For those who haven’t downloaded this game: if you intend to run this game on an iPad (that is, the majority of iPad models), expect it to crash every five minutes (or seconds, when a certain time-limited event is around). And do not dream of getting any compensation if you lose anything in-game due to such crashing issue- Support will only blame your device and do nothing. For the sake of your own mental health, better not wast your life on this game at all.

For those who are lucky enough to own a powerful device: expect non-stop time-limited side quests, game getting harder while progressing through the Years, endless cash-grabbing time-limited events with rewards at absurdly high goals that’s basically impossible to reach without spending a ridiculous amount of £££. In a word, kindly go away if you are not a millionaire.

Lastly, for devs of this bug-infested game (if you ever bother to read your app’s comments): If your game has such high device requirement I suggest you say so and list all device models that are capable of running your game in the app description, so users who are not rich enough to own the right device don’t need to bother installing it on their device and waste hours trying to fix your game in the first place. When you get started it seems pretty fun, choosing your wand stationary stuff house etc. but just as you complete the tutorial you realise that you need energy for very simple actions. This is such a brilliant game, I love Harry Potter and think that this is an excellent way to test my knowledge with the questions it asks and have fun doing all the tasks.But.. It is slightly disappointing how it is the same for everyone and the only differences are our names, appearances and houses/house prefects. We don’t really get a choice in how our lives and up. I love Hogwarts mystery, it’s always fun to to play when i get bored, even though I am not very far into the game (just having completed year 1 yesterday lol) with that in mind, I looked up if the characters appearance changes with there age, apparently not. I think this would be a really cool detail in the game aging with your character, seeing them grow. I doesn’t need to be any think really dramatic and maybe is someone doesn't really like the out come they can change it. I like the concept of the game (although it is extremely similar to the actual Harry Potter books) and how you can explore in the castle. The graphics are also satisfactory. However, you have to wait 4 entire minutes for a single cell of energy, and one task takes an average of 4 cells of energy. Also, many rooms (such as Flich’s Office and several other classrooms) are locked - you have no access to them until a specific year; it’s annoying for me as in the Harry Potter series, you didn’t need to be in the third year to have access to a specific class, for example, Astronomy.

Items are also extremely expensive - it expects us to afford items at a price of 500 gems when you can hardly earn any gems from the actual game. Then, it says you can earn them by winning the House Cup. The points earned from lessons vary from a 0-4. A very low amount. The events are very nice, though, again, items bought from there are also very expensive.

Overall this game is amazing and I can’t get enough of it. But then there’s really annoying things about the game. One thing is the energy. The thing I hate the most about this game. I know energy is there so that you don’t basically finish the whole game in like a day but what I want This game to change is the energy. I’m not saying that you should get rid of it, but I’m saying that you should definitely make the wait times different as it’s kinda unrealistic to wait four whole minutes for one bit of energy. So what I usually do to pass the time, is watch ads but if I really can’t be bothered I spend 55 gems. For me that is really a lot. The second thing is the wait times to do things like for instance you’ve just got into the good part of the game and then, you actually have to wait 2 HOURS. And to skip the time you need to spend those sweets. One more thing that I want to complain about is the prices of things. You know when you buy cool outfits and pets but you realise that you’re gonna need to start saving for ages because it’s like 2000 gems or something. I really want this game to make these prices cheaper cuz it’s kinda like this game literally expects the players to be made of money.

Overall this game is great but I would really appreciate it if these things I’ve pointed out can change.

I love the wizarding world, and loved the game as it lets us be part of the magic, so to say. But some of issues I have with it are ones people have had, like the time limits on adventures or how long to wait to talk to someone, or or waiting for the energy to replenish as it is needed to complete the event or adventure (or class), the pages price to play adventures I was unable to play/complete (again, due to waiting for energy to replenish), the quidditch games (why do we have to pay coins for something that should be testing speed, aka how quick you can get the glowing orb into the circles to do a successful manoeuvre).

If they was no energy, no coins for quidditch, and no slow wait times, I am sure you would have an even better game then you do now. I mean the graphics beats some games out there. Also, maybe make it so we can pick what spell we can learn in class (and not have spells be unique to a event, the amount of spells I have missed due to me not being able to complete events is annoying) it would make people, like me or not (I’m not Trelawney), a lot happier and eger to play Hogwarts Mystery (also, let the player have a better broom for quidditch, also shouldn’t we be meeting Oliver Wood soon,I’m in fourth year and wondering when Oliver will be turning up)

I chose gryffindor this time (i swear I’ve chosen every house on different devices) and chose a better kind of life by reasoning with people and being kind and I’m already in chapter 4! It took me months to reach chapter 5 with my old character and I’m already there with a few minutes of playing! I’ve tried reasoning with Merida a few times so I hope people won’t think I’m like My in-game brother and I love the know update in the great hall and you can go in first person I always wanted that feature and you can walk around in it! Thanks you really did it!!! I came back to this after months and it’s getting way better!! I think I was a 2019 starter so I am happy with getting back into the game for a bit! But the “waiting for talking to someone” takes so long :( and the watch add to speed up button won’t work!!! And the energy I used tp play it used to take me days to finish a task and it usually deleted the progress and sent me a notification that says :where are you? ____ is about the end! It really annoys me but I finished loads of tasks by when it offers u reward in tasks I press energy! Gems are basically so annoying I’m not allowed to buy them but so I have to use the not gems version and use the gems I get from the game itself :( thanks for listening guys!

I’ve made it to year 4 but I’m feeling worn out tbh. There’s too many things going on at once and your energy burn out is far too fast. Unless you’re willing to part with cash at quite an unreasonable price then unfortunately this game just takes too long. I’ve logged back in for the first time in months and I’m met with three different events going on, you can only do one class at a time either completing all the stars to finish or waiting 3hrs plus. (The events are all time limited so basically you need to buy energy to succeed). Full energy will get you to about 2/5 stars. So again you have to wait hours for your energy to refill. It’s a real shame, cause it is a good game but I’d rather buy it for £10/£15 and just have unlimited energy.

