This was truly exquisite,
I tried all the recipes this app had and it had a input in what it was
I believe this app is very cool as many would say and I believe it was also useful
Personally I like reading from an actual kindle but this surprised me (in a good way)
U should try this app out and see what u can find as it has many different books to choose from!!!

Poignant story. It to’s and fro’s from past to present with everyday encounters in Rika’s present life during her dementia years triggering things from her past. Many are terrifying past memories in times of conflict, interspersed with lovely moments with family, friends and lovers.
The story flows effortlessly between the two worlds. It portrays the harrowing life caught up in war torn countries and the horrible infliction of dementia on oneself and their loved ones. It’s very cleverly crafted. Well done Gail and thank you for this very moving story.

The app is pretty good.
Its stable, love that I can highlight words and find out the meaning of them.
Would benefit from more fonts and I don’t like that you can’t buy books through the app. You have to go through webpage to buy a book.
I deleted a book I was reading thinking it was the sample I was deleting. It wasn’t it was the full book.
Even though it showed up in my orders on Amazon webpage I couldn’t get the book back and had to re purchase it. So be very careful when deleting from the kindle app

Apple books are my prefered No1 choice when purchasing a book, but sadly when they don't stock offer it, l always see if it's available on Kindle. Just got rid of the big oversized Kindle icon that stuck out like a sore thumb on the dock in the "classic" version, the new updated version is much more user friendly easier interface to remove books & PDF's you no longer want.

I first read this book years ago on holiday and enjoyed it. So, when I came across it again whilst looking for something to read on my kindle I instantly downloaded it - and finished it in two days!
If you haven’t read yet, stop reading here!
I love the way Lucy (The author) takes a different approach in how Mia goes about dealing with the suspicion her partner is cheating.
I feel the book hits really personal with me as I have once been in this position and not wanted to confront my (then) partner for fear of the truth. I have also done some very Mia things and blamed the other woman instead of my cheating spouse.
I really felt for Mia and Liz in this book, they were both equally ill-treated by Pete.
Mia seemed to long for her happy ever after and thought she’d found that in Pete. Liz took all the blame though which was rough to read.
I would still highly recommend the book, it was a great read and I can’t wait to read more of Lucy’s work.

First of all, I love kindles and have relied on ebooks for the bulk of my readon for. a long time now. Recently, my macbook prompted me to download the more up to date app, replacing the old kindle app which was reliable and a pleasure to use. This latest app is almost totally unusable. Its interface means its constantly doing things I dont want it to do, and when I want to do something like change page, zoom our or pause, it invariably does something else, making the whole expeirence a deeply frustrating to the point where I avoid using the app.

I’ve had the Kindle app for some time now and it constantly freezes. To be honest I’m sick to death of it. I’ve looked at how to solve the problem and it recommends uninstalling then reinstalling the app. Given the amount of books and samples I have that is not going to happen.
The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it’s still a good idea and gives me access to books I could never hope to read. Reading new and favourite authors has never been so easy. That said I still love real books. Having the kindle app gives me the best of both worlds, kindle is particularly great for finding new authors. Unfortunately, for some reason, kindle now goes to the start of the book when I download it after reading the sample, whereas it used to start where the sample finished. One thing I wish it did do is to put books/samples in alphabetical order of authors in collections. It’s irritating having to have to look through a whole collection when looking for one particular author. Although I have lots of collections, some genre split into alphabetical groups, it would still be much better if they could be automatically put in a desired order in each collection.

Version 7.4
I cannot find a way to buy kindle books on my iPhone. The instructions online say to go to the kindle store website, but when I do I automatically get redirected to the Amazon app, where you can't buy kindle books. Infuriating! I then tried accessing the kindle store via the Amazon website, but to even view the website you have to prove you're not a bot, and there is no accessible option to do this if you are blind. So I think there is literally no way that I can buy books, which seems absolutely insane. They have lost a potential user.

Reading is my absolute life!! So kindle is the obvious choice for reading apps… there is a few major flaws in the app though and it drives me absolutely insane!!! Why when you finish a book does it not bring up the next book in the series?! Why do you have to go searching for the second, third & fourth etc etc book? I use Scribd a lot and while it isn’t perfect it is far superior in that sense! iBooks does the same… as soon as you finish one book it throws up an option to go to the next… it’s so simple yet so irritating! Also when you get to the end of a book and the authors details come up why can’t you tap on the author and all of their books on the app come up?! Complete miss on the apps behalf! Fix these and it will be literally perfect!!! It’s like an early 2000’s app trying to be cool in 2023! Why has this not been updated for iPhone? Very very strange!!!

