What exclusive content can you expect to find?
Latest news
Some of the best journalists in racing provide you with the biggest horse racing news, which you can expect to find in the opening pages. It could be a trainer retiring, an injury announcement or just news that helps set the scene for an upcoming big race. Whatever the big news in racing, it will be found towards the front of the paper.
Previews and reports
Our experts will preview all of the big races in the racing calendar, featuring news and quotes from the key trainers on their horses. Every day – even on the quieter ones – there will be a preview of the next day’s racing action. Likewise, there are big-race reports throughout the year and every afternoon meeting is covered in the daily Talk Of The Tracks section.
Columns
A number of regular columns appear in the Racing Post and they should not be missed, with award-winning writers such as Lee Mottershead tackling the big issues in racing.
Features
Stories often go beyond the immediate news and reaction that comes out every day. Feature articles, sometimes across multiple days, cover broader issues or themes affecting the racing industry. Each Sunday a group of features are combined to make up the popular Racing Post Sunday section.
Tipping
Expert tipping comes from some of the best tipsters around. Headline acts Pricewise and Paul Kealy feature regularly in the tipping section, with well-known names such as Pietro Innocenzi, Graeme Rodway and David Jennings ensuring there is strength in depth.
Furthermore, each day our regional experts provide their best bets from all the meetings in the daily Tips Box section.
Bloodstock
The Racing Post provides a vital service to the racing industry and the Bloodstock section is an essential daily digest for many of the paper’s readers. There is a designated section, bringing you the latest news from some of the biggest breeding operations in the world and the latest sales news.
Cards
Racecards are an essential part of the Racing Post newspaper. Every runner is highlighted in full colour, along with relevant information such as trainer, jockey, owners, form, age, weight, rating, breeding, saddle cloth number and more. This is the basis of in-depth form study for the day’s racing.
Form and Statistics
The traditional newspaper form has stood the test of time, with in-depth analysis of previous races for every runner on the card with a short description of how the race played out. The newspaper is packed with statistics and ratings to help you find more winners. Some of the most insightful information can be found in jockey statistics, trainer statistics, racecourse statistics, track rating and previous winners.
Greyhounds
Much like the racing side of the paper, the greyhound section features the latest news, previews, cards and results from the sport of greyhounds.
Sport
At the back of the newspaper, you will find a dedicated sports section with the latest previews, betting advice and opinions for the biggest events in sport. Our team of experts will help you keep up with the best sporting action and top betting advice in football, golf, tennis and much more.

Latest app version still frustrating

Version 2.5
The latest version of this app is eminently inferior to its efficient predecessor. Obviously designed for phones and not ipads, it assumes one wants to read in portrait, not landscape, mode and I have had continuous problems with the menu bar which should make navigation easier but in fact frustrates me daily. The page options offered in the bar most often only consist of "inside front cover" or "inside back cover" which means one has to scroll endlessly to find the required topic or page. The old version of the app enabled one simply to request a page number and go there directly - now you cannot. Racing Post Help say no one else has reported this issue, so why is it happening to me?

Version 1.0
The new “app” is a digital paper, very nice to look at but there’s no links on the contents page to help you navigate quickly. Far worse though is all the dynamic functionality of the old app has disappeared. Don’t understand why the need to change and I’ll be cancelling my subscription if the old app is not reinstated

Please revert back to original iPad version. Much better user experience and access to form and other functionality. Working with the pdf version of the newspaper is not good and not easy to get around or read for that matter. Might as well buy the paper. Also, iPad edition was available at 8pm. Now can only get after 9pm

The iPad daily edition was unique in its own ways allowing you to click on a horses name and see the form easily, as someone else has mentioned it was easy to get your bets on aswell, find it hard to understand why there isn’t the option no more and you have to get the digital paper.please bring back the old daily edition in time for the new year

The app is now the paper - good value but a shame

Version 1.3
I loved the iPad app. Easy to read and good interactive features. It’s a shame that it’s reverted to being an onscreen version of the paper. It makes it more difficult to read and we lose the interactive elements like odds and being able to get on. I can only assume it was simply too expensive to maintain in its previous format.
It’s still good value and it’s good to get it the night before but it feels like a backward step.

