Unfortunately, when you switch station after playing any song from the custom playlist while driving a vehicle, the song of the playlist will continue to play. If you press the home bottom and go back into the app, the music stops, but then when you go back to the tape deck station the app closes. I’m on iOS 14.3 by the way.

Vice City is an excellent game that’s let down by this port. Constant pop in that makes driving much harder, low quality textures, audio glitches, crashes are all frequent. Not enough to ruin the experience, but this game strongly needs a 20th anniversary update. It might have been novel to play this on an iPhone 5 in 2012, but there’s no excuse for this game to run this poorly on my iPhone 11.

The game play of this game is unplayable. When ever driving, the radio takes over. trying to stay left changes the radio to go left, and the same when trying to turn right. This had such a great potential to replicate the console games, but did anyone even test this game on a phone? There needs to be a fix so changing the radio doesn’t take over driving on every single corner

GTA VC on a M1 Macbook Pro

Great game, But the GTA 3 port certainly had more play-testing, Compared to VC with its 'Publicity Tour' mission having a bugged ending if you fail the mission, This has led to me accidentally doing 2 missions at once and corrupting my first save file. Look out for the occasional bugs, But would still recommend. Currently at the Buisness missions before the final one ('Keep your Friends Close...') and I havent found any others.
Would like to note down that the GTA mobile ports
on M1 Macs require a controller, Which makees the game run like the PS2 versions.
Edit:
Can confirm the whole game works now, I have finsihed GTA VC and can tell you that 'Publicity Tour' is the only mission you might find any bugs that could ruin your run-through unless you get really indepth with the game.
This GTA can run on both PS5 and PS4 Controllers from my experience. I dont know about Xbox Controllers but they should work.

Playing gta vice city on mobile is very underrated
It’s fun driving around and playing missions on the go but the only thing I find difficult playing on mobile is aiming guns other than that I would highly recommend 😁

Just one of the best games ever made proof that 20 years later it still looks good and it’s relevant. I was 10 yrs old when this came out didn’t understand much and just been stealing cars and shooting up and down. But now as an adult I see this as my second chance of really diving deep into this game. The graphics are much better than San Andreas for sure.

I’ve been playing this Vice City game ever since this game came out on ps2. It’s my top GTA game I really like. It isn’t realistic but more like cartoon\anime. I don’t like the GTA 5 game as it’s too horrific graphics. I also like GTA San Andreas. I don’t know what it is but Vice City just suits me.

GTA Vice City is my favourite out of the trilogy I got with it. I absolutely love this game and I recommend this to everyone who likes these types of games. I thought maybe you could get a phone call from the colonel saying “My daughter wants to see you again, Tommy.” The girl on the boat at the beginning. Maybe she could give you missions too but like where she makes you take her out and stuff. Then she could help you with other missions too once hers are completed. Anyways, best game EVER! Please read it and do an update of this. Also, maybe you could kiss the girl too.

In the core game, the controls-overlay is quarter the size of the actual screen. A pity, since the game has been fantastic up until the last updates to iOS. Please fix so I can continue to play my favourite GTA again.

Works as expected obviously no touch controllers, as it maps the screen to the touchpad, and I noticed a review complaining about no keyboard support, when non of the ios games don't even support one.

When I first played this game I had dial up internet with download speeds of around 80kbits/s. At that time it was clunky, prone to glitching and absolutely brilliant. Playing it now on my iPad it’s super smooth, graphics are razor sharp and I absolutely love feeling twenty years younger! Thank you Rock Star Games. Worth every penny paid xx

It feels like im actually driving through my phone, the story is compelling (especially in sa) and i highly, highly recommend you buy any of the gta ios ports, they are all amazing and have their own unique city and mechanics

Really good game, on the pc,ps or phone... but the problem I have is... Iv gotten to a point where im pretty far in and all of a sudden I go to load my game and it takes me back to my phone menu screen?? I’m not sure what’s happening but please could you try to update or sort this issue out as It took me ages to get to where I was and really don’t want to start all over... really good game though for the price but please sort this loading problem !!! After playing GTA VC on my phone for a few hours it works great, similar to pc. Touchscreen controls might be difficult for some, but you get used to it quickly, or you can attach your own controller to your phone. The graphics and audio is just like the original GTA VC release 15+ years ago and is a feel good memory jogger. Would recommend.

