Version 1.0.9
Bought this game based on others reviews of it being like The Rooms escape.
Can happily say I have completed all 3. After I did the first one I couldn’t leave the second or third instalments untouched.
They are great games, well done to the developers.
I liked the fact there are hint’s available when you really are looking in the wrong place, makes it so much less aggravating.
Really enjoyed these and would advise anyone who enjoys escape games to get these.
P.s. I will be copying and pasting this review to the other two games in the series too.

Yet again. I’m being removed from a real dull world into a magical fake one. Ty devs, designers and whoever else, also important but I can’t name the departments, that’s given us plebes a few hours of escapist nonsense. Bless you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ oh, I’m only around for a short time as my case is terminal. But I’m a happy plebe but I want to make sure I thank those who have given me some fun and giggles.

Updating my review as the glitch resolved itself after I restarted the chapter a second time.
This was great fun overall, with lots of satisfying mechanisms and secret codes. The cutscenes are an interesting touch, especially the ones involving Da Vinci, although they were a bit long in some places.
I found the gameplay mostly satisfying, although sometimes the lack of a 360 view felt limiting.
I was really enjoying this and ready to give it five stars, but after making it all the way to chapter 5 I’ve hit a game-breaking glitch and can’t go any further. (Puzzle spoiler) I was pushing the ruby through the maze and turning the disks on the desk to line up the track when I had to put the game down for a while. When I came back, the disks on the desk had stopped having any effect on the ones in the picture. Once or twice one of them worked, but then they stopped again. The red circles in the picture just aren’t moving. My iPad is up to date, and I even tried restarting the whole chapter, which took a lot of time, but no luck. Super frustrating, I’d really liked it until then.

Engrossing diabolical puzzles with a story line. The first HDV was great. Though the graphics, in most scenes, are not as beautiful in this second version the story and puzzles are excellent.

Some puzzles way too easy, most fine, a few incomprehensible!
Worth playing though. The poem at the end, was I have to say utterly rubbish. Sad that the next chapter requires iOS 13 plus.

Loved the first game, but this surpassed it. Logical puzzles(some a bit tricky), great graphics and a good hint system should you need it. Spoken language somewhat incongruous; but that’s a minor beef. Bring on number 3.
Just played this again after a number of years and it was even better second time around. The passing of time meant I had forgotten a number of puzzles, but soon got into the swing of things. Having played all 3 twice now I think this is the best because of the amount of puzzles.
If you haven’t played any, then do yourself a favour and work your way through them.

I love these type of games and this is up there with the best. Yes some of the puzzles are incredibly hard to solve but overall with a bit of work you can get there. There has clearly been a huge amount of thought and work put into this game and the result is a game I couldn’t leave alone, well done to the developers, well worth the price and I will now complete all versions.

I played this game quite a while ago, and after going through my old games looking to replay some I happened across this again, so thought I’d have another go........
So glad I did, it’s a great game to get the old grey cells a bit of a work out, and at times I was completely stumped !!
So glad I played it, I shall now go onto the next one again !
And see just how frustrated I get with that one.
But I suggest you definitely give this one a go 😉👍

This is one tough game, the toughest part being the engineering room near the end before we pop back into the Scriptorium. I did this game a couple of years ago and thought I would do it again. The ending is a bit disappointing because I thought we would meet up with Da Vinci again. I have now repeated all of the classic room games and both House of Da Vinci games. Congratulations to the developers for these truly excellent games.

Great puzzle BUT fails at final hurdle! Iron gate with puzzle on it, to entrance with door to room high above scriptorium, has 4th tip incorrect! so spent hours trying to solve it. In the end had to watch a walk through on YouTube….. which gave the correct setting for 4th tip….
Shame as otherwise really liked it….

Lots of challenging puzzles to solve as you make your way through the game. The areas to search for objects are not too large and thankfully there is not a lot of walking around like in other games. The hints are helpful and each one slowly points you in the right direction. I don’t normally buy games as I’m satisfied with the free content however this purchase was well worth it.