I have a ridiculous number of books on kindle, a lot of them freebies or acquired when reduced, but I love the way it’s easy to organise them in folders and to highlight or add notes. It may be a gimmick but I enjoy seeing my reading stats…. How many days/ weeks consecutive reading for eg or how many kindle books read each year. I needed to downsize my actual library and kindle has helped. Though bookshelf space is a good excuse to purchase some new actual books! A few years ago forecasters gloomily predicted ebooks would kill print. I think it’s actually done a lot to reignite interest in books and publishers have stepped up to create beautiful new designs for books both new and old. So it seems to me that both media can coexist very well together for the foreseeable future.

Brilliant reading technological innovation

Version 7.0
Kindle is superb, allowing an extensive collection of literature and textbooks, amounting to over 4000 titles, which takes no space, travels everywhere with me, and is easily accessed at the touch of a finger.
Many of my Kindle volumes are textbooks, and there is still a lack of consistency in the digital formatting of textbooks for Kindle. Some academic publishers are better than others, and there is even inconsistency within titles by the same publisher, where one textbook is very well formatted, but another cannot present mathematical equations properly. This can be intensely frustrating.
Can we all work harder to ensure interactive consistency among digital book publishers who present books to the Kindle platform for purchase? Also, why do some publishers charge the same or more for the Kindle version of an academic book, compared to the printed version. This seems blatant nonsense!

I wish they wouldn’t keep adding bits

Version 6.87
it’s not a bad app, easy to use more or less but why do they keep adding bits you can’t get rid of? In particular that dreadful button about ‘see more reading insights’. I don’t want to see more reading insights. I don’t care about reading insights but there’s no getting rid of it. Otherwise, it might be nice, when you have kindle unlimited and you have all the titles youu’re allowed but there’s one you prefer, to be able to have another look at summaries so you can decide which one to return and borrow another time. Also, there’s no way to remove titles from your wish list on the app. there are three on mine, I don’t actually want any of them. I don’t like long series and i don’t read them since, in my experience, they’re mainly author ego massage but you can’t get rid of those either. As for the app itself well, as I say, fairly easy to use though some of the books are a pain to close with voiceover on. What tends to happen is you get a list of contents instead of ‘close book’ which is really annoying.

What’s not to like…?

2023-10-11
Version 6.87
In the fledgling days of using Kindle I did struggle adapting to the absence of experiencing the ‘feel’ of an actual book in your hands. However, I found very quickly that your reading appliance, whether it be the latest Kindle, or for me, my iPhone 14 pro max, it easily replaces that ‘feel’ for an actual book. The only hurdle with Kindle to surpass is the technology itself. In no time I became proficient. Us humans don’t like change, we like routine. All one has to do is to settle down and find a new routine. For me that came very quickly and I wouldn’t be without my Kindle now. I have a mild aversion now to real books. The latest Kindle’s battery life could be improved but I found that once you turn Wi-Fi off, your battery life extends exponentially. A great device to assist reading with a built in dictionary, translator and reference guide for everything one is interested in. What’s not to like…?

Overall good but some issues

 –
3z1997

2023-08-14
Version 6.56
Usually very good, but like now, every now and then the app refuses to open, it’ll get stuck on the opening kindle screen then just force closes. It’s happened a few times over the years with my iPhones and is happening right now.
Read online that it could be either my phone needs an update, the app needs an update or both but both are updated to the max. Also restarted my phone and nothing, deleted the app and nothing. I think the last time I’ve had this problem it took a few weeks to resolve so I just used my actual kindle but it’s a pain when I want to use my phone.
So beware if you have an iPhone, it’s not that bad but maybe happens every once or twice a year. Also can’t buy books in app because I have an apple product. The joy.

I have a kindle paperwhite and to be honest I don’t ever want to live my life without it. If you have a love for books it won’t replace that feeling of flipping the page, the smell of the paper or the weight in your hand. However if you devour books in a speed like I do, you will love the kindle. Just because it’s like having the library without worrying were you need to place the all the books that accumulated. No longer having to choose which book(s) to take with you when travelling or making room to bring books back with you from your travels. Battery last amazingly long and charging goes fast enough. And if all that fails there’s the app you can put on your phone. Perfect for waitingrooms to speed up time with reading something you actually like instead of grabbing a magazine usually present in those environments. Treat yourself you won’t regret it!

The Kindle app for the iPad is equally useful, especially for reading non-fiction or technical books which rely on pictures and diagrams. Books are what tablets are for. I hardly ever buy a paper book now. I sometimes receive one as a gift, but they end up, unread, in the Oxfam shop, since I don't want books taking up shelf space and they are awkward to carry about. The only problem I get these days is that my devices (5) don't always synchronise. I might set a bookmark on my iPad, but if I later open the same book in my Kindle it wants to go to an earlier page. One thing I would like is the ability to open more than one instance of Kindle so that I can have more than one book readily available.

