In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.
The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. Alluringly addictive

Automatically, you are sunk into the personification of the characters: you care for them, you feel sympathy for them, you try your hardest to ensure they’re fed and safe.
The game wrenches you inside out. You feel extreme guilt towards stealing supplies from those who direly need it— even more than you, for the exchange of surviving another day, or feeding the little girl who glues with your group.
Not for the lighthearted, but fantastic game. Opens your eyes to reality of humanity.

As the title says. For a mobile game I expect the option to save anywhere for quick pick up and play sessions.
Nope not here you have to play a full day for it to auto save, I played for a few mins came back and bam back to the start of the day. Unless you go through the full day cycle you lose your progress when coming back to it.
Played one day in game and deleted as that’s not great for a mobile game.
If a save anywhere feature gets added in an update I’d probably play it again as it looks nice.

Choices have a psychological effect on your characters and none are immune from ethical choices and drives that are often completely absent in other games. This makes it very realistic and gives a strong insight into the vulnerability of human beings who are ultimately social creatures because choices will have a direct impact on the mood and behaviours of your party. While scavenging I like to make loot piles with different things (one for materials and one for goodies) so I don’t have to run around on the next visit. It happened several times when one of my loot piles disappeared. Quite massive piles too and I’m sure I didn’t clear them myself. Please fix the bugs because the game itself is amazing! 4 star from me tho because of bugs and crashes.

A truly one of a kind experience. It’s a difficult game to play both in its game play challenges but also the difficult choices you must make. I truly enjoyed playing this, as much as you can enjoy playing a game about surviving war. So much thought and detail went into developing this. It took me several times to finally reach the end. Overall it’s an amazing survival game with a simple pattern of crafting/managing during the day and exploring locations during the night. Very intuitive to play. However I bought the Stories thinking was going to be a patch/expansion but it is a different game. I would love if the other This War of Mine games would be expansions of the original one rather than different games but with the same mechanics. Also a little criticism related to the characters, they are constantly suffering (understandable as it is about surviving) but would be cool if they would be more self sufficient when they are at home so you can focus on crafting rather than spending all day on talking to remove depression. They should adapt to the players’ ethics so should not be depressing to kill other people if the player is happy with it. My rate 4/5.

I have updated my rate to 5 stars, I survived my first war on my my first go, 45 days war. I have a big query for developers;
45 days of war has been pretty easy to survive despite from day 40 the game starts to get harder as bandits break in home every night. Please add more difficulty and a role system to make it easier after completing each war so we can keep playing in order to upgrade the characters and skills. This role system could be based on skills level that upgrades as characters do stuff or going for resources. Also as I have mentioned on my first review, add more self sufficiency to the characters at home so they can talk to each other to surpass depression or they can switch the heater on themselves if they feel they are gonna die because the cold (if combustible stuff is available). Also please add more expansions to the original game so we do not need to have the game and the Stories separated. However I have rated you 5/5 as I enjoyed every single second playing this survival maester piece.

I don’t often play mobile games, and I very rarely buy them, but this is a game that seemed too good to miss...And it truly is.
I haven’t played this on any other platform, but as far as I’m concerned this works very well for IOS. Usually mobile games are fiddly and clunky, making you wish you could play it on console or PC. It’s as simple as point and click. It CAN be occasionally frustrating when you’re in a hurry, I.E at a tense moment where you’re having to hide or escape from someone/something. Other than that...I can’t complain.
As for the story/world itself...wow...very immersive and very powerful. You quickly become attached to your characters early on with nice details about their background and what they can do. This really adds to the pressure of decision making and using their traits to your full advantage. The game does not hold your hand, you’re literally thrown into the environment and your best bet is to just trail and error your way through it at first. This doesn’t make the game in away way less enjoyable, in-fact, quite the opposite. It gives the game some seriously addictive features.
Trying hard not to give anything away, but it’s best to go into this blindly as I did. Seriously nice game!!!! Would recommend to anyone.

