Why show reviews from 3 years ago?

Hey apple, Spark is awesome it’s a 5 star app so why show reviews from 3years ago?
I’m sure I’ve written be more recently than that talking about the awesome templates, shared settings, custom interactions clean layouts and clever multi account handling!
This did actually make me love email again.
Well done team Spark.

Please give an option to disable thread view

App is a waste of time if you don’t want all your emails threaded in conversation view. I can’t find or miss emails as they’re lost at the bottom of the thread. Which muppet thought up the idea of placing years old emails at the top?

Not what it once was…!

I loved Spark - from an interface and functionality perspective, I still do. However, it seems to be less and less stable - especially if you use multiple devices.
I run a MacBook, a couple of iPads and a phone - these days, Spark is never in sync - I’ll pick up the iPad to find that the inbox is full of old email that I’ve already processed - more often than not, the email count on every device is different. If I check in Outlook (as an example) because it is looking at the source mailbox on the Exchange server - I’ll find that all my changes have been made BUT usually only the phone is up to date because that’s the device I use most. The Spark clients on other devices are all out of sync.
I find it irritating that Spark doesn’t look at the source mail servers to get your mail - I suspect that Readdle pull ALL your email onto their own servers and process it on there - how else can a SPARK mailbox show an email that was permanently deleted from the source mailbox!?
If it all worked flawlessly, I could probably ignore my concerns over what Readdle is actually doing with my email - what is being scanned and read etc(!?)…for the most part there is nothing in my email that is that sensitive.
I’m sure that back in the dim past there was a button to refresh the Spark data/cache on a device and this would often clear the issue and I’d get them back in sync but it’s either been removed or moved - I can’t find it now.
I’m probably going to go back to the native iOS client and Outlook and resume the search for a smarter mail app that isn’t doing weird things with my mail and getting confused across devices.

New update has ruined the app

I had to login to my email again as if it was a new account. All my settings have been lost and I now get notifications for so many email that I didn’t before. The latest update that supposedly fixes it hasn’t done anything.

Overall great

Absolutely great app. Easy to convert over to from the iOS mail app. One of my favourite features is the widget that shows when my clients email.
Only issue that has bothered me is sometimes it says it wasn’t able to send an email. Frustrating if it happens to be a scheduled email, but at least it alerts it wasn’t sent. Still would recommend though.

I loved spark and have been using for a long time but it’s letting me down.
Sometimes important messages end up in junk mail when I was online Banking for guidance I was asked to check my email and junk mail nothing in junk so had to log on web and I found the email in junk. Reinstalled spark and still the same issue. I am using gmail instead.

Last update has trashed the app: this *was* such a good mail manager, particularly the Send Later function but it now does not work at all despite several reboots. Please do not tell me you’ve fixed it - you haven’t. It simply doesn’t work on my iPhone 11 anymore and I’m on the Outlook app instead

Why did I never try this before

As an Apple fan I’ve never used anything but the Apple mail app for all my devices but getting a Samsung phone I needed to look for a decent email app, that’s when I found spark and after realising things could be done differently switched all my apple devices over as well.
This distresses me loads by splitting the email screen down.
Try it, you will like it.

Good but

It’s a good app, I’ve been using it for ages but the recent update has thoroughly messed things up
So I won’t be updating my iPad otherwise I’ll loose years worth emails from an account I can’t access , ( which just happened on my iPhone)
And the quick update release hasn’t fixed the other issues either
I appreciate they need to add new features but I won’t be using the ‘smart inbox’
Off to find a simple Email app. ..

Really good

I NEVER write reviews, but I’m so impressed after moving my team of 6 off apple mail for my business. Chatting in threads, sharing drafts, the search works, the pins are great on smart mailbox, great colour codes for many accounts. Nice fonts and easy signatures. Hopefully never have to rebuild one of my multiple mailboxes again for going blank! Phone usability is as good as desktop, conversations stay in bubbles so you don’t have to skim through meter long threads looking for attachments at the bottom. Bye bye apple mail!
Couple of things to improve
1. allow user to flip new messages to the top. Rather than bottom. But it doesn’t really matter as chats stay compressed. Unless you expand history.
2. Allow images in the text body for creative industries rather than as attachments!
But basically I LOVE!

Very good at email, but…

… a few niggles are putting me off:
1. Spark denies the existence of the standard calendar app in iOS and macOS: the attitude is “use the internal Spark one or you’re on your own”.
2. In recent releases, the unified inbox for use with multiple email accounts is no longer unified: unread email counts don’t update and the inbox doesn’t refresh properly.
3. You can’t do online images: attachments only.
4. I encountered a niche bug in the latest releases which crashed the app on both iOS and macOS. Despite providing a video, logs, a specimen file, and detailed steps to reproduce the issue, I ended up working around it myself.
On the plus side, the support team at Readdle are very friendly and responsive, the app has some great features, and it’s free!