Kindle Oasis disappointing (but book service good)

I bought a kindle when it first came out and found it very handy especially when travelling. It broke after a couple of years. After a long gap, a year ago I bought a Kindle Oasis because I thought I might as well get the best.
So far I have found it disappointing for quite a few reasons. First, it is too big to slip into an inside pocket of a jacket. Secondly it is too slippery to hold comfortably. I bought a case which works but now it’s no longer handy. Thirdly the touch screen is a real pain. If you brush it by accident you use your place. Switching the touch screen off means an awkward excursion into the menus (lock Screen button needed). Fourthly the menus are slow, clumsy and not intuitive - software feels very dated. Fifth the on screen information is not very helpful.
In other respects the performance is just OK. The Kindle app on my iPhone works much better.
After a year I don’t like it much - the case is big, slippery and the software is rough around the edges. A pity because the Kindle book service is excellent and there is great potential for a top quality Kindle reader. But I’m afraid the Oasis is just an expensive cheap one.

An amazing facility

Kindle Unlimited has transformed my retirement. Having the time to read for pleasure was a luxury I could seldom afford whilst working. What a bitter irony it would have been had I been unable to satisfy my hunger because of the cost now that I have the time.
There are certainly enough books within the scheme to choose from and enjoy. If I have the desire to read more recent releases which is rare, then family and friends supply me with vouchers for birthdays etc.
I could read without the risk of infection during the pandemic. I never have to wait as someone else is reading the book and the choices are endless. I am even helped to locate books that I am likely to enjoy. Storage of books which grow old and dusty is simply not a problem. The book is always adequately illuminated without my pulling myself into contortions to get to the light.
Apart from spending time with my husband and family it is the best thing ever!

It’s great but…

I love using the kindle app to read all the books I have in my library and most of the time I don’t have an issue with it. I have it set up so that I’m reading white text on a black background so that when I’m reading in bed with the lights off, the pages give off minimal light so that it doesn’t bother my wife and she’s able to get to sleep. And for 99.9% of the time it’s great.
However, if I find an error or typo or some such that needs reporting, then because of my settings the reporting tool only shows the highlighted text as white text with the error on a white background. While the comments box to write a correction or make a comment is black text on a black background. Surely the developers need to address this and make it so that whenever an error/comment report is made the app reverts to a default black text on white background and once the report has been completed then the app reverts to the previously selected settings. Because at the moment trying to make reports is very difficult and frustrating.

Excellent with a few limitations

I use Kindle as an app (and also the original first device still working) a lot and have for years for both pleasure and research. It depends on the quality of its e-books but has generally encouraged standards much better than the early productions.
A feature of the first Kindle was Collections. Very useful once your library gets large. Why is it not in the app? A bit of search by book type would be good too.
I often highlight in research and also to mark pleasurable text, and I use search to cross refer as one turns back and forwards the pages of a book. (I fell in love with books as a child.) I read on iPad and computer and device, rarely on iPhone. But recently the notes feature has been morphed into flash cards which I think meets a US education need. It is a useful addition but frankly that’s what it should be. The loss of the simple notes feature in some versions is a bad backward step. I would also like page numbers as well as locations. Of course on Kindle it’s meaningless but not when working and reading across formats. Publishers routinely have a book they are converting to ePub.
And why show us books we can sample but not buy? Well the answer is they don’t want to pay Apple commission.

Aged Reading.

As a child I was taught to look after books and I did, no folding corners of pages as a way of marking when I stopped reading until the next time or folding front and rear covers right back and in doing so damaging the spine. I enjoyed and still do going into the library and picking up books because of the cover or the author so the concept of reading from an electronic device was a little strange to say the least. Now I find that I can store a number of books on my Kindle app, read in the middle of the night without turning on a light and disturbing my wife. What I don’t miss is bringing back an armful of library books and finding I have read them before. Long may Kindle remain.

Export does not work

There is a feature of the app to allow highlighted text and bookmarks, in a kindle you are reading, to be saved in a part of the app called 'Notebook', and that all works well. However, here is the problem - there is a function in the Notebook page to allow the user to Export the Notebook. However this functionality does not work. It goes so far and then puts up an error message to say, effectively, you need to add an email address. But there is no place to input an email address and the functionality comes to a dead end and simply doesn't work. Not one of your staff was willing to say they did not know how to solve the problem, or say, simply that this functionality doesn't work. They also, when taking the call did not read and understand from the call history what prior associates had already tried, and so they repeated the same suggestions. Matthew was particularly a poor associate. This whole call was a very bad experience and I could sense the incompetence of the staff to deal with my call. I sent a screen shot of the "Email Account Not Set Up" message which clearly shows the problem and is the best place for your developers to start if they want to try and correct this dead end. I hope from my response that your staff can be helped to improve their support and that reading the call history may be used to show how not to answer a support chat.