Loved this game in the beginning however, i went onto it to play "resumed game" got a call, declined it. While still being on the game and then it suddenly made me start a whole new game from the beginning after everything !!!!! and to top it off all my previous games are bloody saved but i cant even play them i literally have to start all over again do the missions again etc and sorry but i didnt pay 4.99 or however much this game was just for me to lose it all and not even be able to play a saved game. whats the point? might aswel just delete

I’m not a huge fan of mobile games but loved Vice City from my childhood so I thought why not.
The controls work surprising well, but it is far better connecting a PS4 controller and playing with that.

I loved this when it came out and it is just as good as the original in my opinion. I have completed the missions and a lot of the extra stuff and have had no issues whatsoever. People complain about the controls but you’ve got to remember this is quite an old game now they weren’t great when it was released especially when compared to modern games. This is exactly how I remember it, including the laugh out loud moments. I’ve also completed GTA SA which is great as well. When are we going to get GTA 4 and 5?

Now the Tape Deck issue has been fixed, the game is working as it should!
As a suggestion, can I recommend a 4 finger tap bring up a keyboard on screen so that cheats can be entered? Doom Classic has this as a feature, and it would work well here! 👍🏻

As it should after the app update...😞 But the performance is excellent on iPad air and iPhone X. But can’t get my list of songs in my library from my iPad Or iPhone to work at all. I’ve did what it said to name the playlist as vicecity and turned on media access. but doesn’t appear to be synchronised with the music player to the vice city game for some reason. I really love this game and hope this feature is fixed. It brings flashbacks to the time i’ve played it on the PS2.

A game that needs no introduction. Although GTA 3 started the format of the game as it is today; arguably this has dated far better as it was Vice City that introduced memorable soundtracks and voice acting talent, with boats, planes and bikes added to vehicles which the player can control.
This has improved graphics over the Playstation 2 with more detailed models, a higher native resolution and frame rate, and overall better lighting and effects and added graphical details to the world which were not present in the original.
Many of the bugs present in the console appear to have been removed, for better or for worse depending on your view.
The soundtrack is amazing; much better than GTA 3 featuring well known 1980's licensed songs.
Overall the game is an outstanding technical achievement on mobile; making no compromises to bring you a fully remastered and optimised version of the full game.
With customisable, movable and resizable touch controls everyone should be able to find a scheme that suits. A great bit of gaming nostalgia.

UPDATE: My cloud saves no longer work between IPad and iPhone, I really do not wish to start a new game. I save in the cloud slots. But nothing happens. It shows old progress or nothing at all on the other device.

EDIT: CONTROL ICON PLACEMENT FIX:
If you have the same issue I did upon starting this post-update where the icons are where they were pre-update... Simply:
At the main menu, go six buttons across to find ‘options’ and enter options. Tap the first button, ‘controls’ and merely tap ‘restore defaults’. This resets the controller layout and allows the full device width to be used for the controls. If this doesn’t do it, try going to ‘display’ and tapping ‘restore defaults’. While I didn’t need to re-load the app for it to work, it may help.

Totally unplayable - do not buy until fixed

First of all, I have given a previous 5 star review of this game, back when it worked.
As it stands since the last time I downloaded it, it’s received an update and iOS has updated. One of these 2 things has caused this game to permanently stutter throughout gameplay. It works for a few seconds and then stops, works and stops, meaning that whatever you’re doing driving, shooting, fighting, walking becomes inaccurate and unplayable. There are many other reviews stating this.
I’ve reported this to rockstar, who have, blamed my device. But it’s on the list, has played the game before, I’ve reset the device and have this game as the only app on the device, same problem. Rockstar have said they’re aware of a fault and are looking into it, but there’s reviews 4 or 5 months old reporting the same issue. I’ve advised they take the game down until the issue is resolved so people don’t waste their money on a game which at present is unplayable, and yet it’s still here.
Sort it out rockstar.
Steering sensitivity adjustment needed

The game is mostly great and perhaps in some ways better than ever but could do with a few changes in the controls. I have been playing both the pc and mobile version of vice city and i have noticed that the steering rate is faster / more sensitive on the pc version of the game allowing for faster more confident control of vehicles especially when navigating traffic and changing direction. The bikes especially feel more sluggish when changing direction on the mobile version of the game. This is not an input lag or response time problem but more a steering sensitivity issue. As far as i can tell there is no steering sensitivity adjustment on vice city mobile. The aiming and shooting aspect of the game is less enjoyable in this version of the game. Some tweaks there could benefit a lot i think. Controls like some of the better mobile fps games like would be great.
Juddering and freezing screen

Unfortunately I have to give this game 1 star. The game itself is brilliant it’s a real nostalgia trip. However after about an hour of playing, the game screen just freezes and judders making the game absolutely unplayable. Problem is it now constantly does it when you load the game, so the game is now forever unplayable. Rockstar can you sort this please as I’ve seen from other reviews we’ve all payed good money for this and deserve better. I’m not after a refund just the issue fixed and making this what I know would be a 5 star game.