I find to swap between locations takes ageees (that could be my connection?) but it demotivates me to collect all the random energy you find lying about. Again these take hours to reset so doesn’t really put you that far ahead.

I think the creators need to be a bit more generous to keep players. A one off payment option would be nice. And just tone down all the add ons, one at a time is plenty! One last small thing is I regret the house I chose and it would be great if there was an option to swap, that way you could all see different common rooms etc. but I get that’s a bit unnecessary! Maybe a trial before you choose?

I love this game, the attention to detail, graphics and all the adventures you can go on are amazing. Quidditch is so much fun as well, and I love all of the clubs.

But I wish the timed quests were less frequent and more lenient. If you have any sort of a life at all or work in an office and can’t play the game for a day or so, it’s impossible to complete them in time and it does annoy me. Recently I had seconds to go on the timer, just completed the last task but failed the quest because the chatty bit at the end wasn’t completed in the time limit. This isn’t the first time I’ve been in this situation and I was so annoyed! And since starting 5th year it seems like these quests are non-stop! There is at least one every week. I can’t progress with the story because the quests are so frequent and I never manage to complete them in time so it feels like I’m just wasting my time.

* also on an unrelated note, every time I duel I get a player who is level 1 on all stats. It is very boring and clearly some sort of glitch?*

Okay, so I absolutely love this game, i just think there are somethings that could be improved. Like I know the Special Adventures are like that because they only happen at certain times, but i think the game would be so much better if you could choose when to play the Special Adventures. Like we have a memory log book and we could easily have a list of Special adventures that we have to pay notebooks for or something to play. I just think it would be so much better then because it takes only like a week to complete the first year and the same for the second year so I just think it would be better if we had a different way to play them. Then there’s the memories. I think it’s a nice idea rewatching memories, but also kind of pointless. I feel like we should be allowed to retake those choices while we’re replaying the memories. Of course these choices won’t affect the game we’re playing now, it’s just for us to see how things could have gone.

If you added all these things I think the game could be a lot better.

But aside from that, I love the game.

Hello! Before I tell you what could improve this game, let me get something straight. This is an AMAZING game and I recommend it to anyone who likes Hogwarts, or even doesn’t like Hogwarts! I am not really a fan of Harry Potter but this game makes it all the more fun. With that said, the progress timer can be SO annoying at times! I know what it’s supposed to do. It’s supposed to make you waste diamonds which are really rare to skip the timer. Although the diamonds are in-game currency, if you don’t earn much of it you need to spend real money to buy it. In other words, the only real way to progress efficiently is to spend real money that you worked hard to earn. Look, I’m not an ad hater so maybe swap the timer out with a couple ads but the timers are long (I’m talking minimum of two hours long) and annoying. Maybe even keep the timers but at least make them shorter! Same goes with energy. I, for one, am in the middle of an Easter event where they dish out energy every day but when that ends, maybe whenever you earn a star they give you five energy or something? I know it’s only a wait of four minutes, but still!

I really like this game, but I can’t help getting frustrated by the connection error bug. Every other game/function on my phone works fine… my internet is high speed fibre, yet every 20 mins or so I get trapped in a loop of connection error. Not only is this frustrating but it also doesn’t stop the count down on your tasks. So if you are in a lesson, the time continues to count down, despite not being able to connect to the game. Having looked online for a fix, it seems this error has been going on for the last few years.

Other than this, the game is fantastic and I’m honestly looking forward to continuing the story and adventure. The game developers have clearly put a lot of effort into the story line and the game itself. I would like to do things like play wizard chess, after getting gifted the wizard chess board. However, I can also see that new parts of the adventure are being added constantly, with different events and things throughout the month. I’m looking forward to seeing what else I will be able to do as I continue the journey… but please fix the connection bugs as it really does spoil the gaming experience when it’s happening.

I love this game especially the friends where you can level up to level 10 by having a meal,some butterbear, or playing gobstones however I would love to see playing wizard chess added as not everyone plays gobstones meaning you can’t do all three with the same person if they don’t like gobstones an example of this would be Murphy. I would also like more paper places I don’t know if there is but I am only aware of one spot it could be in spots were students are holding a piece of parchment or paper and instead of them glowing it could be like the energy. Also I think the adventures that you buy with 300 paper should be lowered to 50 or 100 as I want pets and I’m sure a lot of people do but can’t do both because there’s only one paper a day as if it was lowere it would still be hard to do both but actually more possible I absolutely love this game and would recommend any Harry Potter fans getting this. Another thing is that I completely forgot about OWLS and NEWTS and I’m sure a lot of people did and would like to study for them as it would help be prepared. You could do this by adding whenever you do a study lesson you can pick a charm if your doing charms or potion if your doing a potions class of your choice to study as if you want to remember a spell it’s harder as it does random ones so if you could pick which one it could really help

The problem with this game is that you can’t actually play it for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Firstly you run out of energy, even if you don’t run out of energy, chances are you finish the task and then have to wait anything from 3-8 hours for the next one. You can buy energy, you can buy coins and you can buy diamonds, however I am less inclined to purchase any when you would need to buy about 100 diamonds to skip the wait time and then like 30-60 energy to complete the next task. If energy refilled a bit quicker so I only had to purchased diamonds to skip the wait time to keep playing I would be more likely to do that or if there wasn’t a wait time and I only have to buy energy, I would be more likely to do that but both? No thanks. It put me off playing years ago when I first played it and in 24 hours of playing again it’s already putting me off now. It took me a couple of minutes to complete everything I could this morning and now I have to wait over 7 hours for the next task. A couple of minutes play time for every 7 hours doesn’t seem particularly great to me even if I do love Harry Potter.

I love the HP Universe, so the fact that a game exists that allows me to experience Hogwarts first-hand is what makes it one of the best games out there for Potterheads. The quizzes and character interactions are very interesting (though maybe a bit repetitive once you play regularly) and the look and layout of the castle sticks very close to how it's portrayed in the films.

