As you ride, you’ll earn Drops. Use these to upgrade your avatar’s frame and wheels while building a drool-worthy quiver of bicycles.
These bikes all have different characteristics so that you can fine-tune your bike for specific events.

Trainer and device disconnection common issue

 –
Xenus13
 –
2023-08-19
Version 1.46.0
When the app works it’s great. But I’m finding device disconnects all too common now mid workout. I have to then restart the app and reconnect everything. Wouldn’t be so bad if you could close the app and pick the work up back where you left it but no option for this. Even worse during races. My devices remain connect to my Garmin edge and forerunner and phone without any issues so Zwift is definitely the problem.

All I did was eat and be miserable.
Then I found Zwift and ‘PACK’ group rides, lost over 4 stone so far and look forward to every ride I do, no matter the difficulty.
Love all the different maps, a bit boring solo but when you join a club/group like PACK it complet changes your experience.

Initially had an Apple iwatch, which would always not sync with the Zwift app. Then moved to a Garmin and had exactly the same issue. Really disappointing given the costly monthly subscription. Zwift support is useless and has not been able to help me resolve issues

However, I’m subscribed and fully paid up and every time I ride/train etc it stops near the end and says ‘trial expired’ blah blah blah and tries to make me subscribe time and again when I already am.

What a journey, I started zwifting after nearly being hit off my bike 3 times one winter evening.
Invested in a wahoo kicker and Zwift and haven’t looked back.
Combine this with Zwift and Training Peak training plans and your onto a winner.
Spent 4 months riding structured workouts and went out and nailed my Fred Whitton challenge goal.
Great community to ride with or go on your own, explore the islands, race up the hills and sprint to the line.
Virtual racing has also been a great addition to my cycling, allowing me to compete with others my own level from the comfort of my garage

Title says it all really. Worked very well until latest update. A forced update on my phone removed the ability to pair. Once, after a full reinstall, I managed to pair again. Version 1.33.4
I’ve been using Zwift since 2017 but I’m sick of the constant issues that appear with every recent update. As the years have ticked over Zwift has become less rider focused and more of a game with gimmicks galore.
Fundamentally the physics is often broken which I have been hit with 5 weeks of crippling resistance spikes, resistance inversion and unstable metrics. When reporting issues the issues are ignored and you are patronised with “congratulations for trying so hard” “well done sending the info” then fed scripted generic lines of how it must be your fault (despite not changing anything apart from installing the latest software update). They claim to have studied your data and blame your set up and connection issues but when correcting that your connection was not what they claimed demand you send your data for them to look at. The chat is slow and convoluted which has a delay tactic feel but with no acknowledgment of reported issues which are prevalent according to social media. There are some good ride leaders but are not always convenient to ride with leaving you stuck with those who are appalling and have mastered the art of baiting/reporting riders who dare question their leading skills or lack of. I’m moving to an app that is focused on accuracy an personal improvement without the childish gamification. There’s a reason Zwift only give 25km trial before you have to buy whereas other apps offer a better and more inclusive trial of what they offer. Buy if you want to see a cartoon bear fall out tree but don’t expect your metrics to be accurate or stable.

Don’t pay your subscription with ITunes

 –
Transittunes
 –
2023-02-23
Version 1.33.3
If you pay your subscription with ITunes you will be denied access to Zwift for several hours on the day of Renewal. During that time you will get a 25km free trial then get kicked off. Obviously this isn’t ideal if you’re in the middle of an event or race but despite reporting this to Zwift on 2 separate occasions they don’t do anything except blame Apple. I really cannot understand how a company thinks it’s acceptable to deny service to customers that they have paid for every month! If Zwift doesn’t like how long Apple take to process payments don’t accept that form of payment!!

Version 1.33.3
Overall I’m enjoying the Zwift experience. However, the big drawback is the terrible connection problems with heart monitors. I have both an Apple Watch and a wahoo tickr. Both work fine elsewhere but are a total loss when it comes to Zwift. Occasionally I can connect and it then says ‘no signal’ but most of the time it’s not detecting anything at all. From the forums it seems I’m far from alone with this issue.

I use the app to connect to my Triathlon club… else i would delete it immediately. For the money, it feels like its stuck in 2010 and nobody thought about it after.
No real iPad functionality, vertical screens with bad keyboard support.
Please take the time and make it a real iPad app, please let us use full screen keyboards and for all the money it costs, invest a bit in getting it at least to 2020… Sign in with Apple, Subscriptions through apple (yes take the hit) - its not hard, just show that you put the minimum effort in.

