Alejandro Gonzáez’s take on Michael Punke’s book is visually spectacular. DiCaprio’s character Glass, battles against native American’s and the elements, to get his revenge on Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). A great performance, though one untypical in its lack of dialogue being more body language than script. Never-the-less it’s consistently strained and fitting for such a tortuous endeavour, enhanced by Sakmoto and Dessner’s haunting music. Meanwhile, we get to immerse ourselves in the spectacular scenery of the Americas, and you really do feel the cold of the wilderness, enhanced as it is by the icy blueness of Emmanuel Lubezki’s naturalistic cinematography.
