Description

For readers new to The Dark Tower, The Wind Through the Keyhole is a stand-alone novel, and a wonderful introduction to the series. The Dark Tower is now a major motion picture starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba.
The No. 1 Sunday Times bestseller The Wind through the Keyhole is a perfect bridge between the fourth and fifth novels in Stephen King's epic masterpiece. A story within a story which features both the younger and older gunslinger, it is also a wonderful introduction to The Dark Tower series.
As Roland Deschain, and his ka-tet leave the Emerald city, a ferocious storm halts their progress along the Path of the Beam. While they shelter from the starkblast, Roland tells a story about his younger days, when he was sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-changer.
At the scene of the crime he had tried to comfort a terrified young boy called Bill Streeter by reciting a story from The Magic Tales of the Eld that his mother used to read to him at bedtime, 'The Wind through the Keyhole'.
'A person's never too old for stories,' he said to Bill. 'Man and boy, girl and woman, we live for them.'
And stories like these, they live for us.

Nice

A nice little addition to the dark tower series. I love the way the three tales are folded into each other. It's like being brought down into hypnosis and then brought back up.
Well done Steve o. More of the same. Battle of Jericho hill?

The Wind through the Keyhole

It's a shame that this came out of series, but a welcome return to Roland's world. Although do not expect much of a story about our enigmatic gunslinger. Focus is on the story of the title about a boy called Tim and his battle against one of the Red King's emissaries. Brilliant and reminds me so much of SK's previous child heroes in IT.
Yet again SK alludes much to tales still to be told about Mid World and touches upon Mid World-Earth connection in the story within the story. Which does live you somewhat frustrated for SK to write more. But I suppose he is only human and we must wait patiently for the next strand of the Tower to be woven intricately into his novels.
Thoroughly recommended but if you have never touched SK's gunslinger novels, now is the time to start with The Tower 1 because if you don't read The Tower series SK is just another horror writer. Save this one for reading between Tower 4 and 5.

A fan

I have followed Roland's Ka Tet through all of the series and this book is as excellent as the rest. For new readers I highly recommend to read the entire series because they are truly Kings greatest work!!

Seductive

I've been a real fan of King's work for some twenty-five years and first picked up his books when I was a teenager.
Despite that, I'd never read any of the Dark Tower books. Something just never drew me to them.
Maybe it's just because I'm older now or perhaps it's just tastes change over time but I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will start reading the whole series as a result. The book is a great tale within a tale within a tale and it drew me in completely.
Also, you don't need to have read any other Dark Tower books to enjoy this. As I said, this was my first dip in those waters.
Highly recommended. Story telling at its finest.
