I seriously havnt put this games down for months, its so adictive. There is also now a tone of new content for it too. My only criticisms are that there are some bugs in the game that have prevented me from completing all of the missions such as engineers not planting explosives when ordered too. I still love it though but would be awesome if the devs fixed this bug

I find this amazing game however there are some features that I think would help a lot

1 I think you should ad a feature where halftracks could tow AT guns and nebelwerfer and maybe add some more upgrades to the halftracks such as mortars and anti tank guns

2 another thing I think would be great is if you add trucks which can transport infantry and artillery

3 the last thing I would recommend adding are Higgins boats as they would make maps like pointe du hoc in skirmish a lot cooler

This was one of my favourite pc games years ago and been waiting for it to come across to Xbox....never did but was overjoyed to see an iPad version...but , Came control and unit placing isn’t quite right, it is slow an unresponsive at times, also the skirmish difficulty level isn’t quite right in fact even easy cpu opponent settings seem unusually hard compared to the campaign which was never that easy, if they could add iPad mouse support to this I think it would work much better, still I do enjoy it a lot maybe a bit power hungry but bear that in mind don’t be far from a charger if you never played the pc version or was a fan it’s still a decent game

Still an excellent game, but wondering whether an update is needed to deal with some glitches that seem to have emerged since ios17.3. One being the “guider on arrival needed” message. Which means no commandos can be delivered in the last British scenario.

I’ve progressed through to the campaign at Arnhem to capture the bridge, but the game freezes 2/3s of the way through the game, every time I play it. On one occasion there were pink distortions across the screen. It freezes at the same point, after moving east to attack the church on the eastern side of the map. When the game freezes nothing works and the only solution is to close the game and restart it.

The game now freezes almost immediately after opening it up. I am using an iPad Pro with IOS 16.3, yet this game appears too demanding for even my iPad.

There are still a lot of bugs to fix, which started after I bought and downloaded Operation Market Garden.

I played CoH on PC from when it first came out and my iPad is considerably faster and more powerful than the PC I played the game on, and the conclusion can only be, it is full of bugs.

It is disappointing as I love this game.

I am now trying a re installation????

Brilliant game which works exceptionally well on my iPad Pro. I dithered for ages given the price but it has been great value and I ended up buying all the expansions. The gameplay is great and working through each mission has been challenging. One or two crashes in hours and hours of gameplay, quite possibly because I had too many apps running, but generally faultless. I have missed loads of medals so a massive opportunity for repeat play if you are so inclined. This is by far one of the best games I have ever played during my years of owning an iPad and took me back to my days of console playing. Thanks for an excellent port. I just need to find something else that lives up to CoH now!

Great and probably the best game is now very painful to play due to lack of bug fixes by the team. Constantly crashing during skirmish mode, uninstalled and reinstalled, dumped saved games etc, now unplayable. Update, still no contact from developers, crashed 55 times over the past 5 days. Emails sent on each time it crashed, don’t waste your money. Update - still crashing, followed advice via this review and developers have ignored all emails detailing crash information. Very very poor customer service.

As someone who downloaded the game when it first got ported to iPhone and bought each expansion as they came out, it’s extremely disappointing to now have the game be unplayable. I used to play the game on an iPhone 8 & 9, only ever had a few crashes, I’ve been playing on an iPhone 12 for a while now and it was much better at first, better graphics and ran much smoother, in the past month I simply have not been able to play the game at all, I will get 15 minutes into a campaign game and the app will crash, I get half an hour into a skirmish and the app will crash, I’ve restarted the app, restarted my phone, nothing seems to change this. I hate having to give the game only 3 stars as I genuinely love it and have put plenty of hours into it, when it runs, it’s the best game to have in your phone, but at this moment in time it couldn’t be any more infuriating. Please fix this!

It’s worth to buy, but still plenty of room for impovement. The intro graphics are bad. The ingame graphics are good. The units are often can’t find the right side of the cover and they simply die on the wrong side of the cover. Also the control buttons are taking up to much spase. They shoud be collapsible. Also throwing grenade is wierd, because only one guy throwing it but the whole scuad runing with him. So keep guys work on it.

This is most probably the best mobile game I have played. It’s pretty much a direct rip from the desktop version from 2005, with same logic and concepts.

Took me a few hours to get used to the touch screen, and it’s definitely easier to make user errors. But it’s amazing how I can just whip it out and play with myself.

Hoping they release some new maps or match the new COH3 for desktop.

Loved this game on its initial PC release and I still love it now. The only thing that lets it down are clunky controls. It doesn’t matter which option of control you use they are both let down by this especially when putting down razor wire, mines, trenches, sandbags etc. When you’re under pressure and have to think on your toes and quickly there’s a lot of trial and error and troop losses purely down to the controls when it could have been made so much simpler.

