Master & God
I came late to Lindsey Davis books, only becoming aware of her Didius Falco series about a year ago but I consumed them rapidly and came to know all the characters well. I enjoyed her style of writing, sometimes very humorous, sometimes tongue in cheek but always entraining.
It was with some trepidation that I started Master & God, knowing I would have to get to know another cast of characters. I became concerned during the first fifty pages or so that this was going to be a humourless book, but I need not have worried because from about that point the characters developed and the banter between them ensued.
In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and hope this will be the start of further adventures for Gauis Vinius Clodianus and Flavia Lucilla. If Lindsey reads these reviews, please can we have more. I want to know if Vinius ends up in Hispania and if they have a healthy child. Surely his life can become entangled with that of the empower to be, Trajan.