I enjoyed the first in this series, but some of the janky puzzle mechanics and the buggy behaviour of the eye piece were frustrating. Happy to say that this version improves on all of those problems.
While much of this game is still a scavenger hunt — discover a random thingy here... use it in some obscure way over there — the puzzles do a better job of following the story line, and a few of the puzzles — especially towards the end — are fairly difficult to solve.
I also found that while the puzzle difficulty was higher in this second instalment, I didn’t need to rely on hints anywhere near as often as the first one. In the first one scavenger items were just really difficult to find, and in more than a few instances I needed a hint to point me where to look. That, thankfully, has been curtailed in the second version, and I think I only needed to use a hint twice in the game (and the second time I was annoyed that I didn’t find the item on my own, as if was not in an obscure location).
All in all, both are fun to play, but part two is better than part one and certainly worth your time and purchase.
Looking forward to a part three!!

This game is one of the best games I’ve played since The Myst series were released.
What a journey it takes you on.
Although some of the puzzles are quite complicated you know there is a logical way to solve them so you just keep trying until you succeed.
Definitely gets the grey matter working!!
I was sad when I had completed it as I wanted it to last forever.

Playing this on my iPod. I love the game but the writing is difficult to read, so I have gone into the settings menu on my iPod, then Selected ‘General’ then ‘Zoom’ and now I can zoom in on the small print in the game. This has made it much more enjoyable to play.
Just thought I’d share my little discovery. Now looking forward to the next game in the series.

... the storyline became confusing and led to a disappointing finale.
I really liked the first three chapters, but the tie-in to the first game left me somewhat perplexed. Having completed the game and paid attention, I still don’t fully get it.
As others have mentioned, some of the angles can be awkward when trying to solve certain puzzles, although overall the graphics are done well, with the exception of the actual in-game characters.
In fact the worse aspect of this second instalment was the hideous voice accents. Come on guys, with all the effort the team has put into this to create a game with atmosphere, could you not at least have had an Italian accent for the character voices? It really detracted from he feel of the game and in truth would have been better as text only.
Overall I did enjoy the game, even though it's not as good as the first HoDV, and I would recommend it, but I was very disappointed with this instalment's ending and the overlong cutscene which personally I felt was unnecessary. But hey, opinions vary and I will still be looking forward to part III.

You certainly get a big chunk of game time for your money. And graphically it's a triumph. However, whether through familiarity with the first game and The Room series, it can feel a bit plodding in stretches. Find item, put in slot, mechanical device whirs to reveal item, ad nauseam. And there are far too many parts where, rather than using brainpower, you are reduced to randomly jabbing around the darkened screen hoping it will zoom in to reveal a hidden area of interest. Good to occupy you for 10-12 hours at least - but whereas The Room felt ingenious and testing, this feels strung out and mechanical, often feeling more like trial and error than proper puzzle-solving. For all that, I'd still recommend it to completist fans of the genre - but oddly enough, condensing it and giving us less might have made it a more focused and enjoyable experience where the gameplay sparkled as much as the polished presentation. Voice acting was also a bit off, plot seemed to veer off to nowhere halfway through, with a limp non-ending, and Leonardo was annoyingly useless!

Never want it to end

Just completed this. What a phenomenal game. The developers have put great effort into this, building upon the first game.
I have no objective criticisms. I personally wasn’t into the puzzle that imitates a Rubik’s cube (I similarly disliked the sliding tile puzzle in the first game), but that’s me. The rest was enjoyably challenging and glitch free.
Devs, please do create a sequel and keep that creativity going. The voice acting, smooth transitions, different chapters, multiple locations... all were great additions.

Enjoyable plot and good value

I enjoyed playing this game and felt the developers had worked hard to improve on HODV1. Navigation was easier, and I liked the depiction of the various rooms and the Cesare Borgia storyline - and also that it picked up the ending from HODV1, which had seemed disappointingly sudden. (This game also has a sudden ending, so I expect game 3 will continue the tale.)
My main criticism with game 1 was that often there didn’t seem to be a logical sequence to the clues, but while I had a few such problems early in this game, I thought that aspect was improved and that it got better as it went on.
A huge amount of time and effort has gone into making this game and it is very good value for money (I took 10.5 hours to complete it). Congratulations to the developers - I look forward to playing HODV3!