AMAZING App has revolutionised our email and our business

This app has completely revolutionised our business the use of templates has meant we can deal with 80% of our emails with just two clicks. This application not only speeds up how you send emails but also filters out most of the stuff that slows you down from Spam to newsletters. This is without a doubt the best email application I have ever come across. Only run a small two man business but I have to tell you I don’t think we could do it anymore without this app it is just brilliant started using it as a test and within a week and ditch all other email programs and I’ve tried pretty much all of them. Highly recommended !!!! Amazing

Incredibly frustrating. Most other functions in this app are great but, not being able to turn off themed inbox is incredibly annoying. An option for a simple inbox would be such a simple option to add! Seems I am not the only one! Switched to Blue Mail. So much better! Glad I was forced to switch.

Developers won't listen to feedback

I was using Spark for a while but had to ditch it because of the awful Threading of emails that cannot be turned off.
I and many others have requested an option to turn threading off, but the Devs steadfastly refuse to allow that or even consider it.
When I notice that there are updates to the app, I look to see if they've implemented an option to disable threading but nope, you're still stuck with it.
So, I'm back on Apple Mail while Spark is still so unusable and annoying and may return to it in the future if they decide to listen to feedback from users.

Solid email package with innovative features

The first thing i liked about spark was that I was able to connect it to all three of my email accounts with no trouble and little effort. Basically all the workings seem solid and efficient. There is a lot of thought in the interface and even if you don't use it all you will probably find some new features that you wish you’d had years ago.

Excellent, but…

I love Spark, but it is left down by the poorly implemented widgets. I have left numerous reviews and sent messages to developers but no one takes notice of the feedback. Today Edison Mail announced 14 new beautiful iOS widgets. One to target every kind of user. I am this close to switching to them. Seems Spark doesn’t appreciate user feedback.

Great for managing mail

I’ve used quite a few different mail apps but Spark is the best one overall. Been using this app for about 2yrs now and the only thing that will give it 5 stars is the ability to manage the size of the mailbox - the mailbox can get huge and the only way to reduce the size is to uninstall the app and install it again

Great app, but conversations are the worst!

I love the Spark app. So many powerful and useful features. The best one is smart notifications, Spark only notifies you about important emails, somehow it know which ones are non urgent, if by any chance one slips through, you can teach the app for next time! I have 3 stars because Spark groups all email threads into conversations. This must be good for people who like that but I don’t. I find it confusing and messy. A lot of the time when I tap a new email in the conversation, I am presented with one of the old messages and I have to search through the thread to find the latest, this has led to many mistaken replies. For some reason, if I reply to only one person in a thread, the reply comes back with everyone’s name in the title from the original group, this sends me into panics that I may have sent the email to everyone. I really think Spark should give the option to turn of ‘group email threads into conversations.

Over hyped

I fell for the marketing hype about how Spark was the answer to over burdening email. It is good, easy to set up, collects email from all my accounts but has some really annoying traits. It's just another email client. The so called smart inbox just bubbles all the emails I imported into gmail back in 2007 which I really don't want to see. Not easy to see which account messages have come in via. Still get all my iCloud messages two or three times. Still on the search for a decent email client.
To follow up the above now a few years later, I’m still using Spark but as with other comments it’s really difficult to find emails and really easy to miss mails within a thread.
Why has NO one cracked email yet? I’ve been using it pretty much since email started and as the quantity increases it becomes more like herding cats.

Brilliant but could have 1 improvement.

I love spark, it has a very clean interface and extremely friendly! I love the smart inbox and dark mode. However it could have one improvement, and that is notifications, as other email apps like Gmail and Apple Mail show notifications on the home screen. Why does spark not have that, or does it have it but I just didn’t see it? If you could add that then this will definitely be the best email app ever!
Thank you! (I’m excited for the windows version!🥳)

Not awful, but inflexible in key areas

Spark is easy to set up, it looks good and there’s a fair amount of customisation to make it mostly work as you want. However I don’t like the fact that you have to have emails grouped by conversation - a feature that most other browsers allow you to disable. Also, it seems counterintuitive that the most recent emails are displayed at the bottom of the thread, so if I want to read the latest updates I have to scroll through everything to get to them. Again, this is not configurable.
These two issues make Spark a poor choice for me, so it will be uninstalled.

Incredible with IOS14

I felt compelled to write a review as it would seem only Spark is focused on delivering a superb email experience!
Having been forced to use outlook for so long now as no other app seemed to compare, Spark has just soared miles ahead of everyone else! There recent update includes much needed support for 365 so I can finally sync my three personal and two 365 business accounts but the best has best even apple to IOS14!!
The widgets are superb! I love my new email and calendar one right there on the home screen, no more opening and app and searching for emails or calendar.
Well done Spark happy to return and bin outlook!

