Overall interesting film good actors.
Starring Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, A Hologram for the King follows businessman Alan Clay (Hanks) on a journey halfway around the world, far from his American roots, to a rising Saudi Arabian city. Based on the best-selling novel by Dave Eggers, Clay is dispatched to pitch a new IT contract to a wealthy King, a project that must be a success for him to stave off bankruptcy, pay his daughter's college fees, and finally accomplish something big.
His seemed like it was worth a risk but sadly it was truly terrible.
Seemed like a reasonable premise but descended into stereotypes and plodding plot points where nearly nothing happens then you are meant to believe that it somehow all resolves and ends happily.
It's kind of like Lost In Translation...in Saudi.
Didn't like that film either but at least you had Bill Murray being...well Bill Murray!
I see this film has its critics but, for me, the film worked well. We often see the Middle East portrayed in such a negative light but this film lifted the lid slightly on a world those of in the West only learn about on occasionally disturbing televsion news reports. The Middle East isn't usually a place known for its collective sense of humour but people who know and understand the Middle East folk well will know what a tremendous sense of humour they have - and this film shows us tantalising glimpse of that wonderfully rich culture. This was a very good film and I hope people will start making similar films and throttle back on the other kinds of films which show just hurt and pain. I congratulate this film and the people who produced it for bringing us something new, different, humorous, enlightening and heart warming. Oh...and it was worth every penny. Watched it twice in the space of a week - it's that good!
Not a masterpiece but a really nice movie with a happy ending. A bit corny in places but we smilled and laughed al the way through. Go ahead and give it a go...
Normally a Tom Hanks film is excellent but this was a big waste of time. Don't spend your money on this drivel.
Long, drawn out and boring
Enjoyable movie about life and its simple beauty.
this movie has all you need for a great film, No blasphemy, no cursing, shows the Christian man as well as actor the Tom Hanks is
Hanks rarely disappoints. An unusual movie with the main character coming across as naive but soon catching on which surprises everyone. With a charming offbeat love story that leaves you feeling stupidly satisfied. Crackpot enjoyable.
Worst film I have watched this year
Middle of the road film. Not much story
Great film. Not what you would Expect.
Just dull. Whst more to say - we kept wiaitng for something to happen and ended up with a fly on the wall documentary of someone's failed business trip.
a good, interesting film, but just nose dives at the end to an abrupt halt which is a shame as I was quite enjoying it.
A brilliant movie. Take yourself somewhere else for an hour and a half. Frustrating, funny, and deep.
Really enjoyable film, good comedy relief from Yousef, loved the naff fish joke, despite what some critics are saying Tom Hanks done good and all in all a good little film...
