Well I’ve been on here now for maybe 3 years. That alone merits the title. There are plenty of cons, but to enjoy more you need to choose your alliance well, it may take a few times to get there but when you do you’ll know you’ve landed.

I can’t imagine there being many games out there that can give you inclusiveness into a group of other online users that this game can allow you to experience. You build, you fight, you learn, you gather and you always get the chance for small rewards which as in life is very important. It does take a while to get to a very competent level of castle and be confident in battle to overpower enemies, of course there are always bigger castles, but this is where the collective can overpower even those.

Yes it’s quite annoying that you can spend your way up the ladder quickly, not to mention expensive, but if you experience it more and learn on the job, money isn’t the be all to get to the top. There’s always no and innovative means by which the developers keep you engaged not only personally but as an alliance, and I think this is where this game stands out.

You won’t regret starting out playing GOG.

As a advertised free to play game this game is far from that, to remain relevant in any kingdom you will need to purchase items, this is a slippery slope that people will need to negotiate, with massively increasing stats the gap between the non spenders and spenders is getting astronomical, I do enjoy this game but it’s a bottomless Pitt of needing to spend. There are those who say it’s your choice to spend your hard earned money but to progress there is little choice wether that be to increase castle level or plainly increase anything it will be hard not too. GOG care little to slow down the rate of new items being released and care even less if you raise these problems, they employ MOD’s to assist that actually don’t do anything to help apart from the generic answers you always get. All in all if you are looking for a game where you are happy being a bystander and let people who spend decide the fate of your kingdom/gameplay then this is for you, but if you want to be of any relevance set yourself a budget of around £300- £1000 a month as that is what you will need.

Looking at the images used to promote this game to players, you’d think it’s some kinda battle ship game involving pirates and naval battles… which is so far from the truth.

At its core, you play the role of a musketeer, using resources to build your castle to fight against other players’ castles & spending real money to upgrade your battle stats. Don’t get me wrong, you can upgrade stats for “free”, but you’ll never actually be able to compete with anyone.

The game is infested with micro transactions, pay to win elements and gambling mechanics, which I’m sure violates Apples TOS but nothing ever happens.

As someone that had played GOG since the beginning, I would recommend new players avoid it.

I guess the answer to how I feel about this game is in part in the title. You can never get bored as there are so many aspects to this game, from building up resources to upgrade buildings, train troops, build up your stats. It is a hive of industry!

There are different games introduced which I like, a nice distraction.

I have been playing this game for 4 years now. I continue because of the people I have met and friends I have made along the way. The game itself is ok until you get to the main events where you can expect bugs and crashes galore. The recent UCS event was so unstable at key points that everyone crashed and was unable to log back in. People used paid for items during these times and have been refused refunds or compensation for those items that ended up being wasted. Also the developers greed has no limits. New equipment updates are constantly being pushed out. Prices for upgrading go ever higher with each new tier. This constant greed and accelerating upgrade cycle is quickly killing what once was a solid game. If you enjoy free to play then go for this game but don’t expect to be competitive. Only big spenders can be competitive here. They will be happy to take your money and give you zero support when they mess up.

I’ve played since Dec 2017 but the last 6months I stopped spending. I came to the realisation like many others that the money pit is never ending and developers DO NOT value customers or their feedback in the slightest. Customer service does not come in to it at all. some players spend $100k’s +++ and their voices are still not heard. Spend $2k a month and you can just about hang on in there as a mid/low level player, less that that and you are simple prey for others.

It’s a good game and when you know how, can progress far without spending any money. The big spenders will always have an advantage though, as usual with these games.

Unless you are going to spend lots of money don’t play this game. The look and feel of the game in very good as it the basic idea. However, the support team and developers are not very helpful. A new feature is added weekly which totally devalues the level you reached before. Certain upgrades are buy only so it is impossible for the casual player to progress, even slowly. I can’t prove it but I’m fairly certain there are developers who are set up as fully loaded players to press normal players into sales. So if you can avoid this game stay well away.

Thanks for your response but it’s completely untrue. Every upgrade in the game must be purchased initially then it is offered pseudo free when it has been superseded. Ensure the every item without exception can be obtained overtime. I would like to strongly discourage players choosing this game that genuinely doesn’t have any real interest in the consumers.

Don’t be afraid to change Alliances or even Kingdoms if you don’t feel happy where you are. Thousands of complaints have been made and all they say is this is to help lower players. Events in past of you spent you got something they said would never be available again and will help you win. This has now gone and makes my purchases useless. I don’t gamble and the game now includes a lot of gambling.

I love this game, it’s kept me occupied for 6 months, which considering I’m not a gamer speaks for it’s addictive quality. I’ve played in events, developed my castle and even made friends.