Still, it’s an excellent game and a very good port from the original. If you master the controls, you won’t find a better game in this genre on the App Store.

I originally played this years ago on PC and have played COH2 on PC too and this is such a good port. The graphics are great for tablet, the touch controls are really intuitive although there is still a little to learn and the performance is amazing on my IPad Pro

Its been a while but its does just bring memories back and seems the same as the OG game i played on PC. Amazing port! Let’s hope they can pull COH2 out the bag one day!

I’ve always been a fan of CoH and was excited to see it come to the apple store. This is a great game and is great to play. The controls are easy when you get used to them.

However I recently downloaded opposing front and since then the game crashes every time I play.

I’m sure at some some point soon this will be resolved but for now this game is unplayable. When this is fixed is a definite download.

I recently updated to the new M1 iPad Pro 11”, I wanted to try out this game having purchased it a while ago but never played it really. I’m blown away with its performance and usability. It’s fantastic. I enjoy RTS like StarCraft 2, and whilst this is set in WW2, it’s the closest to this on the App Store that’s premium paid for. And it works brilliantly on the iPad.

True to the PC game, always been a fan, but half way through the campaign the game starts crashing, (yes my iPad is up to date, have done fresh install and everything else including submission of crash report). I enjoyed what I managed to get out of it but unfortunately for me it was money wasted. If you have a PC I’d suggest sticking to it for this game.

Being a massive CoH fan I am overwhelmed with what the Devs have done to bring this RTS game to IOS. Nothing short of ground breaking and is the new bench mark for all future games. Unlimited longevity addictive play ahead and no greedy gem purchases in sight. This is how a game should be. TRULY the best game available on IPad Pro. Recommend using a Bluetooth mouse to enhance playability.

The game has been a pleasure to play and has been something to keep me busy during my breaks at work but unfortunately when I wasn’t impressed by the fact that you have to purchase each mission in order to play the general campaign, it’s like buying a motorcycle and then have it turning up with no engine, it’s great that you have the bike but in order to really enjoy it, you’ll obviously have to purchase the engine and it’s the same with this game, I do believe that if your going to charge for each mission of the campaign why was it not included within the whole price of the game itself ? Again the game is fantastic and I would recommend to anyone but not happy about the hidden extra fees :(

The campaign best has been having some issues I have restarted the game multiple times and same issue I have got to the bridge and when about to blow it it won’t go to blow it when I click on it it just goes to the middle of the bridge and when I go on the option tab to blow the bridge they don’t do nothing so I can’t move on with the campaign until it is fixed can you do a patch update and fix this please.

So after months and months and hundreds of hours of play, I finally snapped last night and mentioned to my girlfriend that I hoped they would release the expansions soon as new content.

It turns out without me knowing until this morning when the game sent me a notification to inform me, that yesterday was the day when they released two new campaigns.

One is slightly buggy but I’m sure it will be fixed soon, but otherwise happily awaiting the final expansion for the game and dreaming of a mobile port of COH2

Fair enough it’s different from key and mouse but controls are not that responsive and feel overly complicated. Reading reviews from over a year ago and they haven’t been fixed obviously, such a shame as this mobile version is quite good otherwise. The HUD is also quite oversized and takes up a lot of screen view.

Deleted the app after tutorial and 1st mission. What a waste.

This is a decent straight up port of the PC classic; Company of Heroes. It plays incredibly smooth on my 2019 iPad pro, I'm already 10+ hours in to the campaign and skirmish modes respectively and there hasn't been a single crash, or any obvious bugs to note. Yes converting from a mouse to a touch screen takes a little getting used to, but once you've mastered the ergonomic change you wont look back..... I mean its Company of Heroes in your pocket..... I bet you never saw that coming in 2005!? This in my opinion is how tablet games should be made and played I.e. single one-off payment, no mucking about, get what you pay for game that you'll keep you entertained for hours. Big kudos to the developers who have kept true to the original formula and DNA, please keep rolling back the years with more content/games.

I’ve not had a pc capable of running CoH for years so this was a very welcome addition to iOS and worth every penny. It runs on mobile a lot better than I thought possible and the game is exactly the same fun. New content should be a must though. The campaign doesn’t take too long to beat if you’ve already played the game and skirmishes quickly become a bit stale once you’re at a reasonable skill level. Opposing fronts would be a nice addition (although I’d not be surprised if we were expected to pay for it as a separate game upon release), as would multiplayer. Looking forward to whatever you guys decided to give us!

