Description

‘“It’s like you’re the mum” Marigold wept.
It was another game she sometimes liked to play. I decided it was my best chance of getting us home.’
********
Dolphin adores Marigold, her beautiful, vibrant mother.
She’s not like the other mums.
She has vivid tattoos all over her body, bright hair and wonderful clothes.
But Dolphin’s sister, Star, feels differently.
Marigold may look amazing, but living with her fiery, unpredictable moods can be hard.
As much as the girls love Marigold, is she the right person to be looking after them?
********
Jacqueline Wilson’s classic children’s story is an optimistic, heart breaking tale about family, mental health and strong sisterly love.
For fans of Tracy Beaker, The Bed and Breakfast Star and Double Act, this is a must have book for every young reader.

Heartwarming

The Illustrated mum is a really nice book. It has sad bits like when Marigold goes to hospital, and happy bits like when Dolphin says that Marigold’s their mum, no matter what. This is certainly worth the money

So good!

This book is so good! I didn't think I would enjoy it as much in the beginning but as I started reading I couldn't stop! It's such a good book and really recommend reading it.

Life changing...

I read this several times as a child. It was very important to me then. But, reading it again as an adult presents a whole new level of understanding and emotion.
As a primary school teacher, this book puts my role into a new perspective. That child in my class that isn't listening, isn't performing, isn't concentrating... Every day I remember to think about what the underlying reasons may be. My career ambition will forever be to be a 'Mr Harrison', rather than a 'Mrs Hill' - thanks to the inspiring work of the wonderful Jacqueline Wilson.

The illustrated mum

it's amazing!!! I have read three times now and still haven't got bored. I don't really have a favourite part. Though I do quite like the part when Dolphin and Oliver (Owly) go and meet Micky, and Micky thinks that Oliver is his son!!!! :)