Simply the best

This is it, your ultimate inbox.
I have multiple accounts because I have dedicated use for each of them. Before Spark a synchronised inbox between the accounts never quite worked - I always had to sift through for a missing email in the spam box, find that I have to login multiple times for an account less compatible with bigger platforms like outlook or gmail, and between devices the apps were never up-to-date and found myself deleting and reading the same emails again and again. The interface is great, nothing to add, nothing to take out. The experience is pure joy.

Spam

In a love hate relationship with this app. On and off I’ve always found myself coming back to spark, from customisation and ease of use it’s fantastic. But, recently I’ve had a huge influx of spam. Previously I’ve been told that I need to manage this from outlook itself. I kind of understood but then I didn’t. Why would I use another app for my emails if I have to use another app to stop something else? I assume it’s some restriction in place by the email company. But, it seemed odd to have email clients and apps to then need the original email provider to adjust and change things. I’ll update this if I can change anything about or find something new

Firstly, there’s no way to configure that after deleting an email, it shows the “next” email. However the next email is just the one below, more accurately, the older email and not the next new email. I always have to swipe to the newer email after deleting one and it is just not intuitive to see which direction you’re reading mails from, either new to old or old to new. This is something that Apple’s Mail app already does.
The second issue I have noticed is that as an Apple Watch user, the email content is never shown. It always says to view in the iPhone email client. Apple’s Mail app for Apple Watch displays the whole message.
These are the only two issues I have found that really stop me from using it as my default Mail client.
However saying that, Spark is a brilliant Email Client, if you don’t mind the above two issues I am facing. You won’t be disappointed.

Really want to like it but...

I’ve been using Inbox / Gmail for years for the ability to snooze emails but have been reading great things about Spark so decided to give it a go. Had a quick run through and loved it - seemed to do everything I wanted - so I committed and set up all my email accounts.
Using it for a few days now though, issues are becoming apparent. So far, my iCloud calendar won’t appear despite various attempts. No issues with Gmail calendars but my main calendar is iCloud and I’m not willing to migrate just for this. Also I’ve snoozed emails until ‘tomorrow’ and later found them actually snoozed to ‘someday’. I’ve not been able to reproduce this consistently or figure out what conditions make it happen so far. ‘Someday’ isn’t in my list of ‘snoozes’ so I’m reasonably confident that it is not fat fingers / user error.
I really want to like Spark and what works works great but so far there’s a few issues that may end up being deal-breakers. Time will tell.
Update: gave up after just over a week. Back to the Gmail app.

Email how it’s meant to be!

Firstly, the new RED delete icon feature and positioning is a game changer... Amazing. Love that. Love everything about the app apart from the following:
The app icon is dull and boring. Maybe add a ‘change icon’ feature that allows total customisations. I would prefer a black instead of the blue. Have the plane but maybe add SPARK in miniature letters below the plane or create a new logo.
Another feature, forget multiple undo and just allow the last action to be undone.
Allow full colour customisations of pin colours, you allow it on email so why not on pins?
Your fee is way to high. Take ‘Canary’ for example, $20 for lifetime app. That’s more reasonable to me. I would pay you that. Nobody wants to pay your monthly premium fee. I can’t imagine you having many sales in that area when there are so many cheaper alternatives available.
That’s it form me, I hope this constructive criticism finds you well and you are all keeping safe.

Signatures, templates, snooze

Best app for handling email signatures for sure. The templates feature is excellent for those that need to send regular emails of similar content — I love the automatic fields that update with the recipient’s name and placeholders that flag data fields that can be updated each time you send the message. Also loving the send later and snooze features. The fact that settings sync across devices is also welcome and makes the app use a breeze. Time will tell how stable the app is and it’s reliability. Highly recommended, especially for those with an all Apple setup.

Great app - updated review

Very impressed so far. Nice customisations, shows different email accounts separately, easy swipe options for deleting and moving, and it puts the most likely folder at the top of the list when you move an email to a folder. Very neat. I just wish I could turn off threads - Outlook is the only one I have tried that does this.
An update after a few months... I love Spark. I don't need a really complex email client and have tried the most popular ones, but Spark's integrated inbox, easy moving to folders, pins and a few other bits and pieces mean that I will be looking no further.
Another update... I had a problem with the links between Spark, OneNote and OneDrive, which I reported. I have had several replies from Readdle, requests for more info and tests, progress updates and finally a beta to test. They have solved the problem. Outstanding support from them! I could not have asked for more. And it’s still a great email app.

