Join Alto and his friends and set off on an endless sandboarding journey to discover its secrets.
Soar above windswept dunes, traverse thrilling canyons, and explore long-hidden temples in a fantastical place far from home.
Along the way, you’ll grind across vines, bounce atop hot air balloons, ride towering rock walls, and escape mischievous lemurs – all while uncovering the desert’s many mysteries.
Features:
• A standalone experience. Alto’s Odyssey is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Alto’s Adventure, but you don’t need to have played one to enjoy the other.
• Easy to learn, difficult to master. At the heart of the Alto series is an elegant one-touch trick system. Chain together combos, and complete 180 goals — all with intuitive controls.
• Explore Biomes. From the dunes, to the canyons, to the temples, explore a rich and diverse landscape, with each area boasting unique visuals and gameplay.
• Newfound heights. Discover secrets in the sky with hot-air balloons, moving grind rails, and wall riding.
• Master the elements. In addition to dynamic lighting and weather effects like sandstorms and shooting stars, the desert is home to swirling wind vortexes and rushing water.
• Meet Alto and friends. Unlock six unique characters, each with their own attributes and abilities.
• Zen Mode. Complete with its own serene soundtrack, this relaxing mode distills Odyssey down to its purest elements: no scores, no coins, and no power-ups. Just you and the endless desert.
• Photo Mode. From the pause screen, get behind the lens and take stunning photos of your trip through the desert. Pinch, swipe, pan and zoom to frame the ideal shot, and share them with friends and family.
• Original music and handcrafted audio. Headphones recommended!
• Universal app with iCloud support. Play on your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and your progress will always be in sync.
Alto’s Odyssey is a premium game with no ads or in-app purchases. Purchase once, play forever.

Version 1.0.6
In some ways it’s better than the first, but in others it’s deeply flawed. Some challenges, randomly, take weeks to achieve. ‘Grind three ruins in a single run?’ Sure, ok. But 15km later, and I’ve seen one. Ten runs later, and I’ve seen a cumulative total of three. ‘Backflip off a rope bridge’? Fine, but the only rope bridge I’ve seen in the last dozen runs didn’t let me do that. It goes on. After level 20, some of them are downright impossible, because of the procedurally generated nature of it. Also, some of the characters can’t build the speed necessary to clear certain gaps, making chasing certain objectives even more frustrating. I probably put a thousand runs into Adventure, but I’m bored of this.

Excellent sequel let down by bugs...

The additions to the gameplay and characters are great and is a worth sequel to the first game.
However, there are a few bugs which aren’t present in the first game, e.g. character falling through ground, or the lemur walking through the air when flying, or tap to jump not working sometimes, which take the edge off an otherwise excellent game.

I love the game and i love the atmosphere it creates. Sometimes, i feel like i am really there,.just a wee point..how does one do a 1000k in the wingsuit? I have been trying for such a long time and even though it seems as if i have, it never seems to be achieved. Any tips please? Would be appreciated. Thankyou

I can’t help but feel slightly ripped off here as it appears to be almost identical to the original only it’s twice the price.
Devs, please can you move the pause button, like the last game it’s in the wrong place, surly I’m not the only one that is always pressing pause button in a vital point in the game.
For me, despite this being very similar to the original this is still a slick well polished game. Keep up the good work 😉

I really love this game as much or even a bit more than the previous one.
The only gripe I have is that it’s not supported on the iPad 4th generation! It seems to be supported on practically every other generation apart from the one I have. Very annoying.
Please sort this with the next update.

Version 1.0.5
When a game is this beautiful, you really hope the internal gameplay design is going to be just as good. Sadly, that’s not the case. At various points it just seems as if the game is designed to make the player frustrated - and to make them fail.
Lemurs? Escaping them is purely dependent on where you meet them. If the landscape doesn’t allow for many tricks, you’re dead. The smutty ‘don’t anger the wildlife’ message you get after is even more infuriating.
Various chasm jumps are simply unattainable, and being told to ‘do tricks to build speed’ every time is once again infuriating if you aren’t given the opportunity to build that speed.
The challenges are also made impossible to attain at many points. If your challenge involves a wall ride, you might not find a wall in the next 50 miles. A new level should also activate while you are still riding, not require you to crash and start over - boring.
And even some rocks are impossible to avoid. If a previous trick lands you right behind a high rock, you’ll just crash.
Put some more money into the gameplay, and this could be fantastic. Right now, it’s a frustrating addiction that makes me want to throw my phone in the bin.