Really enjoying playing the game, graphics are decent and there’s plenty of missions and skirmishes to keep you entertained. Only issue I’m having is building defences. If I tap and hold and drag to build sand bags/barbed wire/mines it will just pan the camera across the screen to where I’m trying to end the build. Ideally when you are in build mode it should disable the camera movement to allow me to build in one spot and confirm the build.

Apart from that issue the game is great. Looking forward to purchasing more games if they bring more classics back like Napoleon Total War!

I’ve finished the campaign and love the game, also ex pc player but it really is perfect for an iPad. My only issue is it crashes a lot when I make a new save and doesn’t save it, can be frustrating but I like the game enough to replay my previous save and hope it doesn’t crash again the next time I save it which it does about 1/5 saves.

Also please release the two expansion packs as well as CoH2

Absolutely brilliant , good graphics , really detailed and realistic . If you are looking for a game to pass hours and days then look no further . It is VERY addictive and sets the new high standard for iPhone games . Highly recommended

CoH was always one of my favourite PC games (alongside MOHAA). This iPad version is brilliant. Really faithful to the original game. On top of this, the latest update has also tweaked a few things to make it even better. Hugely recommended for anyone who loves RTS. An absolute must buy for anyone who loves WWII RTS! Just looking forward to further updates. Perhaps the British!? ;-)

I really enjoy playing the game, that is until it crashes which it does all the time when playing skirmishes, sometimes the controls aren’t very responsive too unfortunately. The AI seems to get tanks really quickly too, I’ve barely got mortars then the enemy comes in with two or three tanks and kills all my men, good game with a few too many flaws.

My favourite game on the PC and one which I frequently return to. This conversion to iOS is excellent, especially as I prefer playing the campaigns to multiplayer or skirmish. However you will be disappointed if you like the PC version for its multi player - it’s not available. I hope the developer can bring the CoH sequels out following the success of this.

Firstly I’m so glad this game is available on iPad, Thankyou Feral Interactive:)

There seems to be an issue with the latest iPad Pro in that the graphics are set to the lowest resolution, blurry textures, no shadows, and there’s no difference between turning battery saver off or on. My game looks nothing at all like the screenshots or like the playthroughs I’ve watched on YouTube...do you have an eta on when this is likely to be addressed? Can’t wait to play the game as it was originally envisioned...

This is a brilliant port of an excellent game but there are a few things a miss:

I’ve completed the goals on the St Lo mission but it won’t progress 🤨

AI is terrible, enemy units will sit and get hit without reacting. AT gun emplacements, for instance, will sit and get attacked from the flanks and rear without redeploying to engage 🥱

There is a skirmish mode, which is good, but no online multiplayer option 🙁

Too easy to cheese the levels.. just sit back and let the resource counters fill up. Population cap of 75 is restrictive, i've rarely had to use troop special abilities, can’t destroy buildings once they’re built (or if you can it isn’t obvious how)...

I’ve played it loads, so it’s killed some time but for fourteen quid it’s lacking some essential polishing... one of the over riding fails is the lack of an online multiplayer option...

Had this game on my Mac and played it for years on and off. The iPad version is a faithful copy, but... it crashes all the time, totally unacceptable for a game that costs £14.. get it sorted developers! I send a crash log every time, so don’t ask me to get in touch to give details.

All problem is trying to get units to face the ⎌right direction is challenging, particularly if you are fighting battles in different places on the map. Also if an AT unit is getting attacked from the side, it doesn’t move or react, which would obviously not happened in a real attack.

This game could be amazing, but is let down in a number of areas..

As a massive fan of the game on pc it really made me happy to see it on iPad. Ive played the game since the say it was released and I’ve loved every second of it. The campaign is still amazing despite having played it before on pc. Even then when you finish the campaign there is an amazing variety of skirmishes that you can customise to your liking. 10/10. Will always play again

Overall this is a pretty good port from the original PC version I enjoyed years ago. I imagine most buying this game would fall under the same category but for those who have not played before, this is a classic RTS that was quite groundbreaking at the time of realise.

After a little getting used to the touch screen controls are good but obviously not quite the same as keyboard and mouse. Perhaps support for these will be added in the future now the iPad supports mouse input as of 13.4.

The graphics seem to have been toned down and even on my iPad Pro it gets a little choppy which is a pity. The main thing I miss and wish could have been included was the rag-doll physicals on units. This made the action much better as stuff exploded and flew everywhere.

Despite these limitations I would still say it is worth the buy to have this fantastic game within the connivence of an iPad. Being able swipe the game away in the morning, use the iPad in the day, then open up at exactly the same point that evening is pretty great.