Fatal Flaw

This is the email app that would be my go-to email app if it wasn't for a fatal flaw. I'm not sure how this is happening, but somehow this app is deleting random emails from my mailbox. It sounds odd, I know, and I didn't believe it at first, but after experiencing this issue I stopped using the app for a few months until today. Sure enough, shortly after opening the app, I suddenly can't find at least one email that was there before. It's not in my junk/spam folder or trash, and the only way I can confirm it was ever there is through a built-in email archiving feature that my email hosting offers.
I have no idea how this could be happening, but considering the severity of this issue I have no option but remove my accounts from it and uninstall it.

Version 2.5.4

Email fatigue inducing

The app claims it reinvent email but it doesn’t really do much to try and achieve that. It looks a lot similar to Gmail on iOS.
I don’t like the whole short and long swiping actions. I’d prefer simple left and right but they’ve broken it down to two actions per side swipe making it slower to use because you need to think and be careful when the action changes.
Another pet peeve is the welcome emails ‘from the co-founder’. They’re automatically sent and not unique. It’s an old fashioned thing from way back that I don’t understand why it still happens.
Lastly, what really annoyed me was the button to send a tweet when my inbox is empty. In today’s world it’d be great if we could catch a break from always needing to post something to social media. Sparks attempt to make email seem new doesn’t do anything but give you the same fatigue you started with before you downloaded it.
I wouldn’t normally be this critical but I read lots of good things about Spark and it looked good but upon further inspection it’s just another app that makes you bored of email.

Very good, sensible and reliable

This is a very useful app, and is my primary email manager, since almost everything can be done easily on the go. It’s reliable (even when my email provider isn’t!) and easy and efficient to use.
It’s certainly one that I recommend to others.
One thing would be really helpful: blacklist/whitelist within the app.
It’s rare that something which is a problem actually gets through the spam filters, but the option to blacklist the offending sender should be there in the app. A Block function exists in almost every communication-related app, so am not sure why it’s missing here. There should be no need to switch to a desktop version of a paid app to do something that should be obvious, especially given the target market of professional users.

Really Satisfying ...

I don’t really do app reviews, but Spark is such a satisfying alternative to Gmail that I've to admit I love it. Stylish and really well-provisioned with services, like the wide range of your other favourite services you can use with it via the share sheet, it does most things you need. Easy, for instance, to create a pdf of your email, then save it to Google Drive. I do still have Gmail on my iPad as it’s useful to have it running for things like creating folders and assigning emails to the required folder. But for everyday use, Spark is a great, free, app.

Wonderful UI Update

Guys - you have ABSOLUTELY nailed this update. Haters gonna hate - and I have read all the negative comments form those who are aghast that their interface has changed. But Readdle Designers - you have been bold and have made a truly modern interface here and I only hope you know that some people will kick back at the ‘new’. That’s inevitable. For me, this has now become the most polished, most forward-thinking, intuitive, and downright lovely email client in the App Store. Spark is not resting on its laurels. It’s pushing the boundaries - always. And that’s why we should all support this App. At the end of the day, it absolutely BLOWD away every other email app in the App Store - from features and functionality to UI and interaction. Give it 3 months and we will ALL decide this new design is far superior. Bravo, Readdle Team !

Is good should be better

Since the recent redesign of which there have been many many many there is now no longer a way to hold emails for multiple delete. All that comes up is the options to action individual email.
Delete is a prime function for an email app as is bull edits or actions. Yes the other features are good but not being able to edit an incoming email list with multiple deletes. This is basic. Maybe add a button to the slide to pin? Or a bottom toolbar with an edit or select multiple option.
Other than this let’s talk about the calendar access... so far in tour redesigns it’s been in the header, in the footer, as a floating radio button to the left, in the hamburger menu.
Someone needs to tell your designers to stop. Seriously UI people understand this constant moving of a basic feature is maddening. Why should I have to relearn the app every time you up date? That’s counter intuitive and not user friendly.
So functionally a good app at the moment ruined by the tyranny of UI / UX devs who can’t understand basic consistency of UX

Hands down the best email app!

I’ve sampled and used many different mail clients in the past, from Airmail, Postbox, Newton, Gmail, Inbox etc.. None have really made managing email more simpler than Spark and they all had their quirks. I was previously an Airmail fantatic, but because Spark is free and offer decent and frequent updates, I decided to move three years ago and never regretted. The unified mailbox is great and the swipe actions, snooze options an quick replies are impressive. Working within a team, we can easy comment on emails without filling up our inboxes. The latest update (Nov 2019) has just made it faster and improved the UI.. love it! Thanks developers, whatever you’re doing, you’re doing it well.