This game brings back a lot of memories. It was my clear favourite from the PS2 trilogy of Grand Theft Auto Games. The amazing 80s soundtrack is bang on.
Game play takes a bit of getting used to and I think this is really just a time-passer rather than something I’ll actually play with an intention of getting far or to completion. The major hurdle will be the incredibly infuriating lag!
I’m running an iPhone 8 64gb on the iOS 12.1.2. with approx 32gb of storage remaining but the game lags so much it’s just unplayable. What’s happening Apple and Rockstar??

Bought this game to use on my iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen and iPhone XS Max. Loaded quickly and game saves are quick and save to iCloud.
That’s the good things. Unfortunately, this game isn’t optimised for newer Apple devices or newer iOS, the game lags and freezes so much that it’s unplayable. Rebooting and reinstalling the game doesn’t help either. Shame as I was prepared to invest hours into this classic.

At first I started gta 5 on Xbox then bought vice city and there is a big difference on iPhone you can’t play online that’s good tho because you don’t get killed 24/7 or let other players effect your game but I find it hard to earn $$$ that’s to only annoying thing

Alright so in fairness it’s a great game and to be honest it ran quite smoothly however after many hours into the story the game up and stopped working on me. Every time I tried loading the game the main start up sequence played however when pressing the resume button or loading a save the loading bar gets very close to the end and then the app just shuts. I have no idea what could cause this problem my phones fully updated and so is the app it worked perfectly fine before but now this happened. I have noticed that this bug can be fixed but I have to uninstall and reinstall the app however this makes all my game progress reset on top of the fact that the issue is only momentarily fixed before happening again. All I want is my favourite child hood game to play once again on my phone tho with the current issues I’m facing now I either want this fixed or a refund.

As other recent reviews have stated, this game used to be fantastic and run like a dream on IOS. After numerous updates from Apple however, this game is no longer playable. Playing for more than a few minutes, the game will start to stutter and grind to near enough a halt, at which point restarting the app is the only option..... another few minutes of playing after restarting the app and you are in the exact same boat...... rebooting the phone or reinstalling the app does not fix this issue. It is a shame cause as previously stated, this game used to be amazing on this platform, but Rockstar don’t seem interested in assisting with this issue as the last update was over 2 years ago!

I was really enjoying this game only to find that after a couple of days playing the frame starts to freeze every few seconds. I figured maybe it was too much RAM being used on my phone only to find that wasn’t the case. So I deleted and reinstalled. Lost one save point in the process and the issue is still there. Read through the one star reviews to find others having the same issue. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Loved this game back in the day, and was looking forward to playing the mobile version on my iPhone 8, however after a couple of minutes of game play the game starts to freeze frame! Really annoying and have to stop playing it! Thought the upgrade to iOS 12 might solve the issue, but no it’s exactly the same!!

Absolutely poor, no updates in over 2 years and still sold on App Store. Rockstar, it isn’t enough to say ‘compatible with these older phones only’ when most people haven’t owned these older phones since the app got released!
Move with the times and update your app or remove it from the store! Because as it stands your fantastic game is an unplayable mess in this app, filled with freezing frames and becoming nothing more than a slide show within a minute of use. Unacceptable on an iPhone 8 Plus on IOS 12. Sort it or refund please!

Love this game so much everything is exactly the Same as the classic version on PS2 & Xbox except now with better graphics and improved sound for better enhanced gameplay experience and story line is still one of the Best GTA games of all time I love the old retro classics like this I definitely think it’s worth its price especially when it’s a small price to pay for a whole lot of hours worth of enjoyment and fun 😁😄👌👍😃

I have this on my iPad Pro 10.5 and this device should play such an old game with ease. The game keeps freezing for a fraction of a second, and sometimes up to a couple of seconds very regularly. Having looked through the reviews others are experiencing this on the 10.5 iPad also. I have spent money on many more rockstar games with no issue, but I can’t play this like it is so I would like my money back please. Rockstar please tell me how I do this as your game in this instance is not fit for purpose!
Edit:- So it didn’t work properly on my IPad so I try my IPhone 8 Plus. Works for the first 15 minutes of gameplay then the freezing and the bugs are just a complete joke. This must an issue with the latest iOS. If Rockstar are not going to update this game then don’t sell it you thieves. I want my money back from Apple/Rockstar!! How do I do this??????? I will take this to an ombudsman mark my words!!

