This is one of the best films I have seen in a while. The story can be interpreted into the modern life. A reminder to look at ourselves and how we can make a difference with our own actions. Really recommend. Beautiful story, scenery, beautiful performance and people.
Academy award nominee for best foreign language film Embrace of the Serpent centres on Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people, and the two scientists who, over the course of 40 years, build a friendship with him. The film was inspired by the real-life journals of two explorers (Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes) who traveled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century in search of the sacred Yakruna plant.
You know you've struck gold when you can't compare a film to any other. Beautifully shot with a storyline woven together with near perfection.