The game “finishes” very abruptly

Enjoyed the various puzzles, but it ends abruptly as if they couldn’t be bothered finishing it properly! The end of the last chapter has half assed puzzles and then finishes with an annoying 10 min waste of time followed by what i assume is an “ending” suggestive of another sequel.
I wouldn’t bother buying this until they release the next one and even then I would want to know that the new one had a proper ending beforehand!

CH2 way better than CH1

I was not a big fan of HoDV 1. I felt there was little logic to many of the tasks that left you guessing or trying things out of hope rather than by design. Chapter 2 has solved all the problems of Ch 1. There is a logical progress, you can see the overall objective to chapters even if it is not simple to get there. Puzzles work well and make you think. I love it when you are forced to a hint and left thinking off course! Why didn’t I see that? ‘ Really enjoyed CH2 the best game since The Room 3. Thank you team.

I loved this game. The experience is a little different to its predecessor, with the plotline playing a stronger role, but the puzzles are generally as strong and the game feels considerably longer too. The production values are very strong, the graphics are atmospheric and show great attention to detail. The only minor fault I would mention is that I wasn’t a great fan of the voice acting—it wasn’t exactly poor, I just felt it was a little bland and could have been more emotive. But this is, of course, highly subjective and it didn’t detract in the least from the abundance of cunning and challenging puzzles on offer. Overall I really enjoyed the whole game start to finish and I’m very much hoping that a third instalment is on the way!

I loved the first game and was great to download Version 2 especially in lockdown. All was going well until Level 5 (I Think) it keeps crashing and I-have no idea why. New iPad loads of memory - anyone any ideas as its getting really frustrating.
Update. Have reloaded twice on IPad and fingers crossed it seems to be working so far. Have had to start again but as I am in lockdown I have plenty of time. So far so good and it’s keeping the brain working

Every bit as good as the first

£4.99 was bargain for nearly 8 hours of mind stretching puzzles and quests. One or two, as per HoDV 1 were a little overly obscure but you get there in the end. I’m not sure how the final VT fit in or why the route to the final room was so massively complicated when the guards just took 15 seconds to run into it from down stairs. However, that doesn’t take away any of the enjoyment. Well done once again BB.

Truly brilliant game

Great graphics and puzzles pitched just at the right level.
Did it in just over 15-hours with no clues, other than on one occasion. Quite chuffed about that. I find if you are stuck on something, put it down and come back later. Usually dies the trick.
One slight bug in the machine with the three sliders, before going through to the final room. I think it id the middle slider can occasionally get stuck and the graphics seems to lose track of it. Only happened a couple of times though and the way around it is to re-start the app.
One slight improvvement would be to get rid of the poem at the end, as it seemed slightly pointless to me. Not really interested in the back-story.
Well done all involved!

What a sequel!

Well, that was the best ten hours I have spent playing a game in a long time. I chose to dip in and out over a few weeks and I am glad that I did. I simply did not want it to end. The imagination of the developers is simply out of this world and the puzzles are devilishly brilliant. After completing the first incarnation of this game with many a hint, I chose to complete this one hint-less. It is worth persevering in this respect as the satisfaction of completing it is so much greater. I love the fact it is not pay per play and I wish more developers took this approach. People will pay a premium price for a premium game like this. I could go on and on...

Pioneering the genre

Exceptional! As always. Long awaited it was, even though it has great depth, as in its not over too quickly like so many others, but something this good is always over too quickly. Keep them coming ASAP please, but not at the expense of quality. Enjoying going back now and piecing it together with the first one. I have only this feedback.. The voice over couldn’t sound more like it’s read word by word from a script without punctuation, spoken without any expression in the context like a Siri bot, but it’s a fixed script. Totally worth doing better. I wouldn’t take away stars for it or anything but it had to stress the value in the characters engagement and authenticity to be convincing.. especially Leonardo DaVinchi. Keep up the the fantastic work!

Great, well thought out puzzles, like the first part, but with a much better story. I enjoyed this a lot. It is also very good that you can play this without a wifi connection, which is often not the case with ipad games. If you like puzzle games like the Room then you should enjoy this. I had to restart the last level because I managed to get the final machine in that level totally jammed somehow.