My main issue is that the Special Adventures (tasks that advance relationships and the plot, overall rounding out your experience) and events are time limited, and sometimes don't even appear. I've missed a lot of special adventures in past years because they didn't appear in the correct chapter, or due to it not being the correct month in real time: Christmas at Hogwarts/The Burrow, A Gift of Gratitude, etc. There are also spells you can use in duelling that you can't earn throughout the school year, so it's very easy to miss those too.

I'd really like the option to retry the events, like you can right now with special adventures, so I can unlock everything I possibly can such as the spells, clothes and dormitory furniture.

I’m obsessed with he Harry Potter movies and this is just the perfect game for me the story line is amazing and the graphics are super cool and I love that you can accessories your character and play gobstones and meal with a friend and duel and stuff but there is just one problem that annoys me so so much the orb thingys (like the blue stuff you use) yeah that why WHY does it take SOOOO long to get it to fill up back to 28 like WHY I was in a study session in flying class and I ran out of orbs so you know I didn’t want to see ads so I just waited and it took like 1 WHOLE HOUR TO GET THE DANG ORBS TO FILL UP LIKE WHYYY. You got it that I love this game but I kinda just don’t want it to take like an hour to fill up, also another thing is the time thing (I think that was a new update btw) like so I’m in a SUPER SUSPENSEFUL part of the story and then when I need to do the next part there’s that time thing and it’s like 2 FRICKIN HOURSS TO DO THE QUEST and im like hmm maybe I can just skip but NO I can’t skip it becuase I don’t have enough gems cause it’s like 90 gems to skip for me everytime and like why at a super suspenseful part of the story I’d be fine for like another time. But either than that the game is really cool and I hope more people can play the game.

This game is SO AWESOME. probably the best of all the Harry Potter games because it has a proper storyline and it’s set BEFORE the books/movies so u can meet and be friends with tonks and bill and Charlie and Draco malfoy even makes a cameo in one of the special adventures (can’t remember which one but I didn’t finish it lol) speaking of special adventures - I wish they lasted longer!! Like during school holidays it’s fine to have them short and snappy, bcs we have time to spend the whole day playing, but during term time it’s nigh impossible to finish a special adventure. But hey - I’m not complaining - I finished the animagus quest and u can become SUCH A CUTE ANIMAL!

just one other thing - doesn’t it make more sense to have one energy point per two minutes? instead of four minutes? because it ends up taking 120 minutes - two hours - for ur energy to refill, and there aren’t enough mini games to keep us hooked into the game without paying for energy. Then with two minutes for one point of energy instead of four, it only takes 60 minutes - one hour; half the time.

In love with the game tho, it’s absolutely awesome! Respect to the animators too bcs there’s so much complex animated movement and as an artist I rlly appreciate it! <3

Really want to rate this higher. The animation, characters, customisation and the mini games are all great but if you want to actually enjoy the story and get submersed then prepare to pay!.

I understand they the devs need to make money but 4 mins wait for 1 energy is a bit much. You can never get into a lesson or story as you have to wait for energy to refill constantly unless you pay with gems, even have to wait for levels to unlock.... unless you want to pay! Cmon! I find myself starting a lesson then coming out the game because you don’t have enough energy to complete it. I want to get into the game as it has so much potential but there’s no incentive. Even if it was 3 minutes an energy then would be more likely to come back on and complete classes. I like the Energy spots through but they recharge every 2-8 hours. Sometimes more!

I could honestly gladly blitz this game if it was unlimited energy AND restart and replay the entire game constantly, there’s so much choice!! So much dialogue options!! Seems like a waste of work, make content the player isn’t going to see. I want to play a courageous gryffindor, a sly slytherin a brain ready raven claw and a loyal hufflepuff but that’ll take me 30 years with this energy rate. Let us pay for outfits, pets, coins, gems but not energy. Slowly losing interest

Okay so, last year, me, a clueless child who didn't know any better begged my mother to buy this. i had fun playing, but the story didn't have any flavour, and because of energy running out and school days, i could never finish the classes. but then i redownloaded it a couple days ago and i've LOVED it. i reset my character because i didn't want a female character anymore so i changed that, and the house Hufflepuff from Slytherin. I'm already on Year 1 Chapter 8, and yes, i have to wait 4 minutes for every energy to refill, but when i restarted the game, i was given 227 free energy! also i had quite a few gems and coins from my old game restored after Chapter 2, which i think is a cool feature, and also the memories , romance and clubs are cool new features. i actually have about 1800 coins at the moment and that's not even the most i've ever had. story wise, i'm currently stuck in the Brewing Sleeping Draught side quest with Penny Haywood (aka the love of my live lmao[i💛you penny]). Genuine good game but the energy can be a bit stressful sometimes so maybe if you could change the 4 minutes to 30 seconds/20 seconds minimum? thank you for reading,

This started when my game crashed after winning a duel ... then it started up again & to my dismay I saw the same duel end with ME losing, so I lost the prize I had gained (as it was 9/9). As if that weren’t bad enough, I then decided to feed the 3 creatures I had (now 4). Fed the first 2 with no issues, but the game crashed when I went to another area to feed the third creature. When the game came back on, I was in the area before again ... & I was REALLY frustrated to find that my creatures STILL needed feeding! At that point, I just quit playing, because it was making me lose my cool. Then I saw the upgrade & thought that would fix things ... but now it won’t even let me play the game properly! It crashes repeatedly when I switch areas & it erased all the progress I had made! I wish I hadn’t upgraded, because at least it allowed me to get some tasks done ... & now I can’t even collect energy orbs! Please get this fixed, because I’ve already purchased a special outfit in this game & I’d hate to throw away a game I’ve spent money on. 😭💔📱

I’ve been playing since Christmas Day and really enjoying the storyline, however since the latest update I’ve run into endless issues with the game closing itself and what I can only describe as rewinding of the storyline, nearly every time I open the app. Main example being I completed the Y2 side quest whereby you gain a friendship with Chiara as the final ‘reward’. I completed this quest (whilst dealing with numerous closing issues and backtracking - I had to complete the dual 5 or 6 times because I would get kicked out) with 2+ hours before it officially timed out and was extremely pleased to have made friends with Chiara and looked forward to levelling up the friendship for the final reward. I have just logged back on after letting my energy recoup to continue the main storyline and I’ve reverted to the final conversation with Chiara and because the timer on the side quest has run out I’ve lost the reward I worked so hard for the last 3 days! A complete and utter waste of my time and the characters energy! Highly disappointed and annoyed, to the point where I really don’t want to play again despite enjoying the game up to this point.