Utterly useless new version

They’ve scrapped every thing that was good about the original iPad app, saved themselves money in app support and are now peddling what’s essentially a pdf version of the newspaper

Version 4.4
This works really well for the semi-professional. Dead simple app to use, no racingpost.com complexities which drive me mad. The free phone app combined with this is as good as rolling news format on .com for our purposes. It is rumoured the RP will terminate it which would be a big mistake. The only important thing missing is replays, but the big stuff is available to RUK subscribers anyway. Database provides almost everything for the basic iPad app sub and we have returned to this as racingpost.com just isn’t up to scratch. Stick with it RP!

Frustrating

Version 2.8
An incredibly frustrating app. Great when it works but never keeps you logged in to your tracker, so have to re-enter details even if just flicking to another app for a few seconds. Also fails to restore my subscription most of the time so can’t download edition unless I pay more. End up downloading from the RP newspaper reader app instead which is fine but because it won’t let me download on this app it also won’t let me use the tracker etc without downloading that days edition.
When it all comes together it’s great but getting so frustrated with it!

Would be 5 stars undoubtedly but for no live updates which fail to load and the team advise it must be an isolated problem with my iPad Pro as no one else reported an issue?
Also have old iPad which strangely also won't load.
IT team inform me it will be a few weeks before App update released. Come on, you can do better than that.
Not critical to a subscription but only 90% value until they fix the problem.

1st class AP that provides a wealth of information for the discerning punter and really good that you get it from 8pm the day before. It is something no serious punter can be without. Only issues relate to it crashing from time to time and more frustratingly when I was locked out for 2 days which included Grand National day. Superb app. The only improvement I could suggest is to change it so that you don't have to keep logging in to the organiser - very annoying. As a bare minimum, could you change it so that you can "tick" to remember the username/email so that, at the very least, you'd only need to enter your password? Other than that, it's a fantastic app that works brilliantly and looks great. Very impressed.

I enjoy the Racing Post App, and think it is well organised, BUT I echo other reviewers in thinking it a shame you have to choose between being a member and subscribing to the paper. Sure, I could do both, but there is a good deal of overlap in coverage, and therefore subscribing to both should enjoy a substantial discount. Otherwise, I find it a great alternative.

It is a good app gives you the heads up from 8pm the day before. Their are a few issues that could be improved in my opinion.
I like to annotate the paper version making notes all the way through, their should be more in the way of highlighting or annotating. Particularly around the stories at the beginning of the paper I personally like to make notes on what has been said. Also you can hold the horses on the card to remove them but it means swapping from the form to the card all the time.
A few issues regarding downloading, failed downloads are all to common and it won't download if the screen is locked which is a pain.

Great app, but.....

It's a great app but I wish the general price per edition was a lot cheaper than buying the full newspaper. Surely it's more productive and cost efficient for them to produce an app than publish the paper. There is less in the app than in the newspaper but you do get enough info within each edition and the fact that you can save your horses and organise your picks is a real bonus. I like the reminders it' sends you when the horses are entered into an upcoming race. A real good app really, but try and wait for the offers, for example I got the full editions until July for £99, which works out a mere 99p a day.... Bonus.

Great app easy to use and nice to read the paper the night before but couple of suggestions
1) On the tracker can you find a way to distinguish between the flat and jumps horses....maybe a different colour
2) can the tracker be used on the I Phone as well as the I Pad
Apart from those small suggestions a great app to use

Most of all, this is quite simply THE racing app - all the quality of the paper publication is enhanced by the superb interactivity and intuitive navigation. A joy to use and packed with useful tools and recent upgrades such as the tracking facility. It's also a brilliant app in its own right that makes both the content and the functionality of the Racing Post and the I-Pad truly come into its own. Brilliant!!!

Real shame they did a half job on this. Its a great app as a newspaper but at the prices I wouldn't buy for that. I pay ultimate membership already and use the RP for form, analysis and the racing replays.
Now if they did the app that gave you the ability to look at the cards ratings and analysis in exactly the same way the website does AND they got all the races in HTML5 so we can watch replays the you could charge £50 a month and make it value
At the moment just not interested. Really lacking.

I can't be the only person who uses RP almost exclusively for sports betting, and after completing a questionnaire re same several years ago, I think the time is ripe for an App that does just that. RP's current App omits all the odds charts for ongoing events (the TdF to name one), and fails totally to advertise RP's very own "Specials" like today's Football Season review. I just happened to see it advertised in a hard copy last week. So come on RP, there must be a need for a (possibly) rebranded App, that is geared towards those of us who prefer a wee punt on the golf, footie, cycling, et al?