Constant multiple crashes at varying points. Making playing this game infuriating. Each time I have sent a crash log to developer. I tried contacting them and received a generic reply asking me to list what I was doing each time it crashed. What are crash logs for??? I restarted my iPad as they suggested and it makes no difference to crashing. I am still waiting a reply from developers to my last mail. I would steer clear of this game until bugs fixed. 🤬

Like many others I had difficulties getting this game to run smoothly. Feral were in constant contact assuring me directly that it would be fixed, after one week they’ve been true to their word. The final fix seemed only to take effect after I restarted my iPad, since then no problems.

This is a beautiful strategy game firmly in the vein of Rome Total War, without any diplomacy. On PC this was fun and the iPad is the perfect medium for this classic. The sound effects and voice acting have all been preserved, adding to an immersive experience.

A solid strategy game backed up by great visual effects and superb sound effects. A welcome addition to my games library.

Cherborg Glitch

Enjoying the game so far but when you get to the end of the cherborg mission and try to destroy enemy hq it doesnt advance or anything you just sit there waiting for the game to finish but it doesnt.. annoying as i restarted the mission to try fix the problem but nothing has helped.. any ideas or anyone else having this issue??

Great looking game, great game play but constantly crashes and when you come to reload the game it starts from the beginning of the mission, so disappointed to have lost gameplay. I shall be reluctantly asking for a refund as it’s pointless putting any time into it

Well, what can I say.

Totally addictive. Exceptional graphics, easy controls, great missions.....so far. One mission, so far has me beaten. It’s tempting to get annoyed, but you wouldn’t want this to be too easy, especially for the price. So refreshing to get a game that does not contain constant micro transactions.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this was on the App Store.

Having played both 1 & 2 on PC religiously (1 is much better though) I was shocked to see that a version for the IPad had been released.

It plays amazingly on my IPad Air 3rd gen and I’m impressed with the performance (not to sure if it’s a bug or intended but I noticed if I move around the map the frame rate seems to increase for a couple of seconds and then decrease back to 30fps).

Well worth the price tag in my option and sets a good standard for IPad ports.

Bravo.

Edit: Now what’s needed is the DLC and we will be golden! 👍

As usual getting used to touch controls takes a while. Issuing commands and grouping etc. I did the tutorials with both the command wheel and the old PC style boxes in bottom left hand corner. Couldn’t get to grips with the command wheel. I have noticed with old style you can pause the game and still issue commands. There was an issue with the very first mission that when you attacked the bunker in the top left corner of map it crashes, don’t know if it was fixed but I got round it. Only played 5 missions and couple of skirmishes. I did notice on Best map engineers even though the order was accepted they won’t repair bridges. The game itself, the graphics, the gameplay is just brilliant. Well worth the money. Looking forward to Opposing fronts maybe and and as always MTW2. For me the flipping of the maps in skirmish is not an issue. Adapt and overcome.

However, I'd like to see FULL Apple Pencil support. Currently it's not possible to perform all the actions, for example, two finger taps. Maybe make these pressure sensitive?

Lastly on an update 10.5 I can barely zoom out which makes me feel extremely restricted.

Very lastly, the fact the mini map doesn't rotate make it very difficult to navigate.

A well executed port from a much loved PC game. Would give a 5 star review if the following are included:

1. Can you enable the keyboard shortcuts? This would massively speed up the issuing of commands. I notice the number keys already select squads, and the arrow keys move the map, so looks like this is already partially implemented. How about T for retreat, R for reinforce, G for grenade ...etc just like the PC version!

2. The map does not rotate to match view orientation. This is kinda confusing. Can’t remember, but did the PC version or not.

3. Multiplayer please!!

I often don’t write reviews, but felt compelled to here. As a long time Company Of Heroes player I was so excited to hear that one of my all time favourites was coming to iOS.

The port performs well. I’ve completed the campaign many times over, so the big sale was the ability to play Skirmish mode mobile.

Yes it’s a downer there’s no multiplayer, but the real thing that stood out is no matter which position you started, the map will show you in the bottom left. This goes completely against the PC game.

If you happen to start in position 1 in say Angoville, the map is literally flipped 180. As a long time player it’s massively disorienting and throws you off. Yes you can change the camera rotation round. But both the bottom left map and tactical map are will still remain in a weird flipped position. Position 2 on the other hand is fine, as it starts in that position normally.

In Semois, because no starting position is bottom left, both positions have their maps rotated.

I totally don’t understand this decision. The PC version doesn’t do this. Please give us an option and choice in the settings for a return to its classic map behaviour. All those years playing the game and learning maps is kinda thrown off as soon as you get a rotated map. I’m hoping this is changed in the near future.
