App doesn’t work

Waiting for an update for IOS16
After I updated system
Sound in the app is absolutely horrible
And won’t load amps or any effects.

Not impressed, no bias fx2 comparability.

Version 3.6.42
I’m new to bias fx, I seen fx2 in the App Store, purchased it, and purchased every extra to the sum of a fair few pounds. So upon opening bias fx2 it presented me with JamUp pro that seamlessly integrates with bias fx. It’s advertised inside the bias fx2 app and I wanted the 8 track (4 off which cost me even more). So with nearly £100 paid of my hard earned cash, I record on the 8 track...only to find bias fx2 does NOT work with jamup even tho the BIAS FX2 APP ADVERTISES JAMPLAY PRO TO YOU. properly raging at this. Malpractice, I feel cheated. Save your cash go else where.
I bet the dev leaves an automated ‘hi , thanks for the feedback, please write us at.. blah blah blah” to make it look like they care..which they don’t. Standard corporate ‘reach out to us cos we care rubbish’

Doesn’t work on iOS 14

Version 3.1.0
Exporting/backup to dropbox does not store midi config so beware when importing on another device.
Categorising a wah pedal as a “modulation” effect is a hinderance when you wish to midi toggle a “true” modulation effect, such as chorus, independently. Who else thinks a wah pedal is a modulation effect?
Be nice to see the ability to import user cabinet IRs rather than have to buy audiobus and a convolution app to get the same result.
Other than that, its cool

Looking elsewhere for my next purchase

Version 2.1.1
I bought JamUp and almost all the in-app extras. Then you drop it and start supporting Bias. JamUp no longer works properly in Cubasis 2 which is now the leading DAW for iOS. I accept that things move on but feel that under the circumstances I should get a discount off bias FX. If you don’t offer this kind of incentive to stay with your products, how do we know you won’t do it again, when it’s time for the next significant advancement in software?

This was amazing when I first got it on my iPhone 6. Now it doesn't work at all on iPhone 7 due to there not being a standard headphone jack. Even a splitter doesn't work. Come on guys, the iPhone 7 has been out for nearly a whole year now and this still hasn't been addressed??? For shame...

After a update I have lost all my purchases, I also noticed that with each update the sound of many presets changed which would be horrific if I used this live!
Even after contacting support through apple or jam up , nothing has happened as it happened previously and happened a second time now it isn't showing in purchase...

Version 1.3.0
I've been a fan of this app for a long time, and spent a lot on pedals and amps. But not right now...
Firstly, I used the Jam feature for practice, being able to load tracks from my iTunes library and slow them down. Perfect.
But not any more. The quality of the audio playback is now very very poor. Full of crackles and pops. I'm not sure at what point this started - iOS 9 update, or a JamUp app update - but the feature is now pretty well unusable.
Secondly, the base amps seem to sound reasonably good (not great though), but applying any form of effect - distortion, etc- brings the same poor quality audio to the guitar output too.
I've been advised by Positive Grid Support that they are aware of the problem, which only affects some users, and are looking into it. The latest update on Feb 9th (with a DSP fix) didn't fix the issue, nor did a re-install by me.
I'm not a professional who uses this App for live performances. If I were, I'd be fuming.
I hope the outcome isn't that my iPad 3 isn't now man enough for JamUp on iOS 9. I've spent a lot of time and money on this app.
So come on PG, let's get it sorted asap so I go back to giving it a five star rating.

Version 3.6.32
I am loving Jam Up Pro right now it's great when it's too late to plug into one of my real valve amps or if I'm traveling and want to use something that sounds better than my Marshall MS-4. But the main bug that's annoying me is that the search bar is not working and worst of all songs from my iTunes library keep on playing while I'm trying to use the app making the presets feedback and forcing me to exit the app. This happens even if I haven't loaded a track in to jam along with. This has also happened to me with the Pickup app too. Please fix it soon as I do love what Positive Grid is doing right now.

Version 3.1.5
The amp sounds are great, but it looks like it is not working properly under ios8. The backing track files in jam app sounds horrible and sometimes the guitar is not connected when starting to mention a couple of bugs.
I have both Ampkit+ and Amplitube and both of these are more versatile. You need to also by Bias to be able to customize anything, like different cabs and mic's. It has some really nice features though so if the bugs are fixed it is really worth the money in my opinion.

Version 3.6.6
This is my first review ever but I was having the same frustrations as other people with the audiobus compatability. This is just a quick fix thats not perfect but should tide some people over till the update comes out. Open audiobus and see that the jamup icon is missing, go to jamup and select run in background, once audiobus recognises jamup you can turn off background mode and it should still show up. Not ideal but its something.