Recomend this game!

Version 1.0.4
Being a sequel and considering the price, I would have thought there would much more in terms of content. More things to unlock, more play styles, different options etc. It's almost like the first game but with a few tweaks and a different backdrop and skin. Can't imagine much effort went to this. Quite a few infuriating moments too. Slow mo coming in at bad times, randomisation of the tracks can more often than not provide you with very unfortunate runs to an end or for annoying reasons that feel out of your control. You may be having a great run, then all of a sudden the track decides to flatten out for ages with no option to pick up speed, then the lemur catches up to you, finishing your game.
I would suggest - a few extra bonus upgrades. A boost power up that can be used when you want, like the wingsuit. Rocks maybe a lighter colour as they can be hard to spot especially when the foreground and background all blend into one. This feels like Altos Adventure 1.5 more than a sequel. Developers- Up your game please. DELETED

Version 1.0.4
Tldr it's a good game but get Alto's adventure first. This game has a few annoying things that I've described below.
I loved Alto's adventure. It had a really chill vibe and you could play for ages.
Alto's odessy expands on that, and has some cool extra features but some draw backs.
The extra features like wall riding and balloons are cool but they add this element of uncertainty. I can't always tell when I'm going to bounce on a balloon or come off a wall and slam into the floor.
Also, adding these to chasms makes me die in ways out of my control much more often. I'll over shoot a balloon and the tip will read 'do tricks to gain more speed' but a lack of speed isn't the issue. Timing the jump when I don't know what I'm jumping over is the issue.
Also, the visuals are lovely, but often the rocks and sky are very similar colour. To make things worse you have objects just slightly in the background like plants and larger rocks and then suddenly objects at the platform level which I'll trip over and they blur into one a bit too easily.
Alto's adventure was a chill relaxing game and I never felt I died underservedly, but this game might just annoy me and send me back to the old game, but I guess I've paid now so who would mind.

A massive improvement from the last game

Alto’s Adventure has always been one of my favourite mobile games, and this manages to build upon and improve it even more than I had expected. Gliding through the worlds is a great way to spend time, and while I kind of wish there were more of them I love the fact that this game can be played with out ever really trying to achieve something and still have fun. Most of the objectives can be completed with out trying, which makes it oddly relaxing next to most, but there’s still a sense of progression. The new wall ride and water mechanics are amazing and very satisfying to pull off successfully.

Version 1.0.4
I have been playing constantly since the release and have noticed the following. There can be an issue with the dark levels and shading, making it difficult to differentiate between plants and rocks etc. And the big thing is I miss the snow! I was hoping that you would move from sand levels to snow but it is all set in sand. Doesn’t quite give me the feeling of the first game***
*** update- sorry, but changing from the snow setting is such a big mistake that I have returned to the original. Yes it’s a good game but by far the biggest part of this game is the ambience and it is nowhere near as good in this aspect as the original. I originally gave this 5 stars and I have purposely left my original review above. This is now 3 stars for the gameplay etc. ***

But the performance on an iPad Air is hiccup-ey. Lots of very obvious stutters and the frame rate isn’t staying consistent ☹️

Version 1.0.3
Nice game play, with some additions to the Adventure game. Enjoyable going through the levels but when you get to 40 plus just gets boring trying to achieve a ridiculous objective. Not enough time in the day to waste to play for 25000 metres or so time and time again with very little opportunity to complete the task. Once you get to level 40 or so you’ll end up stopping playing and probably deleting it.

I played altos adventure, odyssey surpasses this in many ways, but the developers have let the game down as some jumps which are definitely achievable alto dies and also in certain parts of the game where you should get the wing suit back like a 9 x’s combo you don’t, but apart from these minor glitches the game is as addictive as the 1st.