I would highly encourage a developer get in touch to resolve this issue and provide some sort of top up to energy or figure out a way to get me that reward I worked so hard for that I had taken away from me, purely because the update has ruined the game for me.

Absolutely love this game but having to wait soooo long for energy, is a game spoiler for me especially as it takes a lot of energy just to get through one small tasks , around about 70 energies, having to leave game on when in the middle of a task that’s just cost you 56 energies but it still needs about 23 energies to complete, I leave the game and play other games to spend the time needed to then go back into the game to complete the task! Usually around the every half hour I go back onto the game to use the 12 energies and then go back to playing other games then back to Harry Potter to get the task complete before it maxes out on the game time limit! That has also happened to me on several occasions, I find it frustrating and a bore! Just wish you tech people could make it more game friendly, for the player, as the wasting time going in and out of the game whilst waiting for energy to add up, spoils the game it atmosphere! Why??? I am giving it a go again tonight as you only get to be on it for around 3 minutes at a time completely ruins the gaming atmospheric and fun turns into frustration and boring! So, People who are reading this please, PLEASE listen becuase I am a mega mega huge Harry Potter fan and if one of you out there is too, I really recommend this game! For a start, you can adopt really cute pets, like, who doesn’t like a puffskin?! And for second the adventures are really fun. Because i’m a HARRY POTTER fan I chose Gryffindor I’m quite far into the game and I have Bill Weasley as a friend now and I think soon I’ll be year three!!! I’ve adopted a few pets and I’m trying to adopt a dragon, the black horse thing, the hippogriff is definitely being adopted some time! So that will be fun, and I’ve unlocked quidditch I mean, quidditch is quite easy to play. And there is some bad things about this game, firstly there’s a thing called energy and you use it during classes and well, if you run out of it you have to wait 4 minutes to get 1 energy! Too long People! Too long!!!!! Please fix that or at least make it so you have to wait 1 minute to get 10 energy. I also don’t like how there isn’t an online server, and if you do make it so they have an online server please put a chat in too. That just about everything, oh and I do wish you could teach your pet tricks that would put nice, sorry if I’m asking too much.

Btw (by the way), I have gone loop-the-loop crazy for this game!

I love the game. It’s fun and I love how you get to experience Hogwarts without the hole Harry Potter drama. Not that I don’t like it I’m probably the biggest hp fan there is out there. But here’s the serious talk. ENERGY!!!!!!

I know it’s good but like it’s just impossible for me to play if I’m just gunna have to keep spending money. The length of four minutes is ridiculous I would be ok with two but FOUR I would definitely be ok with more happy hours.

I’m doing the prefect event and I’m literally going to kill myself because like I know well you know it’s hard because I’ve I’ve only got 19 hours left and I’ve still got like three hours worth of doing time on it and where I am at 9 o’clock so that would only bring me to 10 hours and then I’ve still got like eight hours to sleep so that means I would only have two hours to do it which is if I’m talking about it that’s not gonna be good so so what I want is I want to change that it cost money to get gems but it costs coin coins and that we can we can have because like if you tap on it can I get a get 3 to watch a video so I change the three gems to 5 thank you for listening to me I hope I get some feedback soon😎😎😎

I will give this game five stars, I’ve been playing since April and I love it. The is quite a few reviews that don’t like the fact that 1 energy recharges every 4 mins, but actually, I quite like that they did that, because for adults or kids who are prone to game addiction - it can help you stop staring at the screen. So when you run out of energy, you set your notifications on, wait 2 hours for a full recharge and continue playing. I’m glad it doesn’t recharge faster to be honest otherwise people would complete the game by now and be like “well that was fun but it didn’t last long” that’s the point of the 4 min recharge so it lasts longer! I’m already in year 3 and haven’t uploaded money (but I will donate eventually to the devs for such an amazing job.)

I do have one suggestion however, would it be possible to get your energy back after a failed 5* task? Because sometimes when I’m 5 energy points away and I wait for a recharge, I end up forgetting and starting the task all over again on 3hr & 8hr tasks, I’ve even spent a few hours on the same task over and over again because I either forgot about it or overslept it.. you could set a limit once per day for it.

It is a fun game I’ll give you that, the missions are fun there are great animals and it’s cool learning the spells, however, it takes me so long to save up enough energy to complete a task that I contemplate deleting the app to save myself some torture. But what other game will I play? Maybe take a leaf out of the book of some other games and reduce the time it takes to regain energy. Or maybe just create some bundles of energy you can buy for coins or gems instead of money. I understand you need to earn from this game and don’t want to resort to adds (I appreciate the fact that adds don’t pop up every five seconds) but if there were petty little purchases like ten energy for twenty pence or unlimited energy for a minute for fifty pence people might be more inclined to have those.

As I said before though a great game I enjoy it loads and I hope there will be updates for months if not years to come.

[small side note - I have not reached the end but am interested to see how it goes - my current thoughts are that you get to create a new character and redo the game with them, or maybe create a new character and there is a different storyline or maybe you carry on into the ministry of magic as a job or a teacher in hogwarts or something. So I’ve been playing this game and love it but I’ve run into some issues. Firstly I believe the male and female characters should have the opportunity to get each others hairs e.g. long for male.

Secondly last Christmas I had an issue with the Christmas side quest in the form of not getting it at all, i only got a final answer months from then and 3 help chats away. Another slight issue is that hats and hair come together and there is not way to pick what hair you have with your hat rendering hats practically useless. Finally this ones not that important but I feel that in event side quests if you complete it there should be some sort of way to get the other outfit even if it’s just playing again for fun as not completing it

Anyway the game is good there are just a few issues and also the help feature isn’t always as bad as I’d experience as it was around Christmas meaning staff shortage would have been w problem probably and they may have been very busy with requests. These issues have only taken down a single star so it’s safe to say the game is amazing and not as bad as the issues I’ve presented all of the time. E.g. lots of content.

