In 1970, Elvis Presley (Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon: Man of Steel) arrives unannounced on the lawn of the White House to request a secret meeting with President Richard Nixon (two-time Academy Award® winner Kevin Spacey: House of Cards), determined to become an undercover federal agent in the war on drugs. Based on the untold story behind this peculiar encounter between King of Rock 'n' Roll and the world's most powerful politician, forever immortalised in the most requested photograph in the United States National Archives, Elvis & Nixon is a cleverly scripted stranger-than-fiction comedy with hilarious performances from Hollywood heavyweights Shannon and Spacey.

Short and Sweet

Shannon and Spacey play their respective roles superlatively throughout this film, the build up to the meeting was only painful because I just wanted to see the two of them face off, and when they do, brief as it is, it's damn good.
Might be a bit too slow for some but it's a short film and the journey to the White House is full of good moments...does portray Elvis as someone living on the edge of sanity at times but I don't know enough about the man to what's fact and what is exaggerated/apocryphal, but Shannon balances it nicely...