Amazing game and I’ve loved playing it. I had it on my 6s before and it was brilliant, however, now I’ve upgraded my phone to the 7 plus it now doesn’t fit the screen and there are massive boarders left and it’s hard to control.. but overall a great game, just needs fixing!

15 years ago was the last time I played this. And to be honest I’m almost enjoying it more this time around. The retro style and sound is even more infectious because its nostalgia upon nostalgia. Those 80s tunes, if you weren’t a fan already, will get you if you played the PS2 version at release. The Sabre Turbo engine note is equally beautiful.
The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the first person aiming. It’s truly terrible. If you have a controller it may be a different story but I’m playing pure iPad. I loved the way you could look sideways or behind with a ps2 controller while driving flat out too, that’s lost here also but it’s bearable.
All in all, nothing compares to 15 years ago playing this on PlayStation, but I don’t regret buying this for a second. What a game. If you loved the original release but you can’t play on PS2 or PC, you’ll still love this on your iDevice.

Even better than back in the day as next to no loading time. Controls (I use simulated analogue stick) slightly frustrating at times. But more than bearable with it being so excellent in every other aspect. Not to mention the brilliant radio stations. Very happy with this purchase 👍🏻

The game is very good but a lot of the time when I try to open and play the game it goes to the loading screen, finishes loading and instead of loading the game it takes me back to my ipads homescreen. Please fix this rockstar

Epic game!! The game is as I remember it all the years ago on PlayStation! I even had it on an old iPhone some years ago and recently got another iPhone similar which reminded me of this game so I had to go take a look and couldn't resist purchasing it! So much fun and so many missions and challenges available as well as just playing free roam earning money in vigilante officer mode being a favourite 😃

Beautiful graphics, fast paced and intense yet smooth gameplay, excellent soundtrack consisting of some of the electric 80s greatest hits and an engaging character and story line.

Me personally, and you can call me what you want, I've spent almost 56 hours on this game. I've 💯% completed it and I can promise you that every main mission and side mission is well put together and very engaging.
Ray Liotta did an amazing job whilst voicing Tommy Vercetti. He plays a likable, quick-witted and temperamental Italian American scarface-style gangster who wants more out of life than running around for those in higher places. Tommy is definitely my favorite Grand Theft Auto protagonist so far.
The city is bustling with activity and personality, every man or woman walking the streets has their own dialogue and story, giving the game a realistic feel. The cars are stylish and shiny and every engine purrs like a kitten. The golden beaches stretch for miles and the waters are still and blue. The buildings are tall and colorful whilst the echoing sound of muffled music from nearby nightclubs blasts through the city.
I just loved every second of every hour that I put into this game and I thank Rockstar for bringing it to iOS. Keep it up Rockstar.

Grand Theft Auto Vice City was the first GTA game I had ever played out of the whole series. I enjoyed playing this game so much and I still do to this day. I have found no bugs/glitches with the IOS Version at the moment and highly recommend buying and playing this game if you are a GTA fan. Enjoy!

I loved this game 12 years ago when I first played it and this conversion is great. You have to be willing to play around with the settings and control layout but it works fine once you do, I've found a few missions I remember less awkward this time round. It has one of the best soundtracks, characters and story lines of any of the GTAs with a cast list you'd expect from a Hollywood blockbuster. Like all GTAs you have loads of side missions and stuff to find and although it shows it's age when compared to GTA 4 and 5 it's still a pleasure to play through. Given the pace at which mobile/tablet tech is advancing I can't wait to see GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption hit the market and looking at the progress Rockstar has made at converting games to touchscreen I have every faith they will do it brilliantly.

This is a great game for iOS, but it's a shame there are not more GTA games for mobile devices with touchscreen features like in GTA Chinatown Wars.
What would be good is if there was a remastered version of Grand Theft Auto Advance that played from the same prospective as GTA Chinatown Wars, but still had the same cutscenes and missions, please Rockstar Games make Grand Theft Auto Advance Remastered for iOS!!!!!
Also please Rockstar Games can we have Max Payne 2 Mobile for iOS, that would be a dream come true!!!!!

When I first bought this game, I really expected it to be dreadful like most iPhone games. I decided to buy it anyway as I loved GTA Vice City back in the day. I must say that I love this game. It's easy to play, and very fun. The combat can be a little tricky but you have to expect that with an iPhone game. If you haven't bought this already, then I highly recommend you do so!