I love this game as I love Harry Potter and enjoying the story line. When I have the resources I want to keep playing it, however you only play it for a few mins before you have to leave it again, you either run out of energy (does refresh but not very fast) or you have to wait ... hours. As well as the fact you need to do some lessons around 3 times to get enough stars to unlock the next one. If I do get the chance to have lots of energy it doesn’t last long. Definitely a quicker refresh of the energy is a good idea or even less needed for the lessons / tasks, maybe needing less stars to unlock lessons.

I like the fact that you also have side quests as it adds to the game but some have unrealistic targets such as ‘friendship to 10’ ‘buy a cat’ when it takes a very long time to go up 1 friendship level or collect books. It further takes away a lot of energy from the story itself or may not have enough energy to complete the quest as there are so many elements (especially on the 3 day tasks). I am enjoying the quidditch though.

I understand the game is meant to be played over a period of time, but when you enjoy it and you have the time you want to play more, it’s hard trying to stop myself from spending money when you don’t have any. The novelty of playing I think may wear off.

Honestly I would usually give the game 4 stars - I love it and it’s a great time waster but my sister hated it because you can’t play it continuously without paying lots of money to skip waiting times.

Today it has crashed nearly 5 times. I don’t mind this because it has recovered my progress every time and automatically forwarded me to an email to the programmers asking for me to write what was happening when the error happened and what may have caused it.

However - the paying thing is starting to annoy me for another reason. Because of lockdown I am very invested in the game at the moment and there is a challenge going on. As a hufflepuff I am already at a disadvantage in the main competition (we have less members so normally get thrashed bu Gryffindor and Ravenclaw) and there are lots of people out there who do pay to skip the waits so do also have an advantage on the challenges. The thing is I was properly winning the in-house contest (I had 52 points and the next closest was 36) without paying when suddenly I am in second. I may be a sore loser but there is no way that its possible to gain 172 points in maybe a day of competition gaining 2 or 3 points an hour at most.

There is no way anyone can dream of competing with that - and there is no second prize for in-house so...

Good overall game,absolutely fantastic gripping storylines,could do with some new clothing items as these haven’t changed or increased since release,maybe special weekly clothing could spice that area up? And possibly even special weekly or monthly pets to aim for too! The main hog warts characters are awesome! And I love the quests! And quest activities,they really kept this interesting,awesome job devs!

The thing that’s really bugging me is that the app repeatedly force closes every couple of minutes,most times I can’t even get through a single quest without it force closing me outta there,it’s becoming increasingly irritating and very frustrating as I have to repeatedly keep going over stuff I’ve already completed :( so I’ve deducted 1 star for this issue until fixed or uninstalled (which I’m hoping to avoid but as I said it’s getting increasingly irritating and frustrating,I’d be happy to provide deets if you want to look into this issue or point me in the right direction as to where I can make a big report if that helps).

Every once in a while I'll redownload the game and am desperate to get back into it.

The graphics and animation is awesome, I love how much you can customise your character, there's lots of events running to win prizes, the dialogue is cute and I have fun remembering the little quirks.

But within ten minutes I am reminded each time of why I keep uninstalling the game. I understand the nature of time based games, and needing to wait to refill your energy etc. and I also understand how the Devs need to make money. But it's so extreme that I will play for five minutes and then not be able to do anything at all for a good couple of hours, come on and use up my energy and then disappear again. There's not enough to do to consistently play without paying for extra things. I've fallen into the trap and paid money on the game before, and it did make it far more fun, for a couple of hours and I was back to being super bored and falling out of interest with the game again. I know it's the nature of the game, but there really should be some more side mini games to do while you wait for energy to come back up. The chatting wi5h friends was a nice addition but once you've done it, sometimes you have to wait 7 bloody hours - that's not quelling my growing lack of interest in the game. I'm sad to say I'm probably going to uninstall the game again, because the effort to keep up retention on this game just feels non existent.

I absolutely love the game. As soon as I saw it I was like, ‘Mom, can I get this game?’ I love it how you can adopt pets, duel with people, change your avatar into cool clothes, attend to different classes and much more! There are a few things that bother me though. Firstly, you have to pay so many diamonds just to get an owl or a cat. Also, when I started Year 2, at the welcoming feast, when Dumbledore finished his speech (“Anyway, enough with my blabbering, tuck in!”), it would freeze and then just send me back to the home screen on my iPad.

I didn’t know what was happening, and I tried to fix it but it didn’t change a thing. After about a week, out of the blue, it started working again. Then, three days later it steed working. It went on and off for a whole month! At the end, I had to delete it. Then I re-installed it and to my relief I didn’t have to start over again. I don’t know if this is happened to anyone else but if yes then please try and fix it.

Last but not least, it takes ages (four whole minutes!) to get just one energy thing. Please could you change the time to one min thirty seconds or something like that in your next update? On the other hand, it’s an amazing game, you should totally get it!

Know I have seen a lot of reviews for this game and they could probably explain it better but i will briefly summarise it its all out of line the pay to play with the gems and the energy system is pants and it’s just a weak and it’s just the Harry Potter story just recycled and you can barely do anything so with that summary/mini rant

I am going to say what I think a lot of people can agree we need an open world RPG preferably on computer consoles and mobile devices and with knew technology like with Google’s new console were can play on any device so here is what I would like to see you can create your character explore a massive world like in assassins creed and you can create your own backstory make choices that effect you and others like in fallout and the elder scrolls and you could go on after Hogwarts it’s just some ideas but you can see how much more free and fresh it is and would be very accessible and I imagine massively successful so if J.K Rowling is still looking to make money then maybe this will make it rain but that is one humble girl’s opinion anyway I know it’s long but I know that people need to see this but I won’t keep you anymore and remember take it one day at time bye 👋🏻😉