Version 2.2.0
If you ignore the in App purchase issues that seem to plague this app, then it IS amazing. The quality of tone is astounding. I personally own the Axe FX II & The Kemper Profiling Amplifier, along with the Line 6 POD HD500X and the MESA Triaxis. This is most definitely up there. Combined with the glorious BIAS App, you will have a very high quality tone with no issue at all. Tones that can be used very successfully in both a studio and live situation.
I wish I was big enough to be sponsored by Positive Grid. Unfortunately both myself and my business are not that well invested in the music industry.
Buy this App. Buy BIAS. Buy a GOOD quality interface and RAWK!
Truly stunning.

Jam up is a brilliant program, especially with Bias. My favourite feature is the looper which is very simple but great for practise.
The clean channel sounds are not as good as ampkit ( IMHO) but the flexibility of the program is great. I'm starting to play at open mics and will give this a try live.
Us guitarists are very lucky at the moment!

Best amp sim for iPhone but not perfect (yet)

 –
Splintergroup2002
 –
2014-05-15
Version 3.6.40
I have tried and tested Mobile POD, Amplitube and Peavey's amp sim and for sound quality Jamup is far superior to all of these. POD has a larger selection of user and artist tones to download however the quality of those available in Jamup is better (IMHO). I originally used the standard irig interface (connected via the headphone jack) and I found that unless the output volume was set below 1/3 on the app there was unpleasant squealing feedback, when using a high gain amp. I have since bought a Line 6 Sonicport which connects via the lightning port on my iPhone 5 and this problem is solved, in fact it is so good I have started to use this app for live gigs rather than lugging around a massive pedal board!. There is only one slight issue in that there is a momentary delay when swapping between patches.
I am sure this could be rectified with a software update (please!). The only other minor criticism is that you cannot start to create a new patch from scratch (as far as I can tell). I must say Jamup works really well with GarageBand for recording on the go. In addition the jam function is great and being able to change the pitch of the backing track is really useful if you have a guitar in an alternative tuning.

Great sounds, but....

It's a good impression of a guitar rig and there are decent sounds in there. Enough for the price? Maybe - lots of in app purchases though so it could get relatively expensive. The main problem is the length of lag when playing. It's useless for any rhythm playing. It makes playing lead messy. If you can live with that - I can for what I want it for - then fine. Using it in a re-amping role within audiobus is good for instance. But this is NOT the equivalent of using proper equipment. Having said that, it's a tiny fraction of the price of getting any sort of real gear, we are living in a sci-fi world (I'm old, been doing this for a long long time......)

Jamup keeps nagging me to leave a review so here it is.
I've been playing the guitar for nearly 25 years, can you imagine how sore my fingers are, let alone the inconvenience of trying to go about my day to day business. Over the years I have played many amps, guitars etc etc blah blah blah. On it's own, Jamup is a capable guitar effects app. Used with Bias, it is superb. I am using a Line6 Sonic Port to record into Cubasis. I have to use a BBE Boosta Grande pedal to give my Strat a hotter signal as the Sonic Port lacks input gain control. The tones and options when combined with Bias are just amazing. Many years ago I used to record onto a 4 track Tascam tape recorder and have recently been using my laptop to create music. This setup blows me away. Jamup 5 stars on it's own. With Bias, double it.

I m happy enough with the app it does what it says it does. However i only purchased the pro upgrade and a metal pack as there was supposed to be 50% summer sale on them. I dont appear to have gotten the discount when i purchased, so other than that im happy enough. I was going to take another pack that was advertised as discounted also but did not.
I have since been in contact with them and they have resolved the discount issue quite easily. I even went and bought nearly the rest of the expansion packs.

I'm both a tutor and a gigging guitarist, so I can recommend this both for the casual player and the stage-going artist. I even use this live, plumbed in via an Apogee Jam into my guitar amp, which is set clean and loud. The recent update has improved the sounds and I like the fact that you are now no longer limited to just one pedal of each type. It's very intuitive, and moving icons around on the screen can also teach the uninitiated about the effect of placement within a signal chain. Noise appears to be less of an issue than most other similar apps, but this also depends on your interface of choice (the Apogee Jam, for example, is silent by comparison to the IK Multimedia iRig). The 'share' facility is an excellent idea, and a few of the patches have provided launch pads from which to tweak to my own tastes.
HOWEVER, since the most recent update - one aspect of which was to fix an issue with the 'share' facility that I wasn't experiencing - the 'share' facility now doesn't work; it tells me there is no Internet connectivity, despite full wireless signal strength. I also find that whilst all is well with this app on my iPad, the same cannot be said of the iPhone; any update refuses to load, and the only cure seems to be removing and reinstalling the app, which has the unhappy side-effect of removing my carefully-tailored presets. Please, Positive Grid, sort this out, as such niggles detract from what is an excellent app, and my first choice for guitar sounds accordingly.