Sadly, I can’t recommend it. The game is let down horribly by the regular glitches, which have been a source of amusement at times; the fairly frequent packages of apology from the developers for their latest calamity have often been quite welcome.

Unfortunately though, I’m not currently able to receive them. My lovingly developed castle is beyond reach, having defaulted out of existence with the most recent update. I have been playing a most frustrating waiting game for over a week now, reporting and following the instructions of the woefully misnamed customer ‘services’, (‘no services’ would be more appropriate, only to receive radio silence now for days. In that time, I have lost real money (I’d paid for a challenge) and all my troops, along with many many events. Really fed up now and quite annoyed. Avoid this game until they fix it!

First of all the game advertised is misleading. It is the usual build up your area / town..

The game takes a lot of time and money if you are to improve to a point you don’t get that money you’ve invested stolen from other players . Yes you buy coins with real money . Then massively higher gamers will come along destroy your hard work and steal your collections. If you want to build your ‘castle’ you then have to get more resources. You can go and try and do the same to other people steal there money . I would prefer not to do that however so it takes time amassing enough to upgrade. I wouldn’t start a new game on this you will be disappointed as the highest castle equipped players will just steal all your stuff. Time and again until you give up . Until the developers acknowledge that fact then I won’t be playing. Selling resources at ridiculous prices , then those resources can be stolen from other players is just crazy. Put a stop to players stealing your hard earned resources then I will play again . Until then save your time and money.

To be competitive in this you have to be prepared to spend at least €50 per month minimum. Drop rates are low and random on items you need to be able to participate in any meaningful way. Growth is slow without buying extras. It is an arms race which is all about the stats you have. Skill is minimal. It is a good game but start knowing that you have to spend a significant amount of real money and if you stop everyone else will move on quickly leaving you unable to complete. That is why I’m only giving 1 star. Also note you have to play constantly. If you stop for a period you will lose all your troops which will take weeks and a lot of money to rebuild.

I will say I really enjoy playing this game however some minor things have started to go wrong the latest been the vampire event for the new gear, our alliance is mixed between big spenders and low spenders and the new event seemed to cater for both sets of players, good rewards for all levels then all of a sudden the rewards change half way through the day and as I collected them early I’ve lost out massively messaged support but still no reply, GOG is a very good game and you meet some great people but the developers really need to sort themselves out because it’s not fair to change everything without warning

I have played in Kingdom 404 for several months, the game was fun but requires big money to play as you develop.

However, don’t play this game! It has become a joke. This kingdom I play has a rogue Korean cheating hacker playing and destroying everything the game has to offer, the developers allow it so this suggests it’s an inside job to create havoc and encourage spending to beat the hacker which can never happen really can it? The rogue can attack whilst shielded but stay protected, can also avoid the consequences of strategy moves and shields to protect even though normal players cannot do this under certain strategies.

The rogue attacks small players who just end up quitting sooner or later. Stay well clear and you’d thank me! Find a genuine game to play.

The new raid stage makes this game a waste of time, play something else!

I have play GOG for at least 6months and enjoyed it. Like all these games its really based on you purchasing add-on’s to become more powerful. yes you can gain power by playing but the addition of the upgraded Raid stage means unless you are the most powerful that stage is just a waste of time.

You get raided while you sleep and lose all your troops and Power of lord drops massively. Then the rest of the 2 day stage is spent trying to recover, but that is impossible because someone who spend £££ on add on raids the secondary you try!

Following this you spend the next period gaining the same power levels until the next Raid stage....then the cycle begins again!

If you played this before and enjoyed it, remember that time! The updated game is Rubbish!

Can be really immersive if you want to spend your real money keeping up with others that get really powerful by spending theirs.

These people then go around attacking others and killing your troops and stealing your resources unless you have shields that last for 24-36 hours. These can be available in the game without spending your own money but invariably there is pressure to spend spend spend. That bit is somewhat demoralising.

If you get into a strong alliance (like I have) life is easier but it can be slow building up your resources.

I’ve met some nice people online but there are some real twits who can be quite bullying.

Support service is patchy at best, trite copy/paste replies from volunteer game moderators. Technical or payment issues take a ridiculous amount of time to resolve if you are lucky to get a satisfactory response or resolution offered.

The game is squarely pay to win, if you are not willing to pay, you will fall behind and get torn apart by the bigger players that exist in every kingdom. If you are a coiner, beware, the game is set up to take your money and make your investment obsolete in a very short time requiring you to pay again to keep ahead. Long term players spend many thousands to keep up.

Aside from the above, the game has good depth, with many facets to keep you occupied. You will need to log on frequently to progress or just stay alive! Vacations will need you to spend a long time to rebuild! A near direct copy of Kings of Avalon (airships not dragons).

I have been playing this game for a while now. Firstly they do not monitor language and racism on the game. Quite inappropriate language and bullism happens as a conseguence.

