Inspiring and heartbreaking

As a trainee in Obs and Gynae, this is a book I strongly recommend for the medical students alongside the textbooks so as you know the world of Obs and Gynae more in depth, how colourful and exciting everyday is while you can see the most dramatic things of medical field at the same time!

Brilliant

I loved the author’s sense of humor at the same time the book was an eye opener to learn what medical professionals go through. It completely changes one’s perspective about the profession.

Read It!

This book made me laugh, cry and despair in equal measures…..and also made me feel eternally grateful for the wonderful human beings who work in medicine, doing their best for others, often in the worst of circumstances. Bless you all.

Adult humour at its best

All the reviews mention how hilarious and caustic this book is but none focus on the personal hell the author went through in order to bring it to us. No one should have to work this hard whilst delivering babies, arguably one of the most important branches of medicine. Criminal incompetence on the part of successive administrations has allowed this long hours culture to develop. Any minister responsible for the NHS should cap a junior doctor’s hours at 40 immediately. No arguments. On behalf of us all Thankyou Adam for your service…and a wonderful human story.

Cried so hard laughing and broke my heart

Horrendously accurate and relatable, as a doctor in the NHS myself, having worked as a neonatologist I have gleamed a new insight to my esteemed colleagues in obstetrics and gynaecology. The stories in this book, are downright hysterical, honest and powerful. I’m not surprised the positive reception and applauds it has received. Well done, Adam.
If you haven’t read this and think it might not be for you, you’re probably wrong!

Brilliant read (in one day as couldn’t put it down).
Incredibly funny anecdotes but also a truthful and previously hidden insight into a doctors life in the NHS

Rollercoaster

I laughed and I cried. The way he writes things with such short wit really made me laugh. The ending upset me a surprising amount, but I really enjoyed reading his story and was sad that he decided to leave the profession as he clearly was an excellent dr!

Informative witty and funny

Thoroughly enjoyed sitting and reading this book. Gained extra insight to what it is like working in the front line of the NHS in a comedic way. Learning about the different stages a junior doctor goes through to progress in the career after graduating from medical school, and learnt about different types of procedures and about the famous GMC and what it truly is about
10/10 book definitely would recommend to anyone thinking about going into the medical field

Couldnt put it down

Absolutely brilliant way of writing a book, loved the use of diary entries , making it a lot easier to read , didn’t once feel overwhelmed with pages an pages of lots of words. Emotionally? Wow - what a roller coaster, I laughed , I sighed , i agreed , I cried , i sympathised , I was shocked, specifically by the removal of a remote control, that was a personnal fave from the first book 🤣 . What can I say Adam , totally smashes both books , u have to read both books , it’s the law , for sure . I’m gutted I’ve read them to be honest but omg what an absolute eye opener an definitely given me a different outlook on life ... I now always ask my gp how they are an wish them a good day x huge thank you for a true description of our NHS an just what they go through on a daily . Thank you NHS , we will always be indebted to you an once again thank you Adam for 2 fantastically written books .
I wish u every success in your new journey xx

Bloody Brilliant!

I’m not much of a reader but I was curious about this book. Most books I’ve read I’ve put down after 5 pages after getting bored but I just couldn’t give this book up. Every page drawing me closer to know how the story ended. Loved this book and has taught me a lot more about how vital the NHS is. Brilliant writing and stories!

A true story teller

Everything about this was amazing. I laughed out loud, I googled phrases astonished, I was shocked, outraged, filled with joy and at times had to close my eyes due to graphic descriptions. But everything everyone says about this book is true... read it because is blooming brilliant.

Stories not tales of a junior doctor

Stark funny and moving. It is to be admired for not holding anything back. The notes are very interesting and informative. Shame that their location forces the reader either to memorise their content or going back and forth from page to page. The style of the narrative is very impressive.

Insightful

Such an insightful book, the pressures the NHS have each day is really crazy. I have a new profound respect for what these doctors do for us, their impact in our lives, or mine will never go unnoticed. Great book, gruesome sometimes if you have a vivid imagination😂

Good

Whilst I get this was a good theme. It’s not the greatest “read” of the year. It also reminds me, stick with women obstetricians. Love the NHS but not wowed by this.