Unresolved issues offputting

I tried spark as an alternative to Apple Mail, which after an update stopped working with my gmail account. At first everything was very smooth, but I noticed a few small niggles: badge numbers were inconsistent, and on the iOS app the display is mis-formatted and you can’t see the numbers of messages at the right of the main screen. Minor irritations, but irritations nonetheless.
Then the serious stuff started happening: missing emails. Early attempts to contact customer support were ignored, though to be fair once they did respond, they were very solicitous- but alas to no avail. I have years worth of emails which have disappeared from Spark, but which are preserved on the Apple Mail app.
So it’s goodbye to Spark and the search for a functioning mail app continues!

Spark

This is a brilliant app and I would give 5 stars if it would show the icon of "already replied" on the email list view. All the other email apps that I use have it, so I can't understand why Spark hasn't included this feature on their updates yet.
I never know if our office assistant has already replied to our emails or not without having to open the email or go into sent items...
There was a new update yesterday and still no icon for email already replied and no update for Dark Mode...
This 2 features it's all that's missing in this app to be the best of the best out there and I would definitely give this app 5 stars if we get them.
In the meantime, I'm using it to read and write all my emails but have to keep switching to iOS mail app or Outlook app to check if any email has already been replied... Hopefully next update comes quick...

Good but not great

On a Mac Spark is fantastic. Delegation and collaboration on emails is a game changer.
I wish I could say the same for the iOS app. Here are the issues:
- there’s no dedicated calendar button so you have to navigate to the inbox to find the options button to then view the calendar. This means you could be keeping sent mails, then it takes three taps to get to your calendar.
- the calendar often crashes or freezes needing a restart of the app.
- you can’t press and hold to create a new event or drag an event to last longer or shorter
- the app is kind of slow! Unless you check your email all the time, when you open the app you get the Spark logo welcome page. This happens pretty much every time! Annoying.
- the auto signature suggestion is too long. There’s isn’t a select all button to make it easy to reject the suggested choices
Now for the good:
- syncing settings across devices is great
- the smart inbox is good once you get used to it
- scheduling events with a selection of conferencing options is really fantastic

A Must-Have if you have lots of E-Mails! ❤️

This app is a must have if you have lots of different email accounts. It’s brilliant because I have lots of “junk mail” accounts and only two I actually care about. The app makes it great because I can customise my Smart Inbox with what accounts and disable notifications for junk ones. You can completely customise it every way you can think of! Also a plus is when you log in with one email account in another spark app (e.g a Mac) it will auto add all your other accounts. Thank you Readdle! 🤪

The best heavyweight email app I've found

Spark has a very long list of excellent qualities including (in random order): great design, top-class usability, reliability, on both iphone and ipad, intelligent inbox, swipes, signatures, aliases, save as pdf, lots of links to other apps, good handling of attachments, great search, compatible with all my different accounts, quick responses...
Suggestions for minor improvement: adjustable font-size especially for newsletters, more subtle ad for Spark in the quick responses, improve logo (to me the vertical arrowhead does not quite feel like an ios icon).
Outlook is good, but I'm still using Spark!

The best in App Store

I got stuck on Airmail for a few years, and decided about a year ago to try some of the other email clients. I was actually really liking the new Microsoft Outlook, but this app is the current winner by far. The only thing I do not like about this app is that it does not make it obvious that it is caching your credentials for your email addresses. So it’s caching your credentials for your work email your personal email and whatever emails you’re using. Other than that it makes everything very convenient and works quite well. So I’m quite happy at the moment :-)

Wanted to love this...

I really like the functions of this app, especially the Smart Inbox - it would really help organise my mail for work. And I think the overall UI design is fantastic...
BUT, it’s just too slow! I get a notification, click it, and then have to wait a long time before the content of the message loads (often I have to quit the app and reopen it before I can get anything). The MacOS app is slightly faster, but ideally I need a responsive email client while I’m on the go, and this just doesn’t work for me.
I’ll keep the app installed for now, just so I can keep an eye on the release notes for each update. If I see the developers work on improving the load speed, I may return to this as my main mail app. But for now, I will stick with either the stock app, or perhaps give something else a go.

Could be great

Spark is one of the very few apps that allow you to seamlessly work with emails in other apps, creating reminders in OmniFocus or Things, saving to Pocket or Evernote and for that it’s great.
But it focuses on bells and whistles without getting the basics right. I’ve never had a badge shown for unread emails In Spark and not only does it not allow the font size to be changed in the iOS app, it doesn’t even respect the font scaling setting of iOS itself.
I’d love to be able to use the app, but not being able to read emails makes it pointless. I’d be happy to pay a reasonable amount for the app. I subscribed to Newton to be able to use 50% of the features that spark has, but given the stubbornness of the team to even commit to providing this setting (see their twitter feed for details) I’ll not be using spark any longer

Great initially. But just too slow!