As someone who has read as a kid along with my family, it has been amazing! It’s perfect for family accounts, how you can access the account from many different devices, also that you can access all the books you have bought on the account from all devices, so you can read your book on someone else’s device, logging on to new devices is easy and simple and buying books online instead of on paper is so much cheaper and less hassle as they’re completely portable. It’s great that everyone can be reading on the same account but so many books at one time, I currently use the kindle app on my phone, iPad and Kindle and love that it syncs my place in the book so I can easily swap between devices without having to skip forwards. There is a great range of text fonts and sizes and I haven't come across any major problems with the app or Kindle device after using it for almost a decade, and I will continue to read with it in the future.

Update. Latest version even worse. Why is it so slow to reopen a book that has already downloaded. If this gets any worse I will have to buy a new kindle. I only want to read!!!! Ditch all the gimmicks and let me get to my books. What used to be a straightforward reading app has been weighed down with features that only the developer would want. Have been waiting nearly ten minutes with a blank screen trying to load a book it doesn’t appear to like! Powering off doesn’t fix it and it seems too stupid to time out. Please just fix it and then leave it be. Update. Home page poor not only introducing delays but causing the library to lose its place. If you must fiddle then make collections work. Stupid that you can add a book to a collection but not see it to access. Thank god I own a real kindle! Missed opportunity

Forgive the pun, but I bought ebooks for three reasons, one to save carrying a load of books while travelling, I love to read but paperbacks weigh too much, two I found I bought the same book several times at the airport as they changed cover frequently ( kindle tells you if you have purchased before) and finally I can read in bed without disturbing my wife as no lights required if you have a backlit reader. Why do I like kindle, book selection is great, value for money ( usually, but don’t pre-purchase as carries 100% premium!) and delivers promptly. Further, text is clear, adjustable and choice to scroll or page turn. I need no more. What the industry needs is for books to exploit the reader, interactive maps, link to references etc. But perhaps that may destroy the read and absorption with your favourite authors !

I have been reading with the Kindle App and a Kindle device for many years now. Each iteration is an improvement. However, the app now works so easily and seamlessly across devices I seldom use the physical Kindle. The improvements I like most in the app are the choice of progress indicators and the greater ease of jumping between footnotes and text. Having my library on-line is a great substitute for my book cases. I sometimes miss physical books, but not often. One tiny improvement I would like to see would be a proper 'bookshelf' view with only spines showing. If that could be sorted according to a desired cataloging standard with shelves labelling themselves by category. The library analogy would be complete! Love the freedom the Kindle provides.
The integration with Audible has become essential for me as I switch between listening to books on walks and reading them at home. Thy synchronisation is spot-on.

Having always been an avid reader, over the years I have acquired a hefty stock of paper and hardbacks. My daughters bought me a Kindle for my 60th, years and years no years ago. Inspite of the love of the feel and smell of a book, I have become a firm fan. Although my Kindle is over a decade old, it still gives good service, a novelty in this day and age of built in redundancy. I now share my daughter’s library through Kindle prime and sharing a similar taste in history, politics and biography it’s great to read books almost simultaneously and discuss in detail. The Kindle app means I can read a book on any one of three electronic devices, anywhere and pick up where I left off on all of them. I can store or dispose of books without the use of space of the wrench of physically parting with them. Get one now !

I keep turning off popular highlights and the app keeps turning them back on when I’m not looking. There doesn’t seem to be any way to report issues just going around in circles through help pages. I know how to turn them off, I just want to know how to make them stay off!
Compatibility is also an issue between devices. The same book will only measure progress in pages on one device / app and in “location” on another which causes issues when switching between devices. Rant over.
This app is at least responsive, has good display options and the new series grouping option is fabulous. It would be nice if it had text to speech built in like the old kindle keyboard used to have, but I guess that would impact audible sales.

My kindle is lost. My new iPad refuses to recognise the app. My phone only scrolls I don’t like to scroll I prefer to read a full page and tap to get the next one.
My lost kindle should reappear when we move into our new home. I love it so much. I had cataracts at 50 and it enabled me to continue reading. Now I still read a larger than average font size. I think my brain has become used to it. But I miss the original button to turn the page.
Better still in the winter I use an iPad stand to keep my kindle still on my chest. I wish I had a remote control button to turn the page so I could keep my hands warm under the duvet. That would be great. Every time I visit the eye hospital, numerous Patients’s requests amazed that the font size can be changed. You are missing a big audience. But they may need a simple version eg the writing notes keypads are almost impossible. I’m doing this on my phone. I wouldn’t be able to do it on my kindle. A simple version for young and old might be a great idea.