This is a great game and I highly recommend it but there are a few things wrong with it. The first time you play it, it is really fun but then it just repeats everything and it only changes when you go up a year so it gets a bit boring. Also when you play it, you have to have energy to do everything and you can’t even finish a lesson without running out of energy so you have to wait for hours until you can carry on, but by then the lesson says you have run out of time and you have to start all over again. I would love it if you didn’t have to have energy and you could just play the game freely. The last thing is that nothing exciting happens like in the books, where loads of disasters happen every year and there is a whole battle with Voldemort and Harry is like a ‘survivor of Voldemort’. Other then that the game is good and actually looks like Hogwarts (I don’t know if Hogsmede looks as good, if there is a Hogsmede, as I am only in my second year). I hope you change these problems and maybe make the game a bit better with like a battle and stuff. It is still a good game though and I would kind of recommend it. 👍🥳

I’ve been playing this game for a while now. There are many aspects that I appreciate but I have to complain about the nature of events. The time frame given to complete events and get the final rewards is ridiculously small and almost impossible to complete without wasting a ton of hard-earned gems. This game revolves around real-time, no casual player wants to be waking up at 3am to complete an event because there’s no other option. It only angers people. I’ve almost deleted the game multiple times because of it (it doesn’t help when the game glitches and restarts a lesson - this has been a problem from the start, surely you can sort that by now) and it has never motivated me to spend real money on gems, because they are extremely overpriced.

If you made the time frame a bit longer, the rewards more rewarding (I have practically no magical creatures because getting notebooks is ridiculously difficult. I no longer bother with this feature which could potentially be great) and the gems cheaper, more people would purchase gems and be eager to play this game. I have stopped playing this game for weeks because of getting annoyed by the events or glitches in the lessons. It in no way makes people want to make in-app purchases, it frustrates them. You seriously need to look at this balance. Good games are challenging, bad games are impossible.

The story is good and I want to see where it goes. However I do agree with other reviewers that are saying the game is too expensive and the wait times are too long. I won’t repeat what they have said, but I will add my own point.

I am currently in year 4 (after over 2 months and a few small gem purchases but I digress!) and I am currently in the middle of the “Collect Creatures” side story line. Now, the side tasks require so much energy that I have not completed any of the actual story after 2 days. I am only doing this to get more gems BTW. Not only that, but there is now a “House Pride” event going on at the same time! It is now the case that I am ignoring both the main story and the house pride event because without purchasing the £100 gem package it is impossible to do more than 1 at a time.

Also, you need to have meals with friends to increase your friendship level to unlock different mission choices with them, but you only have 3 places to do this and once done it takes anywhere from 9 to 15 hours to become available again! It’s way too long!

The game is ok, but it could be great if the amount of gems required to purchase energy was reduced, the in game purchases were cheaper, the amount of time and energy required to complete a lesson and friendship meals was reduced.

I’ve been waiting for my letter for a long, long, time. Obviously the main quibble is that the energy runs out so fast, so I only ever play in very short spurts. It’s probably a good thing as I wouldn’t be very productive otherwise but I’d love to spend a little bit longer in-app.

Secondly, what is the point of the side adventures if you can’t complete them? It’s clear you want us to spend money in the app so we can continue playing, which to me is exploitative. There isn’t enough time, especially when you have to wait 8 hours for the next step, or when each step is an 8 hour quest and the adventure runs out in 4. I’ve found that the less time you have, the longer the steps are before you can complete.

Young people are playing this game, and expecting them to pay £100 for a “trainload” of gems is dangerous. Another user pointed out that you’d pay £30-£50 for a much more immersive, less repetitive video game, and they’re right. This is unnecessary. I figure the developers want people to play for as long as possible, but you’ll have more players and we’d be much happier if there was a little more to play for. The Harry Potter fandom is a loyal and dedicated group; if the game is good we’ll play again, but having to repeat the same lessons in Year 5 as we did in year 1 is tedious, and it just means you’ll lose us for good.

Please lower the prices and make the lessons/side quests/adventures shorter and more fulfilling.

I totally LOOOOVE Harry Potter and therefore I love this game. I like how realistic it is and the element of mystery. I also like how it’s before Harry actually went to hog warts so you can meet some of his mentors when they were younger. I love the customisation and lessons and the pets you can get. I like duelling and the conversations and how you can play gobstones in the courtyard and eat a meal in the great hall with a friend of your choice. I really like the clothes and my friends. I haven’t got that far in the game; I’m just in like chapter five or something, but I can already tell I’m gonna be playing it for a very long time.

There is one thing though; the energy points. I HATE having to waiting I don’t really want to spend money on gems so i can buy more energy, so I always end up playing some other game while I wait. Also it’s really annoying when I’m halfway through completing a lesson and then I run out of energy so I go do something else for a bit only to pick up my phone and discover that the lesson had ended and I have to do it all over again. I think a pint of energy should be charged every one minute or like thirty seconds so you can complete things quicker. I do like how you can pick up energy from random stuff in the corridors but I wish there were more [sources of energy].

Anyway I really enjoy this game, and definitely recommend it to all other gamers and potterheads.💖

This game is great! I love the new update where you can have pets! There are just a few things which annoy me about it. A lot of people think that the energy takes to long to recharge but I think it is fine. One thing that annoys me is that you have to wait 3 hrs or over just to have a really quick, small conversation with a teacher or friend and then you have to wait another 3 or more hrs to do the next thing. If you could change it so we don’t have to wait as long to do the smallest things. Another thing that annoys me is that when we have to unlock lessons you have to collect loads of stars to then be able to have them. But then you have to wait another few hours for your energy to recharge enough to play it. I think you should either reduce the amount of stars you have to get or just let us be able to play the lessons straight away. Also if you could make winning house points a bit easier because we barely earn any in lessons but we lose them like that when we have a talk with a teacher. I really like this game so far, but I find the player’s character rather bland. I think an awesome addition would be to add personality customisation, such as in the Sims, to give a bit more character and different layers to the avatar. At the minute, every other sentence appears to be “Yes, but is it something to do with the Cursed Vaults?” And it’s rather repetitive and same-y. I understand that’s how the story moves along but I really think something different is needed every once in a while, which is why I think personality attributes would be a great addition as a small digression from the storyline every now and again. Something like the Sims would be perfect, just some options like “animal lover” or “bookworm” so you can develop deeper relationships with people who like that as well, such as Charlie Weasley or Professor Kettleburn, if you like animals as well. Or have a longer “Meal With A Friend” with Penny and quiz each other if you love Potions. I just think the player’s avatar needs a lot more personality. I understand it’s difficult to please everyone and the pets were a great addition, but this is one of the next big things which I’ve heard many people complain about, and I think it should really be addressed. Thanks so much.

