I have read a lot of Marian Keyes books, most of them at least twice, but this one, in my opinion, has to transcend all others. My previous favourite was "the Other Side of the Story" but "anybody Out There." Is on a different scale, completely. I read the first quarter of the book, being amused, and wondering what happened. When I found out, I just sobbed and sobbed and sobbed.....as I do whenever I reread it. I told my Mum to read it ( I can totally relate to the Walsh family) and she had the same reaction. She then suggested her husband read it, and he was worse! Completely touching. Thank you for writing it, Marian.

Great read

Heartbreaking. But hilarious. And addictive. Marian Keyes really makes you really feel for the characters; this book had me in peals of laughter one minute and weeping like a baby the next.

More Keyes Please!

Marian Keyes offers a warmth and familiarity like no other author I have read...her themes of family, loss, friendship are familiar but feel fresh. I laughed uncontrollably and cried on the turn of a page...Anna Walsh is a character who finally found her place in the world, her fit in her family's complex puzzle..this is her story her start over...I instantly fell in love with Anna a dreamer turned grown up who has a lot to face up to, and a lot of questions to find answers for! When i first read this book it was so powerful, it moved me in many ways.
I have been through similar circumstances and felt that Keyes wrote about them beautifully. I howled (and still do when I re-read this book) at the subplots involving Helen Walsh and mammy Walsh. Really moved the story along, and anyone with a big family will relate to the family politics Keyes writes about!
This is Keyes doing what she does best. Drawing you in at a pace with razor sharp wit and observations about many themes....as soon as she does that she breaks your heart by introducing tragedy, heartache, and difficult questions.
Bottom line: READ THIS BOOK! It helped me get to grips with something hugely difficult in my life (without expecting it to! ) it might not be the same for you but it's still a bloody good read!
Anybody Out There 5/5.

Brilliant- with a warning.

Gripping book- but should come with a warning to anyone who is recently bereaved. Hits a bit too close to the bone on occasion. Having said that, for the most part I seriously enjoyed it!

Okish..

Great read, but found it dragged a little in the middle, so was difficult to carry on, when it seemed i was reading the same thing over 8 chapters. However very good story line, the endng is great, worth reading.
