Amazing app, could use some more features.

Version 2.4.3
This app is brilliant, I use it more than any other photo app I’ve ever used and it is definitely worth the money. Would be great if we saw occasional new features being added (and a ‘what’s new’ pop up with every update). Would not mind if the features came out in packs that we could buy.

Version 2.4.3
Pixelmator is extremely powerful when it comes to image manipulation and composition of multiple layers.. I would like to see PNG support as well. There is a glaring lack of fonts in this app and the inability to use natively installed fonts is extremely annoying. Powerful but limited.. If you want to compose image based design this is your app!

Version 2.4.3
The healing capabilities within Pixelmator are unsurpassed on iOS. Better than Lightroom, Photoshop Fix & Snapseed - this is the iPad app you want to fix blemishes etc... got an Apple Pencil? - then fix those blemishes, stamp out those unwanted pixels & sharpen with precision to your hearts desire! Would be 5 star if EXIF/IPTC data was preserved. :)

Very powerfull image editor, with some minor flaws.

Version 2.4.2
This is by far one of the best image editors I have used. It does however have a little room for improvement.
The tools are very intuitive and simple to use, but with enough complexity to make them capable of most tasks.
The touch up tools are so good, compared to other apps I have used, and I particularly like the colour adjustment, with rgb histograms and in-image curves, you can get very precise results.
With regards to flaws, most notable for me is the location of the undo button. There are two buttons in the top left corner: Image - which takes you to your save location to select which image to work on (in doing so, it automatically saves your current picture), and undo.
In effect the save button is right next to the undo button! This has led to more than one occasion (admittedly due to my own bad aim) where I have effectively lost my work, and had to start again. This could be easily avoided by simply moving the undo button.
With an update or two, this should be an easy 5 star rating.

Version 2.4.2
I usually never leave any reviews or feedbacks for any app, but I couldn’t do for this one!
First when I’ve tried it, it looked too difficult to use. But after spending some time on it, I found it very easy to use. Of course it’s not a photoshop, but photoshop is too difficult for me, but it does have similar functions. Exactly what I was looking for! Before I’ve used old version Paint on my pc, and used to spend hours editing pictures with it. With this app, takes seconds, minutes! 5£ - spent well!
I might buy their desktop version as well!

Brilliant - except for drag and drop implementation

Version 2.4.2
When multiple objects like photos and with multiple (like the preset shape objects) other objects, become near impossible to actually rearranging. Drag and drop interferes and the app seems to select a near by shape not the one I'm touching as the layering system cannot fathom it out.

Version 2.4.1
It is a very basic editing app with a terrible usability. Most of the free applications are much better than this thing. Because of the “editor’s choice” badge they tricked me into the purchase. It does the same thing as the free ones just not as good as them. Not even close to any proper editing tool.

Version 2.4.1
I've been using this app for a year or two now and it's probably the best purchase I've made in my phone. I'll admit I only use it to amuse my friends and family (nothing professional) and it's amazing!
It would take a while to list all the features of the app but if you get it and do some button mashing then you'll soon get the hang of it!
It's like a mini photoshop but easier to learn! I would HIGHLY advise this app

Version 2.4.1
Overall a good photo editor at a reasonable price. On the surface you appear to have very limited tools but play around with it for a while and you’ll find you can actually achieve some really decent results. Having said that, it’d be nice to see a few more features into the app, especially with so much competition from other editors on the market. I’d like to see more filters and presets introduced as the ones included are very basic and not much better than iPhone stock photos. Also I think for an app advertising itself as desktop grade editing, a denoise tool is essential. Hopefully these things will come in future updates.

Version 2.4
As has been noted in an earlier review, this isn’t working at all well with the iPhone X. The ‘buttons’ near the top of the app don’t register touch most of the time, the options near the bottom of the screen get confused with the swiping up bar, and I’m also getting crashes. Frustrating.

Version 2.4
I love this app, it’s very sophisticated and to be honest for the basic tools it’s comparable to a desktop version of photoshop. The problem I have is that most of the time I’m on the move and don’t have my iPad so I have to use my phone. It was a little buggy on the 7plus but now I have the iPhone X it’s pretty much unusable as most of the tools located around the “notch” area are impossible to select most of the time... please sort this out and I’ll update to 5 stars!

Version 2.4
This used to be my go to app for editing etc. but since the past update resizing items, duplication and drag and drop are near impossible. No good for design, I’m waiting for the next update to see if these issues get resolved, if not then I’m deleting.