When I started using Spark I thought it was great. Refreshing and enjoyable user experience. Unfortunately I have now binned this app off as for me, as a heavy email user, the app has just become borderline unusable. Emails are slow to arrive, and ridiculously slow to load. I simply don't have the time or patience to wait 10 mins to read an email. The desktop app also has this really annoying thing where it wants to sync the database right as you need to quite the app, sometimes hindering restart or shut down times. It is also slow to receive and load emails too. So I have also binned the desktop app off as well. I reached out to the Readle team via email to ask them to fix the issues, as I really do like the interface and ideally I would have liked to continue using the app. But I had no response which indicates to me that they are not over bothered in fixing the problems. Updates comes through but they seem more interested in adding new features rather than fixing core issues to make the app actually work in a robust manner. It's just become extremely unproductive to use. I have moved back to Outlook as it exhibits none of the issues above and work flawlessly. Mail also works absolutely fine but I prefer Outlook. At this current point in time I could not recommend this app sadly.

Clean & straightforward

After trying various bells and whistles email tools I was attracted to SPARK. I have been using it for quite a while now and feel more comfortable with it every day. The way new emails are presented then filed automatically under email address and to be able to respond with minimal input, appeals to me. Many contacts deserve to have confirmation that an email has been received, but with other email tools time available means putting off a reply sometimes meaning the reply gets forgotten.
With SPARK two taps can mean instant reply which can be followed up later.
I recommend giving it a try. After playing with options you will soon slip into SPARK`S comfort zone.

Great email app ... Could be the best personal assistant app

Support:
Please can you add functionality so that inbox subfolders may be created and managed using the app rather than only via the web platform.
Please can you add functionality in the next update such that different email accounts can be assigned different sounds in respect of their new message alerts.
---------
I have tested this app out by using it in parallel with iOS mail and Gmail apps. I have now deleted the other two apps and Spark has replaced them as my sole email app. I am really very pleased with it.
It is a really smart app with slick functionality. For example swiping between different email signatures is a nice touch.
Clearly the calendar function is not the focus of this app's expertise but I wasn't expecting it to be. I have deactivated the calendar.
My go to is 24me app which is in the same league as Spark but focused on calendar, tasks and notes functionalities. In my opinion also the best at what it does on the market.
Spark is the best email app on the market at the moment for sure. If it merged with 24me/exceeded 24me in functionality then it would be by far the best (and I would wager only comprehensive) personal assistant app out there - and that I would pay money for.
Well done developers this is a good app. I hope you will take my suggestion under consideration for the future. I really think it has potential to be a great all in personal assistant app.

Bice but need improvements devs read ty!

Hello and thank you for this app. Really good idea and works well.
However, i’d like to get devs attention because I see several problems.
1st, my emails getting mixed up when I added more emails accounts. Whether I click newly added email, i can still see emails listed which belongs to different email account added earlier. Thats quite annoying. Yes - they are highlighted with different colour so one still can tell what email address it has been sent to, but I really don’t like it.
2nd, smart email list and normal email list are not working properly when switching email accounts - again, multiple account setup related issue. Default it shows smart list, but when switching to another email accout, smart list is gone even I left it with smart list enabled. I don’t see point of having it unless it works. Thanks and hope it will get sorted, so whatever preference I choose for particular email account, will stay no matter how many times I switch between email accounts.

Potential for the future

This is impressive however, it's not quite there yet. I have been using Spark for a couple of weeks now and I really like it but for work, it’s not quite good enough.
•I have to reactivate Apple Mail to view some attachments and that totally negates the whole point of having Spark. Sometimes it will open a word or PDF document and sometimes it won’t. I know Apple Mail will always open them.
•Navigation could be slightly better, particularly where deleting emails is concerned.
•I have been unable to work out how to creat new folders or sub-folders in the mobile app version and again, I have had to run back to the Apple app to do that.
•Loading old email in subfolders for the first time is very slow in both Spark and Apple Mail but it’s excruciatingly slow in Spark.
•I don't use it on a PC so I have no idea how good the PC application is.
•I have found the predictive folder, or ‘Move’ application to be a little more intuitive than that on the Apple Mail app but it is a tad slower.
•Spark looks good and I have enjoyed using it.
Unfortunately its not quite there yet and I do not need to have to keep flicking between email applications. Sparks does some things better that Apple Mail but Apple mail does everything I need and Spark does not; not yet.
I’m sure it will get there and I’m pretty sure it will be awesome when it does.

The email client to END all email clients!

I've used a lot of different email clients and apps over the last few years. And I'm a little picky about what I like. But this combines simplicity with efficiency and makes e-mail a joy to do by putting the useful stuff in front of my eyes first and getting rid of the useless stuff. Smart inbox for the win!
Excited to see where this goes next - hoping the Calendar integration progresses in the same manner as it would be nice to manage email, calendar and reminders all within the one system.

