid of your developers and find some that know how to write a decent app that works!
Please please please get someone who knows how to write a modern app for a portable device to produce a new app for Travelodge. There are so many better apps out there’s to draw inspiration from.

The App that plumbs the depths of purgatory

How come most apps requiring security can either remember details or use Touch ID, yet this App requires you to remember your email and password every time you use it!
Then don’t get me started on the lack of functionality. The website is bad enough, but this app takes usability to new depths. Bookings appear written vertically one character at a time, so they are illegible! I can imagine a room in hell where poor tortured souls are forced to try and book hotels using this app. When after eternity they finally manage it, they are finally released!

Wow. This is shocking.

This is genuinely worse than not having an app. Presentation is dreadful, a mishmash of different styles and designs, all terribly dated, which combine to create a total mess. It’s like a website from 2001 at best. I simply tried to add a booking I’d made as a guest user online, and though it can be accessed (after some searching, I did find a “manage my bookings” option) there’s no way of saving it to my new account. Pointless. I’m actually going to print out my confirmation email and use that when I check in, and I’ll delete this app. The company has clearly given up on this app a long time ago, not quite sure why it’s still available to download. Awful stuff.

Just awful

I never leave reviews but I have been using (trying to) this app for over 18 months and it is by far the most in-user friendly app I have ever had to use. For a company so big who’s main customer base would look to use the app to make bookings I would have thought they might have invested some money in it. It seems they rather leave you struggling so much you are then forced to use the premium phone number help line to make or amend bookings. Disappointed when it could and should be so much better. Please listed Travelodge and do something about this!! 🙏🏻

Inherently bad app design

Searching for a Travelodge in a specific area (e.g. Brighton) brings up a seemingly random list, in no particular order. In fact if you search London, your top hit is in Spain!
The filtering and ordering don’t really do much.
If you can find your required hotel, you enter your details of your stay, then hit the search button, which redirects you to the website. It doesn’t remember anything about what you’ve entered. And even has the cheek to tell you to download the app!
Bottom line; fix the app experience.

Appalling

This really is absolutely appalling. A search for ‘Putney’ brings up only one hotel in London. The search results beat no relation to your search term. I would have thought a map would be useful to scroll to a location and see hotels in the vicinity but alas no the designers have decided that this is not the case. This would not necessarily be an issue if the search worked but as per my comments above this is not the case. I haven’t used other parts of the app such as booking as i cannot find a suitable hotel using the app.
An hotel app that doesn’t allow you to find the hotel you want appears to be the app equivalent of a chocolate fire guard.

Broken by the last update

This app used to work well, but since the last update it has become useless. It now directs you to the regular web page to make a payment, and the web page does not display correctly on mobile devices. The fields overlap and some are off screen, with no way of accessing them.
Updated again 10th November 2016. Issues still not fixed.
Oh dear. Now (October 2017) the hotel search function does not work. Enter a destination (even London) and it will say ‘No results found’. Right now the version history says it was updated 11 minutes ago with the ‘newest features and bug fixes’. Whatever they did seems to have destroyed what little functionality it had.

The one time I need it it fails! THREE TIMES!

I honestly nearly walked over the road and paid an extra £23 for a Premier Inn room because of this app! Walked upto reception wanting a room for the night, told had to book online so used the app and its total garbage! Tried three times and told the receptionist I'm off...I can't be bothered I'd rather pay the extra and get served properly...LIKE NORMAL HOTELS! It was only when he stepped in and booked it for me I stayed. The one time I needed it in desperation...it totally failed three times for 1 room.
Either you update this app from when apps were first invented or let people pay at reception like every other hotel!

So so so bad

This app looks like it has been designed by committee and then implemented on the cheap. It's truly awful. Half the entire main screen is taken up by an unclickable banner. The hotel list search doesn't work - it constantly lists something in Spain?!! The app asks for permission to use my location even when I'm not using the app - not gonna happen. The date picker is hopeless - there are no day names so you need to use an external calendar to figure out which day of the week you need. Didn't even get as far as the booking process because the app is just so annoying to use. Deleted less than 5 mins after installing it. Try again Travelodge.

Broken

Try to register to use the app and it does not accept the registration even though all required fields are completed correctly.
Terrible app. Badly written as you're not given an indication as to why the registration is not submitted successfully. Instead the page just refreshes and leaves you guessing what could be wrong or missing and from what I can see, nothing is wrong or missing!!!
Surprises me companies like this spend millions in advertising and promoting themselves, but don't concentrate on the front line as apps like this are often the very first contact a customer will have with that company before setting foot in the doorway. If the experience is flakey then that's going to be noticed.
Also noticed when you click on the support link on the App Store you're taken to their website's front page. Blimey, that's really really lazy! They can't even be bothered to send you to a Support or Contact page on their website.
Come on Travelodge, get your house in some kind of order. Sort out this app.

Poorly designed app

So, searched for and booked a hotel this evening. While choosing options, selected SMS (text) confirmation - but this immediately took me back to the top of the page and I had to scroll all the way down again to enter my mobile number - simply incompetent programming. Payment by card worked and I was then presented with a comprehensive set of booking details, including address and postcode of the hotel - but there was no way to PRINT the details for future reference !!
What I find astonishing is that senior managers must sign off these apps without testing them personally. Anyone who used this app would find the limitations and programming errors straight away. So, incompetent programmers and incompetent managers. Hope the hotel itself is better run !!!

Needs work. Quite a lot

This should be fairly simple to use but isn't. The search facility is fairly intuitive but, while it will search on your current location, it won't let you browse a map of all hotels so you can choose where you want to go - rather than search specific locations. The booking process is hampered by a very out of date address search (not updated in last 2 years) that auto enters data into the wrong fields. This means when you hit 'submit' you get an error message and have to manually re-enter the same data and re-enter payment details. Quite frustrating. It is also very slow.
Ultimately the app is useful and I will continue using it. This review is intended as feedback for the developers.

INACCURATE INFORMATION

This app constantly gives inaccurate information about availability of rooms at locations.. If users relies on this to make bookings they wont get much business as have tried many times to search for rooms for a certain period at different locations only to find no availability, however going to the internet to find the same rooms doing the same search you will find loads of rooms and availability!!! Whats the point of this app though it is easy enough to use!!

Superb, no issues, plus limited 10% app discount

First time using the app after receiving promotional 10% app discount email, hotel found, booked and paid for within ten minutes of hassle free shopping. All the information you would get from the website was there, no brainer and now saved for future use.

Really..who authorised this!!!

Like others have said its just the mobile version of the website wrapped up into the app. No ability to sign in with my business details and no option to pay using Travelodge charge card!! I wonder what was discussed at the planning meeting! I would have thought that an app was required for ease of use for something that is used on a regular basis. The regular guest might use TL a couple of times a year so probably wouldn't need the app. I stay all over the UK and book an average of 3 rooms per week. Would you like some help with the planning meeting for version 2 as I'm sure it won't be far away!!