Best iPhone Guitar App

Have tried most guitar amp apps (that work with Apogee Jam) and I believe this is the best sounding of the lot. It has great crunch / distortion / overdrive tones but really stands out for it's fantastic cleans in comparison to the others. The in-app bundles are also pretty reasonably priced with a wide selection of amps and stomp boxes.
Depending on your guitar / pickups, you will need to do a bit of tweaking of the various settings, but be patient and you'll get fantastic results, and the sharing / storing of configurations provides a very useful starting point.

All you could need in a single app!

I'd like to start by saying that I've been playing guitar for some thirty-odd years and that may not qualify me as being an expert it does mean I've played through quite a lot of the gear this app seeks to emulate ( mostly at my own expense!).
On the whole I think this app rocks, big style!
The sounds are organic and have 'real' feel. Sweet is the word.
The bottom line is, if you're a novice or a, fall blow, shredder, this app will give you access to pro quality tones, an amazing price (think about how much a real example of any one of these models would cost!).
I really wished had something that sounded this good when I first started playing, and thirty years on this is still one great sounding bit of kit
Incredible value.

Great idea and great sounds but, I can't find any of my saved songs. Also, I would like a help menu on the front page. Having to go out of what you are doing and trying to find a solution to your problem is very awkward and time consuming. A little more info on the front page would make this an ideal app.

Fantastic

What a great app this is. I have used live on several occasions and the sound is great. It's well worth the price for the effects and amp models. The 4 track is ok but not so easy to use as you have to import tracks you have saved, which slows things down a touch ... Unless I am missing something. Works great for bass and guitar. It's just a shame that Alesis amp dock does not have lightning connector, because the foot switch and wah pedal unit would be handy.

This app is just fantastic. Now with 8 tracks and cut and paste from other apps into any of the 8 tracks, I just love the whole concept of the app. Absolutely excellent for guitar players like myself and versatile and expressive amps. Sampler, jammer, download amp settings from other users and great on AudioBus as well. Awesome.

An iOS app where the in app purchases don't feel like a complete rip off! I love spending hours with this app trying to get my tones just right.

Out of all the amp software JamUp has the most intuitive interface in my opinion. Sound wise it is solid especially if you use a dock based interface as opposed to one that uses the headphone jack. It also works well as an effects rack for Audiobus.

Great but .......

This app is really really good, but I do feel that you should get more for your money. I upgraded from the free version to the pro and to be honest there isn't enough extra content to warrant the £13 spent I feel. I went one better and bought the effects pack for 7 bucks ,an envelope filter for 2 bucks and an acoustic amp for £3 which I was lead to believe would give you the sound of an acoustic guitar to some extent, but it doesn't :)
Price wise it can get expensive if you feel your missing out on the pedals and amps not available as options at first, but despite this, jamup pro really does perform well, low latency, sounds great, many options like the ability to play along with your music and make loops, and...... Audiobus compatible :)

Not bad at all

Best sounding amp sim, bit cheesed off with in app purchasing. I wish people wouldn't buy them and maybe developers would stop being greedy. Would much prefer to pay small premium for an update of significance. Anyway onto the sounds... Nice and responsive and don't sound too flubby or boxy. As expected the sims are fine if a little exaggerated in their perceived characteristics. Low latency mode is a god send. All in all a good product if a little overpriced if you take into account what you need to invest to have all the fun stuff.

I always used to hate amp emulations, but this new breed gets uncannily close to the real thing in all kinds of ways, such as the way it responds to the dynamics of your playing and the harmonic detail. I rate JamUp with Ampkit and Amplitube. These three all have their particular strengths; in my opinion JamUp wins for...'vibe'. Remarkable bit-transcending technology and great fun to use.

I have spent far too much money and time trying out the various guitar amps on Itunes - Amplitube, Ampkit, Stompbox et al. I am quite fond of Amplitube's clean sounds, its pop-up ads and non-transferable purchases count against it. In any case JamUp's amps and pedals are the best overall, especially with the Apogee Jam as your guitar input.

Whatever the future holds for guitar apps, this one is going to take some beating. Astonishing quality and versatility at an equally astonishing price, this great app does the work of a whole rack-load of gear. All I need is a guitar, my iPad and Bose L1 Compact system. I don't even need my backing-track gear because JamUp provides that, too. Don' t need a roadie, either – I'm travellin' light, now!

Definitely the best guitar fx and amp sim on iOS to date. It's the only one that I ever feel inspired by when I play through it. Loses one star for not yet having Amplitubes excellent MIDI mapping but this is apparently on the way along with Audiobus support. With these additions this will be 5 star easy. With out doubt worth the price of a packet of strings!!