Instead of me buying a kindle I thought I try out the app on my iPad first to make sure the books I wanted manga mostly was on there
I have to say I’m surprised how much I loving it so far and haven’t stopped using it since definitely done what I wanted it to do was increase and help me read more manga instead of waiting a while for the books to come in the post
Increased my manga reading very happy
I will say the one draw back I have found that I’m not to bothered but maybe other people might be is the kindle unlimited after my 30days free I have seen some manga on there and fantasy as that’s what I read but let’s say it’s a 20vol series it would have up to like 10 or 15 then u would have to pay for the other volums separately like they get u hooked on it then-like okay now u have to pay for the last ones or what ever not on the kindle unlimited I mean I get it but just a little bug and maybe some more manga or fansty different kinds would be nice too but I’m what so far👍

I love how this reading app works, completely suited to me. I love how, if there is a word I may not know how it’s easy to just press on it and the app gives you the definition/s, also wiki result for some history and pronunciation tab, which is also very useful (but do think they should have one with an English accent too) and you don’t need to click on external links, there is enough to scroll through on the tabs, whilst still on the book page.
I find reading on my phone (which is a fairly sizeable screen) is much easier than an actual book, due to lighting, shadows, font, faded words, bent pages and never able to get comfortable - can lock the screen and lie on side if in bed etc.
Plus, on the Kindle, I just go for the scroll down option as opposed to the page by page option and when I get tired I just read to the end of the paragraph and touch the screen for a bookmark, whereas with a real book I felt like I had to get to the end of the right page, which can be straining on the eyes and less enjoyable.
Anyway, I highly recommend it.

I absolutely love the kindle app, I think the integration with Prime reading really makes it feel like a little library inside my phone!
When I’m going on long journeys I enjoy reading on my kindle and am always pleasantly surprised that it’s kept track of where I’m reading on my phone.
It has lots of settings which I like to save for different times such as bedtime (darker background, dimmer lighting) or when I have a headache and can’t focus as well (dimmer screen, larger text). It’s also amazing that you can use a coloured screen which has been shown to make reading easier for people who struggle with dyslexia.
As a parent I pick up and put down a lot and always loose my place in a paper book, now I don’t have that trouble. Thank you for allowing me to read my books with ease!

My daughter and I enjoy reading books on the iPad. Given the astounding artwork that goes into some of these books, I have always found the Kindle App to be glitchy. Some books allow you to zoom in and see more detail. Other books allow you to magnify the words you are reading ... but not all. I don’t know why the functionality of some books is different to others. The pictures in some books are remarkably low resolution. Others present you with wide blank unloaded areas despite already having downloaded the book. You often have to flick back and forth to make these areas visible again. Some books crash the app when you try to zoom in. A combination of these factors disrupts the reading experience considerably. Can’t fault the App for books without images though.

It seems like a petty thing to be annoyed over but Kindle has decided to link the colour of your home screen (ie black vs white) to whether you have your phone set to dark or light mode. Previously you could set this yourself. Now you can’t. I read everything on a black page and have had it set to black ever since I could choose to do so. It’s really frustrating that they’ve changed it (especially as I mostly read at night and a bright white homepage is pretty startling to your eyes). Despite being a small issue it really is annoying. I use the app a lot and though small it is something I’m now constantly having to deal with. There just doesn’t seem to be any good reason to have made it impossible to choose separately from your whole phone display in general, particularly when they had the option there before!

This is my favourite book! Many don’t say you should judge a book by its cover, but in the kindle shop i was so much intrigued by the book and the story it held! I persuaded my mother to buy it and she gave in, with a click of a finger she had bought it. Snatching the kindle from her fingers, i raced upstairs to my bedroom where i could read in peace. It couldn’t have been more that 5 minutes when i declared i loved the book. I loved the pure thrill and suspense with the twist of hatred and romance and comedy. I was engulfed into the world of panem which i didn't want to escape! Spending hours reading and reading until i was so tired i could barely keep my eyes open! I went on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the while book. And i was so disappointed when it ended it nearly brought me to tears, but i couldn't have been more ecstatic when my mother told me that the hunger games was a trilogy! This was and forever will be the best book of all time!

Really good - can’t fault it!

Ever since I broke my kindle, I have always wanted somewhere to read books online, as sometimes waiting for books to be delivered can take a long time through shipping! I found out about this app and ever since I’ve downloaded it it has worked great! There is no lagging and the finish to the books are so clean! Also there isn’t any problem with the transition of the books onto your account and usually the kindle or e-books are cheaper too! Overall the app is great! I would really recommend it to anyone who likes a good book but for any reason can’t get them physically from a book shop or library. Love this app, please keep up the good work! 👍🏼

Kindle has helped me save physical space by creating an electronic library that I can always keep with me without carrying anything heavy. It also saves me having to wait for deliveries as you get your books instantly downloaded to your device and the prices are fantastic. I can also read without lights on and even though it’s screen time, it can help with falling asleep, soothing and having fun. Initially I was skeptical and even quite negative because I love interacting with physical books and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to connect with screen reading but Kindle has been invaluable to have during the pandemic, because I can access books that are not available in physical form in my country. It keeps me connected and accessing resources. It’s become my favourite app to use daily. Not to mention that it’s helping reduce paper use for the environment. Highly recommend, you’re in for a treat!