I’ve tried contacting you before about this bug where ever possible. Ie would be helpful if you had a support link actually on the game menu in 2020. The bug is when you open an envelope on a table etc. And once you’ve read it there’s no way of continuing the game, the envelope won’t remove no matter where you swipe/tap it. I’ve restarted the chapter with no result. Also offloaded the app and reinstalled and still no result. Upon opening the game the letter is still there. You have just released an iOS update 10 mins ago and yet this bug hasn’t been resolved. Latest iOS version and iPad 6th gen.

Great puzzle game.

Really enjoyed this sequel to the superb House Of Da Vinci. Tougher puzzles, a few had me tearing my hair out. But overall was very good with an interesting story. My main criticism is that the voice acting could have the right accent - Da Vinci should have spoken with an Italian accent - or even the game all in Italian with English subtitles - that would have added to the realism. But overalls very good game... I am looking forward to part three in a few years :)

Yet another beautiful Puzzle Game!

Version 1.0.5
I played the first Da Vinci game when it came out and really liked that one too! As a games/apps developer myself, I can tell that a lot of TLC has been put into the making of this app, kudos to the creators! Thanks for making such an intriguing and wonderfully puzzling game. If there were only more peaceful and intriguing games in the world such as this!

The graphics are great, the environment immersive and the puzzles are fun (though possibly a little straightforward for some). The story is... intriguing.
The sudden end was a bit of a shock though. Just when I was expecting something to put the big cutscene in context the credits rolled and I was left wondering if I’d missed something.
I also hope it won’t be another two year wait to find out what happens next.

I’ve played many games but this is my very first review as I just had to share the love. The storyline, graphics/artistry, puzzles and music are all superb. I loved that there were many stages, felt long but even then I didn’t want it to end. I truly hope there will be a third /many more games to follow this! My only ‘criticism’ was that the voice of Da Vinci sounded more like a voiceover artist than an actor. The rich, character voice used for the last story (of King Roger) would have been ideal, but I’m just being pedantic. Otherwise, I cannot recommend this more highly enough! Bravo to all involved! Amazing work!

Wow and wow again.

I loved this second game more than the first because of all the different locations, was hoping the library was another chapter but alas it was the end. I think chapter 6 was the hardest because I was stuck in the barn with all the mirrors for ages and it took me 2 weeks to work out how to open the door to the library so I was really upset to find it was the end. Work hard everyone for number 3 and many thanks to all for this wonderful game.

I simply adore puzzle games and discovering the room and house of da Vinci has been an absolute dream. The only disappointing thing about this was coming to the end! I am not one to normally pay for apps but this was well worth it and more. The gameplay was smooth and supported by a nice side story. I loved how you could almost look 360 in most rooms including the ceiling so you could just appreciate the surroundings and work that had gone into the game.
Admittedly, I did find some of the hints a bit ambiguous but was happy not to watch ads to get them! I like to give things a go first by myself and have time to think, as I’m sure others who like these sorts of games do, so much appreciated how hints were spaced out and didn’t reveal too much straight away but gradually gave you more and more info as and when you wanted it. Nowadays you can just find a walkthrough but it was nice to not have to disturb gameplay to get help.

Great game, poor voice-acting

Title says it all. Knocked a star off because the voice acting was awful and took me completely out of any sense of immersion.
Four stars may even be generous, but there are many other great facets of the game such as the suspense and the well-designed puzzles, so it wouldn’t be fair to be too harsh on an “overall” rating.
I hope the developers don’t skimp on the acting side of things next time. And go further with developing the characters. If you’re looking for an area of improvement, those would be the first to work on.

Not as good as the last one..

The game is good and beautifully put together but the puzzles in this one aren’t as engaging - some are just too time consuming such as the reflecting lights which you have to sequence to hit different things - it isn’t difficult but just too many of the same thing over and over and the room is difficult to picture in such a way as to work out the puzzle properly because you’re so close to everything and all corners look the same so you forget which part of the room you’re in! The puzzles are either simply unclipping something or simple but repetitive tasks that take too long. At the start the clues weren’t clear as to which world or room they were relevant to which wasn’t ideal either ( I rarely ask for clues but spent 2 days trying to figure one part out after having a clue because it wasn't a logical sequence).
This is still better than a lot of puzzles out there but not as good as the first HoD game..