Version 1.0.3
It’s a shame to have to drop a star on this but following on from perhaps the best mobile game of all time was always going to be a tough gig.
There is much to love here, as with Alto’s Adventure: a rich, immersive environments, addictive and yet soothing gameplay, stunning and beautifully crafted visuals, weather changes, clever one button operation, calming ambient music, a well judged progression system, an absence of micro transactions.
Odyssey adds a whole lot more too: a wider range of environments, new gameplay mechanics, more ways to get airborne and rack up big trick scores, animal friends who keep you company (the birds if paradise are one of my favourite features).
Usually, all this would have earned 5 stars. But in light of Altos Adventure, and my expectations after such a long wait, I can’t shake a slight feeling of disappointment, and here’s why:
- for the first 20 levels or so, the discovery of new gameplay is exhilarating - new biomes, new equipment and so on. But around this point I began to experience a light sinking feeling that I had discovered all the biomes, and there were no new gameplay features or mechanics to discover. After that it’s down to grinding through the 180 goals, some of which are extremely frustrating to achieve. Once I got to this point, the sense of fun and adventure dropped off considerably.
- the game has the same characters, except for Samara, the last one to be earned.
- there is little replay value once all 60 levels have been completed. The only reward for doing this is two lines of text saying well done. Why not introduce some new bonus gameplay or map as a reward? What an anticlimax. This is a real missed opportunity. There is nothing left to play for except trying to get further and achieve higher scores.
- there were so many other ways to build on Altos Adventure without making a radically new game. Why not have little secret underground caverns or something which can be found or earned. What about having more animals who journey with you. Apparently there is some sophisticated butterfly behaviour depending on the time of day, but this is far too subtle to notice when you’re focusing on not crashing.
I love this game but I wanted to love it more and I wish the developers had been bit more brave with their tried and tested formula. I played Altos Adventure through twice all the way, but I can’t see me doing that here. Now that I’ve finished it, I’ll pick it up from time to time and enjoy it again but having completed it I’m looking for new worlds to conquer.

This is definitely my favourite game on the AppStore but there’s just two small criticisms I have: the sound of the thunder is a little unrealistic and sounds not much like thunder. Version 1.0.3
I loved Alto’s Adventure. I played through every level collecting every character, and still played a little beyond when I’d achieved all the objectives. The only gripe I had was that often deaths occurred when you sent your character flying off a ledge, pulled off multiple backflips, sensed it was time to land, and... oh, there’s no ground, only a chasm.
In Alto’s Odyssey, I’ve experienced fewer unlucky deaths, but a slight increase in unskillful deaths, which makes it much more satisfying to play. The objectives to gain characters are all still here, as are the chases (now with lemurs rather than elders), and there’s some new gameplay thanks to added features such as wall riding, streams/pools and the mysterious radio to summon extra items to parachute from the sky. There is much more variety to the scenery and it’s more beautiful than ever.
I read a few other reviews before buying that criticised the game due to difficulty in boarding through sandstorms or night - but whilst this is harder than when it’s sunny and daytime, I never felt that I couldn’t see things to control them - it gives it variety, and the game doesn’t throw this at you too often anyway.
Having played the sequel, I can’t see myself going back and playing the first version again. I suppose this is the best recommendation I can give it - I love it, it’s money well spent, and in my mind at least it’s an all around improvement :)

Version 1.0.3
There was a sense in Adventure that you could structure the run and choose the rider to complete a challenge. Here the challenges seem to rely on a load of luck and hitting particular scenery sequences just right. The double back flip off a grind for example relies on the very few grinds before a decent drop. I counted three during 15k run or hitting a rock on landing and getting the flip add-on. So a bit lacking in actual / perceived skill. Rest is cool but challenges need refining.