I am blind, so access to reading material is still sometimes a challenge. Having an easy to use Kindle reader for the iPhone is a great help in this regard. It is easy enough to buy Kindle books, download them to my device, keep track of which titles are on the device, choose which one I’m reading, keep up with where I am in each book and read the actual text. So that’s basically what I want, & this app does it OK. Gripes are few. One is that when a page has footnotes the app sometimes gets stuck in these - & there does not seem to be a convenient way to navigate to a footnote & then back to the text. Another would be that when doing academic work, citing a Kindle book can be an absolute nightmare as you’re never really sure what page you’re on, & it’s often hard to work out who the publisher really is.

This app is awesome! I have it on my phone, iPad and Mac. I also have a kindle. I read a lot of technical books which I like to note. On a big screen phone or iPad, you can see as much if not more text than on a kindle device. Also, the app is much quicker at page turning than the kindle device. Getting to contents pages is much quicker with the app. In fact anything you can do on a kindle seems to be done quicker and better on a phone or tablet. It sort of begs the question why you would use a kindle. Well, I guess I like my kindle because I can read it in full sunshine with my shades on. I’d rather take my kindle to the beach than my iPad. It is easier to carry a kindle around in a jacket pocket than an iPad on your commute on a busy bus or underground carriage. But, with the bigger iPhones available. I think the advantage for the commute is greatly diminished.

Would be helpful to have features that make Kindle more practical to use, such as a facility to export to a summary page/s ( with one single command) all the segments highlighted by the user while reading ( a command such as “ copy all the highlighted”. The summary could be kept in a separate section within the Kindle App if you do not wanted the summary to be exported somewhere else, but would be a very useful feature for the user. You could do something similar with the highlights that you already provide based on your analytics from what other users highlighted. Also, an audio feature would be very useful to allow the user to continue learning the content of the book when you cannot sit to read, not all your books in Kindle are available in Audible. You could offer this feature for free to Kindle users or give them the option ( by default, in all your Kindle titles ) at a reasonable cost and with a command that makes easy to operate the audio. This would add much value to many users.

I haven’t posted a review before very much, but I began to realise how unfair that is to the author of a work.
I chanced upon this series after seeing a suggestion by a few others on a Reddit sub, I thought I would give it a go.
It has been a very enjoyable, and very powerful read so far. Characters are extremely well drawn, from the first moment you meet them. Interestingly both women and men are written very well, not an easy thing to do.
Story arcs are interesting. Obviously there is a main story which will be completed at the end of each book, and numerous sub-stories. But there is also an overreaching narrative arc, that is clearly spanning all the novels. I am only starting book 4, but it is getting very interesting watching the AI and how it is responding to the society changes it has brought about by relocating Joseph Kelso
In summary, a big thank you to this author for his time and commitment to this series. It has reintroduced me to the joy of reading. I look forward to the rest of this series and other works to come.

Paperwhite gen 10.
I am a total bibliophile and have hundreds of books and adore reading. The needle that broke the camels back was going to the states with my husband and 8 heavy books.
My next birthday I received a Kindle (2010) from him. It stayed in its box as I refused to fall into this digital forgery.
Three months later I ended up in hospital and asked my husband to bring in some books for me to read. He brought in my Kindle. I had no choice but to use it and I have to be honest I loved it. I realised I could have hundreds of books at my finger tips and because a lot of them are cheaper you can trial and remove if no likely. I have had three now and my Gen 10 is the best. You can read in the bath. No more wet soggy books!
Please don’t get me wrong it does not replace books (I still have hundreds and still buying many monthly) but it’s not intended to. It’s to be more convenient to you.

Always have either my kindle or phone with kindle app with me at all times so I can read whenever I have to wait anywhere. Doctors. Dentist. Hospital in the car to and from journeys. The Hairdressers and when having coffee on my own In a cafe I take out phone and carry on reading my current book being able to sync to last page read on kindle and enjoy ten minutes of ‘me’ time. My friends laugh and cannot understand how I can just read a few paragraphs at a time but it just works for me and takes stress out of waiting especially when on my own
Most of all when I want to switch off and wind down at night I can read till I feel ready to drift off all without disturbing my husband as no need to have the light on.
Lastly I love that I have all my beloved books in my library and do not have to be forced to give books away because I cannot store all hard copies I have read.

