Clint (Elijah Wood), a failed writer-turned-substitute teacher, returns to his hometown where he reunites with his lifelong crush Lucy (Alison Pill) - also a teacher. On his first day on the job, a mysterious virus infects the elementary school where he teaches, transforming the kids into a feral swarm of zombies.