Threaded view is a nightmare.

Lovely app, almost the perfect email client for me with lots of potential. However, and it’s a big one forcing threaded conversations on the user makes it nearly a non starter. After a week of evaluation I was missing new emails as they were buried in threads, and the structure of the presentation especially if forwarded or attached emails are included means it’s a Sherlock Holmes job to find the mail you want to work with. I have to switch to another app to figure out what’s going on, and that’s not sustainable.
If this had the option of standard mail view and not conversations it would be five stars as the search is fast and effective, tie in with Evernote and Todoist is brilliant and signature management is perfect. Come on guys give us the option to not have the conversation view.

Mostly Excellent

I'm writing this because it was requested by Spark. I have tried most of the apps out there that work across iOS and Mac OS platforms and Spark is the one I always seem to come back to. I use multiple email addresses with multiple folders in each and Spark is clear and easy to use for the most part even for the non techie (me!). It is feature rich and I especially use the Pinned Message and Snooze features, they are really handy for me.
There is one annoyance which I wish they would sort out and that is that you can't create a folder in Spark (not in iOS at least, not sure about Mac OS) which means that you have to use a different client such as Airmail or Mac Mail to do this. The folders then appear in Spark but it would be so much better if you could just do this seemingly simple thing without going to a different app.
Overall it is probably the best out there in my opinion as it is not as cluttered as Airmail and not cost preventative like Newton which is great but ridiculously priced.
Just need the folder issue sorting out.....!

Still the best but getting frustrated

I’ve tried a whole lot of email apps and this turned out the best (even in version 1). I should have realised that Readdle would make the best - it is pretty close to perfect. It does snoozes well, moving to folders well and syncs between iOS devices. But I’d hoped that more than 2 years are making a very reasonable request they would have made an attempt to allow photos to be sent inline instead of as an attachment. This still isn’t there and I return to Airmail for this one thing. I’m sure it can’t be hard to do inline pictures as even Apple mail does it. I’m still using it but it’s getting frustrating.

Still need Apple Mail occasionally

Spark is fine. Especially on a mobile device. Process mail quickly, separating the wheat from the chaff. But, occasionally, I still need to open Apple Mail to perform some essential tasks. Finding an elusive email archived long ago, is one. And another is to process a long chain of emails, where some of the emails have one or more actions I need to perform before I can archive or delete that particular email. In Spark, you can't yet archive a single email in the middle of a chain — at least I can't see how to do so. Deleting is allowed, however. So, whilst Spark is good, it's not quite yet good enough to ditch Apple Mail entirely.

Excellent App

I’ve had this app for quite a while and only recently spent the time setting it up. I’ve found the Search facility very useful especially the facility to save searches as favourites, using: from “email address” this allows you to quick bring a list of emails from that particular email address.
Also the facility to be able to setup Smart Folders in the left hand side bar. I recommend spending the time reading the instructions to set this up it will save you hours of time with your emails.

Light in the World of Email

Spark is a mostly reliable and easy to use app for email. The team at Readdle seem intent to offer this free when it could justify a price, but perhaps subsidised by their other products.
The only faults I've detected are buggy which will no doubt be ironed out. Swiping actions can misfire if not completed fully. There's also the occasional time when new emails are not shown in the badge count or remain in the count after being read.
Minor issues can be annoying. Discussion threads are also oddly stacked meaning you need to click / tap to find the history. It hasn't stopped me looking at Airmail though.

Lovely design, good feature set... almost perfect

I’ve tried a lot of mail apps too. I tried this a while ago, didn’t like smart inbox, moved to airmail and then Edison mail. After some bugs from Email I tried this again, and updates have moved it on. It’s easy to toggle between regular and smart inbox, deleting is easy (something many email clients bury in favour of archiving), it looks clean and easy to read.
I like to file emails in folders for when search doesn’t work (and it doesn’t when you want to find that email from your mum - or maybe your sister - who mentioned something you can’t remember the name of in the middle of a bunch of other stuff...). My favourite feature of Spark is the filing auto-suggestions, which are spot on 85% of the time (basically when you’ve filed something from that sender before). However, my biggest missing feature - and why it only gets 4 stars - is the ability to easily create a new folder. I don’t think you _can_ do it from the phone app, which is a big drawback for me.

Apple Watch problems (?)

