Description

Désiré is a poetic point-and-click adventure game in black and white.
When the schoolteacher asks Désiré why he didn't draw the sun like the other pupils, he replies spontaneously: « It's always night in my head. »
Désiré is colour-blind from birth and he will lead you into in world of black and white. He marches on hesitantly, as life never brought him much joy. From a tender age, he is going to meet several characters who will elicit in Désiré intense emotions and alter his vision in surprising ways. Is colour at the end of the road?
The game is, at its core, a critique of the modern world and of the perverting nature of a consumer, profit-obsessed society.
The game contains 4 chapters, 50+ scenes, 40+ characters and a lot of riddles.

I just don't know... not suitable for kids!!!

It's a good game, but it's very easy in terms of game play and puzzles. Conversations are way too long and trying to be something they are not. The whole game didn't really go anywhere and some levels were just done for shock value I think.. maybe it's just me I found some of it a bit unnecessary. Also, a couple of mentions of things that were very below the belt I think.. too much swearing and ignoring very serious crimes going on in the story.
You can't say it's a bad game but I'm not recommending it as there were no points where it wasn't obvious what to do. It was only the long drawn out conversations and long walks to each bit that made it as long as it was.

Good but can be confusing

I like this game a lot. Because you don't need internet connection, it's good for playing in the car or on holiday. The character, Désiré, is likeable and you're rooting for him which makes the game easier. I didn't have a problem with saving because I saw the save game button on settings but I can see why people might be confused and annoyed about the no auto-save option.
Problems:
If you get stuck, you have to work it out yourself. Some people might argue this is a good thing but if you really don't know what you should do next or how to get what you need, you're stuck for ages until you have a eureka moment. It would be really useful to have some hints, if a walkthrough is too much.
To the reviewer who asked about the photocopy card: get the mouse from the laboratory and put it on the librarians desk.
Unless you're talking about Father Fouco, in which case, somebody help because I'm stuck on that part too. Thanks!

Poncey and monotonous game

There is a lack of humour. It has the same desperate tone of dismal despair throughout. All the characters are argumentative and impose their philosophies on the player- and they go on and on and on for paragraphs. There are no endearing or witty characters or interesting plots. It is disjointed like the dialogue which only occasionally has relevance to the gameplay. One is forced to endure the dialogue in order to be able to make the next move in a puzzle, which is like forcing the buyer to read and endure the viewpoints of the creators of the game.
The game wants to be deep and thought provocative but it is not. It is in many areas disgusting and disturbing for people well into their 30's so the age-group warning doesn't prepare you for that.
On the whole it isn't fun to play, it isn't artistic like it pretends to be and not clever .

Terrible,awful game..

Masses of dull and questionable dialog about a range of unsavoury subjects in the first few minutes alone. I would ask for a refund from the App Store but I'm even embarrassed to admit that I paid for this crap.
Oh, and it crashes like its the fashionable thing to do, all the time..

Frustrating

When I watched the preview for this game, I fell in love. It looked so quaint and interesting.
I have been left feeling beyond frustrated... As previously mentioned there is no auto save which does not match up with bugs that kick you off the game completely, leaving you will missed gameplay.
No clues or hints, also mentioned previously which leaves you going in circles until you can work out answers for every option you have at that time.
The fact I have had to pay for this game is beyond me.. With Apple, you see a price, you expect a reasonable (doesn't not have to be brilliant) and functional game.
A full refund is definitely required with this one .. You wouldn't buy a game in a shop, use it for the first time and it not work then expect not to get a refund.. So why shouldn't I here?
Disappointed. A wonderful idea but not meeting the mark. I do not recommend anyone purchasing this game.

Crashes

Enjoying the game to some extent. The story line is disjointed and there seems to be no clear goal or objective but once you get the gist of what is happening it is pretty easy to make the steps up as you go.
No auto save which is frustrating and no hints available or even online walkthroughs so getting stuck means you could take forever figuring it out if you haven't already given up.
Biggest problem is that I can't get passed the underground on the second chapter? Crashes every time I'm about to get onto the train. Serious bug and crash fixes needed.

Waste of money

As all of the other reviews state, no auto save and game crashes at the underground station. Don't waste your time. Rubbish.

Awful

Rarely write a review for anything but to charge for a game that doesn't auto save is horrendous.
Played nearly 30-45 mins just to start again.
More so this usually the type of game I love but the dialogue is tedious. You go through 10 mins worth just to then do a puzzle in 30 seconds.
For the first time ever I may ask for a refund.
Avoid.

Thought provoking, but heavy handed and unsatisfying.

The two main faults with this game are its minimalistic interactions and an irksome narrative style:
An early scene referencing a ballerina advises us a solitary clue, to revisit something again and again in the hope we might see something different, and no doubt this is the only way to progress through the game, trying every object with every possible interaction in the hope something is eventually achieved. It's incredibly frustrating, repeating the same thing again and again, expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Secondly the dialogue is unnatural, at least in the English version, the vernacular of this 12 year old boy seems to have been written with a thesaurus, or perhaps the translation is a little too on the nose, using multiple references by different characters to uncommon phrases like 'kitchen-sink philosophy'.
The author tries and tries to come across as deep and insightful, however the style lacks subtlety, and it ultimately feels like having an agenda pushed on you, the protagonist turns to face the player whenever he some 'wisdom' he needs to share, it's contrived to say the least. Perhaps this is a French cultural point that doesn't translate, but characters the protagonist has just met are ready to deliver ad hoc philosophical maxims at a moment's notice, and are willing to discuss his inner turmoil at length, which distances the work further from any grounding in the real world.
That isn't to say I didn't enjoy the game, there are moments when you can empathise with the character, and it raises many interesting sociopolitical topics for debate, however it needed to be done with a lighter touch and less of an established political bias (even if you agree with it). Ultimately the feeling I'm left with is one of dissatisfaction, but I don't regret playing it.

Don't waste your money

Bizarre game. Looks like it should be very cute but the lack of autosave is incredibly frustrating, especially as it keeps crashing. Am now stuck at the underground and the game continually crashes so I cannot play any further. Storyline is just weird, especially at the beginning when the character starts talking about a spell and there has been no lead in to this, so you have no idea what he's talking about. Really wouldn't bother.

Take it from a person who hates writing negative reviews...

My game crashed and now i can't access my save, no hints, no showing what you can interact with which makes a lot harder, not really a very good game I saw a negative review before I bought it but I never thought it would be this bad, asking for a refund not worth anything at all.

Unstable

Seems like a promising idea BUT doesn't auto-save and has a tendency to crash completely which erases any saved game info thus leaving you having to replay which is tedious. In its present form - a waste of money. How about a refund?

Don't waste your money

Firstly, this game has never heard of auto save. Played it for 20 mins, closed app then next time I opened it I had to start again. On further inspection, you have to go to settings and "save" game. Unreal. They've never heard of the cloud. Also, to point out how little thought has been put into this game, it doesn't even auto rotate to the way you have iPad. You literally have to turn your iPad "the other way round" just to orientate it correctly. Oh, and lastly, there are no hints so if you get stuck, just delete app as there's no help at hand. Complete waste of money and I will be requesting a refund from Apple. Take my advise, avoid this app.