Not adding correct data Apple health

 –
Shelby Dog
 –
2023-01-13
Version 1.32.1
Everytime I do a run/walk on the app, the app is updating apple health incorrectly. Example at 11:05 I have done 205kal, 5 mins later I have a total of 245kal. Instead of the app updating to 40 kal difference, it is added the whole 245kal on top of the 205 so on plus steps are not counting correctly. By the end of a 30 workout my treadmill reads 4Kilometers and 400 kal. But Zwift tells Apple I have only done 800 steps but over 1000 kal. This is really messing up my health data.

I’m an ex Zwifter. I received an email from Zwift last month, offering me 2 months free membership. I decided to give it a go and clicked on the link. To my astonishment, £12.99 was taken from my account via PayPal. There is no sign of 2 months free membership, just one month paid membership, auto-renewing. What a con! Not happy at all.

I want to put my iphone in my armband, strap to my arm and start my run and have Zwift record it.
Its FAR FAR FAR too COMPLICATED for the average user to setup letalone use.
Id avoid until they update or at least show users how to start a run with a BASIC SETUP:
An armband.
An iphone
A treadmill.
At this moment ive had app a week and am yet to record a single run. Not one!
I put my armband-on, put iphone into it and hit start on Nike Running App which then records everything.
This app simply will not work.
Buy sn alternative…in my honest opinion this app is not yet ready for public use

Jumped back on my trainer yesterday (Jetblack Whisper Drive Smart) and found that the resistance wasn’t changing based on the gradient anymore. I looked online and noticed the trainer wasn’t listed as compatible anymore. I went on the live chat to confirm and they said some trainers are no longer compatible due to new features. It’s not even that old. They even had the nerve to suggest I still use the app without the best feature.

It is a great way to get fit and is very enjoyable. You can also race with people of your own ability. The sweat point function is amazing giving you something to save up for, same goes for xp points. Amazing app whatever king of rider you are, pro to beginner there is something for you. Really great app although should make it a function to make your own workout on a iPhone as well as a iPad.

Version 1.23.1
I’ve been using Zwift for about 4 years now. It’s superb.
Training for a long distance triathlon in the winter with snow on the ground seemed impossible until I started on Zwift. Cycling alongside other real people, participating in group rides, the option of joining races which are really well organised and monitored to stop cheats, and a myriad of workouts means this app is literally the one stop shop for any cyclist.
It’s so good, that there’s just no need to venture out on the roads in less than great conditions - it’s not a make do, it’s a genuine substitute.
The larger the screen you have it on the better - it’s much easier to see all the stats provided to really improve training output.

Zwift is cool!

Version 1.0.61591
Following a rather nasty bike accident on the open road I decided to stick to riding a exercise bike attached to Zwift at home. This app is great. You can enjoy it on so many levels. If you want to do workouts you can, if you want the … er… thrill of social media whilst cycling you can do that as well. You can enter races or just do your own thing. It’s quite simple, the harder you pedal the faster you go, and the fitter you get. That’s it really. I have yet to see the abominable snowman, but have encountered various dinosaurs, wild boar, ibex dogs and deer on the way. It’s not real life, the Alpe D’Huez does not rise from the Mayan jungle accessed through an Italian village by way of a tropical undersea cycle path, but it’s jolly fun all the same. Love it!

Our iPad is virtually empty and WiFi installed in the garage itself is easily in range and yet it has become more frustrating over time. If the connection is lost the indication of this fact is so small it is missed easily. (an online trainer connection is more than important) the words on the screen appear as big as the clock and unless your ready for them unreadable. The application drops out with a sudden black screen then back to the iPad main screen without explanation. Forcing you into restating the whole thing from scratch. Sometime you go back to the point you were at, other times you begin all over again. Since we pay for this app I don’t feel the development team is keeping up with the basics.

Version 1.26.0
I’m only leaving a one star in hope that the developers will read this as it’s important.
I was 3/4 my way through a thought ride trying to get a badge; I went to click change camera view and sadly the app has been designed with the into the wind button RIGHT NEXT TO IT! Guess what happened while pushing hard up a climb….I hit the wrong button. Badge gone!
Let’s be honest not the best button to have right next to change view which has to be pressed multiple times to get back to the one you want.
Maybe have a think if it’s worth moving; please.

