This is an introduction to the “poetry machine” first designed and taught by Jane Coil Cole of Kent Place School in Summit, NJ. The author, an English teacher for more than two decades in two independent schools, worked for Jane in the early 1990s. He designed this book as a supplementary introduction to poetry for his AP English Literature and Composition students.