This game has excellent graphics and a compelling premise, that of being a new hogwarts student aiming to make an impact, learn and also discover mysteries about your older brother.

However, the actual game play needs a lot more variety as it is. Every class involves basically tapping a button several times, tracing a line, timing a tap and answering a question or two. This doesnt vary at all between different subjects making it become dull. I’m still playing it, but it is far too dragged out and boring as a result.

For example, i’m in year 2 and to do the first flying lesson, you have to basically repeat everything you already did in year one several times just to unlock the new lesson, which itself is exactly the same as every other. I think it needs a bit of a revision.

In terms of the monetisation i’m sure it’s been extremely profitable for the creators so i hope it can be reinvested into making for a more varied and fun gameplay.

I think the option to spend £100 in one go is a bit exploitative because some younger kids may be desperate to continue playing and feel that it’s their only option. Full console games are less than half that price and they offer so much more so i think the prices should be reduced. Personally, i just intermittently play it and dont purchase the in game things.

I know this opinion has been shared many times before,but it seems that you DO NOT exactly get the point:THIS GAME IS HORRENDOUS! At first I was willing to forgive this ‘game’(if you can even call it that)for the fact you have to wait for energy in order to do simple and easy gameplay. I have been trying to ‘like’ the game,however such an act would unheard of. Like many others I was lured into this ‘game’ because of the opportunity to go to Hogwarts and create your own character. I know many people have written about the fact ‘The Devils Snare’ encounter in year 1 and the ‘energy crisis’,but I am going bring a new subject to this argument:copying the Harry Potter series. Even though this game has not developed to the 7th year of Hogwarts,there have been some parts of the story which have been CLEARLY been taken from Harry’s time at Hogwarts,for example:in the beginning of the ‘game’ we meet a character named Rowan,he/she is rather intelligent and logical like Hermione,when you go to the dungeons for the first time you meet a Slytherin called Merula Synde who has criminal parents just like Draco,also in your first year you come across a locked door in a forbidden corridor just like Harry,Hermione and Ron did except you changed it by making the same except you made the characters different. In conclusion,this was an unpleasant experience I hope no one will have to endure.

I played this game for a little bit over 2 weeks, and I think it’s repetitive, inaccurate and it’s just a way for the players to squander all their money on in-game purchases that aren’t even worth it. For example, the measly maximum amount of energy. They give the maximum amount of 24 energy points which can be used up so swiftly but take 4 minutes to gain 1 point. This is just a way to say that once you’ve used up all your energy, you either have to pay up to carry on, or wait a ridiculous amount of time just so that you can keep playing.

Another reason why this is such a horrible game is the graphics. You can compare them to the Sims free play, which is also quite bad. The graphics and emotes that respond to the occurrence your character is just unrealistically bad.

And don’t get me started on how the ‘gameplay’ is, it’s just you tapping on your screen, wasting all your energy points with the occasional swiping on the screen and you’ll have to wait or pay up once more to carry on playing.

In overall consideration, this is not my favourite but if you like it, keep playing it. I just find it to be a reason for easy monetisation inspired by a popular book series/series of movies. I cannot even say that it is based off the Hart Potter franchise because it is so inaccurate to the actual book and even the movie.

So glad it’s finally here. I like the graphics, I like the characters, I like the whole premise of attending lessons. I like the music. So thankyou developers, in general it’s a good step in the right direction

The main thing I’d change is the outdated energy allowance, seriously guys, I want to play it for a while, not a few minutes here and there. please rethink that part of it, no way am I buying energy, it’s just frustrating.

It would be nice if you could explore more, go forward and back rather than just left to right, I’m hoping it won’t be a short game but not sure at this point

On a side note....When, oh when will someone build a Harry Potter world where we can build our characters and interact with other people across the world, where we can explore and do mini games like with the LEGO Harry Potter but not just hogwarts, where we can build and buy and sell and go on quests like the console harry potters, where we can explore the whole Harry Potter world like second life ....it would be so popular! Ok so maybe it would be too big for iOS etc but maybe not I don’t know, I’d buy it in whatever form it took, I was hoping this was somewhat like that. But for what it is I do like it so thankyou

This game is really cool. Ever since Pottermore became more of a news website I’ve been waiting for something else to come out like this. Now, there’s an even better interactive Harry Potter game AND it’s on your phone so you can play it anywhere. The graphics are great, it runs smoothly and has quick downloads even on my IPhone 6. Overall an awesome game.

My only problem would be the Energy count. In the game, you use energy to complete tasks, and you can only have so much at once (24). Once you’ve used all of your energy, you have to wait four minutes for another point and a full 96 mins (1hr and 36 mins) for 24 energy points! You can purchase energy with diamonds, but it’s expensive and diamonds are also hard to get. You can also buy diamonds but you need to pay real money for diamonds in the store. I get this is how the game makes money and also I get the time thing is meant to make you spread out the time in which you play but sometimes it’s super frustrating when you just want to get something done but you have no energy. Besides this, a great game that I really enjoy playing so I’m giving it 4 stars.

I enjoy the story concept and the characters that you can become friends with, along with the fact it is set a during before the events of the books.

However, it is infuriating that most of the time during tasks you run out of energy. Which either makes you wait around half a hour or use the gems (that have been collected) to purchase more energy. The prices for energy are unreasonable as for a full bar of 30 it's 55 gems and 10 energies is 20 gems which at the very beginning of the game you don't have. Which seems to force you into using the micro transactions to continue playing.

So if your doing Y1 Ch. 2 you are stuck watching your character being strangled by Devils Snare until the energy replenishes when waiting. Which can mean if you go away and come back to the game and the time limit for the activity runs out you lose most of that progress up to the last star in the activity bar reached. Forcing you restart the activity.