Translator doesn’t work very well on top of the above. Creating additional problems.

The game itself would be a good idea. However there is clearly an advantage for people in certain countries. Growing and playing more expensive for example in Europe. Do not start if you can.

Result is playing almost impossible when the advantage of other players is so obvious and the gap huge.

Second but not last there are many issues with the game itself (bugs, freeze and glitches) especially during top events. Support almost none existing and biased. If they answer they are rude and unhelpful. And will hide at any cost their fault by procrastinating to death.

They have for example removed conveniently and option that allowed players to monitor their usage of ingame coins.

Becoming a ridicolous scam. Stay away. Really disappointed of the King group.

Having played this game for a lot of months I would like to say one downside of it is that a castle level 10 can be attacked by a level 50 castle which I think is using a sledgehammer to crack a nut . In a lot of other games I played they put a limit on the level you can attack , like either 10 levels above or below so a castle level 30 can only hit castles from level 20 to level 40 . I am frustrated at loosing all my reserves and troops in my level 16 castle every few weeks and it takes ages to get enough reserves to upgrade without a bully level 35 castle taking then . Just my thoughts . Johnny

One of the most addictive and absorbing games I’ve played. It’s geared towards you joining an alliance and working together with other players, so you end up logging on to chat to your fellows more than anything. You don’t have to spend to play if you don’t want. You can spend an hour fiddling with things before you run out of things to do for a while. The 24 hour events can take over your day though and are really fun. Our kingdom developed politics and pacts between alliances. I ended up in a tense peace negotiation in Spanish one night LOL. The translation tool means you can talk to nearly anyone too. Enjoy.

I really enjoy playing this game, I can spend hours and hours playing it. There is a few things that could be improved like there should be a option to sell things for resources or money as I have a lot of items that I don’t want or need like chests and teleports. In the shooting gallery it would be nice if you added a creation option as well as I spent more time trying to upgrade it and I’m not bothered about the other items in the shooting gallery. I would give it 5* but just these few things make the game a little annoying.

I have been playing this game mostly for 18 months now and I like many others originally thought it was going to be a MMO type of Game from what I saw of the adverts (done by a separate advertising agency). This was proven not to be correct as it is a strategy based game that’s on the 2-D platform, when I originally joined the game I found it to be exciting and it was great to interact with individuals that were all having fun and building up for the various events.

Sadly despite repeated complaints to customer support over troll castles being deployed in the kingdom I’m based in (kingdom 73, nothing seems to be done and I very much doubt anything will get done! This game is supposed to be a bit of fun but sadly as I’ve seen many times there are certain individuals who seem to think they can dominate others who do not subscribe to their way of doing things, there’s also way too many dead castles because people are fed up of customer support not coming to our aid when we need it!

As much as I like this game I’m beginning to wonder whether I should waste my time and money on this platform considering what I see on a daily basis.

For you to achieve anything in the game you have to buy packages which are over priced and also all the items you need to purchase to develop are also over priced !

The events need to be streamlined and more regular with better gold prizes to aid development ! As for customer service it’s next to nothing slow response and usually unhelpful if you have a problem !

This game is nothing like that, and having seen the reviews now, it seems like this is a frequent issue where there’s a bunch of misleading adverts. It’s just false advertisement, and it’s getting the app bad reviews, so what’s the point?

I wouldn’t suggest playing this game, it’s just like all those other tactical war games where you build a kingdom and wait in real time for buildings to build or level up, and you attack other armies. There’s other, very similar games with more to offer, better graphics, and most importantly, don’t falsely advertise their product.

Let’s start with the highly misleading adverts. This game is most definitely not a first person shoot up based on ww2 as has just popped up in an official ad for the game. I don’t get why the developers see the need to trick people this way. I have never ever seen a realistic advert portraying what this game is.

But assuming you stay after being tricked into downloading, after all its free. The game play isn’t too bad. Very predictable with you turning Cretan resources into power and you get stronger. Nice twists are the airship and armour which you quickly learn are important. But alas you don’t learn as its not well as explained.

We then enter the real issues. However you earn our power, by slowly getting resource into troops, or splashing out buying gold, your troops are always open. There is a massive advantage to attacking so you go to bed and wake up in the morning and find out all your troops are wiped out. You then spend more good or collect more resource to heal your troops and grow more power- slowing everything down. Which is ultimately why the free or low spending players then decide there is more fun things to do on the internet.

Which leaves the worlds full of gold buying players, as these games always do.

Nothing special, can’t protect your effort without spending money and false advertising.....

Even with the gift envelopes which is very expensive, there’s still not able to send most of the items!! It’s ridiculous!! I played this for a few months and got to know some really nice people online but I found that, after a short time, I needed to spend more and more money just to get ahead. You simply cannot build fast enough unless you pay for it and the game keeps trying to get more money from you for other things as you develop.

