I really enjoyed this film. I wasn't expecting to but I was pleasantly surprised! 👍🏻
Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) are a young married couple whose life is going just as planned until a chance encounter with an acquaintance from Simon’s high school sends their world into a harrowing tailspin. Simon doesn’t recognize Gordo (Joel Edgerton) at first, but after a series of uninvited encounters and mysterious gifts prove troubling, a horrifying secret from the past is uncovered after more than 20 years. As Robyn learns the unsettling truth about what happened between Simon and Gordo, she starts to question: how well do we really know the people closest to us, and are past bygones ever really bygones? From the producer of Whiplash and The Purge, Jason Blum, comes a chilling psychological thriller that marks the feature directorial debut of acclaimed actor and writer Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby, Zero Dark Thirty, Warrior).
Good from start to finish!
very good a thiller but not good ended
Worth a watch!
it isn't a horror but a triller but the story line is a bit borring , shame the actors are good , you can predict what is going to happend
We wanted a Thriller fix and we got it. It was enjoyable but not much more. We didn't feel as if we had wasted money watching it and didn't start longing for the time back either. I probably wouldn't watch it again but nevertheless we enjoyed it.
the film was good and all but it took a while for it to actually get good the ending was kinda boring and the only thing that my friend jump was the dog barking. this movie left us at some cliff hangers and questioning who it was and it was quite predictable
Possibly, in fact, definitely the worst film i’ve seen. Not only do i judge myself for paying for a click bait trailer but also do not understand all the positive reviews. I get the idea that no one should tell lies, it comes back around and bites you yada yada yada. But i could watch any childs educational programme to learn that. Not a thriller, just a lousy attempt at making a few pennies.
Dont do it, don’t buy it, rent it - i promise you i will have saved you your money & time.
If you don’t believe me I’m painting a wall next weekend, come and watch it dry - its the same thing.
This movie is predictable and samey and a big disappointment. Do not waste your money.
Not happy that I wasted over 2 hours of my Christmas Day watching and rewinding this film. It was so weak we kept thinking we'd missed something and rewinding back. But in actual fact the film was just terrible and just when we thought something good was going to happen, it was quickly ruined by another weak twist. How is this even in the charts? After I watched it I was too tired to watch anything else!! Would rather have watched E.T. for the 100th time..
What a joy to find a gripping thriller. This is an excellent film and a definite must-see. Story line is strong and a very unexpected twist in the tail comes towards the end. Keeps you interested all the way through. Recommend 100%
A damned good film!
The film was ok but I thought it would have been better and I thought the ending was rubbish. I would not have rented this one as not worth the money and should have waited for it to come on tv
This is such an interesting film, hard to believe it is Joel Egerton’s directorial debut, I certainly hope he makes some more films. I had a few guesses at how it would ends but was wrong, really didn’t see that coming, Great to see Jason Bateman doing something a bit different.
Good all round but rather twisted revenge movie,
with a fresh take on a trusted format.
Think "Cape fear" without the violence.
Worth a rental.
Back to the good old days of 90's horror/thriller film making. A film that you can see the twist coming a mile away, yet get smacked in the face with another twist just when you weren't expecting it. Very clever
A seriously good film, the best I have seen in some years, and quite unexpected. Don't get me wrong, I like Jason Bateman and usually do enjoy his films, but from this film's description I was expecting something pretty good with the usual disappointing tail-off and duff ending. EPIC FAIL BY ME. Nope, this was rivetting from start to finish, everything I look for in a thriller including tension, suspense, plausibility, intrigue, style, meaning, class and, above all, a fantastic, jaw-dropping, show stopper of an ending - and without any disjointed fanfares, naff effects or ridiculous twists. From a technical standpoint this film had everything too, flow, cohesion, continuity, superb character-building, excellent acting (not to mention casting), brilliant direction and a natural crescendo to just about the best ending I can remember. I usually only write reviews (tbh) when I am so appalled by a film that I feel I have a social duty to warn others(!), but this was a pleasure to jump online for and review, because it is so rarely that this ardent film-lover gets such an incredible treat. I will be watching this again and again and again for many years to come. My advice? Don't hesitate - buy it now. Thank you prodcucers and cast.