Another thing is the game play itself is repetitive. With questions during lessons being repeated or having to gain a certain number of stars to advance the lesson that teaches you a spell/potion or for flying lessons. Which are obtained by doing lessons in that subject by tapping things highlighted in blue to fill a bar within a set time limit ranging from 1hr to 5hrs.

More waiting than gameplay!!

Started playing this two days ago and it’s lovely! The general theme and gameplay is really great with some different ideas and nice details. The storyline is really interesting and pulls you in. BUT the ‘energy’ thing is terrible! I get that they want us to spend a bit of money on it but you literally can’t play the game for more than 10 minutes before you have to wait (4 mins per 1 energy), which is so frustrating!! Also, when you’ve finished a task and you have another one, often you have to wait 2-4 hours for it to become available (or pay a lot of money) and there’s nothing else you can do! They have your character being strangled by a plant but no, let’s just rest for 40 mins before we have another go at trying to escape.

I really like this game but it’s bordering on unplayable. If they could reduce the wait time so you could at least perform one task without waiting (so you could explore etc while it recharges) and definitely have other things to do if you have to wait 4hours for a task to be ready, then it would be amazing! I would be hooked and I’m sure more likely to spend the odd 99p!

I adore the concept of this game, Hogwarts in an app is genius and it has so much potential! However, I am finding levelling up in this game tedious, as energy depletes very fast and you have to physically wait for it to refill, even if I’m in the middle of a task. If I exit the app at all during this time it reloads to the beginning of the task I started, meaning I have to listen to the dialogue, re-do the steps I’d just taken. The only way to complete a task so far is to wait in-game watching the timer refill one point of energy every 4 minutes (it takes more than 25 points to complete a task)!

I love the fact you can design your character and choose a name and your house, and find it exciting to be able to unlock more customisation throughout gameplay, but I’d prefer not to have to save up coins to purchase these, as I’m already trying to save to build up my skill level and energy, and it seems you unlock things which cost more than you can achieve on each level.

Overall enjoying the game and looking forward to meeting more characters, but a few tweaks here and there definitely needed.

I’ve been waiting for this game ever since I heard they were making a new Harry Potter game. It’s been a very long wait. The best Harry Potter game for the mobile, in my opinion, was and still is Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4, and unfortunately the updates stopped coming and the game is no longer available on the iPhone. Not happy! However, this new game came out. I’ve waited so long for this! It’s great to start with. You choose and customise your character and arrive at Diagon Alley. Your sorted into your chosen house and it goes on from there. You follow a dialogue, a mystery about your brother. You make friends, complete lessons, etc. But the only frustrating thing with this game is the energy source that you are constantly having to wait to refill. This takes 4 mins each time and you have to keep coming back every 30 mins to an hour so that you’ve got enough energy to complete your task. This is not far to loyal fans of Harry Potter and I think we’ve had to wait long enough for great HP game in Hogwarts. This game will take forever to finish and I’m not the kind of person who spends money on In-App purchases. I love the game but I feel like we’ve been robbed of something that could be so much greater!!! 😩😱😤🤔😡

As an avid HP fan, to play a new game regarding it was something I was really excited about, but it’s been a huge letdown. I’m fairly easily entertained, but to run out of energy after maybe 1/4 of a lesson to then have to wait another couple of hours to complete is ridiculous.

This game is literally pay to play and very expensive at that might I add. God forbid any kids spending on this awful game to have their parents find an extortionate bill! I honestly can’t fathom how the producers of this thought it was a good idea to be honest. The graphics are wonderful, the plot I was enjoying, even the way I have to progress through the game is fine, but the wait times, the expense and having only 3 minutes of gameplay every 3 hours is appalling, it really is. I’d much prefer to just buy the game outright than put up with the horrid mess which validates it being free.

If there’s a game to copy from it’s Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The producers of that game understood what it is to make a free game. You don’t need to pay to advance quickly whatsoever, you don’t have to wait hours on end to complete 1/4 of a task, there’s plenty to do in between waiting for other events and I felt that the gameplay was beyond fantastic for such a simple game. HP Hogwarts Mystery is entirely the opposite. I’ve deleted the app due to the sheer money-making scam that it is.

I love Harry Potter and was so excited to download this game. Unfortunately, it seems like the devs only focus was to get as much money as they can out of this game. You play the game, run out of energy after a minute or so, wait over an hour to get it refilled. Tasks are timed so if they are not completed within a certain time frame, you have to start again (combined with having to wait for energy makes it very difficult if you have other commitments during the day). And then, there you have to wait - sometimes over three hours - to simply start the next task. Of course, the only way around this is to pay money. I did look at getting a bundle, but they were very expensive and would only give me a couple of extra minutes play time.

I understand the concept of free to play games, and having to wait. But the wait times are too long and play times are too short. I enjoy playing games like this for around half an hour before work, but this would be impossible with this game. I think the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a good example of how a free to play game should be done. It is possible to play for free when it suits you (obviously there are still wait times) but the paid bundles are no too expensive and a feel worthwhile. I have spent money on Pocket Camp because of this, but there is no way I am spending money on this game in its current state.

I am a huge fan of this game personally and I think the graphics are stunning and the classes are a load of fun and it really helps people feel like they are in hogwarts . But my only problem is that the energy you have to wait 4 minutes to get. I spent two hours doing a single task trying to finish it and get the prizes I worked ages for and then in the end I just completely lost and had to do it again because I didn’t have enough energy to finish it. The only way to get energy quick is buying it which I think is wrong , yes you need to get money from the app somehow but this is an app targeted at the younger kids and there will be ones who are eager to finish the game and spend all their savings on it because they are so excited to be in hogwarts and it’s wrong that this is the case. Two minutes should be the maximum that we wait like I don’t want to have to delete this app because i can’t win anything due to energy. Some of us can’t afford to spend our money on energy every 10 minutes and we don’t want to wait hours to do new tasks or else we have to pay. This app was supposed to be free but most of it requires purchase which shows fake advertising to the Harry Potter fans who waited months for this. Again like I said this app is everything I wanted but the energy is a problem