This app has been really useful for cycling through the winter and keeping fit. And for that experience 5*
However, logging in…!! Zwift blame Apple. For an app that uses Apple as a platform and the monthly fee is not cheap, that’s not a valid reason for this issue where the user struggles to login to the app. I can login through the web but for the app…!
I deleted the app & reinstalled it; updated it; changed my password (which is near impossible to do through the app); toggled airplane mode and no change to logging in on various devices. It didn’t work. When I turned off my mobile device completely and started it up again, it worked!!
This is a 0* rated experience!! And blaming the platform… that’s a poor excuse for anyone. Choose the platform. Make it work. That (& the great experience you have when you can get into the app) is what you’re paid for!
Thanks for your hard work. I hope I’ve given you enough info to work on & I hope you manage to resolve the issues…
All the best

I like Zwift, I’ve had it since 2019, but they don’t make it easy to love. The software is buggy (you’ll see lots of people complaining in chats) - for example my avatar was invisible for weeks, which makes group rides impossible. Also their support is non-existent and their accounts process is terrible. I’ve just had 2 days of no access as a result of Zwift failing to notice my usual monthly payment made via Apple; not for the first time. Support ignored me until I started tweeting. The issue eventually got fixed but with no apology or credit for the lost days I paid for. I’m going to try Fulgaz and Rouvy instead.

Great however many flaws

It would be great if it wasn’t near completely reliant on the companion app. Also the function of changing ones characters and bike or changing challenges needs to be done during a ride seems very out dated, why not make that so it doesn’t require you to have started a ride to do that. Connectivity can be frustrating and costly on races, for example heart rate watches sometimes just lose connectivity for no reason or my smart bike to loses the ability to be able to gear change. Amazing app just a few frustrating niggles.

If you don’t Zwift yet - do it!

Couldn’t have gotten through the last eighteen months without Zwift and all the new friends I have made around the world.
Started with running, as that’s my thing, but eventually invested in a bike to challenge myself with cycling, something I’d never done before.
Now love both! Healthier, fitter and happier for the whole experience. Do it!

Zwift as a company are great. Zwift as a platform is fantastic. But somehow the app is still missing a few fundamentals that take away from the whole experience. Logging in is still marred (2 years and counting) by a super annoying bug that rejects correct password credentials. The UI is also horrendous - compared to apps like TrainerRoad, it is unintuitive and basic. Zwift is close to being perfect, but still needs to sort the basics.

I’m 15, have had zwift for about a year and was cycling every other day through lockdown. I had a decent follower base and was making great progress when I tried to log on as usual but my account details weren’t recognised. I contacted zwift and finally after 2 weeks got a response saying my account was deleted and they had sent an email warning me, even though they never did. I responded asking what to do and it’s been 2 months and still no response. I’m really disappointed with the customer service. Apparently I’m not the only one with this issue and hope it will be sorted soon. Other than this it’s a fantastic app with so many ways to keep you interested and an awesome way to keep fitness up, I thought the previous customer service was good but it’s been awful recently. It’s a shame over a year of my hard work has gone down the drain.

When the weather means it’s not nice and Zwift is available then why would you even bother going outside??
Then along came ‘Lockdown’ (1, 2, 3 etc)
Group rides, discord, messages, banter are all possible with Zwift; however The Cafe stop is not a thing in Zwift (good or bad??)
So why Zwift and not TrainerRoad or FulGaz or Sufferfest?? Riding a bike as a kid was fun, it was freedom; it was an adventure...
Zwift is all those things in a Virtual environment that allows you to ride through a volcano, climb steep climbs (Alpe Du Zwift) and explore a virtual jungle; it’s a game that is more than just a game. You can enter races, (yes people cheat just like real cycling 🤪) you can challenge yourself, you can escape the ‘real world’ and for however long you wish you can be that kid with the smile riding your bike or going for a run. That’s what what your money buys you when subscribe to Zwift.
There’s a saying where I live...
Winter Miles; Summer Smiles.
Zwift can deliver those winter miles.
There’s enough going on in Zwift for it to be good value.
That’s my view.