There also seems to be no end game to this... it seemed very pointless after a while and I kept getting hit by one of the bigger players, who frequently cheated, and all my resources were lost... at my cost!

So, not happy with it and leaving it now. I wouldn’t recommend it; it’s far too commercially driven and not enough fun quite frankly. I prefer Tiberium Alliances; at least you can see your battles and there is an objective to reach AND they don’t keep pushing you to pay for stuff!!

The MMO strategy is like most games and requires a level head, not to take things personally when you often lose in the beginning. It’s hard work getting to level 15 and while prices are expensive these are mostly by choice. If you want to progress quickly then this costs otherwise it’s very slow and gradual. For those not willing to spend for good gear then progression is best made via team play where you work together and help each other. Game play is hot too hard however a lot is packed into this 2 dimensional game and some 12 year olds might struggle a little at first to grasp the game play....

I do not agree with all the playability and their are good and bad parts to this game. If your patient then this might be for you. If your impatient and don’t want to spend cash then this game will not be for you.

They need to take responsibility for their product and its advertising. Game itself is fun until others start to attack you when there is little that you can do but start again where h gets a bit tiresome. Levels are significant can't different so they should restrict who can challenge who by limiting the difference between combatants. Or restricting the damage that they can do if they are so much stronger. They discuss bullying but have done nothing to stop it.

This game has two major issues. The first being it pulls about 100 Meg of data every time it reloads and it reloads every time it loses focus. If you use your device for for anything other than this game ( and of course you do ) it will reload upon your switching back . So watch your data bills skyrocket. It’s poor coding to need to reload that much data. Secondly whilst I’m ok with pay to play, which although the game is free the urge to buy speed ups especially gets stronger and stronger . That’s fine but come on the price is high for so little , many people leave before level 20 ish because it’s just too expensive. The gameplay itself is ok. Only ok because it’s riddled with bugs. Having to swipe over all the resource production is pointless. Why not give us one button to collect.

I continue playing the game because I’ve made friends on there but as for gameplay it gets more boring the longer the build time

As feared it’s virtually impossible to grow in this game once you reach about level 14 without spending money or joining an alliance. It’s takes vast amounts of resources to grow once you get to this point in the game and it’s almost impossible to collect it as you’ll eventually be found by a fat wallet warrior who will keep farming you and wiping out your troops if you have no shields or ports to move your estate. The daily free gifts do little to alleviate the problem and most things you need to really get ahead cost real money and quite a lot of it on a regular basis. There’s no facility to hide your troops at this stage and if you're like me and have played a similar game for a long period and have no desire to get caught up in politics and people’s real lives in an alliance then you may as well steer clear of this game.

However! Iv recorded several people cheating in my kingdom where they buy resources from a 3rd party for cheaper than you can buy in game. Iv reported this several times with video evidence and nothing’s happened. These players should be banned from the game. Most of our kingdom has reported this but nothing has come from our attempts so most of the player base is leaving to play other games where developers listen to issues and problems their players have. Don’t download they want you for your money and that’s all.

Saw this advertised as a first person MMO, it is actually a largely 2D map-view game. Most of the 5 star reviews are very suspicious as they are all more or less the same one word 5 star comments. Gameplay soon gets old - there is a challenge that resets every two weeks, and it is exactly the same every time. Snooze!

Paid-for items will be hidden among normal objectives so if you have Touch ID for purchases enabled play carefully! Airship upgrades come at a cost, actually calculated that purchase the premium items to fully upgrade your character, you’re looking at the tens of billions of dollars area, which is beyond stupid - developers living in a fantasy land hoping some Forbes rich list person gets drunk one night and plays the game. You must at least pay for gold to play - the bi-weekly challenge ends in a “Kill Event” where your player is attacked and troops and resources set back to 0 if you do not pay for 3 shields. Lots of kingdoms are full of castles where people have left, it can often seem like a ghost town. Save your time and money.

I like this game. Yes I was missold the product technically as the advert was completely different to the game. But this review is based on the game itself not how it was advertised. As strategy games go it’s one if the best I’ve played. Not spent a penny I. It and it keeps me occupied through the day. Other strategy games I’ve played do tend to get boring waiting for thing to happen (upgrading buildings, researching etc) but this game offers a few extra things to be getting in with whilst you wait and there’s plenty of free buffs to keep you interested at first. I’m only at level 11 castle so it’s possible that at later levels I’ll hit the same frustrations but as long as this isn’t a game that you plan to play 24 hours a day then it’s fine. I suspect if you wanted to invest a lot of time in this game you would have to invest some cash too. I’m not there yet. Anyway it’s given me several months of enjoyment. Ive played other strategy games that have hit my boredom threshold after a few hours.