Love being able to read my kindle books on my iPad due to this app however, very disappointed that my separate wireless keyboard won’t type on here, so I have to use touch screen, which I find slower. Far more importantly however, I cannot download books unless I do so first to my kindle tablet. This is really annoying as it feels like a bit of a rip off to be expected to buy a separate device when I am willing to pay for the ebooks anyway, particularly since my (third) kindle (fire, currently) has such a poor battery life and is difficult to charge, as successive chargers bend, or fall out of the dodgy little charging portal. I have also never been able to download a book on any kindle unless I am at home, connected to the internet. If you are going to supply inferior tablets, at least allow your app to permit us to upload your products directly to a superior tablet. Thank you.

A painful and woeful story into our inadequate care system. Paul Connelly, abandoned at a very young age and enters the St Leonard’s children’s home at aged eight years of age. From where he gives a harrowing account of the systematic child abuse he suffered. The book is unabridged and some readers may find it quite graphically disturbing in parts? However, extremely well documented and written. It left me somewhat angry at a system which has turned a blind eye at child abuse for so many years. Did they never read anything by Dickens? And take on board what he was saying? How could this have happened so recently? Made all the more disturbing when the perpetrators walk free! I couldn’t put this book down, extremely glad that Paul was able to turn his life around and I say a big, ‘well done’ to him for the courage it has taken him to face his past and write this excellent documentation of it.

I’ve been using the Kindle app on iPad since it first became available, and in all that time it has provided me with lots of reading enjoyment and exposure to new books and even genres. This alone would merit a five star review.
Now, just to make things even better, they’ve turned it into a video game for pedants (among whose number I have been assured I belong). The “click and hold” to get definitions of words has been there for a while, but the new icon on the toolbar for reporting typos turns an otherwise frustrating experience (as in “Grrr, why can’t they employ proper proof readers”) into an enjoyable diversion (as in “ah hah, found another one - I’ll get that reported”).
They’ll probably disable it soon, as they get over-whelmed with messages (I’ve sent off five so far today for typos in the book that I’m reading), but while it lasts it’s a great feature.

Enjoyed the book! Many coincidences, that as usual; seem meaningfully familiar; like some of the names I knew in this book which were in ‘The Weird Stone of Brisingamen’; by Alan Garner; a contemporary fairytale that I read as a 10 year old in 1974.
And as I write, here’s some synchronicity; lying in bed now and my wife just said “shall we go to a play called ‘Death of a Salesmen”. She said it’s got Rupert Hill acting in it; he shares a birthday with our son 15th June so he’s 15 years to the day older. “Why not said I, who wrote it”? “Arthur Miller”she said “and he was born on the 17th October 1915, which I immediately knew was 19 years to the day before the author I had just written about in the review; I also Know that ‘Alan Garner’ will be 84 on that day this year; when I will have been in the flesh on our planet for 19,999 days.

To say I love reading is a vast understatement, the equivalent of saying I love breathing. For years I was reliant on Library books with the occasional new paperback. But as I grew older and had more ‘leisure’ both in time and money I began to buy books for myself when they were released. Which is fine but takes up space. Especially as I (like Oscar Wilde) believe that any book worth reading once is certainly worth reading again. So my home began to acquire the look of a small library. Then came Kindle. Quite small at first, not every book that I liked was available. But all the new ones were. And bit by bit older books started to be added that could only otherwise be re-read in tatty second-hand editions (libraries having long since stopped stocking any ‘old’ books in favour of PC new ones). It’s grown and expanded and I love it just as much. Even better, you don’t even need a dedicated device now, you can download a kindle app for free onto any device at all. Which means you’ve got something to read wherever you are, whenever you need it. I can only say if you haven’t already, try it NOW

Couldn’t live without the kindle app...

I read at least five books a week via the Kindle app on my iPad or iPhone. I’m a Kindle Unlimited user and it’s Ab Fab as there’s so many books to choose from and not costly either, definitely value for money. I also download books not available through Kindle Unlimited. I honestly couldn’t go back to reading paperbacks or hardbacks they’re too heavy. I take my iPad or iPhone anywhere and whichever one has the last page I read is what u get on the screen. I read if I waken through the night and set it to night setting and my husband is none the wiser where as with a paper book I’d have to have a night light on and he would always waken up when I put it on and he’d not let me keep it on. If you don’t have the kindle app get it it will change your life exponentially. Happy kindle app reading.

