This Daily Mail App is awful. It frequently stops working and also states I haven’t subscribed (which I have and am half way through a years subscription). I have emailed on the web help section the issues but haven’t had a reply. My husband a recently retired IT professional also has tried lots of things such as rebooting the IPad trying downloading the app again etc etc. Also when it was working it lost the entries I made for a competition which I again queried twice and got no answer.

All my mum wants is to read a newspaper on her iPhone, but this is a very poor user experience, there are two views the newspaper as printed and another text view if you touch the article, its too easy to touch the article and go into text view by mistake, the pages take ages to load, as you scroll through the pages it keeps coming up asking you to accept cookies, you accept them and move on and asked to accept more cookies. This is extremely annoying and enough to put anyone off. The version which looks like a newspaper is covered with link icons, again its easy to accidentally touch these on a small device like a phone. When my mum is take off somewhere she wasnt expecting she doesnt know how to get back, we wont be renewing and Im just glad we only paid a significantly reduced price for the subscription.

I used the original Mail app for many years with no problems. The mail+ app is a different kettle of fish altogether. Clunky, difficult to use and takes forever to load pages I wish to read but that may be due to being 79 years old (me that is, not my I-pad, a totally reliable machine). As you have probably surmised, I am not a fan of Your latest update and I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription and going back to buying it daily. It is not fully compatible with Apple iPad.

Frustrating when a puzzle is completed, the timer ticks away while you delete a correct entry and re-insert the identical entry for it to finish.

If you correct a wrong number on Sudoku, the correct number will still show red (as if it is wrong), until you press the ‘check’ button.

Don’t even bother asking it to show the answer, an option on quizzes, as it won’t do this - it will just go back to the start.

It’s been like this for quite a while so don’t expect it to be fixed in the next year.

I am very disappointed that this App has been changed. I am partially sighted and have been using the app for several years with no problems. I find the new version impossible to navigate, the font size adjustment does not give the same view. The news items do not appear in the same order as in the print version which my husband reads, and are often repeated. There are numerous pages promoting pod casts, and these pages are repeated numerous times and are the same ones every day. These pages are in very small font which can’t be altered. Illustrations are not published alongside the articles to which they refer. All in all, I find this app increasingly frustrating as I have to scroll through numerous pages of rubbish to find relevant content. And why is the quick crossword o the last page not available? I would like to receive a response to review but I do not get the impression that the editors are interested in giving readers what they want.

The ‘upgraded’ app is getting there and if they keep working on it, it may eventually get back up to the standard of the old app.

For example, for months, people have been asking for puzzles to work offline as they did in the old app. Now they’ve said the feature is ‘on the way’. Well, I have headed up IT development for 30 years and frankly, if solving something as trivially simple took as long as this to resolve for clients, particularly as it used to work fine, heads would deservedly roll.

Oh, and please get the puzzle timer working properly. Often in iOS it simply fails to start running when a puzzle is started. I can get you some code to show you how it’s done. Or simply ask any teenage developer who would probably fix it for you in about an hour.

It seems that we are not the only ones to lose access to the puzzles section of the app. In our case, even when on line. I find it strange that I can access the puzzles on my Galaxy phone and home PC, but not on my iPad, which is where we prefer to do the quick crossword as you can see all the clues at the same time. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it, but it makes no difference. I have also emailed Mail+, receiving acknowledgement of receipt but no further communication. Having been regular purchasers of the Mail fo nearly 50 years, we are very disappointed in the lack of support we have received and will seriously consider cancelling our subscription when due for renewal and consider changing our newspaper publisher.

Why have you changed it?

Before

1. It was easy to see which editions had been downloaded and delete old ones.

2. Easy to find a subject you wanted

3. Could download the latest edition and then could access it all when in airplane mode especially the puzzles

4. Whilst downloading I could swipe through the pages to the end to check the overall view and return to the first page via the contents.

5. When clicking on an article I could choose to read using a medium size text.

Now

1. It takes several presses before I can see what is downloaded. Then another press to edit so that I can delete

2. Where is the contents button?

3. I can’t play puzzles in airplane mode. I try and download my favourites and it works at first in airplane mode but then later I can’t access them

4. I’ve swiped to the end, but how do I get back to the start without swiping back every page?

5. Clicking on an article results in small text on my iPad mini. If I try the AA button, the slider control only gives me large text. There is no happy medium size text

As I buy the Mail Newspaper for my husband to read each day I buy the internet free month with my points. It getting more difficult to do this . I have sought help and thought the response I got had worked. I think I will have to change to another daily newspaper rathe than be treated like this. I feel cheated

Excellent way to read paper. Is instant, clear and bolder on iPad and saving the environment with less newspaper paper. Recommend to anyone was a great move to change to getting my papers this way.

This article provides a man’s experience that is both shocking, and thought provoking. Whilst the narrative is essentially from the victim’s viewpoint, and therefore biased, it allows the reader to empathise with a situation that we might find ourselves in, that could escalate to such a ridiculous extent. It leaves us to wonder what are our police priorities are, and whether

‘ Policing by consent ‘ has any relevance today.

I would also like to applaud the article by Alex Brummer. He uses facts to reveal the true extent of the unfettered greed of certain private companies, and the criminal negligence of successive governments to curb their corrosive drive to prioritise profits above any attempt to provide even the basic provision of service that the paying public has every reason to expect.

My husband and I both get a copy of the Daily Mail on our IPads, so we are often reading it at the same time. This is great for us because we like to discuss the well written articles!

I like this new app especially because it downloads automatically.

I have recommended this app to lots of my friends. We live in Fuerteventura so buying the Daily Mail is unfortunately quite expensive and often difficult to find.

I’ve had the app for a couple of years now and enjoy the simplicity of waking up of a morning knowing that the current edition is ready for me to read.

No need to get dressed, go out in all weathers or have to read a soggy issue pushed through my letterbox.

I have only given four stars instead of five because I have found the last update of the App has made it much more difficult to find things than previously. For example trying to find the skeleton and barebones crosswords at the weekend is now really difficult. I previously printed it out on my computer at home so that I could do it at my leisure but finding it is very difficult. The new format does not work well on a computer.

I preferred the old app although it was more difficult to navigate between the paper and the supplements

I can’t cut and paste specific elements onto WhatsApp etc it has to be the full article

It still has glitches in it that are not sorted and I wish they would sort the odd spelling and typo errors that annoy

Although retired, still awake by six am, seven days a week, so each morning collect iPad and start reading, complete puzzles until time to get moving, shower, breakfast etc. Instead of showering, dressing and waiting for local newsagent to open to collect paper. I hate to be negative about anything but the new Mail + is annoying and it’s spoiling my enjoyment of reading my newspaper. The original format was far easier and superior to this new one.

I’m a great believer in “ if it ain’t broken don’t fix it “ I suppose it’s to do with more advertising or updating the programme, I don’t really know, what I do know is this new Mail + is frustrating and awkward to navigate, it takes too long and is a faff therefore I lose patience and give up. Please if you really care about your reading public, sort it out. I’ve persevered but I still don’t like it, it’s a shame because I’ve downloaded my Daily Mail for years but I’m so disappointed with this version. I’m reluctant to cancel my subscription but I really don’t think I can continue with it in its new format

Took away the reason why I was subscribing. Will cancel my subscription & switch to apps that still let me keep my fav text clippings. Even Kindle lets you copytext your fav paragraphs for future ref, and this is only a newspaper, chucked after 1 day, not a book for life.
