Description

Automated systems are becoming increasingly common throughout industry, with significant numbers of companies switching over from previously manual processes to those that require minimal human intervention. Although this phenomenon has been observable throughout the previous century, it has been particularly significant during the last fifty years as electronics and computing have substantially replaced many processes for which mechanics, hydraulics or pneumatic systems were previously employed.  In addition, wireless systems are becoming more widely utilized and in some circumstances essential for controlling and monitoring processes which were not previously remotely influenced. Increasing numbers of wireless applications are being employed in electronic automated systems, and it is therefore essential that mechatronic engineering professionals are aware of this and are accordingly well prepared.