Let me start by saying that I’m not good at reviews. However, this story reminded me so much of the fallen crest series but in a good way. It was similar to that series but now we’re getting the view from the other side of the track.
It was a well written book and shows the heroine struggles with dealing her life and that of her crew. She wasn’t just a strong person but was able to be open and honest about her feeling and that made for a good connection between her and cross. The love the other characters in the book and the story not only focused on one person but also events in everyone lives. Heather being in the story was absolutely wonderful and I’m excited that they’ll be a book for her.
Can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Good but needs some adjustments

First of all I understand that as a company you need to make money but when we were told to select ten books at the beginning of our free trial, I expected that we could keep the books which we had chosen however as I woke up today I found that the books which I had been reading had all suddenly been replaced with a ‘personal letter’ which told me that to read the books I had chosen I would have to renew a subscription to kindle unlimited which was hidden from us, I was well aware that we would have to pay money if we wanted books but I never clearly saw a sign within the app telling me that I had a week long trial. Asides from this how many people can read 10 several hundred page books in a week, this leads me to believe that you never intended to let us read these books

Perfect companion!

I love my kindle for many reasons, the convenience of its size, the amount of books you can store on it, the wide choice of kindle books available but mostly because it’s so much easier to hold than “normal books”. If you’re an avid reader there’s no need to pack heavy books when going on holiday you have a whole library contained in a pocket size book.
I often hear people say that it’s not like reading a proper book and they would miss the actual page turning, well you still turn pages on your kindle so what’s the difference? I have owned 3 types of kindle and if anything happened to my current one there would be no hesitation about replacing it, I don’t think I could live without one now.

All books on the Kindle rather than just one.

I have had a Kindle for about 9 years- the ebook and the kindle fire. I had found it difficult holding and turning the pages of larger books, especially if reading in bed and am also partially - sighted so the fact you can increase the size of the text and use text to speech was very handy. I have always enjoyed reading- I was an English teacher- and find the Kindle handy to take out and about with me and especially on holiday rather than bulky books. They are also a boon to kids who have reading difficulties because the text etc can be tailored to suit them and of course they are ‘cooler’ than actual book, especially to boys, because they are in tablet form! When I downloaded the app to my iPhone, it was even more convenient and less weight to carry and I, literally, (pardon the pun), always had a book at my fingertips! I still haven’t mastered all the ways to use the app on my phone fully but will eventually. Despite my love of actual books, I would never go back voluntarily to them. My Kindles are too convenient and easy to use in all circumstances. I have recommended them to family members and friends as I think they are fantastic.
Thank you,

Kindle review.

This is for me an essential part of going on holiday, taking my IPad which has had the Kindle app installed ever since I bought the IPad. I have always taken several books on holiday to read and share with my wife, but books take up too much of the weight allowance, so we usually left the books at our hotel etc. Good for the hotel, but not if you take into account the cost of books, and occasionally I like to reread some books at a later date. Also whatever you take you have to read, even if the book turns out not to be the page turner you hoped from reading the back cover, or the reputation of the author.
With a Kindle app, I can take all of my library (cloud), with me with very little extra weight.
10/10..

Kindle is wonderful

Many people say the prefer proper paper books to the electronic variety. This, as a recently retired academic, I don’t understand. Kindle has allowed me to read instantly technical books that I once would have had to visit a specialist bookshop for, wait weeks for delivery, then go pick them up. I can actually search for a half-remembered quote to use in papers I am writing. On the leisure side I can search for books without getting a crick in my neck looking at high shelves, and carry my whole library with me on holiday. I can read all day without the pain in my thumb from years of holding books open. I can search and find new books from favourite authors and download them at sometimes remarkable prices. Best of all, especially as I get older and more forgetful, I can search the back story of minor characters who suddenly become important. I love kindle.

I am an avid reader and love the kindle app. My husband used to hate when I read in bed as he said that the light being on and the turning of the pages kept him awake. No problem with the kindle ( as long as the screen is facing away from him!). Only problem that I have found with the latest update is that if I have been looking at other things on my iPad and then come back to the kindle app, I often get the home page and have to go through a series of procedures to get back to the book that I was reading. The procedures include closing down other apps, pressing the app until it shakes - the process prior to deleting an app - then pressing the home page button. If that doesn’t work I turn off the WiFi button for a few minutes, the final option is to do a reset - press the off button and home button at the same time. If nothing works then I leave it for a while and it usually sorts itself out when I try to re-open the kindle app. I would give the kindle app 5* but reduced it by 1* due to this irritation.

Great App but latest update breaks accessibility

I use this app everyday and it is mostly really great! Unfortunately the latest update has created a big problem for me. As a user with learning difficulties, I rely heavily on text to speech software in text based content consumption. I switched away from my actual kindle when books started coming out with the text to speech explicitly disabled.. (I can only imagine this is done to boost sales of more expensive and often abridged audible versions).
I now use the kindle iPhone app and just use the built in text to speech on the phone. This has worked brilliantly up till now. With the latest update the page turning has stopped working correctly.. when it gets to the end of a page it turns to the next page but skips straight to the last paragraph on that page soon turning to the next page and then rushing through the book skipping over most of the book 😖
I really hope this gets fixed soon...