This app is great. Tried all the other apps but never purchased anything past the free versions as I didn't feel the sounds were worth the price but this has nailed it. I've been using it with my jaguar and irig and can't fault it at all, sure you get the usual noise but that comes with mobile devices (and probably more so with irig) and not the apps but the noise filters are great and you don't lose too much tone when using them. The amp models are very close and with a good set of headphones you can't go wrong. Also not a fan of in app purchases but these are worth it. Got them on sale but would have happily paid full price for them. They are supporting Audiobus too so can only get better once that lands

Tried virtually every other app for a decent metal tone on the move and my gosh this is the best sounding guitar app I've ever used I think better than some much more expensive plug ins from other brands costing ten times as much!

JamUp Pro-bably the best!

I'm from the UK and it looks like we can't get the JamUp Plug iPhone interface here. Currently I'm using the Tiger iPhone/guitar interface and overall it does a competent job except for feedback problems on some of the more power driving sounds available, and with the Octaver pedal I only get a crackling sound.
For now I guess the way forward is the Apogee Jam which several reviewers have praised but that's way beyond my budget right now.
As for JamUp Pro, it makes my old Gibson Les Paul sound absolutely amazing. Because of the several offers going I bought the boutique amp package as well as the basic package and am very glad I did; the extra amps are essential if you want to extend your range of sounds.
Didn't warm to the app at first because I couldn't get how to switch between amps & fx but persistence and experimentation paid off royally. This is a treasure box for all electric guitarists with iPhones/iPads.
Grab it while it's still on special offer.

This App Rocks!

I use a Sonoma Guitar Jack 2 and now only use Sonoma apps or change the settings. The sounds with this combination are stunning. Amazing value if you buy the bundles. Connected to good phones or a good amp this app competes really well with thousands of pounds worth of pro kit. The ability to share setups is excellent and any of the most popular setups online really show case what you can do with a great app, a great interface and an iPhone or ipad! Go ahead and get the works!

It really is that good!!

I'm a true amp man myself and usually turn my nose up at these guitar apps!!
But Im changing my views here.. This jamup pro is very close... To a sound that works!!! I've tried every guitar app there is, and so far this one stands above all the rest!!

Essential practice tool!

Really excellent app. I own amplitude and ampkit+ but prefer this by far. Works well as a peddle plugged into amp, other apps tend to be noisy.
Practice tool works well easy to use and can play straight from iTunes without copying.
Really good initial choice of Amps and peddles and the share presets works well, similar to fender fuse.

I've got all the iOS amp simulators and this is the best one . Really sounds like the amps and is the most feature laden and easiest to use. No lag on iPad one and certainly less than the others.

As someone who has been messing around with electric guitars and assorted kit for 20 years or so I was pretty excited by the concept of this. Unfortunately, after spending a little bit of time playing with this application I realise that it's close to useless. The problem is that there is a tangible delay between picking a note and the production of the associated sound. This makes playing Rhythm tracks in particular extremely difficult. The rhythm that you hear back from the iPad will not correspond to what you are playing - there is about a fifth of a second delay that you have To deal with. I have to say that the quality of the different voices for the distorted lead guitar sounds were pretty good and I spent some happy hours shredding away. But this processing delay is a killer, it prevents this kit being a useful, serious tool for creating music.

Very happy with purchase.

Nice app. It is slow on my old iPhone 3GS with noticeable lag, but nice and fast on my iPad3. Sound quality and latency are excellent. Much better value for money than most apps I've tried.

I just got this today and love it, for £6.99 it's a no brainer.
You get everything you need to get going unlike ampkit+ (that dosn't include a delay pedal) this has 2 in the basic package.
Don't get me wrong, i like amkit too but Jamup pro has the edge imo, and the interface is much better.
2 good fender amps come in the basic package too, as well as other makes.
The jamming part is so easy to pick a song from your library to play along to and the looper is easy to use as well.
All in all cheaper and better than most of the rival amp sims, the only reason i didn't award full marks was the low number of preset locations 16!
but thats not too much of a problem if you don't mind tweeaking your setups to get variation.

Brilliant, tried them all but to me this is the best.

After using the other big name guitar amp I have to say that jamup blows it away, the fact that it is also a universal app is a plus, the in app upgrades are fair priced and all in all feels and sounds like a much better product than others I have tried.
I would like to see some kind of mixer for the recorded tracks, some kind of built in multitrack recorder would be the icing on the cake.
Cheers :-)

Waste of money, over priced.

I felt the lite version was pretty naff as far as bass guitar support goes, so when I saw that the full version had it I just had to get it. With a bass head and the ability to load in tunes and play along I felt it was worth the cost, but oh dear, what a mistake.
The bass tone has something strange going on, it's like a slight delay or ADT and it has an almost stereo feeling to it. Not like any of the other amps I've got and quite off putting.
The big let down is the Jam section. Maybe this works if the files are local (doubt it) but as most of my songs or on iTunes match the Jam section would just freeze up 9 out of ten times, and the app would need to be forced shut before I could try again.
I wish I could get my money back as I can't see me using this again.