Had so many good times running and cycling on Zwift and the many maps it offers, however if you’re looking for consistent running apps which work when you want them too, this is not for you, unfortunately I will always come back to it for my fitness at is the best option when it works, really let down again by the app, would recommend if you don’t mind paying £12 a month for something that works 80% of the time.

Expensive and clunky.

This is a poorly written app which works very badly on an iPhone (I’ve got a 12, but have also tried it on a 7) with a Wahoo Kickr. Response to button pushes on screen are between 2 and 5 seconds making it extremely frustrating. App often freezes and makes it impossible to make adjustments during the ride. Connection to a heart rate monitor on Apple Watch is intermittent at best. If this is your setup DO NOT PURCHASE this app. The only saving grace is that I only purchased a one month subscription and not an annual one. If you are thinking of using this app test it before you commit. Buyer beware.

Infuriating...

Ultimately I have to say I’m enjoying Zwift but there are a few things which are absolutely infuriating. For the purpose of this review I’ll keep it brief to one of the main bugs bears...when I’m coming to the end of a route with approx 1k to go and finishing on a flat, quite often the gradient marker disappears and Zwift never recognises that I should have finished the route and suddenly I’m back on 10% climb which is neither reflected on the gradient or map. It’s sooo annoying to go so far and then Zwift doesn’t let you complete the ride. This is an absolutely fundamental thing that needs to be fixed pronto.

I used Zwift for most of this year on and off and enjoyed the challenges and found it motivated my indoor training however I always suffered from connection problems which got gradually worse. Using a new iPad Pro and Wahoo Kikr so probably not my kit. I could never see the full connections menu and it refused to see my Wahoo cadence sensor, then one day for no reason it refused to connect to my Wahoo and no amount of disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth accessories etc helped. Tried removing and reinstalling the app several times and nothing worked. Looking at the help forum it seems I’m not the only one to have this problem using IOS.
To cut a long story short... I have cancelled my subscription to Zwift and moved to Rouvy, which connects to everything immediately and has much more engaging routes and better graphics. It’s also not perfect as it doesn’t upload to Garmin. But it works. First time. Every time and I can see all the graphics and metrics without my specs which wasn’t the case it’s Zwift where some are barely visible even with specs on.

Cool Motivation for the indoor cyclist.

Came upon Zwift accidentally when I realised that my Concept2 Ergbike and heart monitor could connect to Zwift simply by adding this App to my AppleTV. Outputting to a large TV screen provides an almost immersive experience.
Connection so far 99% reliable - no drop outs during training - a very few slight hiccups when connecting but I think that’s down to the PM5 monitor on my bike, not Zwift.
I find it great fun to use and being able to ride with people from all over the world has certainly improved my appetite for indoor cycling - after a month my fitness has improved noticeably- I’m overtaking more and being overtaken less.

Fabulous Concept - pray you don’t have problems

Inside the game environment is a great experience. The level of detail that the game goes into is truly amazing. Setting rides up with friends, joining other rides, training programs, linking back to Strava, there is just so much to go at. It got me back on my turbo trainer and loving it. It’s a five star app all the way ....except for the customer service. I had an issue with my Bluetooth connection dropping out, once mid race, which was frustrating to say the least. First response took 7 days, and was the equivalent of “have you tried switching it on and off again?”. Second response has been nearly two weeks now and nothing.

Was great, now glitchy and annoying... thinking of TrainerRoad instead

I’ve been a happy subscriber for a number of years and run with a full Wahoo setup.
Over the past six months the Zwift has become more and more glitchy particularly with Bluetooth dropouts mid training ride and also the cadence function has become completely inaccurate during training programmes.
And no it’s not batteries or interference, checked all that stuff and no issues there.
Maybe Zwift has just become too clever with too many subscribers to be a serious training tool anymore. I think it’s time to get back to basics.

Generally a good way of keeping weight down and fitness level up during lockdown but almost always get thrown out at the start of large group rides though eventually after multiple attempts it seems to let you stay in. Also more random sensor drop outs frequently on group events. As I only have a cheaper turbo trainer I am limited to 390 watts max power which means you loose out, not sure why it is limited, perhaps to encourage me spending a lot more money on a higher trainer, though I am paying the same monthly fee as others so not sure why l don’t get the same.

