I have been told numerous times to immerse myself into Jo Nesbo's novels and I have to say that I am really glad I finally did. The first, in what is sure to be a superb series and a firm favourite, Harry Holy adventure begins as the Norwegian detective is sent to investigate the brutal rape and murder of a young Norwegian female.
In a series of incredible and tense events, Harry is forced to question all of the circumstances that surround the brutal attack - all of which leads him into the dark and sinister underworld of Sydney.
Cleverly written and hugely engaging the Jo Nesbo series is possibly a must have for any reading collection. Next stop...Cockroaches.

Having read other Harry Hole novels, this does show itself to be the first in the series. A lot of looking backwards to establish the character.
The pace of the book suffers from the inclusion of discussions of Australian life and history, not all of which are necessary to the plot.

Harry Hole is by far the greatest to grace the pages of a crime novel. Rock on Harry.
