________________________________________
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.
Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.
All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.
His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it's up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery-and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.
And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he's got to do it all alone.
Or does he?
An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could imagine it, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian -- while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

'Undisputedly the best book I've read in a very, very long time. Mark my words: Project Hail Mary is destined to become a classic.' BLAKE CROUCH
'Andy Weir's brilliant Project Hail Mary...is one of those stirring sci-fi novels about every government on Earth banding together, through science, to save civilisation from collapse. I loved it.' THE TIMES
'A suspenseful portrait of human ingenuity and resilience [that] builds to an unexpectedly moving ending. A winner.' PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
'Weir returns with gusto . . . his writing flows naturally, and his characters and dialogue crackle with energy. With this novel, he takes his place as a genuine star in the mainstream SF world.' BOOKLIST

I couldn’t put it down

Although the beginning was slow, it became increasingly engaging and held my interest until the end.

A lovely read…

Quite heavy on the science but very interesting. There’s a few laughs along the way and it’s really a bromance novel. I’ve just seen the movie and the book is far superior imo.

I love Rocky

This book seems to me to have a few flaws, a few places where you have to tell yourself to let your doubts go and just get on with the story. But it is worth it. This is an exciting and excellent read from the start to the end. It is difficult to put it down. I heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys the untangling of problems, the failures and the triumphs. Wonderful.

Loved this. Complex but a really interesting read that had me in tears at the end. ANDU Weir makes science accessible and interesting. Await the next book now.

Celebration!

A rich stew of science, humour and what it is to be Human (or Eridian). As with ‘The Martian’, the story pulls you along with the problem-solution chain with great skill. Great storytelling.

Outstanding!

I did not think I would like this as it’s not my typical read but …WOW!

First book I’ve read but won’t be the last.

It’s a gripping novel that was hard to put down and often kept me up till the early hours of the morning. It had relatable commentary and the explanations behind the science was eye opening and didn’t intimidate my rudimentary understanding from my level 3 science. I actually sobbed at the ended and wish there were more chapters to read.

It’s now my favourite book

First time ready this an Andy weir book. Probably one of the best stories I’ve ever read. The twists and turns never stopped.

Amazing book, it’ll give you excitement and inspiration, the science is presented in a way it actually makes you want to study, and every chapter gets you more invested in the mission!

One of the best scintillating books I’ve read.

It was fun, with great characters, great engaging story and loads of science, must read for all hard science fiction bookworms.

Absolutely astounding and recommended reading.

I read two other Mr Weir books and found them highly entertaining plus the film of course.
He has surpassed himself in this book. There is a lot of highly technical detail, but an absolutely gripping storyline within it, unpredictable from start to end.
It is the most interesting and intriguing novel I have read for a long time.

Fantastic

An epic story of a guy and his mission. The science keeps it interesting, the jokes keeps it funny. I have not read a better realistic-ish sci-fi novel.

Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

Very well written in a style that does not over complicate things and gives the reader the impression that the character is talking directly to you to tell his story.

100% fun but could have been better

Sci fi is at its best when it’s relevant and thought provoking — this tries to be relevant to climate change but ultimately disappoints.

Unputdownable

I cannot remember the last time I went through a book as quickly as with this one. It grabs you by the shirt and pulls you at 300 kilometres per second through the universe in an adrenaline filled ride sparkled with humour and witty remarks. Will this book change my life? Most likely not. Did I absolutely enjoy every page of it? Absolutely!

An intelligent apocalypse drama

This book is excellent. Well written, entertaining, educational and funny. It’s a refreshing take on the (impending) apocalypse scenario which doesn’t involve viruses or bloody zombies.

A story of friendship

A touching adventure.
So plausible that you actually believe.
Great science too.
This book is aching to be a movie.
I’d love to say more but can’t without a spoiler. Go read.

First Andy Weir Book

Found this rather dull. S I fi books are normally my thing but I found myself struggling to finish it. The main protagonist isn’t really interesting and is rather thinly sketched.

Awful

I loved The Martian. I also, against most other reviews, quite enjoyed Artemis. Project Hail Mary is awful, truly awful. Great opening idea. Annoying main character, absurd plot ‘twists’ if you somehow manage to not see them coming. Slow, so so slow. Then cop-out ending. The Martian stretches your imagination slightly, but it could almost work in real life. Artemis, you could wraps your head around the idea and the setting was enough to keep you interested. This is drivel, and I real let down.

Out of this world

Wow wow wow I absolutely loved this book, not my normal genre but I heard Steve Wright on radio 2 talking about it.
One of the best books I’ve ever read, lots science speak but easy digest and follow.
I didn’t want it to end !!! Can’t say about story as don’t want to give the game away

Great book, moves quickly

A few very rewarding plot twists, human characters, mad science. Only note is that there’s a little less peril than I expected (compared to The Martian).

Andy Weir does it again

Whilst this offering certainly skews more towards the fiction end of the science fiction spectrum than his previous offerings, it remains reassuringly familiar – the humour, the pop-culture references and the unapologetic love of science all scream Andy Weir from the get go.