Puzzles great, cut scenes awful

The puzzles, which are the main part of the game, are great. Challenging and varied but not too difficult. Generally I found if I got stuck I’d find the solution after I put the game down and came back to it a little later.
The cut scenes though are awful. Poorly animated with bad voice acting. Especially the final tiresome dirge of a “poem”. What a dreadful anticlimax to an otherwise great game. Terrible writing, badly orated, far, far too long with no apparent way to fast forward through it. I ended up accidentally skipping it entirely and having to find a video walkthrough to find out what it said (It was not worth it other than to make it clear there is to be a part III).

Having enjoyed the game (great graphics, good puzzles, etc, etc), I was pretty disappointed to pick it up to play just now and my profile has just disappeared! I was fairly far into the game (the room after the rope trolley across a courtyard). Although I enjoyed the game it would be pretty tedious to have to start all the way from the beginning to get to where I was! Developers take note, this needs fixing - I paid £4.99 for this game and now I am annoyed!!

I have played all the room series of games and the 1st house of da Vinci, all brilliantly made and kept me interested until completion.
When I saw the second instalment, this game, I had no reservation in buying it. What can I say this has beaten all others that came before it including the room series, it has an excellent story and a mix of great puzzles, from fairly simple to complex with some that were frustrating but that’s what keeps you hooked.
The graphics and gameplay is outstanding keeps you wanting more. What’s more it is priced very well and shows that the developers are not getting greedy even though I can’t begin to imagine how much work has gone into this.
Well done Blue Brain look forward to the next one.
Advice to the makers of room series, you have chosen to make your next one vr only, don’t, you will lose out as I and many others won’t buy it.
Blue Brain, please don’t follow in the same way, I can see the appeal for vr, but provide 2 versions so all can enjoy.
Please thank all the team who worked on this masterpiece.
Will buy the next release for sure.

I do agree with other reviewers that too many of the puzzles are shapes based (patterns/find the correct shaped object) however the graphics and length of game more than make up for that. I really loved working my way through the stages; it is - by far - the closest thing to The Room series that I’ve found so far. I am a little obsessed with these sort of iPad games and this was up there in my top 3. I just wish the ending had been more satisfactory...!

I was enjoying the game up until the crane puzzle - the hint keeps telling me to pick up a “small inconspicuous object” on the stone block, but I picked that object up earlier and it’s now missing from my inventory (and it’s not back on the block). Can’t progress without this object, so I wait in hope of a fix.
EDIT - restarted the chapter as suggested and realised as I reached that point again that I had been looking in the wrong *time* for the object. Entirely my fault, don’t know how I missed the word “snow” in the hint. A smack to the forehead for me, and a raise to five stars for the devs.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was totally engulfed with the game finding it hard to put it down for a moment. There are just the right amount of hints if I did get temporarily stuck although I tried not to use the hints as like to try to solve things on my own. Any further hints would make the game a mockery to play as would leave nothing for the player to figure out for themselves.
All good things have to come to an end though so completion of all enjoyable games like this always seem to be abrupt, however am glad it ended in such a way that it can continue with a chapter 3 which I look forward to in the future. Well done Blue Brain Games. Keep them coming.

Have thoroughly enjoying playing this second part. However my profile disappeared and I had to start from the beginning when, I assume, was nearing the end of the game. It’s not very often that games like this come along. It’s a true pleasure to play the game is very challenging but just the right amount of help is given so that you don’t get bogged down, the level of effort that must have gone into developing this game is breathtaking. An absolutely joy to play too me nearly 12 hours in total and I loved every minute of it. Can’t wait for the next one. Bravo!!!

It is a game that everyone should play and be happy to pay. The puzzles and mechanics are wonderful, the duration is good (over 8 hours) and it has decent voice narratives in it.
However, it is a bit of a grind.
Early on in the game there was a letter setting a task, a meeting with a stranger, a job given that must be completed as payment... there was purpose.
Then all of sudden we’re swept forward years and years lead by some unknown ‘friend’ and everything will become clear (I’m not sure it did!) and what the main characters motivation was became lost.
Some of the puzzles ended abruptly, for example, collect several vials and you do a puzzle for one, another puzzle for a second and then the next puzzle gives you all the remaining ones at once. Pointless.
The poem at the end was awful too. The insistence of rhyming made it a bit comical and that background story has been done a million times before.
Looking forward to the next one but please stick a bit more action in between puzzles.