Version 1.0.2
1. All backflips seem slower than on adventure. In particular maya is not as OP as in adventure. Also Izel seems a bit bland compared to adventure too. Tighter and faster flips would just make the game more fun.
2. Wall riding seems broken. More about luck than skill in terms of how you mount. Hitting it with a bit of bad luck can end a good run for no apparent reason.
3. Lemurs can be a bit broken too. Again can be about luck and not skill in terms of what you get in front of you in the path. I wish the chases were longer too - in general a weaker experience than in adventure elder chases.
4. Most goals are luck based and not skilled based. Point in case is l49 2x rock bounce to wall grind. But numerous if not countless other goals are mostly achieved by accident rather than skill. Not as immersive or rewarding as adventure.
5. Can be too dark in places. Do not like.
6. Needs expanding. More unlocks and new characters that are not in adventure maybe? Also would love a faster game mode where you literally just run by default at a faster speed. Or maybe a bird of paradise log book and you unlock birds by doing different things at different biomes.
Not sure which of these changes are fixed by today’s update.

I usually dont write reviews however for this game it is definitely an exception. What i don’t understand is the amount of bad reviews for this game- what heartless person would even consider to leave a bad review of this game, it is absolutely jaw dropping. At first i was thinking that it may not be as good as the first app however once you begin to get into the game you realise how much more it has to offer than the original game. It is, secondly, staggering beautiful. you can certainly see the amount of effort and time the devs have put in the game. I encourage anyone to purchase this incredible app and not to listen to the other bad reviews. Fantastic job developers!

I moaned a bit about this game when I first played it, as it does feel like it should’ve dropped as an add-on to Alto’s Adventure.. it’s practically identical.. but then; that’s surely the point.
It’s when you start to realise that all the art, all the animations, all the music is brand new you come to the realisation that for a piece of entertainment that will occupy me for countless hours, give me precious ‘chill time’ and help long journeys through; why bemoan the cost of a pint of beer?
It’s thoroughly worth the money. Beautiful. Relaxing. Moreish. And crucially the same as Alto’s Adventure but wonderfully different. Good on you devs; you deserve a beer!

This, along with the older Alto’s Adventure, are my favourite games in the App Store. Easy to learn but difficult to master; they are the perfect gaming combination of being both challenging and exhilarating. The fact that they’re also beautiful to look at is a bonus. Version 1.0.1
I love the new colours and scenery and all the new functionality, it really is addictive!
However, I’d like to know why there aren’t any points for breaking a fire or for jumping on a fire - in Alto’s Adventure (AA) you’d get 100 points for smashing a fire and 200 points (I think) for a ‘fire stomp’ but this game doesn’t seem to have it.
Also there’s something bothering me about the way the multiple flips are scored - there’s now a much bigger likelihood of someone doing a combo with more than a quadruple flip with the hot air balloons being situated so close, so I think that should be rewarded! Because I get quadruple backflip, then just a series of backflips after that which only add 10 points and increments the multiplier per backflip, rather than the difference between adding 60 points and incrementing the multiplier for the double backflip!
So I think there should be better scoring for backflips that are continued after a quadruple flip!
Also the longer you skim a stream, it makes the temporary points counter overlap the total points which isn’t pretty - the temporary points counter/combo counter should disappear before it rises up and overlaps the total points. I think the stream skimming shouldn’t use the same animation as the ice slide in AA but be more aligned with the grinds.
Also, another design point, the total number of points in the current combo (as well as the summation line directly above it) are the opposite colour to the rest of the combo being accumulated - which makes no sense as I assume the font colour for the combo descriptions being accumulated is based on the colours of the background and adapting to be more readable? So if the total number is the opposite colour, then we can’t read it as well.
Also found another bug where the current goals don’t update their font colour to match the background colour when you pause the game - I usually pause the game to remind myself of what goals I need to do - but I can’t read them because the font colour is too dark compared to the background if it’s nighttime or sandstorm!
I think these changes are really technical, so it doesn’t really impact on how much I’m enjoying this game! I do love it, just noticed a few things that have been kind of bugging me whilst playing! Hope the feedback helps!

Good, but too similar to the original.

As the title states really. Odyssey is a cracking game, but the build up, hype and subsequent similarities between this and the original are a slight let down. Nonetheless, I’ve played this a lot already and it has superb production qualities. Good game...just don’t expect it to give you much more than Alto’s Adventure.
