Description

JACK REACHER NEVER LOOKS BACK . . . UNTIL NOW.
The most hotly anticipated paperback thriller of the year follows our hero Jack Reacher on a quest into his father's past, and climaxes in the most blood-curdling ticking time bomb of an adventure yet.
The present can be tense . . .
A young couple trying to get to New York City are stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. Before long they’re trapped in an ominous game of life and death.
But the past can be worse . . .
Meanwhile, Jack Reacher sets out on an epic road trip across America. He doesn’t get far. Deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been - the town where his father was born. But when he arrives he is told no one named Reacher ever lived there. Now he wonders: who’s lying?
As the tension ratchets up and these two stories begin to entwine, the stakes have never been higher for Reacher.
That’s for damn sure.

Sooo disappointed. Was going to wnwait for the paperback but gave in and bought the Hardback after all. What a waste of money. I discovered Jack Reacher when he came out in his first book and have read all 23 Books in the series.
This was an embarrassment and did not befit Lee Childs, certainly not up to his usual standard. For the first time ever, I kept putting the book to do other things!
Maybe Tom Cruise is partly responsible as he is definitely NOT Jack Reacher by any stretch of the imagination. How did you let that happen Lee?
Anyway I wont be holding my breath for the next one, wish I had kept all the others to re read.
Tres hereux!

Not the best in the series as it took a while to get going in the Reacher style of doing things. The two Canadians are the heroes of the book doing what Reacher normally does. Maybe time for Reacher to walk into the sunset and disappear before he becomes tired or even more worn out.

Om

Nice story, rushed ending, downward spiral continues I’m afraid.

Disappointing

As a true fan of Jack Reacher ‘s character, I was extremely disappointed with this outing. The two storylines were obviously going to collide at some point in the book but it just took so long. I was literally skipping all the explanation of the men coming to the hotel and the reasoning behind him thinking his father could be alive after 30 years. I ‘ll give the next one a try but if it goes the same way then I am afraid I shall have to draw a close on Mr Child’s fantastic character.

Another classic Reacher

What more can I say. It’s a page turner and it’s got Reacher in it. If you’re a fan you’ll love it.

Getting stale

Having recently read all of the Diane Capri - “Hunting for Jack Reacher” books I was impatient to read this new offering and had, as always pre-ordered it.
It was a disappointment.
700+ pages that could have been told in half that amount.
Too much waffle and not enough Jack.
The essence of Jack was as diminutive as his recent screen portrayal by.... what’s his name, Tom...Thumb.
Sorry Lee, I am in no mad rush to read the next Reacher book

What happened...??

Either I have read too many Jack Reacher novels (i.e all of them) or Lee Child has written too many.
I didn’t enjoy “The Midnight Line” very much but at least I finished it! This latest adventure just doesn’t flow and I have found myself reading a couple of chapters and then losing interest, I try again after a while and the same thing happens.
If you a JR fan as I undoubtably was / am then I wouldn’t ruin your memory of one of the most enjoyable characters in modern fiction...save your money and reread the earlier novels all over again.

An excellent way to spend an evening

Lee Child doesn't disappoint. Same old same old, but in a good way. Entertaining to the end.

Running out of ideas

Same formula but with much weaker pull. A book a year is to frequent, Lee Child needs to switch it up.

Past it’s time by date!

I am sorry to say but i really didn’t enjoy this book compared to his earlier books. In my modest opinion it wasn’t a Jack Reacher book but Patty and Shorty book, and for 10 pounds not really worth it. It seems to be a similar story recently if i must say so. I hope he’s got something better for the future or finish him all together.

Superb!

I've read all the Reacher books and they just keep getting better & better! Definite 'must read' - not only for all Reacher fans, but those who (incredibly) may have missed out on Lee Child's fantastic series. Start from the very first book and read them all - you won't be disappointed!

Little bit “samey”

Love everything Lee writes and I feel Jack R is a really good friend after reading every one of his adventures to date.
If Jack walked into my bar, we would talk for ever....over a pot of coffee!
Bought and read this latest adventure in 24 hours straight through, rather disappointingly I had guessed the plot and the secondary plot far to early.
Still can’t get the image of Tom Cruise out of my head when I read Jack....but the physical description compared to the reality of Tom is not an easy leap to make....conundrum …
If you love Reacher, buy this book…if ambivalent still buy it…it’s pretty good!