I’ve gone through most of Lockdown seeing people doing e-training and thinking how much easier it is to just get out on your bike outside....like a normal person should do.
However, New baby born mid-Covid has predictably smashed our days to pieces and that’s amazing. But the belly I’ve developed and accompanying dad-bod not so much.
Thought I’d see what this is all about, and as a severely time-limited person the ability to jump on my bike, fitted with Bluetooth speed and cadence sensors to a dumb trainer for 30-60 minutes and do a structured workout is excellent.
I’m a big big fan of this app - the collaboration is great, the plans and ready-made workouts are excellent and I like the structure of wattage goals too.
Give the 7 day trial a bash, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed

First of all I use an iPad with Zwift installed, I have an Ellite Supercrono Smart turbo Trainer and I use Garmin speed and cadence sensors with my CABLE (North Pole Express) as the bridge. I have used this set up for the past 3 years with very little issues. The small issues I have had, I have resolved without much effort. I have been using this App for 3 years now and I have really enjoyed using it. Even more so now the developers have added new Maps. For the past month however, I have been having issues with dropouts. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Zwift and uninstalled and reinstalled the Cable software re-pairing the sensors each time, I have turned off other devices to cut down the chances of interference, I have even installed Zwift on my Samsung Galaxy A71, HOWEVER, no matter what I do, each time I ride, I continually get multiple dropouts within the ride; 10 per 15 minutes. My speed, and cadence drops out. I have installed new batteries in the Cable, speed and cadence sensors multiple times. Why is this happening Zwift. I have now uninstalled Zwift permanently and I’ll be using something else.

Been trying to do a race series in May. A significant number of competitors over last few weeks are getting crashes, Zwift running well but then at some point in event just crashes back to desktop/home screen. Very frustrating if competing in races.
Happened to me over an hour into 2 hour ride yesterday. I was using AppleTV. I have used Zwift for 2 years and never experienced this unreliability before. So either something has gone wrong with recent updates or Zwift not coping with extra Covid demand.

New cyclist here and definitely done more miles on the turbo than the road thanks to covid (no one needs my inexperienced self crashing over a pebble on a back road...) I don’t think I could sit on a turbo for longer than 15 minutes if it wasn’t for something like Zwift. Love the group rides and the training plans. Which are of course included in the monthly price. Couple of technical glitches here and there but I think these are being captured in the updates.

Zwift has been amazing during lockdown. I was initially sceptical as loved the ‘real world’ of Sufferfest. But Zwift gives me so much more social & community interaction, which is so sadly missing at the moment. I’ve had very few tech issues using Zwift on iPad, Companion app on iPhone and connecting through a Wattbike Atom. There have been some, but name me a perfect app!!! Given the massive increase in subscribers and usage over a very short period of time, that’s brilliant. Well done Zwift!

Love this app, I’ve had it for years and tend to use it for the winter months as the trails are sloppy and the nights come in very early. I’ve been using it almost daily since the UK lockdown began. Downloaded the most recent up date yesterday. Just went to bang out a couple of miles and the app on my iPad Pro is no longer recognising my Kickr or Tickr. This has never been a problem before. Opened the Wahoo app and that is showing the signals from both of them are strong. So I downloaded the Zwift app to my iPhone 8plus to see if that’s working. Nothing there either.
Under normal circumstances I’d just go out for a ride but can’t at the moment so the app not working is a double whammy.
Normally I’d rate the app as 4.5 but for the time being it’s gonna have to be a 2.

Got myself a Tacx flow smart and a £40 wahoo arm heart rate monitor (don't use your watch it isn't accurate, especially an apple watch, waste of time) then installed zwift on my ipad2 and most importantly zwift companion and off I went, after using Tacx utility to calibrate. Has worked brilliantly from the off and I have done rides, races, TTs, FTP plus our club rides are now through the zwift companion so get an invite each week and join the ride. Definitely making me a better ridder as well as went out and did a PB on everyone of my normal climbs. Only comment was joining a book/scheduled event is not obvious and I missed the first couple until someone talked me through it. You have to start a ride in any world 5 mins before the event starts then look for the join group button in the bottom left hand corner.