I really love this app on iPhone, iPad and iMac. I was going to try this on my Watch as well. It works well, I got the notifications and so on, the only problem that I can’t open my message list and the messages themselves. (I’m using four accounts anyway). Rather than opening them there is a loading process which takes forever. It might be an issue because I tried to open the messages via wifi or 4G, but still nothing happens...
Please let me know what should I do to be able to read my messages on my apple watch. Thanks :)

Good but some issues for me

I really wanted to get on with Spark. The whole idea and operation is great and very handy. I would have given 5 stars. However I found it used a lot of battery power (22% at last count). So it lost a star for me there. I reached out to the developer a while back to give me some advice on why it was using so much power but they’ve not responded. So it lost another star. I also found that it was missing its notification sound at times when set to the app notification sound. So not sure what’s going on there. Uninstalled until developer decides to reply. Nothing Like The Other Mail Apps

I’ve far too many mail accounts in my life, all needing daily attention. I’ve been fed up with Mail on both iOS & OS X for a while but it works so I always default to it after trying out other apps. I’ve got Outlook because I have to support it but I find it a cumbersome, awkward beast. So, in idle moments I go looking for something better. The world certainly isn’t short of indistinct email clients and I reckon I’ve seen most of them in my time so I wasn’t expecting much from Spark.
I’m not not one for writing reviews. I’ll usually just rate an app and move on but Spark has made such a great difference to my days that I need to share. It’s far from being indistinct.
Setting up accounts is a breeze. The Smart Inbox & Notifications filter out the noise and let you get on with the important stuff. It looks cool, like a modern app should. The Quick Replies are handy and easy to personalise. Easy connecting to Dropbox & other services. So easy to use it’s now on my desktop and iPad. I don’t use anything else for my own accounts.
Two gripes give it four rather than the five stars:
iCloud settings sync seemed to be loosing accounts I’d setup on my desktop. Frustrating while I worked out what was happening. Had to set them up on my phone before they appeared on all devices.
Sometimes invoking Touch ID is a little slow.
Otherwise, Spark is a fantastic tool and has got me happily dealing with my digital mail mountain.

Lots of potential

This is one of the better email apps out there. I have been using it for a few months competing with another email app. For a time it was my first choice it’s even multi format in the Apple ecosystem which is a huge win! However there were a few drawbacks which have made me go back to Apple Mail for now. Notification spam is a big problem. The notifications seem to be localised to each device and even when it was set to smart I was still receiving random notifications on each device. I also had a sync conflict which wiped out all of my favourites which was annoying. There are also a few bugs and email rendering issues which Apple Mail does not have. I might switch back one day depending on updates...

Brilliant

I was looking for an email client that was supported on Apple Watch and was able to print emails. The only one I found that could do this was the apple stock mail. As I am using gmail this wasn't to clever on my Apple Watch, so, I kept looking then I found Swift. It was free, supported both Apple Watch and printed; and guess what even calendar was supported and being I use google Callander and sync iCal this was great because even , online storage was supported. Definitely the best iOS email client you can get. Also there's even a macOS one to. Keep the good work up Swift. All for free. One thing I think should be added and that’s only one minus against a lot of plus’s and that’s the addition of an attachment reminder to emails , so, you don’t forget to add an attachment. (We’ve all done that at least once) :-)

I really want Spark to be my primary email app

But I keep finding little niggles that cause me problems. First, Spark compresses images without asking me. I’m a photographer and emailing images to people for prints or edits needs to be done at full resolution. Don’t change it without telling me (I did some tests to confirm this after a client told me the image I sent was too small to print). Second, someone sends me an invoice as a pdf and Spark won’t open it. It just says “preparing” when I try to open it. Apple Mail and my other email app open it fine. It’s frustrating because Spark is so much nicer to use than Apple Mail, but I have to be able to do Simple things without worrying if it’s going to work. Hopefully, one day...

Amazing email app - great for EXCHANGE

First of all, this email app is free and does pretty much everything all of the others do that you need to pay for (E.g. Airmail).
The app is light and responsive which is its selling feature to me. Speedy at downloading and sending is key, and this app delivers (which is where Airmail let me down).
I use this to check my work email (exchange) and iCloud mail. It does both with ease. The only thing I would change is the ability to turn off threads, but I am getting used to it. I am concerned however that by deleting what you think is the email you just sent and it is linked (through threading) to another email it seems to delete the one I wanted to keep too.
Finally a feature I would add is push scheduling (I'm not sure if this is possible on iOS though). So I'd just receive my work emails during the day Monday to Friday and mute whilst on holiday.
Overall the best email app I've tried (and tried a lot!), with Airmail 2nd and Outlook 3rd.

My favourite email app

Switched to it a year and half ago and reviewed it very positively after 6 months using it. One year later I keep finding it the best email app on iOS ahead of Mail, Gmail and Mailbox. I manage 5 different email addresses and it is easy to keep control on all my emails particularly the most important ones, thanks to the way the intelligent inbox helps organise them. I like the additional features like the possibility to save attachements to Google Drive or Dropbox, or saving emails for later action.
Highly recommend a trial for those with multiple email accounts and using Google Drive.