The latest update has lost EVERY SINGLE edition I have bought. As someone who buys RP for interesting interviews and features, this is a disaster, as I now can't read them at my leisure - or even at all! A complete waste of £1.99 per issue. I'm waiting to hear if/how much RP will credit to my RP wallet for me to buy the PDF versions in future... But the ones I've lost are mostly irreplaceable. If you're a racing/horse fan rather than a betting fan, do yourself a favour and buy the PDF edition instead.

The Racing Post ipad app is everything that the serious investor needs, helpful that it is published so early the day before, only one criticism is that it is tied in with William Hill, would be better if you had the choice of Bookmaker to lay your bets with.
Still one or two niggling problems that need ironing out.

This app is very user friendly I'm would give it 5 stars if it had signposts and a direct link to hit what time of race you want to view when in card mode, I feel for the money you are asking for subscription each it warrants every feature of the daily published version but apart from this it's very user friendly. I would also like to see a feature when reading stories that you can increase the text as my eyesight is not the best due to my current health so that would be nice as I'm sure I'm not the only person that would benefit from this slight tweak but all in all very smooth.

I have followed horse racing for a lot of years and never bought the paper . I like the app because I don't have to go out in all weathers to get racing information and a lot cheaper than the paper version, and I can get pricewise the evening before.

Seems like dog fans are the forgotten ones in this Racing Post app. I would not pay a subscription for this online version, with no greyhound section. I know I may be in the minority as a greyhound fan but it does form part of the paper, so why is it not on the online version.
The Sport section seems to make it alright but not the dogs.
So come on Racing Post get your act together and put everything that you can buy in the paper in the online version.
It costs the same !!

The app is sometimes frustrating as it does not always load easily and often appears to crash back to the front page. However, The information included and the articles are entertaining and informative.
The editions do rapidly take up the storage pace in the iPad and there is no apparent easy way to delete old editions. I had to delete the app and then reinstall to ensure I had storage space on my ipad

This online publication is an interactive version of the newspaper. I like the fact you can customise the form information and racing cards.
Most of this information is available on the free desktop version of the Racing Post website. But for iPad users, if you are the sort of person that requires all the data from the newspaper then this is very good.

Although I'm not a regular reader of the app copy I must compliment those responsible for producing a top of the range read. Articles are excellent, results with analysis generally through very quickly and race cards excellent for information.

The punters bible on iPad, quick and easy to find your way around. I am still on month free and more of a weekend punter. If its possible to download on a pay per view it will be a bonus. Month contract not for me .RP. I like the make your own notes and alerts for next Time out feature. Covers the greyhounds (no race cards ) and very good RP sports coverage. It looks like you can keep the archive copies you want to hold on to, festivals etc. Delete the ones you don't want .

As someone who works in the horse racing industry I find this app really useful. The only issue is that I only have the 16gb iPad s it gets full really quickly. I would like to be able to archive old editions and recall as and when required rather than having to delete them. Lovely and clear to read.

Very good. Easy to navigate around. Great that you can get the latest news and tips at 8 pm the night before. I like it, but will not be subscribing monthly, I will take out single copy subscriptions as and when I plan to watch or bet,

As a regular Racing Post reader this app is like a gift from the racing Gods. What a major plus it is to get the paper the night before - and cheaper than the shops! It occasionally resets while open but it's no big deal and I can access live text commentary from within the app during racing. This is amazing value in my opinion and a must for serious punters

Not quite sure why everyone else appears to have problems. I have been using for some time now and it is the best racing app available. Well laid out, easy to navigate and contains more info than the paper. What are the bad reviews for? Works perfectly for me!

Great that racing post have given this app a free trial period but would have preferred it cheaper when period is over. Have found easy to navigate and find the info i need. Handy when a busy raceday ie boxing day to find the info with ease! Certainly easier than going out to find/buy a copy!

Like it and has good features. Would be good to add horses to notebook from cards or results pages and would be killer app if you could see if they were running without having to buy the paper or perhaps even get email or badge alerts if you have a runner.

As always, an excellent product from the Post. Just two issues which prevent top marks at the moment - no Diomed comments on each horse as available in the paper edition; and you cannot drill down into a lifetime form analysis as you can on the website. But nevertheless, a superb effort by the boys at the Post.

Excellent in every respect. If you enjoy your horse racing it is essential, the ability to read the edition the evening before publication is invaluable. I have experienced very few problems with downloads etc. As a horse racing fan this is what iPad was designed for!