Was expecting big things, but who the hell looked at the UX?
Recommended smart trainer fresh on the island from over the pond... what does a sensible person do.. calibrate..
What an awful experience! All starts okay, pedal up to 27Km or so and hold for a short period.. Drop to a speed and hold, and hold and hold.. no countdown, no interaction, no experience just turn your legs maintaining a speed after 30 minutes, cancel f’k knows how much longer this piece of crap wants me to keep going like a hamster... Hit cancel, jump straight into some random short workout with no warning or choice and no idea of my trainers calibration status FFS... then you ride a 12 minute piece of s’t flat road with no climbs or descents to understand if the smart trainer and the SW is working in unison....
Conclusion - that kind of experience will quite simply put first timers off!

The app is great and takes outside cycling indoors. With plenty of other users online from different time zones there are regular (round the clock as far as I can see) races and group rides. The scenery is well done and so is the variety. But please, subscription isn’t cheap so surely you can work out how to connect the heart rate monitor on an Apple Watch more easily than the complicated instructions on your website. Come on! Please!!

It’s hard times for everyone worldwide during the COVID-19 lockdown and we need every bit of positive support we can get. The benefits of exercise have been proven again and again both physically and mentally so we need to try and stay active whenever possible.
Turbo training used to be a boring slog but tools such as Zwift change this. You really get involved in the whole Zwift world be it a gentle spin through the desert or a ride round the sites of London. Then if your competitive side comes out you can test yourself on more challenging routes and climbs then even join races and really test your form.
This is a great tool especially in times like these, it brings the outdoors indoors.
Take care of yourselves and stay safe.

Health data sync is a bit wonky. During rides the app seems to sync distance + calories every 10 mins or so but it’s adding total ride value each time not the distance ridden or calories burned just in that period.
So at the end of the ride you end up with silly numbers in Health (e.g. 3000 kcal instead of say 600 kcal) and you have to manually delete each entry bar the last which quickly gets annoying. Please can this be fixed?

Disappointing. Hopefully issues will resolve.

I was really looking forward to Zwift. Recommended by friends I bought a smart trainer. However, I am pretty disappointed for the following reasons: (1) the program is unstable and crashes occasionally on my iPad Pro; (2) it seems to be impossible to link with my Apple Watch as a heart monitor with my iPad. (3) when I use my iPhone (an XS max) it crashes and exits every time I start a ride. (4) the graphics are OK but nothing to write home about. A bit like a 16 bit computer game or PlayStation 1. Frankly it's poor given the eye watering cost.
Supplemental update: this problem has not been resolved. I ran the latest update. My phone detects Zwift but there IS NO WAY TO USE YOUR APPLE WATCH WITH AN iPAD. This is an appalling glitchy piece of software.

Prior to zwift I had a dumb trainer and my longest workout was around 45 mins, then boredom would set in and I would give up. I’ve been on zwift a month after not riding for years and managed a two hour session.
Having other riders pushes you on whether you race, do group rides or just explore the various tracks.
If you have a standard turbo you can buy a cadence and wheel speed sensor for around £50 and give it a go.

I’ve been using Zwift on PC and Mac for about 3 years now, mostly in the late Autumn to early Spring months, but gave up when there were just too many riders it was ridiculous. Now we always have the choice of two worlds I’m happy again and using it regularly. The only advantage to PC/Mac over iPad was the worlds hack, and now thats no longer needed I just use my 12.9” iPad, which is tremendous for Zwift because of the touch screen for interactivity with the app - and the excellent graphics. I’ve never really liked indoor training and rarely did much more than an hour before Zwift, but now I train harder and longer over the winter months.

Looking at some of the reviews you would think this software barely works! I ride on Zwift regularly throughout the year (been using it for around 2 1/2 years) and it’s rare to have a problem. Some of the issues I’ve had in the past were related to my flakey internet connection. As some of the other reviews have said - it’s a game changer and it’s taken indoor training from something that was dull and tedious that only the most dedicated cyclists would stick with, to something enjoyable with plenty of options. Whether you want to race, climb, group ride or whatever - you decide.

With Zwift I’m training harder than I thought I could and that’s being transferred to my road riding. I’ve always had turbo trainers and always trained as hard as I thought I could, then along comes Zwift with other cyclists to ride with or compete against and I’m pushing much harder. The app isn’t as intuitive as it could be, but I’ll forgive it that. If you can stretch to an interactive turbo trainer it makes a big difference.

