Description

A compelling and beautiful story about a girl who learns to live from a boy who wants to die.
Soon to be a major film starring Elle Fanning and Justice Smith.
Theodore Finch constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself, but each time something good stops him.
Violet Markey exists for the future, counting the days until she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief for her late sister.
When they meet on the ledge of a tower, what might have been their end turns into their beginning.
It's only with Violet that Finch can truly be himself - a funny guy who's able to find the joy in life.
And when Violet's with Finch, she forgets to count away the days and starts to live them.
But as Violet's world grows, Finch's begins to shrink. He's trying to cling on to all the good things in his life, but will it be enough this time?

Must read!!!

Everything about this book from the authors notes to the final word on the last page takes you on a rollercoaster. A story about two people at their lowest, finding comfort and solitude in one another. We feel the pain, the happiness, the love and the connection through these characters. PLEASE PICK THIS BOOK UP!!!!

Underwhelming

I am usually a huge fan of romance novels based around morbid subjects (The Fault in Our Stars or Before I Fall), however I was unfortunately underwhelmed by the writing style and story line of All The Bright Places. Theodore Flinch was a character that I struggled to connect with and understand due to his ever-changing and description, for example I initially depicted him as a geek however became confused page after page.
The story line was extremely slow for the first 3/4 of the book and the speed drastically increased for the remainder of the story. I believe that this should have been focused more on the hard-hitting issues that the author chose to detail, as these were too important to skim over.
The ending was ridiculous and hard to understand and I am disappointed.

This book will break you

The last book I read before this was John greens 'looking for Alaska', the only book I had read since I was about 11 and the only other book that I've ugly cried at. But this one was worse, I couldn't put it down and finished it in 2 days. I think it helps offer a valuable insight into mental illness and is by far one of the greatest novels in existence. I want to see it as a movie so much. But yeah definitely have some tissues because this book nearly killed me.

NO WORDS

I don't leave reviews often and when I do it's only for books that really deserve it. This book had a lot of mixed reviews, Some
Said that it was not happy enough or it was too morbid. Personally I think it depends on the person who reads it, on how they perceive it. I'd come
Across this book a few times but never bothered to read it or what it was about, randomly decided to read it one night and it was worth every emotion I went through! This book has easily become one of my all time favourites! Heartbreakingly beautiful and realistic in our times, not a typical cliche story at all. Finch and Violet's story is utterly fantastic and their strange way of showing each other love is like no other I've read about. This story has been compared to TFIOS but I honestly really can't see any similarities with both books. So if you have time and tissues and the right frame of mind, please pick up this book and give it a try! There's just honestly no other words for this book other than hauntingly fantastic!

Just... Read it

I'm not often someone who risks a literary purchase from a title and jacket, but I am so glad I did. Technically too old for YA but it's such a colourful space to write, why wouldn't you indulge.
This book is worth however long it takes you to read it, absorb it and hear it. Sometimes happy endings are not obvious and that's certainly delivered here. Well written, engaging and funny throughout.
So glad I found this book!

I am more than my mental illness

Jennifer Niven has actually written a book that left me feeling completely angry. Her representation of mental illness was offensive and I honestly don't think she did her research. I am more than my mental illness, which can't be said for her 2d characters.

Amazing.

This book is such a lovely read. I honestly felt very attached to the book. A great story line and I felt like the author pinned down what life and love is like as a teenager.

Good enjoyable book!

Good book. Classic predicable plot but I loved it! Liked the characters although there could of been more development of each. I DO NOT recommend it for any people who have mental health issues such as depression due to the themes and thoughts of the characters. Great read that I've enjoyed and couldn't put it down. Read twice and loved each time

Changed my life

I haven't heard or seen anything that understands my feelings as much as this book. I was devastated that it was over. Considering I'm not keen on reading, I could not put in down. I have now said how I feel and am finally getting help. Thank you! :)

Heartbreaking

I started this book because I wanted to read something different from what I'm used to. I've never been very keen on YA.
I have to say, this book is great.
It made me cry so much I can't even tell (that kind of ugly cry you don't want your housemates to see).
It's about death and being hopeful and helpless at the same time.
I'm bipolar, so this book actually touched me personally. A must read and a 5 stars that will make you reconsider your life.

You Must Read This Book

I hate reading but I was told that I had to read this book. So I reluctantly brought, and couldn't put it down. I feel so in love with the story and the characters (especially Finch) it made me laugh and at the end cry my heart out. Please, Please read this book!! I also think it raises great awareness of mental health issues. So going read it.

"Make it lovely" - Theodore Finch

This book is so quotable and relatable, enjoyable and frustrating all in one. This book makes you feel and makes you question situations in your own life. I haven't read a book like this and all I can say to me now, it is more that just a book.