Outstanding. You can start your studying of the next day's racing from 8pm. It works extremely well, and is intuitive and easy to navigate through. I actually took it to Towcester with me at the beginning of the month - much easier than messing around with a paper copy that gets affected by the wind and leaves you covered in newsprint. Obviously you want your iPad in a sturdy case, and to be there for racing rather than drinking purposes to keep your iPad safe.
If you have an iPad and buy the Racing Post regularly there's little reason not to swap. Certainly as far as horse racing is concerned, although take the free trial to confirm you aren't missing anything you need. If greyhound cards are your thing it's a different matter.

Overall this is an excellent app and is true to its box description. Features which cannot be included in the hard copy, such as database and race commentaries, are valuable additions.
However there are tweaks that could, without much difficulty, be beneficially carried over from the hard copy, in a similarly easy-to-read format.
1 - For ease of tote betting, races could be numerically denoted as could Legs for the scoop6. Also which races are eligible for trifectas would be helpful, especially the carryover race on Saturdays. (This would require the cooperation of Betfred, but would obviously be beneficial to them).
2 - Draw advantage in flat races
3 - Trainers' record at the relevant meetings could be divided into 2yo, 3yo+, hurdles, chases and bumpers as appropriate, and also with first time out 2yos. Also jockeys' percentage success rate with trainer utilising their services.
4 - 'Selection Box' should contain the source of each tip for each race.
5 - Horses you choose to 'dismiss' from a race should remain 'dismissed' until you choose to 're-instate' them.
These amendments would take the app to 4.9 stars. (Nothing's perfect).
Or then again, is it just me?!
Finally, personal thanks to Will Pepper for prompt responses and friendly help over time.

Very good, but VERY expensive !

Excellent app which I received free for a trial month. Can't fault it apart from on pricing. I pay just under £9 monthly subscription to receive the Times 6 days a week and the Sunday Times every Sunday. This is £25 for a specialist app which I would not use everyday. Even the £2 daily charge is over the top. Reduce these prices and you've got another customer.

This has been a big improvement since the last update. Mainly buy the RP for the sport section and having the paper available to me the night before means I can study all my bets before I go to work. Great stuff.

Love this!!! Even better than the paper, as also have access to the RP database so can view horse's lifetime form and own notes.
Daily picture gallery is a nice touch too, best of all though is not having to find a newsagent which still has some copies of the paper by 10am!
Would be nice to be able to watch videos through the app, but otherwise hard to fault.

"Yes there have been teething troubles but the latest version appears to have fixed the issues and I can only speak as I find. Using wireless it downloads without a hitch. Getting the next day's newspaper edition on the Ipad from 8pm is a strong selling point. All the news, tipping and features are in your lap and the layout of the cards makes them impressively user friendly. If you are fan of the paper then this is a brilliant product. What's not to like?"

Works perfectly and all previous glitches appear to have been ironed out. Content is what you'd expect of an industry leader and everything is well laid out, while I find the ability to tailor cards (rank by breeding, ratings etc) a particularly invaluable form-study aid.

Think this is a very good app but a few little tweaks could make it excellent. Firstly there needs to be a heavily discounted price for Racing Post Members Club subscribers as a great deal of the content is the same.
Secondly as mentioned in many other reviews the occasional crash must be sorted but I'm willing to put this down to teething problems especially as the offered a free month trial.
I also feel that the Organiser should be linked to your notes on the Racing Post site so that info doesn't have to be entered twice.
Finally, unlike a previous reviewer I feel thankful that this app is NOT linked to one particular bookmaker as I'm sure many of you out there are severely restricted by a great deal of bookmakers in the size of the bets you can place!

As with many of the RP products, value for money will divide opinion. Can't see me paying for the content all that often, which is a shame as the app is slick, lavish and does what it says on the tin. There are a couple of nice additional touches and its been a while coming but again the RP will exclude many through its pricing.

Great app. Everything you need to know on horses using the database that they have. Copy of the newspaper and the organiser tool is awesome!
Free trial easy to access and it's unfair that people have rated 1 star! This is easily a 5 star app!
Great work again Racing Post team! The paper is good enough but this app is unreal!!! *****

Racing Post went and done it. While the iPhone app is brilliant this is much closer to the real deal, i.e. getting a newspaper from the stand at Waiterose. Quality of execution is great and can I just say... Competitor files?
I was lucky to get a sneak peak some time ago so rushed to download as soon as I had the chance.
Thank you guys for making my day.
