Mike's life was shattered by the Sh'raithe. Mike awakened, battered, bruised, and broken, eyes slowly focused as he looked around. He was naked, in a rusting, banded iron cage. Dim light trickled through open windows in the wide, cylindrical shaft. Dust motes swam in the wane light, growing weaker as it approached Mike’s cage, barely disturbing the gloom. As Mike took in his new surroundings, he realized that he had only one thing left to live for, and that was to seek vengeance for the people that he'd lost. He didn't know how he was going to get out of this cage, but he knew, if it was the last thing he did in his life, he would kill every last one of them.