Bad implementation of drag-and-drop

 –
2017-10-10
Version 2.4
Opened the app today and after experiencing several crashes I felt the app must have been updated because it usually works near-perfectly.
The main thing that’s aggravating me is the implementation of drag-and-drop. While I appreciate the team working quickly to include new iOS 11 features. The way it’s been executed severely degrades a much more basic feature, simple resizing.
Working on a new design right-now and it seems every other time I try and resize an element it instead thinks I want to drag and drop. Given how often I resize elements while working on a design this is really frustrating and has left me frustrated.
I will continue to use the app, but will probably find myself using the desktop client more and more until this is addressed.

Version 2.4
I would have recommended this app when it was first released. However, this app is currently mediocre at best as it still does not support RAW image editing. This app can be regarded as the extension of Photos. The UI resembles iWork apps so that the app seems like it was developed by Apple themselves.

Great with Apple Pencil

Version 2.3.1
In an ideal world, I would like an app with raw processing capability that is affordable, but for working with JPEGs this does a decent enough job. I work on my images first in the free version of Lightroom Mobile which has a greater range of features that can be used globally. I then move the image to Pixelmator for all the 'local' changes - e.g. sharpening, blurring, cloning or repairing, which are where the Pencil strengths really come into their own. I am now looking at Affinity Photo as this seems to offer the raw processing at a reasonable price on an iPad.

Pretty appalling to even suggest that this "works" with .psd files

Version 2.3.1
Yes, it opens .psd files
Yes, it retains layers (once you find where they're hidden)
Yes, it is better than PS Express
No, it doesn't let you actually do much with your file
No, it doesn't retain 80% of your original formatting
No, it definitely doesn't work with logos (image & text)
No, it's not worth the time or effort

Regrettable purchase

Version 2.3.1
It's just not up to standards. Saving to PSD just does not work properly, lots of styles do not get carried over work is lost.
It priorities iCloud to open from cloud, not great. Can't save favourites etc.
Ok to use for mock ups but that's as as far as I'd take it or I'd be wasting time. Wanted to leave the laptop at home and replace with a tool like this but unfortunately in hindsight this does not cut it.

Decent value, but not the best.

Version 2.3.1
This used to be an app I would recommend without thinking twice, but recently it has been facing stiff competition from the likes of Affinity Photo, which are more expensive but are far more polished and offer more features. If all you need is basic photo editing (and I mean basic) then this one's for you, but if you need something more professional and capable, then look elsewhere. This having been said, Pixelmator is just about worth its price.

Version 2.3
For my first (purchased) photo editing app, I would say it was pretty decent. Easy to use and understand. Lots of editing options and variations. I would recommend this app to others.
I do have a couple of gripes though.
There is a limit set for the number of layers you can have, which is slightly irritating.
What is really annoying, is that the ruler is defaulted to pixels. Leaving me to guess how my image will look on the page once printed.
Please update to include different units of measurement i.e. mm
This will help tremendously.

I've been using this app for at least a year now and it is hands down still the best photo blending and mixing app out there for your phone. I use photoshop on my PC but for quick and easy access Pixelmator ticks all the right boxes, I would (and do) 100% recommend this to my friends.

Version 2.3
A mixed bag of an app. The apps integration with the photos app is on track to being a useful feature, once they bring in tools beyond filters.
The ability to save over images in the photos roll, rather than saving duplicates is absolutely stellar. The problem part for me is the UI Layers and the way that tools function and the parameters to change them. I would like to see better warp tools and maybe facial recognition warping?
Please improve the Layers though its such a vital part to the experience!

The instructions in this app are completely useless due to lacking an detail. A simple thing like copying and pasting a selection is a monumental task due to the app making no sense. You just end up feeling the developers have projected there own incompetence to the user. I have used apps like this for years and I am completely baffled by this one. If they want to be different from everything else that's fine but at least try to explain how to do things properly.

I've found the holy grail, lol ... I was desperately trying to distort something for an art ref, having come back to art, and, with not liking PS, was overjoyed to discover Pixelmator! The biggest ever thank you ... to be able to freely distort, AND tidy it up/lots of smudge brushes/great zoom! ... that's me sorted then, lol. So easy to use, and beautifully designed. I purchased the app because it was an editors' choice and because the reviews were very good. I was not disappointed. I am a textiles degree student and what I had hoped for is that it would do cut-outs to reveal a patterned layers underneath - so pleased to find that it does what I want! Also it is extremely easy to use. Ok, it doesn't have the functionality of all of the drawing/painting apps, but that's not the point. It has wonderful special effects too - distortion, stretch etc. A designer's dream.