Good game - rubbish ending

Enjoyed this game overall but it lost a star due to the controls and the need to sometimes tap in the correct square mm to find something. The controls for quite a few of the puzzles were very annoying as a wrong swipe would change the view angle instead of the puzzle controls, and there was no need to be able to change the angle. I also quite often found myself giving up and taking a hint only to find I was looking in the right place but not tapping the exact pixel that I need to, which was very frustrating as that is not a puzzle!
However, it is still an excellent game but the ending really is rubbish!

I’ve been playing this game for probably around 10 hours with my son and we got 3 quarters of the way through the game. All of a sudden the game data has been lost. I’ve seen loads of other reviews with exactly the same issue that I had and the developers continually blame iCloud or not having enough storage! This is nonsense as I have a brand new iPhone with just 20GB of 200GB being used and there is no reason why my iCloud account would be an issue, I don’t even use iCloud. My message to the developers is stop being douche bags and blaming iCloud for your coding issues. I don’t care if I get my money back or not, you can keep it if your that desperate, I am more annoyed that you fob off loyal supporters of your game by blaming iCloud and don’t take responsibility for your coding issues that cost players hours of their time. Sort it out.

Love your games, honestly, great fun after only 30 mins of playing..... This time though I have difficulty controlling the doors. Third door that I find very hard to open. It took me 5 mins last door I unlocked to push or pull open. Now instead of opening it the whole screen moves up/down, left/right. Very hard to control this time on the iphone. What happened to the good old double click to open doors? Anyhow I'm stuck. Now what?

This is a first class game, with a wide range of excellent (but mostly not brain-numbing) puzzles. Spread across six beautifully realised settings, it will keep you engaged for many hours (it took me around 10 hours to complete). Such a shame that the game is let down by some terrible voice acting. What on earth is going on? It must have cost a huge amount of money to create so why on earth skimp on such an important element? Thankfully, apart from an insanely long epilogue, there isn’t much of it, so don’t let that put you off purchasing the game, which is of the highest quality.

I was so excited to see this was available as I played the first one and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, after paying for it and downloading it I find there is the initial page with ‘select profile’ and then the words ‘synchronising’ and nothing happens. After reading that others had similar problems I updated the IOS and it works!!
What an AMAZING game, as I expected, full of brilliant graphics and puzzles that are a little taxing at times, but you always have the hint button at hand. Don’t know how far I am into the game but hope that there is more puzzle and game time left. Worth every penny

This chapter is far far superior to the first house of davinci in every way, the story alone is compelling and I love that so much thought has gone into the characters, the movement is beautiful and easy to use, the puzzles are the perfect difficulty and actually make sense, the whole experience flows, well done to the developers who have listened to their fans and produced a marvel, I’m actually enjoying it more than the room games, I can’t put it down. A huge thank you to all

Amazing amazing amazing.
I am a puzzle fanatic and this is brilliant. Just the right level of curiosity and the right amount of help. Great game and just so clever. It’s great that it’s interactive and challenging and that the user has to do things to make something else work or to locate something. I genuinely love this game and it’s great to have finally been able to download it.
The ending was a bombshell!!! I literally cried when I couldn’t do any more and that I had completed it and the credits were rolling! Insane! But just goes to show that there will be another instalment I hope! Fingers crossed?! I’m too unsure if I want to play it again as I think it will be too easy now I know what to do.

I did enjoy the game and there were some lovely puzzles. However many of the puzzles were simply looking for a button/switch which is less enjoyable that those requiring reasoning. The biggest problem is the abstract nature of the objects you collect. Often it isn’t clear even what you’re looking at, let alone which object to use it with. I think games like this require really clear visual cues which sadly this doesn’t have very often. For example, most of the objects you pick up are different shaped lumps of metal. Alongside this it’s infuriating trying to push and pull and press so many things to find the right object to move in exactly the right way. The dragon heads are a good example of this. There were a lot of occasions where I resorted to hints for the ‘easy’ things whereas I could solve complex puzzles unaided. So close to being a brilliant game but a little more thought and empathy needed. It’s hard in all the wrong ways.
