Monkey Wrench is a fun word find quiz game with a twist that will challenge your brain – you have to use the clues to figure out what the hidden words are! If you like crossword puzzles and wordsearch games, you’ll love Monkey Wrench!
The answers will be about movies, food, science, sports, music, fashion, history and many other subjects (with lots of fun wordplay) – the 3 difficulty levels and helpful hints will give you just the kind of fun word-searching fun spelling game you’ve been looking for. Words are hidden in a grid, but the monkey wrench in the quiz that will tease and challenge you is that before you can find the words, you need to work out what they are!
Each puzzle consists of a grid of hexagonal tiles with letters. Some tiles are shaded; these are the first letters of the clues that fit into the categories at the top of the screen (swipe sideways to see more categories). Trace or tap a path of connected tiles to select letters and spell out an answer. If your answer matches one of the clues spelling out the word, the tiles disappear and you will find yourself closer to solving the puzzle. Use your brain to hunt for all the clues to clear the tiles and win!
Monkey Wrench comes with one free bundle of 25 puzzles (with more puzzle packs available for purchase) and the three most recent daily puzzles are also available. Every puzzle has three difficulty levels – find the right one to tease and challenge your brain:
EASY shows you all the full answers to the clues you need to search for.
MEDIUM shows you only the first letters of each word.
HARD gives you nothing but blanks to fill in.
You can monkey around between difficulty levels hunting for answers by resetting the puzzle. You may also use the available hints to reveal the vowels of a clue, the last letter, or its location in the grid. If it wasn't so American focused, we British could play it in 'Hard' mode.
Looking at these reviews, it shouldn't be hard to recruit some English puzzle composers. You seem to have that for 'Seven'.

They had to get commercial and try to sell you stuff or more accurately, bribe you to watch on the space they have sold.
Well here is the thing I will NEVER watch those videos and I have now got such a downer on the app I shall probably delete it! I certainly will no longer recommend it.
I have made exactly the same comments for the same reasons, about 7 Little Words too.
UPDATE: The has got worse and too intrusive. I liked playing this but now I HAVE DELETED IT!

I really love this puzzle and complete it every day
My only gripe is the questions are predominantly geared for thd US market

Great idea for a game totally let down by the developers not knowing there are other countries apart from the U.S.A. and when they do a question about outside of the U.S. don’t check the facts, e.g. Question - Famous British People, Answer - Edmund Hillary a New Zealander.

UK VERSION PLEASE
Love the concept of the game but agree with the comments made by a lot of people,please let’s have a UK version to make it more appealing.A lot of the questions are too US orientated.

Localisation
It's heavily biased towards the USA. A lot of the clues are obscure to international players. And the spellings are in simplified English (American English)

Great game to pass the time. Loses a star because it's better suited to an American audience and a couple of the answers are incorrect. One example - Question: Name a great Australian? Their answer is Captain Cook. This is wrong as he was British. Still good addictive fun though and worth downloading.

If you like word puzzle games this is a good one. There are hints if you need them as there is a lot of American personalities in it.

Good Word Game
Enjoying playing this but it is biased towards the American culture. Too many questions based on US shows/ history etc. Otherwise good fun.

Too American
The gameplay is fine and it looks nice but the questions are just too American to make any sense to this Brit - I hadn't heard of half the "famous" people and the answers to "Books about Europe" were 'Beowulf' and The Borrowers'... You're kidding, right?!!
If they did a version that was a bit more universal / less celebrity specific I'd download it and maybe even buy extras, but this got too annoying so I deleted it.

Addictive game
The daily puzzle is part of my morning routine. Sometimes have difficulty with the American sports people but when you do the ones you know the remainder can be guessed or worked out. I love doing it and would recommend to anyone. Makes you think a bit.

Relaxing
I play this last thing at night before I sleep and is a great way of winding down and destressing.
A lot of the answers are US based unfortunately, so I clearly will not know about NFL, or college teams. Other things are American spelling of words. Ie UK: Tyre, as apposed to US: Tire.
Good thing with the app, is if you don't know something, you can move on to another clue and then go back to it at a later time.
In all, the app is great and I have spent hours on the puzzles in total. I do hope to see a few more British words in future release.

I really love this game but always have to pretty much guess for ages (and have never even heard of ...) American Baseball stars and the like !

Good word game but you need a uk version. 7 little words has so why not this? Would be 5* if it did. I won't spend any more money until it has. Too American.

This is a very enjoyable game. The easy and normal levels are too easy but the hard level is fun.

I'm enjoying this game massively! You don't get stuck like in some where you have to buy extra hints cause you can just choose a lower level. Definitely recommended

I agree with other reviewers. The puzzle clues and answers are not designed for a UK clientele. Fortunately the puzzle design is such that they are not too difficult to complete even if you haven't any idea of the answers so the game is still enjoyable.

Really great but spelling is atrocious
A fabulous title from Blue Ox, the style of the game is really fun and engaging to play but this game is a spelling game and there can be a lot of confusion when the answers have been spelt incorrectly by the puzzle designer.
Often it can be guesswork to find out how they've misspelt the word and they seem to be more towards how a word might sound than be written which is maybe down to a new quite younger recruit on the team.
Some of the categories can be a bit obscure too and seem to include a lot of US focused knowledge rather than general, which makes it harder for people in the rest of the world but it's still a great game and I would thoroughly recommend.
The pricing structure for paying for bundles of previously free puzzles I think is unfair, one payment to unlock the feature would be better in my opinion.

Room for improvement
As others have mentioned, the puzzles are far too Focussed on America. Other blue Ox games have managed to avoid this this, so hopefully it will change.
The other issue is the poor quality of the puzzles themselves. Despite what today's daily puzzle would have you believe, there are no judges in skiing.

US-centric
To echo many of the reviews here...
I'm enjoying the game but, as a player from the UK, I'd like to have puzzles that are more global and less US-centric please.
I like to play on Hard but trying to solve U.S. brands of cereal or soap, hockey hall of famers or NFL quarterbacks for example, adds a whole new level of difficulty and mainly means resorting to guesses!
Loses a star because of this.
I was going to buy one of the larger puzzle packs but, after reading review after review re Americanism I think I'll pass until this looks like it's been addressed.
It's a shame as otherwise it's an enjoyable game.

Tedious....
This is very poor. Even on hard it is not difficult, but maybe that is a reflection that it is aimed at the American market. It is bad enough remembering the misspelling of words, the alternate words and needing a knowledge of American sports, but when the clue 'World War 2 leaders' produced two Americans and a Russian, it was time to delete!

Surprisingly fun
Simple premise, yes there are sometimes too many American words which are not always clear, but the game play is such that you can usually work them out without too much trouble. Best fun in hard mode!

I can do the hard puzzles but need to do a lot of guesswork for clues relating to American sports, companies etc. Fortunately the way MonkeyWrench works you can quite easily work the clues out even if you've never heard of the answers. So it's quite satisfying but I would give it five stars if it was less America focussed.

Great concept, poor puzzles
Love games like this, including 7 little words, and this one has a lot of promise. However, there are so many duplicate words / puzzles and so many of the clues are American-centric that it doesn't feel like good value. I'm half way through the 250 puzzle pack and I must have entered skyfall and strawberry at least 10 times each

Americanisms are a problem
Great game but as well as having to guess the solution you have to guess whether the answer is an Americanism/American way of spelling.
More free games would be good too. American sports teams and names don't come easily to me either.