However, after the first month of using Zwift I got my monthly internet bill and it was 5 times more than what I’d usually pay. Used it mostly for running on the treadmill. It definitely makes running more interesting however I cancelled my subscription because:
1) takes too long to go the process of setting up a run (should be a quick start option)
2) too many times after completing a run I get a message when I log back in that my last run was not saved. Always asked ‘do you want to save now’ and after saying yes it always responds (after mins of waiting) that ‘oops something went wrong’. Annoying!
3) speed accuracy fine for a few minutes after synchronising but then varies by up to 0.8 mph (shows you running slower)
4) courses get boring after a while..... appreciate most are made for cyclist who will get to see more of the course in 40 mins than a runner but most start in the same location and so you only get to see the same stretch of road
5) value for money..... it’s quite expensive per month and other (free / cheaper apps) can do some or most of the same things
I will come back in a few months to see if things have improved. It was great until the novelty wore off... I also have 11 years of run history on Nike+ and so will stick with that for the time being.

Suddenly indoor cycling is worth it.

I use Zwift on iPad Mini 2 and the companion app on iPhone 6S connected to a Tacx Bushido Smart trainer and a Wahoo Tickr HRM and I can honestly say the experience is flawless.
Heart rate, power, cadence and [virtual] speed are all measured and the trainer adjusts the resistance to match the terrain/course. The workouts and training plans are superb and have made a big impact on the speed of my development (and recovery times), helping me know how far I can push when riding out on the real roads.
The gamification is just enough to incentivise training that bit harder for longer and it really pays off, and the Strava uploads and live segments are great.

Riding with others, whether cooperatively or competitively, is the key, motivating factor. You will ride more, you will push harder and even have more “fun” because others are there doing it with you or against you. Variety of terrain, workouts, group rides and group workouts, races and all the eye candy is the icing on the cake but doing it all with others will keep you coming back for more. Technically it’s worked for me 99% of the time on various hardware, give the free trial a bash if you want reassurance. Costs - way less than a round of drinks per month and it saves me way more than that by continuing to be an appealing alternative!
Just to add, this review is based on using PC, iPad and iPhone versions with a power meter and basic “dumb” trainer. I have also used the very basic speed sensor setup (virtual or “Z Power”) for a short time, which worked absolutely fine, but is likely to significantly exaggerate your performance (in my case, verified with subsequent power meter comparison, around +7-10%).

I can’t believe some people would wear a foot pod and expect to get a heart rate reading from it and then blame Zwift for it -OR - have an outdated iPad and blame Zwift for it - OR - use up the first free 25km on a ride and then blame Zwift on it. If you can’t be bothered to read the instructions or are just too plain lazy to do some research before giving something a bad review then it does go to show the mentality behind the negative comments.

Having set up an account for each of us on the only compatible apple product we own and each of us having had our 7 day trial I now find as I go to add each of our subscriptions that you can not add multiple subscriptions on one iTunes account!
Looks like each person has to log into their own iTunes account and then log into zwift what a headache! Rapidly going off the idea!

I’ve also had many other similar types of training set ups but come back to zwift every time, the training is great, group rides and events are a fantastic way to get thru the winter months, the only thing ( which is easy to resolve) is the daft background music. Great concept and it will eventually work brilliantly. At the moment the seven day trial doesn’t work. You ride 25km on your first attempt and when you try to do another ride the app simply doesn’t allow it. Very frustrating. When you contact the customer support they do reply quickly but have never quite grasped my issue. Again quite frustrating.
When you are being asked to pay as much as you do per month you definitely expect a better quality app and service.
Similar concepts on play station games, where you join an online platform sees consumers pay a one off game fee without ongoing subscription so I’m a little unclear why the cost is so high per month? I presume they need the cash to develop the platform further.
Ultimately it’s going to be incredible and I will get involved - I might even be prepared to pay the fee each month despite no agreeing with the cost - it is that good! However when you see all the issues that they have had, my recent issues too then I will leave it a while until it’s completely fixed.

Free ride in the mountains, test your sprint or just ride (you always find somebody to push you too). Then there are the workouts when you need to build on those weaknesses. The product is mature, stable and makes all other forms of training for casual and sport cyclists pretty much redundant. Be warned though, although any trainer with just speed sensor is needed, the full experience of 14% gradients, road feel and an utterly convincing jaunt through the rolling country of the Watopia hilly route, are best achieved with a very expensive Tacx Neo trainer. Next comes the dedicated pain cave. Zwift will cost you, not just for the subscription.