This would easily be a 5 star rating as I think it is one of the best games I played in 2016 but the controls are not translating to iPhone 11. Instead of pressing on the character or action you have to press the screen about an inch adjacent in order for the game to recognise your decisions. This is very disappointing and I have just had to delete the game off because it’s unplayable like this. Also I bough TWOM: The Little Ones years ago and am still yet to play it. It shows as purchased on the menu screen but when I select it it just takes me a screen to purchase it again. How do you play it? Do you have to complete the standard edition again or something to unlock it? This really doesn’t seem right if you have already paid fo the add on. Please fix as I would very much like to play this game again, try the purchased add on and readjust the rating. Many thanks

This game excellent but... yes there’s a but... since i purchased the littlest ones expansion it randomly crashes, I didn’t have the problem before so i’m naturally blaming that (it might not be that). The issue is that I spend a whole day doing tasks, resting, making stuff and so on and then at night it crashes. The problem is you can’t save it, it auto saves in the morning so you end up having to do the whole day over again; and guess what. Yep, it crashes again. This is really tedious and frustrating. especially when you have to do the whole day over. They should change the name of the app to “this ground hog day of mine”. i’m getting really fed up with it, i’m quite far into this game and don’t want to lose it (you can only have one game going at a time). Thing is, even if I start over it might do the exact same thing. Maybe one of the 80+ awards is one for most annoying crashing? I’ll award it that one, it definitely deserves it.
Devs, please sort this out, it’s ruining what would otherwise be a really superb game.

This is an awesome game. I’ve played it on console for a while and this version is just as addictive and fluid. However almost half of the night scavenging locations seem to crash before or just after loading, and I’m booted from the app! Locations off the top of my head are the church, sniper junction/central square, military outpost and the hospital. Once these are fixed easily a 5 star game!

iPHONE X OPTIMISATION ISSUE
On the whole, this is a gloriously gritty and immersive game that I’d recommend in heartbeat to fans of the genre..
HOWEVER, when playing on iPhone X the 'home bar' at the bottom of the screen is perpetually active and never fades into a grey non-active mode as it should. This is not only very distracting in terms of player immersion, but it also means it is frustratingly easy to inadvertently close the game.
This simply requires a very small optimisation fix, which greys out the home bar, remedying the issue entirely. It’s a subtle change for sure, but makes a big improvement in terms of user experience.
For reference purposes, please take a look at games such as Inside and Alto’s Odyssey to see precisely what I mean.

This game is very well made. The graphics and art design are great and it gives a great sense of fulfilment when you complete a story. It also offers hours of gameplay as it has many different stories with different characters. It is quite challenging.
However, it does have some very dark themes in it. Also, I would like to point out that this is a survival game with not a lot of story. Also it has no tutorial which is slightly annoying.
Overall I think that this is one of the good games on the App Store and I would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this game, every action has a bearing on how your survivors are feeling and how difficult it will become to get through the war, so many different styles of play in what seems very straight forward game play at the start. My only gripe is I really felt like I had just got into it at just over 40 days when the war ended. That was my 2nd game, the first one everyone died which I admit was much more fun than a tutorial! There has to be an option for extended game play or options at the start for approximate war length, there was so much more I could have done, built and explored.

I've only just purchased this game and already I've noticed an extremely disappointing flaw in that it makes no attempt to explain game controls/mechanics, literally leaving you to fend for yourself from day 1. While I'm unsure as to whether this was deliberate as some form of artsy metaphor for how the characters in the game must fend for themselves in order to live, I find that it makes the game seem a lot more daunting considering the emphasis of the importance of choices and time management. Although this does not make the game unplayable, it has left me with a pretty negative first impression. As I have only just started playing I am also unable to give a rating that would accurately reflect my opinion of the complete game, and so I shall leave it with 3 stars for the time being.

Exclamatory, emotional and life-seeking. A wonderful game that doesn't matter how expensive it is. I once found old people's house, and I knew that they had everything I need for my team. But then I walked away, they were just some pictures on my phone screen but I could not rob or steal poor old people. The game is simple, you only need to aim to survive. But it is not this simple, every decision makes different game situations, and probably will affect you in the future. This is a teaching of the war, a experience of what life and desire is about in there. This is not a fiction, same thing is happening in Middle East. Why don't you try it now?

This war of mine is not a, as you'd say, fun game, but the idea and concept behind it is amazing. the lack of tutorial is not so much a bad thing as it allows player to learn at their own pace while working out strategies. The only limiting factor is the 40 day limit. The implementation of a survival mode where you see how long you can survive would be great, however the amount of required work is understandably quite large with random scenarios and regeneration of supplies being a sort of necessity. Other than that, in terms of bugs or glitches I have experienced none and I would like a follow up of this game.
