One man’s journey to discover the bitter truth about sugar. Actor Damon Gameau (Underbelly) embarks on a unique experiment to document the effects of a high sugar diet on a healthy body, consuming only foods that are commonly perceived as ‘healthy’ but which are in fact laden with hidden sugars - eg low-fat yoghurt, muesli bars, juices and cereals. Through this entertaining and informative journey, Damon highlights some of the issues that plague the sugar industry, and where sugar lurks on supermarket shelves. That Sugar Film will forever change the way you think about ‘healthy’ food.

a really bad, dull, silly documentary.

It’s okay

pretty polly pp
I guess if you’ve never watched Morgan Spurlock’s documentary and you are otherwise unfamiliar with the facts in this documentary then you could be wowed by this film. I have read a fair bit on the topic and watched a fair few films about it too, so it was just okay and I have now seen this ‘experiment’ done umpteen times before. However, this is pleasant enough watch and the chap is very likeable. Always good to reminded of the issues.

First review

But have to, because this an absolute must-watch for anyone who blindly follows conventional advice/dogma and is in poor health as a result. It’s not even about junk food as mentioned above, which is alright in moderation, but it’s the utter garbage we (in the English speaking world in particular) put in our bodies everyday thinking it’s alright, or even healthy. If this film only helps you change the way you do breakfast, it will be a huge win.

Makes you change

I saw this on the plane on the way to Vegas for a 9 day break from the UK. It was not only entertaining and factual but it made me rethink on how I eat and some of the reasons why I crave sugar and the subsequent effects. I was so affected by this movie, I didn’t have any junk food while on my trip and I have since evaluated what I eat and although its not been long, I am changing. Power to this film, watch it - you may get into it.

A must watch...

This is better than Super Size Me and probably one of the most important messages a documentary can give - remove the refined sugar from your diet!
